I've just come back to the Rogue isles after a few months away and someone's removed one of my slash commands!
pet_select_name no longer exists it seems.
I've been looking around at the guides but none seem to have an alternative.
Anyone know a slash command for targeting your minions ? -
As you got most of my friends details, which is weird coz they don't have forum accounts, could you add my wife's blaster?
Ktrenal, level 50, Fire / Fire / Fire Blaster! -
I will be in touch.
hunt me down on @essell so I can give your VG a try. Just Coz I like meerkats that much! -
Monday @ 8pm. No problem! We be there. As Kimimoro has announced his return to CoX this week, I'll drag him along to burn stuff for us.
-
I'm totally up for that.
What time Saturday? (I'll be drunk, but I'll be there. Apolgies in advance if I get loud and abusive)
I got plenty of characters who would like to come along. -
I need a new SG.
Mine is fun sometimes, and they're good players, mostly, but I'm not having any fun!
So my desires for a SG are:
1. Main focus is on enjoying the game. Any SG that uses the phrase "because it'll be a challenge" more than it uses "because it'll be fun" is nooo good.
2. Don't take yourselves too seriously. It's a game dudes! We come on here to relax, atleast I do. I know some of you may not have real responcibility in RL so may come on here seeking some. Fine, go build your empire and train you troops, but leave me alone.
3. Teams! I've tried a few SGs and they say Hi to people as they come online but never stop and ask if they wanna team.
4. TaskForces! It'd be great if the SG I join was regularly doing taskforces. I love em. I know they're long and some are very dull but you gotta do em sometimes! Because even the dull ones are fun with the right team!
5. Sense of humor. I love laughing with my friends. I love taking the <micky> out of people. I was once nicknamed "The Sarcastic Stalker". I'm not really being rude. You're meant to joke back! If you've just played through a mission in silence, I think you might as well have solo'd it! (I'm not talking about endangering the team with talk, I'm not that mad)
Sooooo,if that sounds like you, and you think you can use a member with over 12 months eXPerience in the game, his own badge and taskforce database, and characters from level 8 through 50 send me a message on the forums, or a global tell. I'm @essell
If you think I sound like a moaning bugger, or a cocky waste of space, I promise I'm not, but I will hunt you down and kill you anyway for thinking it. -
Don't slot Dwarf for end reduction!
The forms have stamina built in so slot them for End Recovery!
I can fight in human form, then when the end runs low, whack on Conserve power and switch to another form. Bingo. Instant Stamina. Just make sure you've got conserve three slotted with Recharge.
Okay it means I gotta keep switching forms, but thats half the fun of PB right?
It's worth it to save the three power slots it'd take to get Stamina. -
With referance to the people who are fighting the Sterotype of blasters being gung-ho muppets with all the debt badges by level 20, I understand not all blasters are like that.
You guys are right that it's very tough for blasters sometimes, their nature means they do damage, which means agro but they're as squishy as non-damage dealers.
My Wife's first Char was a fire blaster, and she was very good at it because she knew when to hit and when to hold fire. You might feel like you're doing nothing sometimes, but thats usually better than debt.
That said, most gung-ho muppets who get all the debt badges by level 20 seem to be making blasters, and they give the rest of you a bad reputation!
As I said in the Kheldian forum, "Being effective is secondary to having a good time" -
I'm sure most people who read this will have had the experience of teaming with a blaster who loves to lie down, face first after a battle.
But the other day I was doing an SG TF and a random blaster sees us gathering at the contact, and asks if he can join us.
In all my time here I've never seen a blaster who loved to die so much!
He'd happily agro'd mobs, die, get rezzed and run off to the next mob, usually dying before the defender's Rez had recharged. He didn't seem to mind this. I think he felt guilty rather than resentful. Coz when a highly strung tanker quit the team in disgust (coz he'd died), the blaster asked "Was that my fault? Do you want me to leave?"
Naturally I said no, unless he was the one who killed the tank. As it was a PvE mission he stayed.
So by the end of the TF, the defender had spotted this pattern and would wait till someone else had died and use their AoE rez to catch the blaster and the other person at the same time. So he spent a lot of time lying around. Probably saved him from a lot of extra debt.
My question is, is it wrong that I found this sooo funny?
I mean a bad Tank, say not taunting, or a bad empath who won't heal, is costing the team dearly.
But a blaster who just gets themselves killed is no skin off my nose. Luckily the team was good quality, in the main, so we could handle playing with one man dead. The mobs were no trouble.
I was putting a team together to fight Adamastor last night when I saw this blaster's name on my search list. I invited him simply because I knew he'd run off and do something daft and get himself killed. Great value entertainment.
He arrived in DA, the defender TP'd him to us, and the first thing he did was fire a sniper attack at the GM!
A tank in the group pulled the GM off him, so he ran back in and punched Adamastor!
Poor, poor man.
I'm slightly ashamed to say that I'd team with him any time just to laugh at this strange player. We did try explaining to him what he's doing wrong, but he got quite upset and thought we were being overly critical, so we left him alone...
Oh well. We get all sorts. -
Not quick enough to avoid void IMO.
I prefer to fly at them in human form at high speed, activate build up and whack down my melee attacks.
Kills the Void, and the knock back clears out the mob.
He usually gets a hit on me, but voids are like that. [Censored] -

