  1. His suit is based off the more modern "New 52" look for Superman, found in the pic below. I agree, I think he could have used a belt to segment his torso from his legs, but as big a fan as I am for the "classic" look... I actually am glad they ditched the briefs. The

  2. Bill brings up some excellent, and prudent, points.

Further, people clothed in similar garb to the Syndicate have been seen unescorted in the facility as well, yet their weaponry was clearly not used by other Syndicate members. I was under the impression that archery weapons were forbidden by Praetor Sinclair, and energy weapons were forbidden given their association with the Resistance. Is this no longer the case, or should these individuals be stopped and escorted from the premises?

I don't think anything is wrong with expressing that you don't like the design, not everyone has the same tastes and you are bound to have people dislike the design. Telling people how they should express their dislike when they are not breaking the rules comes off as control freakish, might want to dial that back a bit or not....

"If" the devs decide they don't/won't do another loyalty program so be it, I don't think people not liking the design of the helms is the people's fault they just have different tastes and take no "blame" for dev decisions about what is offered for a loyalty program if anything.

The players had zero participation in the design of the helms so it is no different than the hit and miss of any other costume item, some like it some don't which is nothing new in this area.
First, let me say that I appreciate the civility Also, I COMPLETELY agree that the publicizing of these rewards, the time constraints, etc. has been a botched job, at best.

To be brief: I would not presume to tell anyone how to respond, hence my use of the word "suggest." I apologize if it came off that way. But telling the Devs "this sucks" or "you're better than this" accomplishes nothing but letting them know that we are displeased with what they are offering. I simply suggest telling them why it sucks, and offering ideas of how it could have been better, in order to give them a better idea of how to appeal to their customer base in the future.

This is a more blunt way of expressing my other point. Many of us would have remained subscribed for this whole time regardless of the loyalty rewards.

I doubt anyone on the fence about remaining subscribed would have chosen to do so for four months based simply on the fact that they would get a badge, a costume change emote, a pet, and a couple of costume extras. More likely, they were remaining subscribed to have free access to the Dark power sets, or to Masterminds/Controllers/EATs, or perhaps did not want to lose out on IOs.

These rewards are for loyalty. Obviously, many players (myself included) would not view these, alone, as reasons to stay subscribed. The rewards are a way for the studio to say "thanks for continuing to play," or "thanks for continuing to pay us," however you choose to view it. In either case, the nature of the rewards is gratitude, and as such, it seems petty and ungrateful to offer anything less than objective feedback.

Objective feedback on the items, that is. The marketing of this still plain sucked
  4. Personally, I am going to reserve judgement until I see the pieces for myself, on characters I create. I can only suggest everyone else do the same. While I am all for giving feedback, we should be sure to direct our feedback towards specific groups, and keep it objective.

Let us remember: these are loyalty rewards. They are giving us stuff simply for continuing to pay to play. They do not have to do this since, thanks to the hybrid business model, the argument could be made that our "loyalty" is rewarded by anything we get for free (as VIPs) in issue releases. If you are not pleased with the rewards, then do as you do when you receive an undesired gift from your grandmother: smile, say thank you, and then ignore it after that.

I would hate for next year to roll around and for people to be asking about an absent loyalty rewards program, only for us to get the response: "We did not receive enough positive feedback last year to warrant devoting developing time to loyalty rewards this year."
  5. +1 for giving new sets a break for just one issue and really bringing the old sets up to standard.
  6. One man's trash is another man's treasure, and all that.

I for one had 2010 paragon points, all accumulated stipend, sitting in my account. I bought the 5-pack of the character slots, because that, to me, is a great sale. Honestly, I hope this sale brings in a lot of purchases, because I would love to see them more.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: if there's one thing that will get me to spend on things that I do not need immediately, but could conceivably use in the future, it is a sale. I don't need 5 more character slots, as I am still sitting on 3 empty slots on my main server, but I know that I could have use of them in the future, so may as well buy them while they are on sale.

I don't need, nor currently have a concept for, Street Justice, but mark that down to 600pp (or less) for a week, and I would probably purchase it. That goes for a lot of costumes as well actually. So as much as I enjoy saving my money: Sales are a win!
  7. Looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I have 3.5 characters ahead of my forthcoming staff fighting character in my "To Be Played" queue. Excited for it nevertheless! (Yes, I have succumbed to focusing my attention, more or less, on one character at a time, to avoid rapid burnout.)
  8. "Spend all of your stipend points so that you have to purchase points once we actually release Staff Fighting."

At least, that's the subliminal message I receive from this. They made me a liar by not releasing Staff Fighting this week.

That said, I think this week accomplishes one very important thing: MICROtransactions.

This may be the first week I actually buy something for which I have no immediate use, because 10 bucks for 5 character slots is a damn good deal.
  9. Bit of a slower night last night, but I am thinking that was thanks to the Easter holiday. I hope those who were not in attendance were enjoying the time with friends and family. It also seems like a busy time of year for people. Last night was the first chunk of play time I have had in over a week! And from those that I have talked to, I guess I am not the only one. Here's hoping we pick up again over the next couple weeks!

