  1. I have a few:
    1) I didn't know about the 'combine 3 insp, make 1 insp of your choice' trick. I was looking for a place to buy wakies and a teammate showed me to an arena vendor. The vendor had every insp but a wakie. So I complained that the vendor didn't sell wakies. Ditto for being faceplanted and having a full tray of insp with no wakies.
    2) When I was on trial accnt, I was invited to teams lv 20 or higher. When I saw that level, I'd say 'sorry, I'm too low' and quit.
  2. Noooooooo!!! <em cry_of_anguish D; >
Unless they can transfer bases, I'd rather they don't. I have bases on a lot of servers.

As an alternative to earning your inf from missions, I must point you to Fury Flechette's market journal for other possible sources of income.

I encourage you to lead your own SFs. Paragon wiki is an excellent guide to help you lead a particular SF. As a leader, you set the pace. That way, you won't be left behind.

When I do Strikeforce madness, I have to ask the team to ghost. The lineup is:
    1) Operative Renault
    2) Tarikoss
    3) Silver Mantis
    4) Ice Mistral
    5) Mort Kal
    6) Respec Trial 1, 2 or 3 if requested

As you can see, that's a lot to go through in 1 day. I simply can't sit there clearing the map for each SF. For example, the longest completion times that I know of are:
    1) Operative Renault: 2 hrs
    2) Tarikoss: 2 hrs
    3) Silver Mantis: 3 hrs
    4) Ice Mistral: 2.5 hrs
    5) Mort Kal: 1.5 hrs
    6) 3 Respec Trials: 1.5 hrs x 3 = 4.5 hrs

If my team cleared the map each time, I would be sitting in front of my PC for 15.5 hrs. Anyone who is not leading can quit after doing a SF or 2, but I have to be there to lead all of them.

Another thing to take into account is that people do get tired and may have emergencies. If anyone quits the SF, the mobs still spawn with the original team size when it started. This can affect the team in the last mission. I was on a failed Ice Mistral once because 4 out of 8 dropped out and the remaining members couldn't take down the final AV. BTW, I wasn't leading that failed Ice M. :P

Rather than use an SF to level, it is better to run paper missions so that team mates can come and go with flexibility. The difficulty can be adjusted relative to the team's performance. Difficulty settings are not very flexible during SFs. If the leader starts the SF at a high difficulty, he can't change it until the first mission is over.

In terms of drops during low level SFs, I can tell you as a marketeer that a majority of the recipes under 50 are worth much less than the ones at 50. Occassionally, there are some keepers, but the rest is vendor trash.

If everyone in the team is 50, there is no reason to clear the mobs in a lowbie SF because 50s don't gain XP any more. My toons have a lowbie build with recall friend and invisibility. For team mates who can't ghost, recall friend will get them to where the team is.

Merits from low level SFs are very useful for random rolls or for converting into A-merits. The performance goal that I use is 1 merit per minute. So if the SF awards 42 merits, the completion goal is 42 minutes or less. This one of the reasons why teams speed lowbie SFs.
  5. For example:
    Alpha->Cardiac Boost recipe:
    1 Ancient Nictus F.
    1 Grai Matter
    1 Hero 1 DNA S.
    ------
    In shards: 4 x 3 = 12 shards

    === OR ===

    Alpha->Cardiac Boost recipe:
    1 Supercharged cap
    1 Detailed Reports
    1 Biomorphic Goo
    ------
    In threads: 20 x 3 = 60 threads
    In Astral merits: 60 threads / 4 = 15 merits

The shard method required the Notice and Favor of the well which requires you to do the WST in order to create Alpha tier 3 and 4. The Notice is limited to 1 per week, which means that there is an 8 day delay to obtain a Favor in order to craft Alpha tier 4.

The trial method does not require the Notice, but requires a very rare which is 30 empyrean merits to create Alp tier 4. Empyrean merits can be earned during the trials. Basically, if an unslotted Alpha toon does a day's worth of trials, it is possible to complete Alp tier 4 in 1 day.

    I love winter events.
Winter Events is one of the deciding factors for me subbing CoX. I did so many winter events that I collected over 1000 CCs. When I run a lv 50 Lady Winter team, I invite lowbies and we clear the map to level up.
I'm not much of a Spring fling person tho. No presents and CCs.

I just did a Morty Kal SF today. I also run Strikeforce madness for my VG. We do the lowbie SFs that are under 40 back to back. If I don't have enough team mates from my VG, I just broadcast in global channels and I can usually fill as long as it's not like 2 AM in the morning.

I use this trick too when I run tips at +1x8. I purposely invite lowbies to raise my odds. I didn't collect data to back it up tho, but I seem to get more shards when the rest of the team is not 50.

