The logic behind the PvP motivation right now is flawed.
I do agree with Sam on this aspect. It's not as bad on the COH side as COV where in order to obtain both the Marshall and Born in Battle accolades, along with the bonuses they provide, villains have to enter PvP zones just to get history and or exploration badges. Temp powers are one thing... If you don't want to take the risk to obtain them the solution is simple just don't go in there after them but the Accolade badges that award similar powers on the hero side don't require anyone to enter a PvP zone and fight to get an exploration badge or read a history plaque.

Sure there are ways around PvP battles if you want badges, plaques or even temp powers.. Form an 8 man team and go in after whatever you need or go in at times when the zone is pretty much unoccupied but finding 7 players that ALL want the Weapons of Mass Destruction badge or Shivan or Nukes at the same time can be difficult especially for a casual player. My schedule allows me to hit those zones at 3AM or 6AM my time when hardly anyone is one line but not everyone can do that just to avoid a PvP attack. While I am willing to accept the risk there are other players that are not and denying them access to an accolade isn't right.

Just taking Born in Battle as an example it already requires a Villain to take 1 million HP of damage, complete a Instance mission (Exterminator) and battle a GM (Ghost of Scrapyard) then to get the accolade you have to risk attack in Warburg, Bloody Bay and Siren's Call just to get exploartion badges and history plaques? This is the COV equivilent of the Portal Jockey Accolade hero side and while defeating 13 Praetorian AVs is no easy task the rest of the requirements for that badge don't require a hero to go near a PvP zone. Actually aside from the serious badge hunters that have to have them all there is no accolade that forces any hero to enter PvP. Somehow that doesn't seem fair .. NOT taking anything away from what heroes need to do versus villains but we are talking Accolades that most players want regardless of BLUE or RED side and making one side risk attack by other players in PvP to obtain that increase in End and HP while the other doesn't isn't right.

A temp power is a temp power and I am a bit of a temp power junkie but they aren't a mandatory item anyone HAS to obtain. You want Amy's Ward?.. do a KHTF. You want Warwolves?.. run mission in Striga. You want Nukes or Shivan? .. Risk the confines of the zone they are in but I don't think it's fair to force a player that has no desire to PvP to enter those zones to obtain an accolade.

Isn't it impossible to drop the Lady Jane one? I always do that one alone...with a team it's almost certain it will fail.[/QUOTE]

Actually unless they changes it yeah it is pretty much impoossible Lady Jande gives you one of the ingredients needed to craft the Lost Cure... Fail the mission and you still get that ingredient. Drop the mission and you don't so when you go to try and craft you are missing one vital elememnt. I had this happen to me ONCE and had several friends run into the same problem.

Recently though I've done that arc a few times on teams with great success. People tend to try to outrun the COT ambushes. These teams rescued Lady J and then stood fast and let every ambush come to them (unlike some missions there are 5 not 3 but they do end). At that point you can simply have the person Crazy Jane has latched onto wait there while the rest of the team clears a path to the glowie. Go back and escort her and at most she may aggro on one side mob if any at all. I even did this solo with one character recently and Jane and I handled the ambushes just fine.

The other way to succeed was described earlier.. If you have anyone that can stealth and TP leave Jane alone and go to the glowie and work back to her. Then you can easily outrun the ambushes and simply guide her to the glowie for a mission complete.

    For me, I auto-complete:

    - any mission in a CoT cave. Almost every mission in this game has an element of hide-and-seek to it; find the glowies, find the boss, find the hostage(s), etc. These caves just have way too many hiding places for me to find them fun.

    - bizarre objectives. There is a RWZ mission where there are mobs that attack you but you are not allowed to defeat them. Personally, I hate this concept. I never do that mission.

    - zone restricted kill x missions. If I'm told to take out 50 of something in a specific zone, it's very unlikely I'm gonna actually do it. If no zone is mentioned, then at least I can do a paper/radio mission and kill two birds at once.

    - some timed missions. Fortunately, with these, you can just ignore them and they time out to completion. I do most of them, but sometimes they just get sprung on you without warning, like when you cash in a quest and suddenly a timer is running on a new one. I'm looking at you Cimerora.

There used to be others (like most AV missions), but since we can now set our own difficulties, I don't feel the need to auto-complete very often.
    Pretty much the same list...