    Up...wait for it... dated!
  10. Black Pebble has stated April 18th as the reward date. As long as you kept an active account for the required dates, that is apparently the day on which we will receive the rewards. Since rewards are often awarded at different times throughout the day, I would not worry about not receiving your rewards until the 19th. Then if you are still without, a ticket can be filed with CS.
  11. We need a screenshot of him doing the "big wave" emote! Well played, PleaseRecycle.

I would not be exclusively using the snipe, I would be slotting all of the attacks up with range. That said though, this is looking more and more like the ends will not justify the means.

    This.

I find myself in a much better mood, and much more productive, when I just check the forums once or twice a day, mainly skimming for any rumor topics, or checking out the Community and Dev Digests for important info. Oh sure, there are plenty of topics that call for my attention, but discipline is the key. I take a deep breath, and step away from the internet!

The mythical creature you're looking for is a Manticore.

Manticore: Body of a lion, variable head (human, cat, mix between the two) tail of a scorpion, and typically large bat-like wings.

Chimera: Body and head of a lion, second head of a goat, tail of a serpent.

And despite all the rage over the continued use of the four-legged rig, I must remind you all: we will most likely be receiving the Panther Stealth travel power some time in the coming weeks.

Heh, no pardon necessary, there have been so many topics and posts on this subject today, it is easy to overlook key info like that link. And it seems more than one person needed that link, so it needed to be posted anyway.

Though, I have my hypotheses as to why they're delaying it.

    * In one of the UStreams, Zwillinger/Synapse said something along the lines of *recently* having a new melee set (Street Justice) so they wanted to spread it out a bit more, which may be the reason why they released Beast Mastery first even though Staff Fighting seemed largely done when we were able to test it on Beta. (It still upset me that they released a set that they said nothing about in Pummit in Fall 2011.)

    * The Marketing team wants to, of course, make money off of Beast Mastery as much as they can. So they're trying to hold off as much as they can.

Again, if my suspicions are correct, I would love for a RED NAME to confirm this. Or even deny it and give us a reason as to why they're delaying it. I personally don't care that they delay it (within reason) but someone in PS should speak up and tell us WHY. We've known about the powerset since it was leaked in July 2011 and was confirmed at Pummit in November. Really, this is the reason why I've been raging. :\
Zwillinger addressed the reasoning before you even posted this.

Actually, I think it would work fine. Those who do not frequent the forums probably are not concerned with finding out info as soon as it is publicized, so they would care less about when something is to be released. Plus, word of mouth is easy in this game, with global/server-wide communications. I think there are enough people who frequent the forums that the word would spread easy enough. It would save you guys a huge headache.
  18. Heh, "lively" is one way to put it. Nice to see confirmation from a red name that many of our attempts to explain Staff's absence were true.

Very Soon. I called April 10th!

    Badges and RP

    I do this.

But mostly only with specific, notable badges, that I have to strive to obtain. (You can avoid an accolade power easily, but to avoid an exploration badge is a lot tougher.)

The most obvious example I have is my character as part of the Vanguard. His loyalty is to Vanguard alone, and therefore I did not take the Freedom Phalanx Reserve accolade.

I too am disappointed that beast mastery did not get a male lion and most of all that staves are not available once again. And to those that decide to quote my post in an attempt to defend the devs/producers save it for another time.
Asking them to save it won't save you!

To answer your question about the re-posted items: they have done that since the beginning. It is just a reminder of the last couple things to hit the market, nothing more.
  21. Objective feedback on the pets:
-The pets look very good. Very nice job on the detailing.
-There is no reason for the scorpion tail on the liger. If you are going to make a manticore pet, call it a manticore.
-Thank you for giving them some size variation, though there could have been a little bit more.

As for subjective feedback: I think vanity pets are a waste of time. I know you cannot release a new power or power set every week, but I think the one-off costume pieces were a much better idea. On that front, I will simply paraphrase myself from a few weeks ago:

The Fireman's Helmet and Pilgrim's Hat probably did not sell that well because of their specificity. There are only so many ways to use those except as what they are. I suggest releasing one-off costume items that are non-specific, but highly usable.

    -An actual motorcycle-style helmet
    -A redesigned trench coat
-Travel-power activated costume pieces (like a Rocket Boots variation with boosters in different locations, with a different colored exhaust).

Hell, release a generic one-off jet pack that activates when a Flight power is activated, price it reasonably, and I guarantee it will sell. (Yes, I'm aware both jet packs coming with the Retro Sci-Fi pack are generic looking or have a generic looking option.)"

  23. I have not experienced this problem.

Does it continue to persist when you log into the affected characters? By that I mean, have you logged into the characters since the last couple patches? Perhaps one may have fixed the problem?

If you have, perhaps you could let us know what Customer Service has advised you to do already, so that we don't end up repeating information?
  24. This would be a worthwhile attempt to bring PvP back to the game. Though I personally would not participate in it, that does not discount its merit. There's TONS of stuff in the game that I don't play/use, but that I still acknowledge as awesome.

Although, to fight in a Colosseum-inspired arena with my Shield/SS tanker might be too good of an opportunity to pass up...

It shouldn't. If memory serves, Black Pebble said there was about a 24-48 hour grace period for a lapsed account to re-sub before they would be excluded from the loyalty rewards. So as long as you cancelled and re-subbed right away, you should be fine.
