  1. Title: Anger Management: The Trials of a Council General
    Arc ID: 286535
    Creator’s Global Name: @Austara
    Mission Count: 3

Story – From the title I was expecting humor, but that was not the case. Basically, you repeatedly hunt down a council boss that somehow gets away each time you catch him. The motivations assigned to the character playing the arc did not feel right and there were a few too many "give mes" for my taste. 3.0 Stars

Fun Level – Reasonably fun, though the last mission was what I call "go make a sandwich". 3.5 Stars

Playability – Perfect up till the last mission where I had six bosses "helping" me. I stood back and just watched the last EB get the snot beat out of him. 3.5

Polish – Overal nicely polished with nice customs, good bios, interesting dialog and text most any where it could be inserted. I do need to minus .5 a star because all of the customs were in the group "NPCs". 4.5 stars

    Overall Rating – 3.6 Stars

Let’s up it to 11! – Separate your NPCs into proper groups, get rid of the silly dancing animation from the Council guarding stuff, the six helpers are way overkill so either remove most of them or make them non-combat or make them Lts., revisit your story and punch it up.

  2. Definitively! You just need to play most of the Dev's Choice arc which almost exclusively come from closed beta when people were just learning the tools available and compare them to any of the "hot" arc" discussed here. Also, the 1000's of "make an arc with my favorite character set to extreme to try this new MA stuff out" have stopped. I just wish there was a way to clear out the 10,000 of thousands of these test type arcs.

    3 missions
Notes - Lots of fire customs and a couple re-colors, one EB just a notch above standard difficulty, with no defensive powersets.

Story – 4.5 stars - I would call this arc a horror/drama with a lot of atmosphere. It was clear, easy to follow and engaging.

Fun Level – 4.5 stars - Enjoyable throughout though the healing minions were a little annoying.

Playability – 5 stars - No complaints here.

Polish – 5 stars - Very polished arc loaded with details pretty much any place you can put them.

Let’s up it to 11! –My one minor story detraction was finding out the final big bad's background before meeting them. Them revealing it themselves or maybe some more details might be more dramatic.

Overall Rating – 4.75 stars - Highly Recommended!

  4. Well it is looking like Wrong Number’s Ha Ha Hut has dried up on reviews so it is time to roll out my other review thread idea. I have always preferred playing shorter arcs and three of my current arcs are three missions and under. So, without further ado…..introducing Wrong Number’s Short and Sweet.

    What to expect:

    1) Your arc will be graded on the detailed explanation below.

    2) When I rate an arc I generally never give less than stars 3 for anyone that makes a real effort even if they fall way short.

    3) If you are looking for a long detailed blow by blow review of your arc you will be disappointed if you submit it here. My reviews will be short and sweet . I am in awe of reviewers like PW or MCM who do extremely detailed reviews, but I know myself and I would never be able to maintain that level of review for long.

    What you need to do:

    1) Play any of my arcs below. Whatever strikes your fancy. Note - If you have already played all of my arcs and it has been more than a month please pick one to replay. I am constantly updating and improving them(hopefully!).

    Trademark Infringement (2220)
    Death to Disco (84420)
    In Poor Taste (259920)
Have a Blap, Blap, Blappy Day Kids! (2019)

    2) Send me feedback in game and then post your request in the format below. You do not need to write a review of my arc though if you feel so inclined feel free to comment under the thread for that arc, that would be great.

    Eligibility

    1) Your submission needs to be between 1-3 missions.
    2) No Defeat Alls unless it is a very small map.
    3) Humor arcs should still be submitted to Wrong Number’s Ha Ha Hut .

    Request Format

    Title: (Arcs Name)
    Arc ID: (Arc Number)
Creator’s Global Name: (Your Global ID)
Mission Count: (Total number of missions in the arc)
Notes – (Anything special I should know about this arc)

    Rating Format and Explanation

Story – Is there a story? Does it make sense? Is it original?

Fun Level – Was it fun? Did I enjoy my time playing it or was I dragging myself through it preying for it to end? Was I engaged?

Playability – Are the characters balanced? Are they level appropriate? Do I have to spend 30 minutes looking for the last glowie?

Polish – Do the customs have bios? Do the big bads have dialog? Are there clues? Does the arc have a souvenir? How do the customs look?

Let’s up it to 11! – My recommendations for improvements.

Overall Rating – Would I recommend it and the arcs final star rating.

    Title: Silver Aged
    Arc ID: 280017
    Creator’s Global Name: @Lazorman
    Mission Count: 4
Notes – A tongue-in-cheek look at a retired 'Silver-Age' style hero who must contend with his greatest threat yet: the modern world (with a little help from you!). Inspired by the changing trends in comic history.

Thank you for taking the time to play!

