  1. Hmmm, so Earth/Time sounds like it is going to be a contender for me. How are the heals on Time?
  2. I am coming back to the game form a 2 year absense. I am going to be playing on a team with 4 people (perhaps 5) on a regular basis. These are all first time COH players. I was initially going to build a Dominator, but for the criteria I mentioned they said a controller would be a better fit.

    My question is on a small team of 4-5 players (including myself), which combo would be the best fit. The team-mates will be playing blaters and scrappers more than likely. I want to be able to debuff/buff, lockdown and heal. Damage wouldnt hurt either to help them out, but if they can pump out enough, it may not be necessary. After a bit of research since I have never played a controller before (my exp. has been with blasters and scrappers) Here is what I am leaning toward:

    Fire/Time
    Earth/Time
    Plant/Time
    ---or----
    Fire/Storm
    Earth/Storm
    Plant/Storm

    What would be the best combo out of those for a smaller team of primarily offensive builds?
  3. Don't have a ton of inf, maybe 50 mil or so. I am returning to the game to play along side my wife who is brand new to the game, and two friends that will be coming from DDO as soon as COH goes F2P. I am looking for a toon that can do control, heal and hold its own in the DPS department. Basically a team support oriented character that can still do good damage. Thats why I was initially looking into Doms. Never played one before and it seems like it would be fun. I am not really looking to min/max the toon, just looking for something fun to play to support the group I will be running with until they get an initial grasp on their toons, while still keeping up on the damage side of things.
  4. I am a returning player from 2 years away from the game. Now that you can play a Dominator on the hero side, I thought I would give them a shot. The only thing I have played in the past has been Blasters and Scrappers. I am unfamiliar with Controllers and Dominators. I have recently rolled a Corrupter with /dark and I enjoyed the heals and debuffs/slows (tarpit) it provides for team play.

    Anywho, I am looking to build a Dominator that can do the following

    - Good holds
    - Healing
    - Can contribute in the DPS department (wont reach the DPS of a blaster or scrapper, I know this upfront...just want to contribute, however if there is a secondary that does really good DPS that would be beneficial)
    - Great team support

    So, what combo would fit the bill for this, if there is a combo that can do all of that and what would the build look like. Any help would be appreciated.

    Synergy question

    I recently got my wife involved in COH and she is going ot make a Fire/MM blaster. What could I make that would have synergy with her build to help her along? Having a few blasters myself that is the archetype I am used to playing, but I do not know if 2 blasters running together would mesh well. I have no interest in playing a tank, or even a scrapper for that matter, so what else could I consider?

Instead of adding new travel powers, they need to update the teleport power to make it more efficient (less endurance, lower animation time), In fact, I dont belive any of the travel powers should cost endurance and should all be instant since they are just that...travel powers. Since the induction of the temp travel powers they are pretty much just used for theme anyways although superspeed does add a stealth bonus.
  7. I am having a lot of fun with my fire/ice blaster, the guy is a beast with damage and the /ice adds just enough mitigation to solo (Chillblain, Ice Patch and Shiver and great)

    Info on teleport

    I have a character I am creating that is taking the teleport travel power for concept reasons. I have never used this travel power before and I have a few questions on it.

    1 - Is it the endurance hog that others have suggested it is?
    2 - Do you need to take "Hover" so you dont fall out of the air when teleporting?
    3 - Does it need to be 3 or 4 slotted to be effective?
    4 - Is it a pain to use?

    If it is not worth the trouble I will most likely go with a different travel power, but this one would just "fit" the character better.

  12. Do you think they will add dark blast as well? Although with power color customs, you could turn energy into a dark blast I suppose.

  14. Here is a question I am sure has been asked a million times over, but I have been gone for a long time so I am not up to speed on the latest developments. Will the Blaster AT ever get the Dark Blast set as a primary?
  15. By viable I mean does it compare to WP or Regen as a secondary if you dont want to spend a TON of inf or to softcap it.
  16. From what I have been reading on the boards, it takes an insane amount of inf to make shield defense viable, however the extra damage output it helps with is a huge benefit. Would it be easier/cheaper to just take regen as a secondary? I am looking to roll either a Fire or DM scrapper (I am not fond of weapon draw times).
  17. I rolled up a fire/ice blaster and I am loving laying waste to everything in my path, but I am worried about mid to end game survivability with him. Is the fire/ice a viable build for survivability in the 20s to 30s or would something like ice/ice be better to solo mid to late game content with?

    I am basically looking for a blaster that does a good amount of damage, some aoe ( doesnt need to be a ton but at least 1 or 2 attacks is nice) and some control for survivabvility. I have heard Arch/MM is a nice build, but seeing that pure lethal damage is highly resisted I am not so surte about it.

    So out of Fire/Ice, Ice/Ice, Arch/MM and any others, which would be the best build for good damage,survivability and the ability to solo well.
  18. I always play blueside, but I decided to go ahead and make a villian for once. I made him up, entered and my HUD ( menus/windows) were not present. I did not have them turned off, they just didnt appear. I had no power selection bar, no chat window, nothing. My question is what are the "shift" or "ctrl" commands to get the menus/windows back into view.

    **A side question would be is redside a lot harder than blueside?

  20. Although you may want to wait so you can have the costume options at creation so you dont have to wait for a higher level and visit ICON for a costume change.
  21. I know that wings you invent/unlock don't allow for flight, but if you purchase the Valkyrie goodie pack does it allow for it when you first start off? I only ask because I have seen several people in the tutorial with the Valkyrie type wings on thier character flying around "Outbreak" and was wondering if this was because of the godie pack, or if it was something they obtained for having a lvl 50 character?

    Travel Question

    So would using your slots in Hover and Swift with IO's give you a comperable travel power, or would it just be easier to use some end redux for flight? If you were two have a 1 belssing of the zephyr in both swift and hover at level 14 ( which is when you would take flght), that would be 19/2% increase each. I dont know what the base speed of hover is so I dont know how fast that would make hover as a travel power.
  24. OK, so I found out that with 6 slots of SO's hover pretty much as fast as an unslotted fly. So if you were to slot Swift and Hover with some IO's, what kind of speed could you get out of it? Would it be comaparible to fly, or would slotting both of those up be a waste since you could use some end redux with flight?
