  1. Its the nice chat, bit that made me laugh.
But to clarify, my views are totaly based upon a limited time spent in contact with the GGOOC and perhaps not representative of the the whole.

I found it to be full of arguments, and more than a bit daunting for a newcomer (and "insert name of deity of the week" knows I've got thicker skin than most).

  2. Keep an eye out for any of my chars, if its on union its a rp char.

    Mercy Knight=Villain.
    Tech-Tech=Hero
    Tech-Fire=Hero
    Tralomethrin=Villain
    Agent SysReq=Villain
    Damselfly=Hero
    Damsel-fly=hero

Well, let's see.... Yes, the GGOOC channel IS our channel, and yes we have rules. These are designed so that people in there can actually have a nice chat,

    Lol!
    Oh wait you're being serious..

    Fair play?

    PVP hint number XXXX:
Dont expect Hero characters to be heroic and nice, and dont expect villain chars to be evil and villainous.
This is not a role-play game, and there is nothing to force people to act such.

  5. Its a problem with the bases and zones, not so much TP-foe (or recall friend if you're feeling evil and are near the enemy base).

IF they made the zones bigger, then they could support bases which had their zone doors/Hosps out of max enhanced TP range.

On a slightly related subject..Lighthouse+Drone+Innocent teleporting blaster=Me eating keyboard.
I cant believe I forgot they stuck a drone ontop of my light house

Sign up now to the "free our light house from the evil Drone tyranny!" club. :P
  6. Spurr my sonic/en blaster is only lvl 30, and with double tactics plus infra red goggles plus clear mind, I still cannot see most stalkers if they are standing next to me talking; (though I think thats quite cool, it really adds to the threat factor).

I also think some people forget that we have an idea where our bounties are thanks to the yellow map indicator..No from some stalker busting detection powers

In the end any enemy is annoying if I/we cant hit them with any degree of regularity..and it just happens to be the case that stalkers are good at not getting hit.
  7. (( Hi all, is this open to any rp-er? If so what are the lvl requirements (if any)?))

Zone PvP is very different to Arena PvP, Arena is a lot more tactical, Zone is a lot more fluid, at least in my opinion.

I agree with your base camping thing though, I much prefer fighting in the water (Sirens) or at the beach (Warburg).

The issue with the latter is that it's very near the Hero base, so some people are tempted to just jump back a few hundred yards when they get attacked, which is kinda lame.

The thing I really hate about Zone PvP is that both sides have a habit of immediately falling back to the base if they're faced with a good team, at least on Defiant. Especially villains, as they're less likely to pool experience and set up a team to work together.

Droning isn't fun, and it isn't clever. Stop hiding behind them, if you get taken down, so be it. PvP is meant to be fun, if I'm killed by a good team or a clever tactic, all the better!

    [/ QUOTE ]

1: Withdrawing to a stronghold is a perfectly acceptable action if out manned/out gunned in pvp.

2: I am more than happy to jump into groups of villains and get gang killed, but then I have a warped sense of humour :P
But even I get bored of it and will wait in the base for a few mins, till the combats have moved locale and the villains spread out a bit.

3: Drones...Dont get within range of them then.

    ---------------

I like the presence of bases, they introduce a safe staging area where characters can enter the zone, with less chance of being killed by gangs of heroes/villains waiting by the doors.

The only real problem with the bases is that the zones are TOO SMALL to support them and pvp.
The zones seem designed to force players to encounter each other as quickly as possible, and prevent players from using what little area there is.

This is really obvious in sirens call, where the presence of "bots" and small design of the zone, force the players to use a limited part of the zone.

I'd like bigger zones with possibly more bunkers for teams to fight from, rather than using the bases.

    Union PvP

    Seems the same to me.

Though people in onion(sirens call) seemed to talk less, and less likely to invite others into their teams.

Bloody Bay was fun, though as empty as I'd seen it on defiant

I've only just started looking into Warburg so cant comment yet.

  10. Why do I enjoy PvP?
Simple really, days like today are why I enjoy PvP.

    Great people,great fun,great atmosphere

    DG>
  11. They're harmless really, though my favs are flying stalkers (or any flying target).. I might not be certain that I can defeat them, but I can hit them with screach and watch them fall out of the sky like a drunk sparrow

It might not be as dramatic as a block of ice/terror or an impale, but it makes me laugh.

    DG>
  12. The more I encounter stalkers the more I value their presence in pve and pvp, though from my perspective they are just a formalisation of what a lot people tried to do with other builds anyway.

The problems with complaning in pvp(in general) is that its all swings and roundabouts, with one side getting angry over something that the other does despite the fact that they are doing the same!

Take last night, I dragged Spurr back into Sirens again fully expecting to be fodder for anything with holds/immobs/massive damage/a pulse.
    And I was :P

Yet apparently I was a "Ganker"
That came close to making me angry(after I stopped laughing anyway)..Allmost made me want to make a proper PvP char and go "old school" on the fools.

Sure the Hero team/teams that were in were quite active, but so were the villains..
I was quite often hit by two or three stalkers at once, and from what else I saw the villains did seem to work well together ( That Sonic/Dark Corrupter seemed to be putting upa a good fight, and he should be proud that it was taking groups of heroes to challange him).

Hmm come to think of it, perhaps I should vomit out a pvp bot..