I absoluetly will not take a 7 level character into Perex Park to try and dfeat 10 COT.. that's not a mission it's suicide. At higher levels if you think I'm running around trying to find 50 of anything to defeat you are nuts! One exception these days when I do my 20 level costume mission instead of running around Steel getting low XPO I will head to Talos and earn good XP taking out Tsoo.. between that and the Cape mission I usually find myself half way of better to level 21. At 40, unless I don't have the option for 2-3 days, I auto complete before running to Crey's Folly after Nemesis. 30 Crey in Brickstown isn't too bad depending on the character but if I am playing a fairly squishy Defender I am NOT going into serious debt to earn a costume when i can click Auto complete in the Tailor and start designing my new outfit!

I know exactly how you feel about that "FOREMAN" mission in the RWZ. Without a stalker or a good ILL/ on the team that thing is next to impossible... And don't foregt Rikti Drones can see through even Supoerior Invisibility and Hide so even that can be iffy. Add any mission that requires X number of team mates because you HAVE to click X number of glowies at the same time to complete. These can be annoying on a team but totally impossible if I happen to be soloing. Of course most of them are timed missions so you ca't even auto complete you have to let the time run out before getting the next mission from the contact.

Add some of the FED EX missions to the list at least the ones that don't automatically give you a defeat X number of villains in ___ zone.. Like Talk to the Perez Park Security Cheif mission in Atlas Park (that one then sends you into Peres to defeat 10 COT..at levels as low as 7). If I have an auto complete available i will TRY to skip missions like "Talk to the Field Rep in King's Row" After 51 months playing the game I think I know where the reps are and what they allow me to do so I don't Need to run back there just to have it explained to me again!

Oh absoluletly.. Nothing says Freedom Fighter more than a well placed trip mine! Just ask the Cabal that ran into a trio of us AR/DEV Blasters during a KHTF. DURING the AV battle we were already laying mines for the next spawn. They'd arrived and HUGE bang went off and IF the Cabal were lucky some of the Lieutenants and the Bosses were still alive. LOL I know the Freakshow still hate my AR/DEV for all the mines I placed around the Reactor during the 2nd Respec. If they did manage to get near it they all suddenly found themselves flying through the air while we pounced on what was left of them!

The things most people complain about when they mention outdated content is either simplistically designed missions, time-wasting fed-ex missions or inordinately hard hunts. To that effect, there are a few things we can remove out of the game which should smooth out most of the truly major bumps.

    1. Contact introduction missions requiring you to visit the contact. Gone. We don't need these. Replace them with a standard contact introduction or with a "So and so has called for you!" pop-up.

    2. Security Chief missions. Leave those in the game for people who specifically hunt out Security Chiefs, but remove them from general missions circulation.

    3. PvP liaison missions. Either remove them, have the info accessible via Security Chief or via trainer, or have the contact himself explain about the zone, rather than forcing you to travel to them.

    4. Hero Corps Field Analyst visit. Remove those entirely and have the info available at trainers. Or better yet, make difficulty settings part of the tutorial, now that changes are free. Either that, or have a University-like special contact in Kings Row that pops up as soon as you come into the zone. Might not hurt to have one for Scanner/Paper missions, as well.

    5. Mission rewards. ALWAYS give rewards for missions, regardless of what they are. Go visit Jim Temblor? Mission reward. Go chat with the PvP liaison? Mission reward. Go speak with your next teacher in the university? Mission reward. These aren't repeatable, so why the hell do they give NOTHING? Grant standard mission complete bonus for all fed-ex missions (they currently grant half) so that people may view them as free experience, rather than a waste of time.

I realise there are a lot of other improvements that can be made to streamline everything, but all the others are more specific. Do this, and we'll get rid of the major, most obvious irritations. Then we can fix the rest mission-by-mission.
Signed totally and completely... Okay years ago when the game first arrived I suppose those GO TALK TO missions served as sort of a tutorial of course I can also remember the first time a contact in King's Row insisted I go talk to Dave Wincott. Never told told me I';d find Dave in the Hollows and of course I got no compass directing me to where DAVE was??? After about five minutes I asked in Braiodcast and someone explained I needed to RUN back to Atlas and then RUN to the Hollows gate just to click this guy.

I've got 4 years in game now and I think I know where the Hollows is. I am keenly aware that there are PvP zones and Field Reps where I can go and change the difficulty of my mission. I don't NEED to have to run to each rep with every new character I create before I can move on. When I am trying to coax the Spelunker mission out of a contact in Steel so I can work on my ATlas Medallion the last thing I want is to have to run back to King's Row so the Field Rep can tell me that i have the option to up or lower the difficulty of my missions.. I KNOW that so let me earn my badge in peace.

Fact is more and more i am following the same route as someone else here described.