Lowdown – So I need to help some retired hero? Good thing I always love "seasoned" characters as they present all sorts of opportunities for humor (I am in fact working on an arc featuring a retired sidekick). This arc is very well crafted and laced throughout with humor. The story will keep you hooked and the briefings are aesthetically pleasing. My minor nitpicks are that some of the non-boss level customs could be more interesting in appearance.

Funny Level – Humorous to Very Humorous

Fun Level - A fun roller coaster ride that will surprise you that it over already even though it is four missions.

Let’s up it to 11! – The minions in the first mish can use a little snazzing up. Silversteak seems a bit too spry for an old guy (He is an EB). I feel you could get more comedy mileage if he was a lot weaker. Many of the patrols in the 3rd mish have no dialog. (These are all nitpicks btw)

Overall Rating – A very solid arc with many levels of comedy through out. Highly recommended.

    Title: Whack a Mole
    Arc ID: 2711
    Creator’s Global Name: @Bubbawheat
    Mission Count: 1

Lowdown – This 5 minute (yes, 5 minutes max!) arc is very clever and simple in it's concept. The idea is that you are using the MA as a cheap carnival game where you have just 5 minutes to whack five moles.

Funny Level – While I loved the concept and thought it was a fun idea, the humor was not there.

Fun Level - One of those boardwalk games you just know you are going to win if you play it one more time.

Let’s up it to 11! – I would make a custom carnival barker contact and give them typical carnie speak. The Moles are crying out for some funny lines (not to be mole-icious, but but come on!)

Overall Rating – This arc was more of a challenge arc, it did have a nice concept that could easily have humor injected into it. It would not take too much time to really make this arc funny. That is as long as Bubbawheat does not write slow as mole-assess.

    @Cain Lightning says:
Story Flow: This arc needs a bit of fine tuning regarding the text. Having said that, the story was still funny and easy to follow. As an advent fan of rock and roll, it made completing this story even more enjoyable. I really loved the mob and boss info. It cracked me up! Dr Disco Fever had a deep and enjoyable background. 4.5 Stars

    @LAMIKE says:
Visual Pop: I thought the costumes were appropriate for the setting, and aside from the Crey, clever. The cool retro throwback outfits of the various musical factions (rocker, rapper, pop star, etc.) were visual pleasures. The NPC dialogue was very funny. I found myself laughing out loud from beginning to end. The last map annoyed me, but I got over when I started reading the custom text. 4 Stars

    @Pankrator says:
Fun Factor: Heh. Funny story arc. I really enjoyed all of the comedic elements, such as smashing the disco cassettes and taking down Dr Disco Fever. Rock on! Nice custom power selection. All of the powers fit the names well, with the Diva being my favorite. Ditch the Crey, and place your custom mob into the first mission. I’d rather rescue the “peanut farmer” from them, than the Crey. I think the contact added a lot to my enjoyment. He reminded me of an old rocker friend from back in the day. 4 Stars
I was away on vacation and was happy to see my review when I returned. Thanks all. My comments:

@LAMIKE says:"This arc needs a bit of fine tuning regarding the text." - I am not sure what you meant with this statement. It has been a long time since anyone has found a typo or grammar issue that needed addressing.

@Pankrator says:"Ditch the Crey, and place your custom mob into the first mission." - There are two issues with doing that. 1) The Disco Nation did not exist in 1977 which is when that first mission takes place. It is only because you thwart Dr. Disco Fever's plan during that mission that he begins to assemble them with the hopes of stopping the Disco Demolition (see wikipedia for actual event details) which takes place two years later. 2) I am at 99% on space used on the arc.

Again, thanks all for the great reviews.

  11. My husband has, at least for me, the best analogy for the current rating system. He compares it to the costume and bio contests we often see in Atlas Park. How many times have you scratched your head at the winners and wondered what possible factors went in to the judging to get that result? My personal favorites in my 5+ years in CoX:

    - A female character dressed in a black basic top and skirt winning a cc because the judge reasoned "I like Goth chicks".

    - A bio contest winner whose bio read "Steve Houston, a man barely alive. We can rebuilt him. We have the technology. We can make him better, stronger, faster."

It is all in what the judge knows and likes be it a 40+ year old woman who is well read or a 9 year old boy that won't even pick up a comic book. The votes of each player, no matter their background carry the same weight.

...Didn't get the comment/rating screen on any of the arcs so will have to go back and try to do them solo. Is this a new bug, btw? Cause it never happened to me before.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This happens all the time and I think it happens most often if the team leader does not wait to talk to the contact until everyone has exited the mission. Also, it happens 100% if the leader rates the arc and clears the window before others exit.

I was happy to get my arc's played a few weeks back, but very disappointed that even with three teams my Have a Blap, Blap, Blappy Day arc got a couple votes and Death to Disco! got maybe 8 votes.

