Axe or Mace with Stone Armor?

I managed to get the Crystalline stone armor to look like pretty good ice, and put together a costume for a frost giant (will obviously have Arctic Mastery epic pool) - but I can't decide on a primary. I want something really Viking-ish, so that'll be axe or mace. Which one works better with stone armor?

Well, KB has the possibility to become problematic on a set that has a really slow movement rate. If you're careful and avoid (at all costs) slotting any KB to your powers, so as to keep them limited to knock-down, instead of knock-back, then I'd say Axe gives you better mitigation, and it's way more Viking.

Vikings were well known for using axes, even when they could afford swords instead..... but then again, there's also Thor sporting his hammer. But, do you want to be a Thor look-alike?

Not all Nordic costumes have to be Thor lookalikes even if they have hammers Besides, even if I do go Mace, I might not even give him a hammer... he's a giant, after all; I might just give him a massive club. About the only thing he shares with Thor is the winged helmet anyway... blue skin and a massive beard set him fairly far apart IMO.

I'd screencap the costume to show you but my client is updating D:

Maybe I'll play around in Mids and look at the numbers... kinda leaning towards Axe anyway since I already have a Mace/Invuln, even if she's really low level, and a Shield/Mace tank.

Other question: How viable is Stone Armor as a set if I skip Granite? Both this brute and one of my tanks would have a lot of trouble reconciling it with their themes, seeing as their Stone Armor is being used as recolored stand-ins for sets we don't have (Radioactive Armor on the tank). I know, I'm probably crazy for suggesting it.

Still viable. From the survivability standpoint, it was a non-Granite Brute that Nihilli used to prove the point that Brutes could solo AVs.

Excellent

Think I'll go with axe... tested it out for a bit and I like the knockdown a lot, actually.

From a performance standpoint Mace is better than Axe, and has more customization options. Having played both, I'll never make a new Axe guy again unless the set gets retooled. Not only is it sub par, it is also boring; you get a lot of the same basic attack over and over. Mace mixes things up a bit more.

well... he fought malaise. and he used the superior psi protection in the minerals power. however, there are many non-granites that are very survivable. in many situations.

im sure nihilli could use a granite build to solo a different AV too. he's just that good.
