I sincerely apologize for the following arc. My husband insisted I make it when I struck upon the idea after playing a paper mission that had a particularly questionably named boss. Remember, you were warned.

Name: In Poor Taste
Arc ID: 259920
Creator Global Name: @Wrong Number
Difficulty Level: Average
Synopsis: Ever done a radio mission and pondered what the devs were thinking when they named the boss? Should these guys be out on the streets? Ms. Manners doesn't think so and she needs your help to round up the worst of the worst starting with a boss named Manhandle. It only goes down hill from there.
Number of EB/AVS – 0
Story Type - Humor
Mission Count: 3
Estimated Time to Play: 30 minutes or less
Note - All of the boss names are actual names created by the devs.

After Citizen Razor's awesome review I went back and made some changes including:

- Corrected a few typos

- Modified the firs clue to reflect some of the final bosses names.

- Added Ms. Manners optional ally to the last mishes nav bar info.

In Poor Taste, #259920, @Wrong Number

Having written a humor arc that I'd like to have Wrong Number review, I'll review this arc in return. The mission introduction refers to another arc, Trademark Infringement, as a prequel. I struggled a bit with that arc, it was early days (on Test) and I have limited knowledge of DC comics. So I'll just start this one fresh.

There are 3 unique maps for a level 30-40 hero. That's a lot of unique maps, but the concern didn't hold, good choice of maps. My motive here is to round up villains with poorly-chosen names for Ms. Manners. This seems a bit... skimpy... to begin with, but okay. Later I'll find dialog to be a greater crime.

Weal the level 38 empathy/electric defender takes on the task at heroic level 1.

So I'm off to Get a Grip. The forecast is... hrm. I imagine this is the Manhandle from the Arc Description. Oh man, the pop-up, the nav choice of verb... I think the arc should be imprisoned, not the villain. Zapping a few baddies to warm up using this toon, I encounter the villain's dialog. Ugh. With the emphasis on "log". And I realllllly hope his description is not the game's default.
He does go down quickly though. I guess that might have been expected, female architect. Unfortunately, I did then read his dialog. So horrid, the architect must be male...
(I don't suppose you could convince the map to put him at the back? On my second run on this he was at the front door).

Mission 2, and I'm beset by puns. An interesting map, at least for me. I think I've only seen it once before in AE missions. The humor has shifted 180 degrees, and not in a pleasant way. I'm left wondering what liberties the architect has taken, and how twisted CoH already was.

Then into Mission 3. And rather than chance the third guy being a little less funny, we're going to have a climax. Multiple ones. Hoo boy. One beat joke is funny. Two beat jokes is getting old. Three or more is funny again, for the sheer desperation of these villains. It's like they think they can offend me to death! It's fun to hit them with endurance sapping electricity.

I liked this arc a lot. It ran the line between double and single entendre pretty close, but in the end, it was a barrage. With baddies this ludicrous, how could anyone complain. Seriously. 5-stars!

M2 Boss: chesse -> cheese
M2 Two patrols tell the same joke (smart feller) - might want to come up with an extra joke there.
M2 Exit pop-up: breath -> breathe
M3 Weasel: shrinkage needs a period on the end
M3 Bone shaker: In -> in

Arc: 379017: Outbroken See all your old friends in the Outbreak Tutorial sequel!
Arc: Coming Soon: The Incarnate Shadow Shard of Fire and Ice Mender Rednem needs you!

Rules of humor:

#1: If it's funny, repeat it until it isn't.
#2: If it isn't funny, repeat it until it is.

I think I need to play this arc. Manhandle always struck me as just plain wrong.

And for a while things were cold,
They were scared down in their holes
The forest that once was green
Was colored black by those killing machines

Airhead,

Thanks for the great review and for the typos you caught. The "In" in Bone Shaker's dialog though is purposeful since it is always preceeded by "Your". Think about it

Ran this as a level 37 Storm/Dark Defender on Heroic (The bolding of Storm will help you figure out the screenshot below).

This is a short and fun 3 mission arc that is, as the title proclaims, in poor taste. I don't think anything crosses the line as far as PG-13 goes, but I'm sure my lines are different from other's lines. The first mission sets things up with a very small map with the boss just bursting to get whacked right near the entrance.

The second mission is a similar setup as the first mission, though with a different direction of poor taste. I had to drop an air freshener in my Steamy Mist to help with the smell, though I'm not quite sure it worked the way that I had hoped. See below:

Anyway, I blew him away and as much of the smell as I could send with him. I knew I should have taken Tornado, I need much stronger winds than just Gale to get rid of all of it.

And the final mission is an amalgam of Bosses from here and there, all returning to the first mission's direction of poor taste humor, though none of them were very hard enough to last long enough for my character's tastes. Our contact, Miss Manners was there as well to help teach those naughty bosses a thing or two. The map choice was great with all of the small rooms to help give each boss their own section.

All in all, I had a lot of fun with it, and there was nothing too hard for my solo defender to take out. Play it today!

I am honored (I NEVER thought I would use that word when talking about this arc!) that In Poor Taste was selected as the Best Comedy Arc in the 2009 Mission Architect Player Awards.

This arc was not even really my idea. It was born one afternoon doing paper missions in Sharkhead when I was teamed with my husband and one of my sons. We pulled Manhandle as the boss for a mission and I spent most of the time we were playing it riffing jokes and innuendo type comments about his name. I said in an offhand way that I bet I could make an entire arc just from the off-color names the Dev's had let slip into the game. This comment was followed by both of them insisting I write the arc. I was really reluctant, but my husband even said that if I did not do it, he would. That spurred me into action.

This adventure of writing the arc had me researching farting, pooping and other off-color jokes which was something (big surprise) I had never done. I had a pretty good arsenal of them already having raised two boys (they are 18 and 20 now). I have to say that it was an education though.

I guess it is kind of ironic that this arc, of all my arcs won this honor considering I never thought the idea would fly. So, thanks to everyone who has played it, who nominated it and who voted for it.

I don't like cream cheese. It is too heavy/fatty and clings to the back of my throat.

A co-worker once was raving about Honey Nut Cream Cheese spread, but I told him I do not like cream cheese. He told me I had to try this, because it was so very different than cream cheese and even if I did not like cream cheese, I would probably love this.

I like Kraft products normally, so one day I worked up the nerve and tried it. I did not like because it was too heavy/fatty and clung to the back of my throat like cream cheese.

Maybe this story demonstrates that I should not have tried something I probably would not like. Perhaps, it demonstrates that people will occasionally give something they may not like a chance, in case it transcends the norm for that type of product. Maybe it shows that if someone trusts the creator of a product, they may be willing to try stuff that creator does that falls outside of their normal purview.