Atlas Park.. 1-6 or 7 I hit the Sewers

King's Row 6-10 Radio missions for my Raptor pack

Steel Caynon 10-20 and if I can find a Positron and Syanpse TF.. use those and avoid all contacts except the Midnighter club arc so I have it out of the way long before 35 when I can enter Cimeroroa

20-30 Sister Psyche, Moonfire, Citadel and (if I can find one) Hess TF

30-35 Manticore TF, radio missions and any other TF I can get on now thanks to the SSK system.. Include the First respec in here since it awards merits and is done in about 1 hour

35-40 Numina (and now I have TF Commander) more radios and missions in the RWZ for Vangaurd Merits.. add the Second Respec for the same reason as I did the first

40-50 Av missions, thrid respec, radios the ITF, Kahn, States and Lady Grey TF.

I don't even bother worrying about contacts with badge missions anymore since I can do those through the Ouro potral and earn merits for doing them along with added badges for doing time travel missions.

I like Sam's idea of a Hero 101 University in Atlas and Galaxy that sits you down and says "Here's a Field rep click on her. Notice she will allow you to change the difficulty of your mission and even ask to includes bosses in all missions. Hey you can even request to fight an AV as an AV when you solo through her! Neat huh?" Next.. "Hi my name is Dave Wincott and I hang out in the Hollows. the Hollows is one of many Hazard/Trial zones you will find around the city. Look for the red dots on you mini map and go to the gate to enter. You won't find many contacts in these zones, in fact in some none at all, and they don't have stores or hospitals either (Dark Astoria and the new and improved Hollows aside) so if you enter be prepared. you are ON YOUR OWN!"

At that point a brand new player has a way to learn all the things he needs to know about the game and the rest of us can get on with the game and stop the mandatory running around just to actually get to content we have seen countless times before.

I don't mind a Fed EX mission in a TF when it fits into the plot of the story. I just raided a Council base for Citadel and now have information.. take that to _____ so he can analyze it and let me know what it means. But these mindless talk to missions that do nothing but slow us down need to be addressed.
  6. Hmm I like this idea but why are you limiting it to AR Blasters my friend? I can bring you Masterminds with Mercs... trained soldiers including medics. Defenders and Corrupters brandishing Dual pistols. Stalkers sneaking in and out of Loyalist camps doing unimaginable damage. Illusion Controllers sneaking inside enemy lines and confusing the enemy into fighting themselves. Oh I almost fogot the Mastermind controlling a group of thugs that includes a suicidal arsonist tossing fire bombs everywhere.

The PRA will take any and all willing to fight until the vile dictator Marcus Cole is no more! LOL I think we should allow Archers.. An arrow makes very little sound until it goes thud in someone's chest :-D

I'm sure there will be plenty of new RP SGs out there with Loyalist and Resistance themes. I personally am in it for the cash.,. pay me enough and I will fight for whatever cause you like!
  7. Hey I don't think you did a thing wrong. I had a pet project going a while ago with my Ill/Emp Controller in RV. I was soloing pillboxes... Confuse all the guns and let them destroy each other and then polish off the last one for the win using my Phatasm and Phantom Army. Okay so one night I get down to the last pillbox and have it almost defeated when BAM.. two stalkers take me out before i even realkize they are there. Did I get angry or upset? Did I send them a tell whinning and complaining? NO It's a PVP zone I wasn't looking to fight anyone my idea for being there was to earn the pillbox badge soloing but IU accepted the fact that they had every right to attack me and steal my kill.

The whole idea behind the zone is Hero vs Villain for control of the zone..and those Pillboxes. I accepted my fate and moved on. If the person that complained to you is that thin skinned I think he or she needs to just stay out of there altogether. I'm not a PvPer myself and on almost 40 characters I play on Virtue I have exactly 1 PVP kill to my credit and that occurred when a team of us went to Warburg after nukes and got attacked and fought back. But as you mentioned there is a warning and even a countdown when you enter any PvP zone. Whatever the reason you go in there you take your chances on being attacked.. can't accept it then DON"T GO IN!

PS.. I also go to Bloody Bay after Shivan from time to time and did have a Stalker let me wipe out all the Shivan around a Meteorite and then one shotted me so he could get the ore sample easier.. it's a part oif the game!
  8. LOL Okay you asked for this..

    Bruiser T. Keith
    Enforcers: Brooks, Dunn
    Thugs: B. Paisley, T. McGraw
    Arsonist: A. Jackson

So can anyone tell I am a Country Music fan?