    Envenom

Envenom, thats the one that slows/stops the enemies End/health regen.

I havent used it much, as most fights dont last long enough for such a power to be useful, though I have used it on a few Capes.
Part of the problem is that all the enemy have vast amounts of endurance, so unless you have legions of endurance sucking allies it wony make any diff at all.

But then thats an issue I have with the game as a whole..Will we as player chats ever be as "nails" as any of our enemies? nope.
  14. Go Poison, its great!
Though as a Merc/Poison MM I doo feel like the strange offspring of a defender/blaster

It has a heal which is nice to keep your minions/team mates up. Envenom is quite handy against heroes and Elite bosses.
The cone slow power is great (nothing more funny than watching scrappers in slow-mo).

And the hold is quite strong too, with a long duration un-slotted against equal lvl mobs.

At higher lvls this pool is the only reason why I would lacky to a higher lvl char, as my minions become poo but I will still be able to help the team.
  15. They suck.

Why on earth would I want a silly hold/immob power? My mercs are throwing them out all the time.

More importantly...Why would my char ally themselves with one of the four idiots of doom, instead of either remaining indy or becoming a loyal lacky of Recluse?

Lets be honest here, the four idiots of doom are hardly competant villain role models.

Besides, I Wanted to summon spider robots! Or maybe a new equip option that grants my mercs the funky blasty stick things that the the Arachnos minions have.

    -

And what are these PvP problems people talk about? To me they seem the same as the problems all chars have the solution being dont die :P

    DG>
  16. ** As the last of the guards fell to the onslaught of his men, Mercy Knight reached down and plucked the leaflet that one of many bodies was clutching**

"Ah this is what the others were talking about then.."

**He turned as a blackclad commando approached him with the contents of the banks vault**

"We are done here, destroy the CCTV and rejoin me at the base"
    .
  17. I have to agree with the OP on this one, my MM is not a tanker He is fire support (though he is also a RP char), though I will tank if needed, I will allways be a below par tanker in comparison to a Brute.

All my powers are based on "support".
  18. I've been looking at maybe working to get stamina (am a mercs/evilfish MM) , as I like to be pretty active in missions and do find myself getting low on end after a couple of large groups (also in pvp the end gets sucked away very quickly when fighting heroes).

In the end I guess it all comes down to how you play your MM.
  19. davidg_EU

    Serum.

Ok does anyone find this power in the Merc set usefull?
I read the blurb, and thought "woohoo now I can boost my Commando (or the suicidal medic) and they can absorb even more aggro..and keep me alive longer!".

    What do I get?

A power that is soooooo slow to recycle, and does hardly anything to increase the longevity of what ever merc it is cast on.

I'd say play up culture, play down politics. More Mother Russia, less Party. Place of music, of art, of architecture. A proud people who hail from a country that is somewhat inhospitable in several parts. Although I'd say you could key into the sense of decayed empire a bit. Ignoring communism and such, Russia was once a great world power, now it's a country in debt and trying to grope its way forward.

    Just thematic ideas.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats pretty much how marvel portrayed russia, even during the cold war. there were heroes from russia and noble enemies too.

Not all comic book companies portrayed russia as total bad guys, although the vast majority did.

So I've gone and made an ice tanker named,'originally', Siberia.

as to a name for this SG, The People's Guardians, or Guardians of Honour?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hah! So thats why I could not have that name :P
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    Hehe

Well if he cast confuse and it backfired, he deserved his debt. You cant expect to do stuff like that, which personally I find unfair in pvp as to me pvp is playing against each other, not stuff like this or tping into drones etc.
    ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree that you if you go into the zone and use bots then you must expect increased risk of debt.

But It is a viable tactic, powersets have powers that enable you to manipulate mobs, if you want sterile pvp games then use the arena :P
  22. --Sorry to slightly take this away from the thead purpose--

I dont see it as plagirism, and if we are to ask people in the US permission before creating SGs or the like, then I want to see a whole plethora of heroes and groups in the line seeking back dated permission.

Does the SG sign up creator allow a group called CCCP to be creator here in europe? If it does then the name is free game if it does not then its not.

Perhaps I'm being prickly about this, but I refuse to have to get permission from random players before creating a SG or character unless that character/SG is taken directly from their creativity...If as players we had to do that every time we maed a SG or character then we would be reduced scraping the bottom of the barrel for names and ideas due to americas head start on game play.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I would seriously consider getting in touch with the US servers' CCCP and asking if they'd feel bad about CCCP expanding over to the EU servers as well. (In effect, asking if they'd allow us to use the name here as well.)

I think that building up an estabilished brand is better than having scattered groups across servers that try to do the same thing but have no unity.

That's just my two cents though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Does it really matter?
Unless they somehow have ownership over the name(or the EULA prevents it) surely asking permission is not needed?

But then I am not a big fan of "franchise" super groups as they tend to restrict players control over the group and adopt what ever baggage that the parent SG had.

    -----

"Mir", there used to a soft drink called Mir
Perhaps it would be easier to get a core group of characters/players and then choosing a name?
  24. Has the community changed for the worse while I have been here?

    No.

All the problems with the "community" were visible prior to my arrival and just a symptom of this type of game.
  25. Sounds good, other than the russian thing are you thinking of any other restrictions/guidelines?