If there's badges available for getting quotes, Can I ask 'Isn't that from 5th Element?' -
I'm seriously considering dropping Nova form when I next respec. I've enjoyed using it, esp at low levels, but I'm not sure it's needed any longer.
I'm much more into dwarf and I could use the slots elsewhere me thinks.
All the squid powers are available to human PBs anyway.
Anyone tried this? Anyone think I'm mad? -
-fly on the Incandesant strike indeed, and on the White Dwarf Strike.

Just out of curiosity... If you had rolled a scrapper, say, would you still have joined them with it, or changed back to your 50 to actually be able to help?

Absolutly would have taken the new toon. I said they wanted to team with me, I didn't say I was effective. If I want to play a fun game I don't need to pay £8.99 per month. If I want to play a game with a community I play CoH. Toons effectivness is secondary to having a good time. -
I've often wondered when it says "the higher the level, the more criticals"
Does that mean litteraly what it says, or do you get extra criticals when the relative level is higher, Reds, Purples Etc? -
Carni, if you're having trouble with agro going in the wrong places, ask ducktor to 'tone it down' on his costumes. If he's dressing like he used to, he's gonna be taunting their eyes from miles away!
-
I have absolutly no endurance issues on my Dark/Regen Scrapper now that I have three SO end modifications on Quick Recovery.
I picked up Dark Consumption so I could steal end from enemies, and in three levels I've needed it once.
I only have integration running.
And why bother with health?
With Fast Healing + Integration, all health is gonna do is reduce your down-time if you take a beating.
In that situation I just use reconstruction and be done with it. It recharges so fast anyway.
So like the man said, only grab fitness if you're running extra toggles from the Power Pools. -
When I made my PB first off a lot of my friends were still in Peregrine fighting AVs and naturally they asked me along. Nothing wrong with that.
But the way most ATs develop and become so much more effective as they get higher levels just doesn't seem to happen with khelds. They're great when you start and they carry on much the same for atleast as far as Ive gone with mine. (33 so far)
So really I see no advantage to Power Leveling a Kheldian.
I'd spent the last five levels with my troller grabbing every XP I could to get to 50. Coz lets face it, you're not going to see any major changes or improvments to your char at that point.
By the time I hit it and got my PB I was ready to relax and enjoy the game again.
Maybe some people just get into the habbit of rushing through their levels in the high 40s and forget to relax and slow down. -
I would recomend Confuse over Telekenesis.
One of the best uses of confuse is stopping bosses/AVs agroing on the heros.
It's a great way to get AVs to lay down their Alpha's before you have to get in range.
You're never going to do that with just mass confusion -
Clearly my PB is worth sticking with from what you guys say. I pride myself on adaptability so it's just a matter of finding a way of playing him thats fun and effective.
Definatly need to find him a SG, coz Khelds seem to need teams more than most ATs -
A lot of people have their hero/villain list in their sig. Many also quote the level.
Guessing from what I can see, a lot of people run off and build a Kheldian when they get a 50, but quickly get bored and start making other, more regular, toons.
Are there any people who can say they really enjoyed their kheldian when they got it, and didn't drop them like an energy-based-alien-merged-with-a-hot-potato? -
Sounds like you've set it up the same way I did, except I bound keys instead of using Macros. I have found that you need to have "$$bind_load_file <file>" as the last thing in a bind or macro, but it sounds like you already did.
Try doing the same thing with keybinds and that'll tell you if it's something you're typing wrong, it just a bug with the Macros. -
Well I got it, I'm using it and I love it.
The recharge is fine as it is, the durations good and the end cost is perfectly reasonable. So I'm gonna three slot it with ACC debuff and use it to paralyse Boss's abilities to hit, as Max suggested. Never thought I'd enjoy melee charactrs. -
Not a lot of people like it, but I found adding one "To Hit Buff" SO into Build up made a huge differance in countering any Accuracy Debuffs I got hit with.
Depends if you can spare the slot. -
Quick question for the expert scrappers,
A lot of people seem to like touch of fear, from what I'm reading on the boards. As an Ex-troller who used fear it seems to a bit wrong to use it on a melee type.
When I saw I could have it, I was thinking it'd be good for stopping the attacks from one guy while I killed his friends, but the way people have been talking about it on these boards they seem to use it on a target then hit him.
Doesn't that make the fear a bit redundant, coz they're gonna hit you back? Or is it the -ACC debuff that makes it so appealing?