Of couse this is in NO WAY in violation of any rules. Their first names are Tom Keith, Jerry Brooks, Edward Dunn, Barney Paisley, Terry McGraw and Arnold Jackson. At least that's what I am claiming if anyone objects LOL
  9. I agree and disagree. I don't think this was "the worst issue ever" and even enjoyed creating stories and my own custom characters... which by the way people begged them for and was the reason the issue was pushed back to begin with. I have many friends that took time and energy to create GOOD stories and post them. These are the people AE was meant to please. The story tellers and the players tired of the same content over and over that wanted something new to try.

I agree that the exploits ruined a lot of that. First it was the BADGERS creating missions with no serious plot or even a shred of imagination .. just see how many clickables and hostages you can throw on a map cause I want the bright shiny badges and I want them FAST. The end result.. a bunch of the badges originally designed for AE were eliminated.

Then came the exploiters with mindless farms that did nothing but allow players to, as you mentioned, run around boasting Level 1-50 in under 2 hours! Forcing NC SOFT to, as mentioned, nerf again and again to stop what they deem against the rules.. and you can say what you will about farming and powerleveling but ultimately the game belongs to NCSOFT and they make the rules so if they say it's no legal guess what.. IT'S NOT!

Oh and lets not forget the shady writers out there that did other players story arcs and purposely gave them 1 star in an effort to lower another player's rating so their creation had a better chance at a Players Choice award. I have a good friend that creates some great stories that recently got a reply from someone that had played one of his arcs.. "Good story. I gave it 4 stars. I only give 5 to farms" Wonderful strategy don't reward someone for hard work that you actually enjoy.. give the high rating only to mindless content that was probably thrown together in half an hour but allows you to breeze through quickly and level fast.

There are things I'd like to see them add or fix but the Mission Archetect was not a failure on NC SOFT's part.. The tons of players that misused it, exploited it and forced them to nerf it to death created that failure.

Oh I agree EU. It's not so bad if the player is in the 40s I mean at that point we are only talking at most 3 or 4 powers less than a 50 level and with the new SSK system all the powers they do have will be at least level 49. But prior to SSK I used to find myself on teams in PI with the "Buddy or SG Mate" that was a 6 level looking to powerlevel. One person like this wasn't so bad but when half the team was Sking the other half .. all very low with almost no attack, etc... It usually meant TEAM WIPE.

The one I really got a kick out of was the guy that wanted only players with IOs. Okay aside from set bonuses, and I generally IO with generics and just skip those, how exactly can you tell if I am using SOs or IOs? I have a 50 level Scrapper that has every slot enhances with a 50 level IO but every one is a pure Damage, Accuracy, Recharge, or whatever enhancement.. not a single set bonus but she shreds maps and takes on EBs solo (they all end up crying after she walks away too). Now if you look at her profile you won't see a single thing that indicates she is IOed and since no one but me can view my slotting exactly how did that team leader expect to confirm his demand for "IOed players only please!" lol

Edit: Might be interesting to add badges for defeating specific monsters more than once each. Would bump up the interest in monster hunting (other than making them worth a couple Merits).
I was wondering about that myself. Is twelve some magical number? I do agree why stop at Kraken? Why not a badge for taking out each of the GMS X number of times to increase the interest?

I also suggested a while ago it might spur some GM battling interest if they came up with a accolade revolving around them. Such as :

Defeat Kraken, Babbage, Lusca, Adamastor, Jurassik, Eochia, Jack in Irons, and the Kronos Titan and be awarded the Master of Monsters Badge/Accolade. Players will be given a 10% increase in Damage Resistance for 2 minutes. This power can be activated once ever 25 minutes. Hey they can make the power whatever they like I just used that as an example because its one you don't see anywhere else and would definately come in handy battling GMs or AVs. Oh I left out poor Sally in Croatoa.. Sorry but a GM I can defeat by sneezing on her hard just doesn't seem worthy of being included in yet another accolade since she already drives players nuts looking for her so they can get the Geas of the Kind Ones.

Then using the OPs idea lets hand out badges for defeating each of the GMS say 5 time or 10 (or even 12 LOL) and when a player has all of those badges the accolade power becomes Maybe 15% or 20% for 3 minutes and can be avtivated every 10 minutes. At that point there will be so many GM teams running people will be here on the forums screaming to have GM spawn times reduced because they can't find them fast enough! :-D
  12. I have sort of given up even trying to determine exactly what that post means because it varies from team leader to team leader. With most I'd say it's B but I have seen some leaders that become outraged if a lowly 36 or so level player joins the team. Best example I have, and somewhat funny, was on a Rikti Mothership raid. I showed up in zone and advertised "44 Level MA/Regen Scrapper Looking for Mothership Raid team." Seconds later I got an invite and headed to the assembly point. Next thing I get is a tell from the SAME guy that just invited me.. "Hey you're only level 44??" Ummm Yeah I broadcast that fact to the entire zone before you sent the invite! DUH

I have even seen team leader broadcast LFM 47 or higher that have AT LEAST have SOs in all slots! That was in PI of course for AV missions and I think, and understand, the guy was tired of 9 levels with training orgin, or no enhancements at all, joining up to powerlevel and bringing absolutely nothing of value to the team except more minions, lieutenants, etc to battle.