Since I have a new arc I might as well list it here.

    Name: In Poor Taste
    Arc ID: 259920
    Creator Global Name: @Wrong Number
    Difficulty Level: Average
Synopsis: Ever done a radio mission and pondered what the devs were thinking when they named the boss? Should these guys be out on the streets? Ms. Manners doesn't think so and she needs your help to round up the worst of the worst starting with a boss named Manhandle. It only goes down hill from there.
    Number of EB/AVS – 0
    Story Type - Humor
    Mission Count: 3
Estimated Time to Play: 30 minutes or less
Note - All of the boss names are actual names created by the devs.

MA MONDAY NOTE - DO NOT run this arc at level 1 diff unless you want all the bosses to be LTs. My missions are designed to scale for everyone so that lower level or ATs that have a hard time soloing and want to solo it can. I got burned with a 1 star on Trademark Infringement because "there was no text or anything". In fact every place there can be text there is including even personal bios/dialog for each individual hostage. At diff 1, some just blew right past it all missing all the humor.

    WN
  13. Yeah, it happens all the time. I once cashed in merits and was thrilled to get a level 33 LotG +RC. About 3 minutes later, mapserved to a time before I cashed in. Worse part, I got a Pacing of the Turtle instead .

    Trademark Infringement - 100% Custom

Death to Disco! - Mish 1 is Crey with custom boss, mish 2 is 100% custom

Have a Blap, Blap, Blappy Day Kids! - 4 missions, that ramp up to all custom by the last mission.

About "being a challenge". This as a requirement to me is awfully random. Unless you design a mission for a very narrow level and AT it will be hard for some and easy for others. As an example in 450 plays of Trademark Infringement I have had one complaint of the boss being the "hardest boss I have ever fought". The boss is a fire tank and it turned out the player used a fire/fire blaster.

Anyways, pick one of the above that most interests your group. Thanks!

    WN
  15. Cap,

Thanks much for the great review of In Poor Taste! I corrected the one typo and added the missed comma. It is interesting that you liked two of the last mission bosses as it seems many have favorites, but Manhandle sticks out as the clear leader.

@Jarissa : Feedback on Architect Mission Have a Blap, Blap, Blappy Day Kids!: The almost-creepy thing is that, about twelve years ago, our tabletop group's GM ran us through a very similar adventure -- except it was Big Bird, whose performer was being held hostage while the costume was used by a new Supervillain to qualify for villain team membership. Good one-liners in your arc!

    Death to Disco!

    Mini update

    - Changed President Carter's look slightly. I got a a few mentions of Carter not having solid gray hair. I am guessing the mentions come mostly from youngins that don't recall his time in office. He actually had mostly sandy colored hair which rapidly turned all gray (most assumed it was the stress of the Iran hostage affair, the gas crisis and the poor stat of the economy), In any case, I made his hair more gray and changed the color of his jacket (I decided that the green he had looked too much like WW employee jackets).

    - I update the souvenir to include information so that players can easily find my other arcs.

    WN
  21. All of mine listed in my sig are comedy based. Trademark is a one shot, Disco is a 2 mish arc, Poor Taste or 3 and Blappy is 4 mission. Warning, like the Dev missions mine will spawn Lts. instead of bosses if you play on Heroic. So considering your group, you may want to crank the difficulty up a few notches.

Except it isn't. It is different for the MA, but as Venture pointed out, they already did this on Buffy, right down to the "which scenario is more plausible?" dialogue.

Forgot about that one, but you are correct. I thought of the DS9 episode that was a very similar plot. I am not sure which of those came first, but I know I saw the DS9 one first myself and thought Buffy ripped the idea off. Actually, I think this plot may have been a Twlight Zone or Outer Limits, but can't swear to it.

In any case, it was very well executed and enjoyable.

    Mission Count: 2
Notes – Designed for brand new heroes. This was play tested on a level 2 fresh out of Outbreak. It's intended to be something simple and fun for lowbies to get their feet wet with. Also, the second mission was supposed to be on a 45 minute timer, but timed hostage missions are bugged in I15, so it's untimed for now. (Make sure you read the "still busy" text)

Lowdown – This two mission arc is designed for new heroes levels 1-14 and it stays true to that level range while still being fun and playable (In my experience many that claim to be low level are too hard). The basic premise is that Ms Liberty has a simple task for you to perform for her, but we all know it never is that simple. The writing on this arc is very solid, it features good dialog, clear clues and your role in the story is clearly defined. The 45 minute timer the author intends for the second mission of this arc would fit in perfectly.

    Funny Level – Mildly Humorous

Fun Level - Your first time at a new video arcade!

Let’s up it to 11! – Have Statesman show up after the second mission is over.

Overall Rating – A mildly humorous, but very fun low level mission that is a must play.
