That, my friend, is gloriously 80s. As my boyfriend put it, "He-Man meets Thundercats." Seriously, I'm getting nostalgic for shows that I never even watched because I was four years old in 1989. Bravo, good sir - bravo!

Hmm, well, rad/fire could work too. It's just that I got the name "Geiger Contessa" and I needed a secondary

Quote:Not when SC stops them from gaining endurance back. Just now I was fighting some Paragon protectors, and watching them stand there doing nothing (except tossing the occasional Brawl at me) after I SC/BL/Transferenced them. The only attacks they're able to get off before I SC again are too weak to kill me - and what else would I slot my AOEs for if not endurance mod (and accuracy and recharge)? Slotting for damage is redundant when you cap yourself using Siphon Power and Fulcrum Shift. You have far more time to solo than I'm willing to spend if you slot up on end mods for both AoEs. Even if they have a sliver of end after SC and BL, they are attacking until one of those powers recharges.
If you don't like that build, fine, go play something else - but saying it's not "viable" is foolish. -
Quote:When you three-slot SC and Ball Lightning for Endmod, that sliver of endurance is all a mob has left after two clicks, and they won't be regaining it anytime soon especially if you keep spamming SC every chance you get. I mentioned my Kin/Elec (who is, by the way, one of my favorite characters - loads of fun to play) is in his mid thirties - if "reality" is going to hit me, when can I expect that? SC->Ball Lightning->Fulcrum Shift means yeah, they are going to get in a volley or two, but with the damage debuff from Fulcrum Shift I can survive it and get the HP back via Transfusion (used on whatever enemy still has endurance left, to help drain him). Hasten means I have draining powers up almost any time I need them, and FS means I can slot all my electric attacks for Endmod instead of damage. Yeah, he doesn't take out a spawn solo as quickly as some ATs might, but that's par for the course with a Defender and doesn't bother me in the slightest. Seriously - he almost never dies. And then reality hits. SC takes 3 seconds to animate. It takes two of them to drain a mob. Add in recharge time and there is plenty of time for you to take damage. Epics will help in draining a mob in two clicks, but you'll have to be in your 40s for that to happen. Oh, there's also the wee bit of an issue when mobs can attack with the smallest sliver of end as well.
Yes, SC has a three-second animation. This can be mitigated by taking Stealth to get yourself into the middle of the spawn before firing it, or if you're crazy like me, Teleporting in and firing it right away - and Ball Lightning doesn't take nearly as long. Seriously. It works.
Two tips for this build: Skip Voltaic Sentinel, and carry a lot of Break Frees. -
I'd look at guides, but there isn't a single Rad/ blaster guide out there. I've looked at Rad/ Corruptor guides, but a) a Corruptor is not a Blaster and b) There weren't any Rad/Traps Corruptor guides which I'd imagine to be the closest I'd come anyway. I did take a look at the Fire/Devices Blaster guide, but Rad/ is clearly not Fire/ so I'm still not sure what to think of doing, what goes together, etc. Also, the two powersets are completely unfamiliar to me in every way, never played Rad Blast, Devices, or even Traps on anything, ever, so I really have no idea what would be a good idea to take/not take/slot with what/etc.
So yeah, what should I be thinking with my power picks and slotting for those sets? -
Quote:As a costume-and-concept junkie, might I give a resounding NO. Say one of the Mutant-only costume parts is the Tentacle Arm. What if I have a Magic-origin character with a Lovecraftian theme? That's just not fair!So a mutant character could unlock mutant only costume pieces at level 5 by completing the initial stage of the arc, a special mutant only aura at level 20 by completing that, one, etc. Same with a magic character, a tech one, etc.
However, I do like the idea of giving a little bonus XP or other rewards based on completing arcs and running missions for contacts of the appropriate origin. Contacts are already listed as having origins associated with them, and apart from unlocking stores in which they sell overpriced DOs and SOs that nobody in their right mind would buy when they can just go to a regular store, that means nothing. Increased rewards based on origin is a fantastic idea and a great way to make these contacts' origin-associations relevant. It'd all be the same rewards regardless of what origin you play - you just do different things to get them, which is both equal and sensible. No combat buffs, no special weaknesses, no locking anyone out of anything, just a little incentive to have a robot, a wizard, and a ninja to have differing adventures. -

Adding monster feet to regular legs is a nice thought, but I'm afraid it won't work - Monstrous legs aren't just monstrous, but digigrade, and the upper legs' knees are bent to accomodate digigrade feet. That's why monstrous feet aren't available with regular legs; the pieces just don't fit together. The insect feet that Sam posted are a plantigrade version of the ones available with Monstrous legs and rather different:
Insectoid remains a good example because the seam between feet and legs is visible, so you can easily see how the joint is different, allowing the feet to be shaped that way. Adding all monster feet to regular legs would require modeling work, and a way for the legs to detect which feet were being used so they could reshape themselves to fit. It'd probably be a lot simpler to just add a skirt slot to the Monstrous leg options - even if there was some model tweaking involved to prevent clipping with large upper legs, it'd be less tweaking and less programming than putting monster feet on regular legs. -
You kidding? Kin/Elec is awesome - you'll never take damage, because enemies will never have any endurance! Drain 'em to oblivion with Short Circuit, Ball Lightning, and Transference on any tougher foe, then Fulcrum Shift while you're standing in the middle of the crowd (that can't attack you!) and continue spamming lightning everywhere. Soloing, your Vigilance stacked with Fulcrum Shift will even get you plenty of damage output.
I have one of these at level mid-thirties, can you tell? -
Thanks. She's my favorite character ever to RP, kinda grew out of a costume I thought up when I was playing with using secondary colors on full tights to represent skin and thereby create clothing patterns that aren't actually available with skin, and found that light blue worked very well as a skin color. Few spikes, extra eyes, insect feet, and the rest is history.