On an ITF no one can get into the zone unless they are at least level 35 and in this day and age if a 35 level isn't running with SOs or higher they have some serious issues. Come on.. I have 22 levels with millions in Influence and running a combination of SO and IO enhancements. If your using DOs .. just what the heck are you wasting your influnece on? lol
  13. There are a lot of little things like this that would benefit from simply adding one or two more lines of text to explain them in more detail. I can remember my first trip to Croatoa to turn in Halloween Salvage and I had no clue where to loacte Annah. To make matters worse it was during the day, while most players were at work, and the ONLY person in the zone decided to be cute and didn't want to tell me unless I agreed to team with him. Fortunately I found her on my own after a short search.

Until someone decides to do that however:

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Temporary_Powers

This section of the Wiki gives a deteailed description of ever known temp power, number of uses, etc. And shown below is the text on the Shivan Shard power....

    Description
Using this weird 'Shiva Shard' while near the ground allows you to summon forth a powerful Shivan Decimator to fight at your side. The Shivan can be buffed and healed, but is an unwilling companion and will not follow you through doors or into new zones. The shard can summon 5 Shivans before it is drained.

    How to Get
To obtain this temporary power, complete Shiva Strike Mission in Bloody Bay. A character can obtain the Shivan Shard an unlimited number of times, but may only have one in his or her possession at a time.

    Power Summary
    Duration 5 uses
    Effects Summon Shivan Decimator
  14. I'm trying to get an actual feel for exactly what "BOB" wants here KW. If you are happy with your team mates and whatever name you chose then as mentioned until you are ready to base build just ignore it. No rent means no notices so it will just sit there until you decide to do something with it.

Now if part of Bob's problem is .. I like my team but we decided we hate the name we came up with! Simple .. everyone quits that SG and you start a new one. Sorry I have asked the question and no amount of begging, whinning, or moaning will get NC Soft to grant your present group a new one. Sounds like Bob's team is pretty new so if this is the issue just accept that you have lost whatever prestige was earned and start over.

Lets see everyone else did a great job on the love the team and name .. we don't like or need our base issue and that covers we messed up our name. I can't think of any other problem BOb may have so good luck. :-D

As has been said, buffs/debuffs make a much bigger difference in this game than in most others. Also, individual characters have far more self survival tools at their disposal than in other games.

I mean, if my DM/Regen scrapper -NEEDS- a heal, chances are:
    a) I did something stupid... hey, I'm a scrapper, you know you do it too!
    b) We bit off more than we can chew. (see "a")
    c) We have a poor group make up for the task at hand. (It happens)
    d) It is a very tough encounter. (TF AV fights/GMs, etc)

Now, in situations "c" and "d", yes, a "healer" is a good thing to have. That said, someone who is just healing as if they were playing a priest in WoW, is failing to fully grasp their character's abilities... unless the team is really, really bad.

All told though, I can see the frustration some have with all the "we need a healer" cries, but at the same time I think a lot of the "anti-healer" vitriol is unfounded. Healing, like any other aspect of the game, makes things go smoother.
Going to add an e) to your list:

    e) Team has decided to play way over normal such as +4 X 8.

Hey all things being equal most teams can handle just about anything when the forces you face are no higher than one level above you but this new leveling trend mean that everyone except the leader is looking at +5 targets. Times 8 pretty much guarantees you will be seeing lots of bosses so even the slightest mistake in strategy can have a team full of players in the red health wise.

I have played Emps, Thermals, Rads. Kins etc.. I've played EMP Trollers and Emp Defenders .. I learned a long time ago not to consider myself a H3al0r. My Defenders take, enhance and USE their attacks and by the time I reach higher levels I make sure CM and Fort have been slotted for quick recovery and maximum effect. I shake my head and wander away muttering to myself when I see players with names like I HEALZ U or Doctor Heals. No team "Needs" a healer but then again no team, with a few exceptions, needs a tank or a scrapper, etc. I have been on all Controller TFs/teams that cut through mob so fast it would make the nastiest scrapper alive jealous. All any team here needs is good players that know the game, know their job and know how to be a team player!
  16. "Holy Clockwork Batman!" And another April Fools day has arrived. Hmmm Let's see if I create a really nerfed Emp Defender.. No attacks, no Buffs, every travel power imaginable.. all slotted for added speed... hey if your going to run RUN FAST! I could add in the medicine pool .. hey if she isn't going to attack or buff she may as well heal as much as humanly possible right?