As for TFs, some swear by ITF, others with LGTF and BSF. For me, the SF that wins is the one that has the highest shard drop to minute ratio:

    SF complete time / (# shards + 4)

The +4 is the value of 1 component, ie, 1 Vial of Hero 1 is worth 4 shards.

    ITF leads with the highest ratio: 25 / (5 + 4) = 2 mins per shard
    LGTF is in the middle: 63 / (10 + 4) = 4.5 mins per shard
    BSF is the worst: 75 / (10 + 4) = 5.3 mins per shard

Based on the above formula, the SF that can be completed fastest has the best drop rate. In this case, ITF.
  8. I'm not sure if you already know, so I figure I'll mention it if you don't. As an alternate to shard farming, drops from BAF and Lambda can also be used to craft Alpha powers.

    I agree.
My T4 Alpha dom got a very rare even before any slot was unlocked during the first week of trials. My kin corr got a very rare even though most of the time he was just healing and doing sb. Both VRs are from BAF.
My rad and brute have a lot of rare thru BAF. Lambda rolls are usually commons and uncommons.

The silvers sold fairly quicky, but then again, it was only 19 recipes. Out of the 19, 2 were trash. 2 sold over 30 mil, 7 between 15-20 mil and the rest 10 mil or less.
All in all, it was an interesting experiment, but I'll probably stick to doing niches and tips than AE.
  11. Some bronze still haven't sold, but since the sales are fairly small, I thought I'd post the data. Except for those under 10k, sale prices are for crafted IOs.

    Bronze 30 = 70 tix
    9999 tix = 142 bronze 30 rolls

    Sales over: ___# of sales

    10-19.9 mil____11
    5-9.9 mil______29
    500k-4.9 mil___39
    trash__________50

    Final infamy: 510,500,192
-seed inf of 100 mil: 410,500,192
    Avg profit per bronze: 2,890,846

    Unsold: 8,910,000
    Final inf + unsold: 419,410,192

1 rare salvage = 540 tix = avg of 2 mil if sold
    1 Silver roll = 525 tix
    525 tix = 7 bronze 30 rolls
    7 Bronze 30 rolls avg profit: 20,235,924
Compare to Avg Profit/Silver roll: 12,198,533
    Ratio: 1.65

So for 9999 tix, bronze 30 rolls will bring in 65% more profit if crafted vs silver 30 rolls.
Also note that about 1/3 of my rolls were trash, ie, not worth crafting. My criteria for crafting is that it has to sell for at least 1 mil. A large majority of the bronzes will sell for between 1-5 mil.
  12. You can farm with any brute, but the difference is the kills/min. If you want a farming brute and are on a budget, a ss/fire/mu will do the trick for you.
My elec/shield brute is able to farm S/L mobs as high as +4, however, I prefer +2x8 in terms of kills/min.
Like Irish, I don't farm much but if I did, I will probably roll a ss/fire brute.
For trials and strikeforces, my elec/shield is my main brute and performs very well.

I once asked longtime players where all the inf came from and my understanding is that many people had accumulated several years worth of inf before the market came out. So there's a lot of folks out there who would just throw cash to get what they want and not bat an eye at the cost. From a buyer's point of view, you as a buyer is competing against another buyer who can probably afford much, much more than you.
Most sellers, of course, want to get as much as possible for their stuff, so they will price it to a value that someone is willing to pay.
There is no way you can control what someone else is willing to pay. This is not the market's fault, nor some scheme to spike the prices.
It is possible to make this exchange more difficult by removing the bid history. Without it, sellers will have no reference point and at the minumum, must list enough to recover the cost of the item and the market fees. However, the lack of a history will no doubt be a requested feature.
Also, I doubt that the lack of bid history will lower the prices of PVP IOs or even purples since these are so rare.

I cashed in the tickets around 1st or 2nd week of April so I probably crafted as many as I have market slots for, then waited for some to sell before crafting another batch.
The last IO sold around 5/2, so at most the IOs sat between 1 week to 4 weeks.
According to the modified date of the spreadsheet, Clouded and Entropic had not sold by 4/18. So assuming they sold by 5/1, they sat for 2 weeks.
I thought about tracking when I put it up for sale and when it sold, but...
    I'm lazy... _(.-.)_
I also lost some market fees because some IOs dropped in sell value and I had to relist them.
FYI, the bronze 30 sales have topped 400 mil with 20 or so IOs still waiting to be sold. It's looking more like a 2:1 profit between bronze and silver 30 rolls.
Note that most of the silver recipes use rare salvage. So 17 rare salv x 2 mi = 34 mil in craft cost.

Is it normal to end up with a twisted sense of Inf from doing this? I used to be a penny pusher, thinking 10 million as a lot, now I can lose 20 million in a typo and just laugh it off.