Oougel, my Widow, is supposed to be a human/Soldier of Rularuu hybrid, so her power item takes the form of a collection of self-made trinkets built out of inherently magical materials. She collects bits of crystal, silver wire, etc like a Natterling would, cobbles them together into small trinkets that behave somewhat like miniature versions of the monuments you see in the Shadow Shard as long as she keeps them on her person. This is what she does with Incarnate shards.

Do want! Most of my characters probably won't use them, but some of them have themed outfits for holiday events, and with more slots I wouldn't have to pay the tailor to load a saved costume every time the season changes. Also, turning auras on and off at will would be fantastic!

Quote:Really? Funny, I never noticed that. In any case, I was just thinking something along the lines of what that glitch (if it is a glitch) does - why shouldn't there be random Child NPCs wandering around in peaceful neighborhoods? Since you can't attack the random for-flavor citizens that walk from place to place telling you what time it is, or if you've recently finished an arc, telling other people what you've been doing, I can't for the life of me figure a reason that they should all be adults.Sometimes in the Rogue Isles (Port Oakes in particular), I will see an unusally short citizen walking around. Maybe its just a glitch with the NPC height scale, but sometimes these shorties are even sporting "youthful" looking clothes and hairstyles, which makes me suspect they are meant to represent chidlren. Although they still kind of look like just really short adults.
Never see them in Paragon. -
Agreed. Blast is good too. The trick in both cases is probably just differentiating it from Energy Blast/Assault in terms of how it plays... but I'm creatively spent from typing an hour-in-the-making walloftext RP post on another board, so maybe I'll start thinking about it tomorrow.

Quote:Hence, "A faster animation would be nice," but don't take away my large heavy objects please. Just make them appear faster! For instance, perhaps instead of blasting a mini-singularity out of your hand, the animation could be a small mini-singularity forming around your hand and blasting the object out of it. An animation like that wouldn't have to take more than a second, since there'd be none of the stupid materializing/hanging in the air that slows the current animation down. Additionally, it'd be more sensical for many themed characters who shouldn't be able to create objects from thin air, since the appearance would be more like pulling the object through a wormhole from somewhere else. The whole making objects and throwing them around is very fun at first. Then waiting forever for an image to be generated and then the attack hitting the target AFTER its been defeated on teams gets ANNOYING after it happens for the 30th time.
Quote:Now as I said I have no issue using Wormhole as I am used to it.. However I have seen iut used badly time and time and time and time again. No other stun works this way.. -
Because it matches Gravity in appearance - Gravity trollers have been using /Kin for ages to match their theme, so why shouldn't Doms be allowed the same thing? KM has been striking me as an excellent thing to adapt into an Assault set ever since I first tried it.

Quote:I saw no such copy.I notice a couple of things may have happened here. Either you waited until someone bought the factory sealed copy that was on sale for less than $20. bucks before posting, or you weren't interested enough in getting a copy to bother to read the condition of the DVD's that were being sold. In which case ya snooze ya lose.

Quote:Because why would you want to throw a ho-hum ball of kinetics when you could throw a FORKLIFT?WHy doesnt Propel just look like a Mini Singularity that shoots out of your hand ????
Agreed that a faster animation would be nice, but really, Propel is half the fun of the set. My first 50 is a grav/EA dom and one of the most fun characters I've ever played; she gave me a great love of the Gravity set.
Also, disagreed on Wormhole being too complicated, but applying the stun at the beginning rather than the end of the animation would be a huge improvement. -
This is such a "Duh!" suggestion that it makes me wonder why the devs didn't think to give it to us from the beginning. +1 support.

Quote:If you think I, and many others, are "cheap" for being unwilling or unable to shell out $65 to a third-party seller for a cape and an alternate animation for Sprint, I'd like to know how I can get your job so I can have that kind of money to burn.Power Slide has always been available for purchase. The only way you can get Power Slide is by purchasing it. You get it when you buy the City of Heroes Collecters DVD Edition. Just because you are too lazy to look for copies or too cheap to buy it doesn't mean it isn't for sale.

Excellent
Think I'll go with axe... tested it out for a bit and I like the knockdown a lot, actually. -
So this Brute doesn't actually exist yet, but the operative word here is "yet" -
Perhaps ironically, as a Brute he won't be able to even have any real ice powers until he hits 41.
I'm playing with ideas for frost giant names right now.
EDIT: Scratch that, he exists now. I can't believe "The Jotunheimer" was free. You can't get much more perfect than that...