Now just to create some macros..

/m OMG team OH My Gosh $target! the villain is trying to kill me!

/m Help team Help me $target these minions are kicking my butt

/m runaway team RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!

/m IASS team Holy hotdogs $target I am so screwed right now... please come and save me!

/m listen team Hey look guys I never liked $target anyway. Can we talk this out?

/m Giveup team Look I give up already. PLEASE please stop hitting me!

/m SAW team Okay I quit! I admit it I am such a wimp!

    /m Mom team MOMMY!

There that should do the trick now for a name. Inempt Maid? no! The Deluded Damsal? No! Fusionette LOL We have a winner!
  17. Okay this is just my opinion and you will get other. Unless you are a very casual player and take considerable time to level (soloing a lot as oppposed to teams and Tfs etc) the very early levels slip by so fast that spending time on IOs seems wasted. If I have the salvage and recipe fine I will slot it but I don't waste a lot of time below 22 level.

Now at 22 you can purchase SOs... and you'll find that IOs give you about the same percentage. The thing is, as long as you have the funds SO stacked will continue to outshine the similar IO until level 25 .. from 25 to 27, when you can replace with 30 is the best time to start using the IOS.

I usually don't seriously start to IO out a build until around 37 level. A 40 level IO gives you more than a similar 50 level SO. from that point on I keep adding until I get my entire build enhanced and then start replacing 40 with 45 or 50 as I continue up in level myself.

I have several characters now that have every slot IOed to the highest level possible and I didn't waste a huge amount of influence buying 15, 20 and 25 levels along the way which only made getting all those 50 levels that much easier.

I'm not much for specialty enhancements and generally just use generic IOs in all slots. Yes I know it's possible to obtain a huge amount of bonuses but I design my builds for damage, accuracy, and speed of attack, If I need end reductions I slot for those as well... Using a Blaster as an example I generall have 3 slaots of damage, 1-2 slots of accuracy and 1-2 slot of Recharge depending on the powerset and what it can do on its own. Archery is very accurate even without enhancements so I use 1 accuracy there and give it 2 recharge for quicker recovery time. Others that are less accurate get 2 accuracy enhancers and only 1 recharge. With 50 level IOs this gives me 99% damage above the norm.. Now since use stamina for end why should I decrease my damage output using an IO that drops the damage from 42.4% to say 25 so i can add 20 to 25% end reduction? Again just MY view and the way i slot others are quite successful with the other methos I just think the generics are easier to use and require less time, energy and PLANNING to be effective.
  18. Okay I'm conflicted here... On one hand I agree that recently GW has become more of a pain to battle than Recluse himself and I am not sure why. I have a Plant/Rad Controller that has tried 3 times to complete the thing and the same thing happens. We get to GW and no matter what we do simply can not damage fast enough, stay far enough away, etc to actually take her down and defeat her. I've seen several posts here expressing that same thing so I agree something is amiss.

As far as farming for Inspirations or whatever? hey I have a ton of characters on Virtue all in 2 Sgs that I run and are they are in a coalition with each other. Each base has 8 inspiration collectors and from running TFs, Trials and Story Arc both have 800 Tier 3 inspirations on hand for just such occasions. Did I do those TFs JUST to farm? No.. I did them to level characters, earn XP, collect Salvage and recipes, add prestige to the base and to earn the merits I used to purchase the inspirations along with other items. But with them there my lower levels can get through those awkward levels before Stamina easier and when I do a particularly tough TF I have the tools on hand to excell. Shivan? I don't run to get those every five minutes but I do enjoy GM battles so at some point I WILL make the trip to get them and add to my available tools. I tried for Nukes once but Warburg is a little tougher to crack and frankly I don't feel like going through the bother of fighting everything just to get them. I don't see that as an imposition just another tool COH provides (IF I WANT IT) to make the game easier. I have done ITFs, LGTFs, and even STFs without using them.

On States I have held off on using my Carrion Creepers against GW since she will heal off of those but I have done a lot of ITFs with my Thugs/DM Mastermind and about the only thing I got rid of was my Bruiser (Brute) .. the rest, excpet the Arsonist, tend to stay back and attack at range anyway. With Dm i ma busy debuffing Romulus like mad anyway so I certainly don't feel useless and only once have I ever been excluded for that TF .. Team leaders loss since I turned around and formed one of my own which breezed through it.