But yeah, you're probably right. I should keep on doing it, I'm not going to burn my Inf in a giant fire pit, though. I got several characters that could use a boost for IOs so that comes first. Plus helping out friends and SG mates find the IOs they want at a good price.

Yet... I still find purples to be overpriced for what they do. Not that I'd be asking less myself if I actually got a drop, of course.
Congratz! And nice color scheme btw! I like the outfit.

No shame in being a penny pusher. I'm still one even while holding several billions. Since you mentioned SG and are wondering what to spend with your earnings, I suggest making your own. Your heroes deserve a lair you can show off, and you can use it store IOs for the toons that you are leveling but aren't yet able to slot them... yet. I try to start collecting IOs even when my toon is a lowbie so that I have a bunch ready to slot by the time the toon hits 50.

As for purples, I have played this game for about a year, and none of my toons have any purples. A few have LOTG7.5s. Are my toons gimped? With several 'Master of' badges on each one and Tier 4 Alpha, I don't feel like they are. Purples to me, are icing on the cake, but not really necessary to play content.

Also, a lot of people view marketing as a deterrent or not in line with their heroes' concept. I am glad for you that you overcame that. It does take a little bit of time, but as you have discovered, it's small relative to some of the long task forces that can take over an hour. You will have to invest some time to build your toons, but the benefits in the long run will keep you happy playing them.

    Welcome to the Ebil Club!

I agree. There are a lot more 'joiners' than leaders. Based on the last statistics published, it's about 2 heroes to 1 villain, so there's even fewer people who are willing to lead redside.
Even so, I prefer redside. Simpler maps and nicer folks. There are fewer people redside, but most of those who stay red are excellent players.
I usually lead teams so I don't have a problem finding a team since people come to me.
I did team on Protector, which is a less populated server, and was able to find a team using the search GUI. I simply look for names that are purple which indicates that he/she is a leader and send a tell. Or, I ask names in yellow which indicates that they are in a team and ask if there's room.
  19. I have gotten my 2 VRs on BAF during the 1st week of i20 going live.
  20. You'll be lucky if someone will just hand you the keys to a base, considering that it takes about 800,000 prez to get some control units and power.
So 1 million influence/infamy = 2000 prestige, which is 400,000,000 inf for 800k prez. And that's WITHOUT tp units.
Hyperstrike made a good suggestion of making a storage base and then go on coalition with a SG that has tp units. As a coalie, you have access to their tp units.
  21. I'll sign up my rad/kin corr, Azure Spirit, for Friday night. I got MoLambda on my cold/rad corr and I must emphasize debuffs, -res, -regen. If I remember, the ratio was more like 14 debuffs and a couple of melee. At least 1 melee must be a strong tank/brute that can hold Marauder's agro. I suggest bringing lucks since the league will not back off when Nova Fist fires and everyone has to survive it and keep hitting. Also bring lots of reds. Everyone has to hit hard and fast. Those 15 or so minutes go by fast.
  22. Dark Kingdom has a branch on heroside, Dark Kingdom Rogue. For an invite, send an ingame email to @E X O D U S with the days and times that you'll be on.

    Welcome back!
  23. Global channels are only useful if the leader of a team is looking at it and sees your chat for LFT. I have been able to find teams on low pop servers by just using the search UI. Just filter on the level you want and send a message to the leader of a team.
If all else fails, maybe try forming a team?

I agree. I subbed a year ago and from playing the game normally, I've built a global friends list of over 30 people and am also in a good villain group. From this list and the coalition, I can be in a team where I know everyone.
Since the game can't be tailored to your friend, I suggest that he meet more friends that he can team with. I'm a mere 1 year vet who started off with 0 friends. I'm sure a 6 year vet like him can do it.
I'm assuming you have a global friends list. And I assume that your global friends also have their own list. Say you know 20 people and those 20 know another 20 people. That's 20x20=400 potential people that he can meet.
If he refuses to even interact with anyone new, I don't think that the issue is the game. He is better off quiting and socializing in real life. I apologize in advance if I offend you with this, but this is just my opinion.

I was the cold/rad. I had some control, so I put out ice storm and blizzard as often as possible to slow Lts down and held the commandos. Then I alternated debuffs on Night and Siege to pace the HP. Thankfully, there was just a couple deaths, so I was able to rez folks. And yup, the 17 toon league managed to pull thru.
As for the trials being tough, I still need to do it on my squishies and although it does get rough in some areas, it's not a faceplant factory. There does seem a lot more melee folks broadcasting and I notice that the league leaders often have to reserve the last 3 spots for support.
In terms of coordination, I was on a 24 man BAF around 1 AM-ish last night. A lot of prisoners were escaping on this BAF. I hunted around the exits and found that 1 exit had no coverage. So I agree that coordination is important.
