Quote:The most practical solution is to compromise and get them all.I would say that, unless shape-changing is very important to your character concept, the Martial Arts booster is your best bet. Ninja Run is an awesome travel power and it unlocks at level 4.
First, get the Architect edition. You will have a choice of the Magic Booster or the Super Science Booster (but not the Martial Arts pack). And that will effectively cost you negative $5 ($20 minus the $15 worth of game time, minus the $10 booster that is included). Then go ahead and purchase the Ninja pack while you are at it.
Then when you are ready for more, purchase the Mac edition which will again ultimately cost negative $5 ($20 minus $15 game time minus the $10 Valkyrie pack), and then treat yourself to whichever other $10 booster you didn't get with the AE.
Ah, and almost forgot to recommend the GvE version as well. If you shop carefully, you can score that one for effectively a negative amount like the others. -
Quote:Costumes can be changed at tha tailor in not only Steel and Cap, but also Independence Port and Founders Falls for Heroes, St. Martial for villains, or Pocket D or the Vanguard Base for either.A lot of good newbie advice there.
A few things I didn't see in the list, or which bear repeating, are:
You change your costume at either Icon in Steel Canyon (hero) or the Facemaker in Cap au Diable (villain).
Be sure to do the police scanner missions in KR between levels 5-9, and again from 10-14, to get some temporary travel powers. They're worth it. (If you're playing a villain, they'll come naturally from doing paper missions followed by a successful bank robbery.)
And as for the temp travel powers, you can get the Raptor Pack from the vendor in Grandville or Firebase Zulu for 10,000 inf without having to get to level 5 first. 10,000 inf is easy to make, as long as you saved your tutorial enhancements and inspirations. And both Grandville and FBZ are pretty easy to get to thanks to the ability to swim without being pounded on by high level foes along the way.
I would still recommend doing the King's Row Safeguard though at level 10, since the Zero G pack is pretty cool to have anyway. At least if you outlevel the bank missions, you can still do them if you are teamed up with someone else who has them, and still get the temp powers. -
Of course, that is pretty much a nonissue nowadays. Heroes can take down all the Contaminated they need during the Ouroboros Initiation to get Isolator. And Villains simply can't get Isolator no matter how many times they take down the one Contaminated in RV anyway.

Since debt is not a really big deal, they need to implement some more serious penalty for being defeated. Perhaps they could have some random civilians gather around you and /em teabag, for instance. That would be a good motivator to not faceplant.

Back before we could turn off XP and before flashback, I used debt to keep from outleveling certain badge and temp power missions.

Quote:It is faster because if you are doing your aura mission right at 30, most of the groups of Freaks and Crey you will encounter in CF are going to be huge spawns with several red or purple bosses or lieutenants among them. And even the minions may be orange or red to you at that point. How is that any faster than going into Crey's Folly and doing all of that in one single zone? Freaks and Crey abound and Monkeys for Rikti and Swarms for DE. Easy, breezy, beautiful... Covergirl. Oh wait. Wrong punchline. I meant and Robert is your mother's brother.
Again, Crey's Folly is your best friend.
Quote:-If you haven't yet acquired an Ouro portal by level 30 blueside, Holsten Armitage's mission (Science store) will grant it to you. -
Quote:This only works if it is a generic Defeat X mission and not Defeat X in Zone/Neighborhood Y. Also, if you have a Defeat X number of Rikti mission. The Midnighter arc will not work for this, as the only Rikti that would count are Ci'Dian and anything summoned by Comm Officer. Everything else in those missions, if you are high enough level to get Rikti instead of Lost, are seen as Lost. For new players:
* Doing Radio/Newspaper missions with the same foes as a "Defeat X amount" count towards them in that mission. (this is good for the costume slot missions)
Quote:What missions would these be? With Safeguard/Mayhem missions, you have to go to the Exploration Badge location to get it.
Multidimensional (from Tina Macintyre's Visit the Hydra Dimension... Or as someone else mentioned, from one of Unai Kemen's missions)
Shrouded (From either Maria Jenkins and her Stop Nightstar's Ritual mission, or Steve Sheridan's Stop the Next Rikti Assault mission).
Another entry for this list:
If you have a purchased Raptor Pack at the time you complete your first Atlas Park bank mission, you will not be awarded the Raptor Pack upon completion. (It may still be possible to get it though next time you do an Atlas mission provided your purchased pack has either expired or been deleted. Can't confirm or deny this though myself.) -
OpenOffice Calc to keep track of characters on each server (AT/Primary/Secondary/Pools/Epic/Patrons/Current Level/Bars to Next Level/Where Logged Out/Inf)
That is just the first worksheet in the spreadsheet. I also keep other worksheets for what bank missions they have done, what Day Jobs they have (and what one is currently being worked on), and assorted badges by type (though that one is someone out of date). -
I've found female dragons pretty easy to do. Here is my standard look:
The key to getting her to look proper is in the tweaking of the facial scales:
The biggest problem, of course, is the really limited options for clothes, and the fact that it is pretty much impossible to get the color of the wings to match the skin color. -
Woo Hoo! Half way there. Go Smurph Go! Raa-raa-raa.
Just one bit of advice.
Whatever you do, do not set the Undefeated badge as your title. Once you do, you will faceplant within 3 levels. -
Quote:I never really thought about it before. But for some odd reason, this time when I read that, I am "hearing" cold as one adjective and "dark and dreary" as essentially a single superadjective (new me-ism).Quote:
You may often see a series with no comma after the next-to-last item, particularly in newspaper writing, as in The day was cold, dark and dreary.
Quote:Is that some strange way to say for all intents and purposes? I have never participated in an intensive purpose.
Quote:For me, and on an internet forum, I don't really bother with correcting people on spelling and grammar. -
I would put good money on the likelyhood that the base portal utilizes significant teleport code. So if that small area was port suppressed, the portal would not work.
-
Another phrase I occasionally see presented incorrectly:
For all intensive purposes. (I hate it when porpises gets misspelled).
Then there is the one word that no matter how properly it gets written is always spelled wrong, no matter what... -