Frankly "Masters of".. in my opinion is over rated and I tend to avoid them. I tried a Master of Statesman with a friend once and thanks to one team member that seemed unable to understand simply instructions we managed to have one death on the first mission. We managed this three times because the leader was determined to get "Master of". By 1AM we were finally on the last mission, and the "Master of" was gone due to a death during the Thorn Tree mission, when the entire team gave up because we all had to work the next day. After that five hour long nightmare I swore off them completely. Its just another badge and there are hundreds of others out there so I am not going to go through the frustration to get one that one.

I do agree that States TF needs some work... I am not even sure if they did anything to make Recluse nastier because the last 3 times I have tried it the team couldn't get past Ghost Widow. As for "Master of" ..Anything if you don't want the hastle simply don't join those teams. Its what i do and I spend much more time enjoying the game and less pulling my hair out wondering "When will this ever end?'

That works and I have used it frequently but I recently teamed the arc and there is a "new" way to deal with the situation. The big issue is the AMBUSH and everyone tries to outrun them to the glowie. You run, you rush and Lady J will attack anything in sight and follow till it dies.

This team freed her and then stood perfectly still. We tackled each ambush mob as it arrived until they stopped coming and then simply kept Lady J toward the back of the group and worked our way to the glowie. After that worked so well I tried it solo and it worked again. In fact it worked so well I didn't just take Lady jane to the glowie... I had Lady jane help me clear the entire map before we went near the glowie.

The important thing to note is there will be a total of five ambushes and after that they simply stop. Circle of Thorn offer up some very nice salvage and recipes and Jane is a hero class Boss so taking on one mob at a time she was fine
  20. Overused:

Circle of Thorns: Early levels they can be a pain since most agree they are overpowered . Later levels we catch up so to add to the annoyance factor we get the dreaded COT Cave/bases that are a maze of twists and turns. I don't care what contact you are running arcs through at some point they feel the absolute need to throw in one mission where the actual villain group the contact has you dealing with battles COT. Seems l;ike they feel some need to constantly remind us "Hey Circle of Thorn are a MAJOR villain group in game"

Council: at least in the 20 levels. If you do the TFs to level between level 23-34 you battle Council on the Moonfire TF, Council on the Hess Tf and then again Council on the Citadel. Not one TF that ever deals with the Warriors, Tsoo or family also available in that level range.

    Underused:

Fake Nemesis: Since its a requirement for one of the accolades it's amazing how few missions actually have any of these in them and a lot of players find themselves hunting in PI or the Shard to complete that requirement. I've suggested it before how about removing some of the WarHulks from Creys Folly or Eden and replacing them with Fakes

Back Alley Brawler.. Story line is fascinating but we barely see him anywhere besides a few missions scattered between red and blue side.

    5xFire/Rad Controller
    1xIll/Rad Controller
    1xFire/Sonic Controller
    1xFire/FF Controller

Hardly balanced, but it was completely ridiculous. STF @46 for xp; we pulled all the AVs pre-Recluse at once (accidentally), and just burned them down. We actually had to debate whether rigging up Task Forces for +5 or +6 mobs was best.

But... But... But... Plasma I never said I thought we'd have a problem. My point was despite what some team leaders think that unless they have some formulated team build any combo can work if the players know what they are doing and work together. I smiled at the comment one person made of 6 defenders and 2 pity spots since I have seen teams like that just breeze through missions. Hey can I alter you team a bit?

    2xFire/Rad Controller
    1xIll/Rad Controller
    2x Plant/Rad Controller
    1xFire/Sonic Controller
    1xFire/FF Controller
1xIll/Emp Controller or even an Ill/Thermal (for more buffs)... hey we already have so much Rad everything will glow for days after we leave LOL

I can easily understand people not wanting to take excessive time to run a TF. At higher levels that may just mean having a dead person.
We took 2 hours and 37 minutes not a speed run by any standard but we had no 50 levels on board that were only after the badge to complete the accolade requirements so on some missions we actually could have stealthed we played almost like defeat alls. No one was in a rush and all were enjoying the XP, INF etc. I know the trend lately has been get it done fast and let me move on but I did a Lady Grey a little while back and the leader made it very clear "This is not a speed run. We will clear every map and soak up all the XP, INF, Salvage , Recipes and Vanguard Merits we can!" She was not kidding and even after we got mission complete on mission #1 taking out the Clockwork King we stayed and battled the ambushes that spawn. Funny thing is that took us 2 hours and 47 minutes and my 46 level left a 47 plus with my enhancement tray, salvage and recipes filled. I've done TFs both ways.. speed and slow and as long as people have the time and enjoy themselves I see nothing wrong with either.