Heh. Good list. But they left out some others (then again, if they had put them in, it would have no longer been a Top 10.
Retarded, not Retarted
Which, not wich
Ridiculous, not Rediculous
I know I had a bunch more, but of course, can't remember them at the moment. -
My villains' loyalty (in addition to themselves and their groups) are to the citizens of the Rogue Isles, not to Arachnos. But they go through the motions and do the 'All hail Arachnos...yaddayaddayadda' stuff just to keep up appearances.
There are several contacts I simply will not do, because they are just to scummy. However, for most missions, I can RP a somewhat heroic storyline and ending. I can even do that with the Deliver Citizens to the Vhaz mission. In that case, my villains, upon rescuing the citizens, coach them on how to react, and then are assured that our contacts in Paragon will come to their aid (also like to train the Longbow guys on the Vahz as well.)
Offer the Soul of Akarist? That is an easy one. After kidnapping him, I then replace Akarist with an inflatable Akarist...filled with Folgers Crystals (The Thornies can't tell the difference).
Bank robberies? Just like pro wrestling, those are staged.
Kidnappings? If the target is someone nice, then we are actually rescuing them, since they don't realize the true nature of whoever they are hanging with. If the target is a scumbag, well, whatever. /em shrug.
There are plenty of ways in the Rogue Isles to fight crime for fun and profit. Also, the overall theme for them is that they are making their way the only way they know how. That's just a little bit more than the law will allow. -
Just be aware that when you put on the hat, you lose the hair. Sadly, that makes the Santa Hat unusable for most of my characters.

Quote:Hopefully, every once in a while, one of the jokers would then call in a mission and level up on the end of mission bonus while doing jumping jacks just to show that it works.I remember years ago there was this huge group all under Atlas doing the jumping jack emote. They told everybody that if you went to a contact in Talos (who was not stationary, but walking around) he would give you a quest to do Jumping Jacks in Atlas and if you did you would level. It wasn't even April 1st.

If you do not want to wait until the 15 month reward, then it is well worth the $5 to pay for the Valkyrie Wings. Remember:
Mac Edition: $20.00 (includes everything in the items pack, plus...)
Free Month: $15.00 -
Total Price: $ 5.00
But if you do not wish to shell out the fiver for all that stuff, and don't want to wait until you get the 15 month reward, then the Cherub wings may tide you over until then...

Quote:I would not object to being able to slot Devastation: Chance for Hold into Fireball, Fire Breath, and Rain of Fire.Either that, or merge the ranged attack IO sets with the ranged AoE attack IO sets.
Those three examples, unfortunately, are most likely prime reasons such a set class merge would not happen. -

I'm sure that is fine for the last 3 levels of the character's career, but what about the majority of the character's time on patrol... Y'know, the first 46 levels, before you can slot level 50 IOs?