Keep in mind before the new mentoring system, and especially before Raptor packs, Positron was a nightmare to many players. No travel powers as the TF ran them over almost every lower zone in the game, long before anyone could hope to have stamina if their character NEEDED it, and two patrols including the one in Perez Park that forced those same "travel power imparred" teammates to run from one end of the zone to the other. Back then it could take 5, 6 or even 8 hours. So in MY mind a finish on that in under 3 hours is fine. :-D

You'll note that specific AT's and powersets aren't listed. That's because I believe that nearly ANY combination of such played by competent players can accomplish nearly anything the game throws at them. "Master of" task forces might be an exception -- I have a hard time imagining a group with enough patience for an all Stalker group to get through that, but it might be possible.

Holy ____ ! I got a Red name to respond to one of MY posts LOL Totally agree and pretty much what I was getting at. The Master's of are a sort of a rare, or not so rare these days, excpetion unless you want to spend incredible amounts of time trying to work through them with whatever. I did an ITF with no tank or brute just a PB in Dwarf mode and we did fine. NOT a Master of attempt but we did get a missio0n complete and had a good time. States TF is another mater or not I think sort of screams Tank but I guess with enough debuff and control you could get through that too. I actually think Ghost Widow is tougher to deal with than Lord Recluse.. Just my opinion. Master of kahn I bet could be done with any combo .. tank or no tank but a good tank on that is something I would never refuse.
  24. Again I have to agrre with SteamPunkette 100%. I never said your idea was horrible but it needed more thought and work.. and I tried to give you some alternatives. As it stands now a hellion Boss has a grand total of six attack and at 50 level it would be the most lopsided battle in game. So without some serious thought and a lot of coding it simply wouldn't be possible. Tsoo, Freakshow, and a host of other villain groups all die out by level 50 and don't have the added attacks to make them a challenge to the player. Zones like Atlas and Galaxy aren't even set up to offer radio missions to level appropriate players so that's more code to write. Time travel and exemplaring allow any player above say level 25 the option to continue to face any lower level villain group and since the Devs are busy with issue 17, 18 and even 19 at the moment I don't think they want to devote a huge amount of time and effort to redesigning Villains simply because 50 levels want to battle a group that dies out about level 19. They are producing new content and groups for "End Game" and even new incarnate powers to give 50 levels more to do.

I don't see any problem with expanding radios to 50 levels to zones like KR and on up that already have radios available but you siad EVERY zone.. so do you also want to be bale to go to Eden or Creys Folly and run them as well? Those are hazard/Trial zones and have never had radio missions either.. No Police Station = no radio missions since there is no Police force or station.

Going back and rereading bot my post and SteamPunkettes I don't see any mention of your idea being stupid or impossible simply needing more work and providing you with alternate means to acheive the same thing until something else can be arranged. If anyone is copping an attitude its you... Considering some of the flame wars I have seen and even been involved in here how you equated our comments to insulting you in some way is beyond me.

Oh I don't think its widespread but there have been recent "Empathy Sucks"threads here and one night a month or so ago I watched a conversation between 4-5 members of one of the global channels I belong to mirrioring that same feeling. "All they can do is HEAL and who needs that at level 46?" "None of them know how to play their AT" etc.. Funny thing is while all this was going on hero side the Villain side they were rejoicing in the addition of PAIN Domination which is the Villain side version of Empathy for Corruptors and MMs. So while a small group, or maybe a slightly larger one, Hero side was condemning Empathy the villains were throwing a party over getting access to its merits.

Granted I have teamed with bad Emp Defenders and actually feel there should be a LAW requiring certain players access to nothing but Scrappers and Blasters so they can mindlessly click and damage to their heart's content. Playing any support character requires a different mindset and if you are stuck in Scrapper or Blaster lock you will not play a Controller or Defender well. Personally it took me a while to warm up to Blasters and for a long time I never kept one beyond 10 level. But I was trying to play them like a Scrapper and once I started developing the right play style to play them well I grew to love them.. "Hi I will be your Blaster today. If you are looking for me I will be WAAAAY back here doing damage and watching you scrappers and tanks absorb the bulk of the damage."

I think the EMP bashing has died down .. haven't seen much of it here or in game of late. I suppose Dual Pistol bashing has taken its place for the time being and of course I have a DP Blaster, Defender and Corruptor that are doing quite well. I guess if we ever get to a point where no one has anything to complain about or "hate" the game will fold and end a day later LOL

With Demon Summoning due out sometime in April look for a shift to bashing that since its the new shiny so there MUST be a ton of things wrong with it??
