Well, SOMEBODY bought them, but it wasn't me. I wonder if that makes me lucky or unlucky? I guess that depends on if we've set a new expected price point, or if it comes back down to historical levels. Anyway, my bids are still up.

I love you people SO much right now.

Hmmm, that's amusing. Most people objecting to merging the markets seem to think that Heroes will corner the market on everything since they're richer. The devs seem to want to wait to merge the markets until Villains catch up to Heroes. But in my opinion, Villains probably won't ever catch up to Heroes unless they merge the markets.
As for having even less demand on certain items, those are the items that nobody wants. They sell for crap now, and they'd sell for crap if the markets were merged. I'm missing a point somewhere.
I believe that the consensus of the forum regulars is that the markets should be merged. It also seems like the consensus among the market irregulars is that this is some ebil plot by the marketeers to fleece the poor. It's also one of those dead horse issues that we can't seem to stop beating.
As for the original question, merits and AE caused some upheaval, but it all seems to have worked itself out by now, and things seem calm again, and for the most part back to how they were a year ago. The main exception that I've noticed is that good purples (which don't drop in AE) have significantly increased in price. Also, top level rare tech salvage is now about the same price as top level rare magic salvage. I'm sure there's more, but those are the main things I've noticed. -
There has been a 1-10 challenge. Not so much a challenge, as I believe it stipulated that all drops be put on the market for 1 inf and that you play no market games. So it was more a matter of "by level 10, you should have at least this much influence". I don't remember the numbers; I just remember that the numbers seemed good enough that there would be no reason to complain about your lowbies being poor.
That said, I actually didn't have enough influence on my most recent alt to get all SOs when I hit 22. It shocked me, as it's been a long time since that happened. Funny thing is, probably half a level into 22, I had all my SOs plus a few million banked. I think I'd just gotten very unlucky with my drops, and then suddenly got very lucky. Strange things happen sometimes. -
In case you're wondering what you just stepped in, this is one thoroughly beaten dead horse. It's probably all new to you, but it's old to a lot of the locals, which should explain some responses. That and you probably meant dual pistols, and that confusion will probably explain other responses. I'm in favor of dual pistols, perhaps as an epic, and I'd play it if they made it a primary. I have a soft spot for gun fu. But lots of people think it's a stupid idea, and it's pretty much probably never going to happen.

Hah! Shooting for more than 200 million, are you? Interesting. Hmmm.
Well, I'm not that impatient YET, anyway. Think maybe I'll buy myself a nice, shiny Panacea proc first. And it might take a while for me to come up with those funds.
Still, for the entertainment value alone, kudos mang. You've put a smile on my face. I love the market PvP mini game, and I walked right into that one.
(Speaking of which, now that I know that a single build can still bankrupt me, it's probably time to step up my own game. I've started swimming in the adult pool for the past few weeks trying to put this build together. I think I've made almost a billion in that time, which is significantly faster than I've earned in the past. I continue to find it shocking how much people will pay me for stuff.) -
It's been a long long time since I've noticed the devs tossing out a nerf in response to what we're capable of at the very top end. I think they're quite aware of what we can do, and they're doing the same things on their own characters. When Dual Blades/Willpower came out, was it Castle that was achieving a high success rate at the RWZ challenge BEFORE releasing it? If the devs are still suffering under any illusions of what the game they built allows, that would be sad.
Still. NINE. Sheesh. Maybe we DO need a nerf. Thanks, Nihilii. -
Quote:Wait, wait. We have a developer that thinks that a taunt is a penalty? That it's bad for you because of the extra damage that will come your way? OK, there are aspects of truth to that, and I realize some people might see it this way, but a dev? That's a pretty amusing take on what I would consider a major buff.If I do recall correctly though a red name stated they only added taunt to powers that buff the scrapper. So if you get a damage buff based on enemys being near you the devs offset that buff with the taunt aura. The taunt almost being used as a penalty to balance the buff.
I wouldn't mind seeing this looked at but I doubt this will ever change.
Still, OK, I can live with that explanation if it's true:
"Hey, devs! Please buff up the damage auras? Maybe cut the endurance in half? As everyone knows, the endurance on those damage auras is just unfair. They could really use a buff. What? You'd need to add a taunt effect to it to balance it out? OUCH. Man, that'll suck. That's a whole lot of aggro. That's going to make it hard to survive, particularly on teams. Wow. Boy. Tough decision. Really tough. But yeah, OK. I guess it's worth it for me to stop bottoming out my blue bar. Do it if you must."
*crosses fingers* *whistles innocently* -
Curse you, Nihiliiiiiiiiiii!!!!! *shakes fist*
Man, you just keep moving that bar higher and higher, don't you? Nice. I need to read and watch more carefully when I don't have company coming over. -
Quote:It's probably just differing perceptions of the same events, but I feel like I get stuff running all the time on my Dark Armor. I WOULD blame it on my damage being comparatively sucky (bad scrapper, no biscuit), but even when I'm pumped to the gills on reds on a farm, stuff still runs. Heck, sometimes they run, come back, take a tick from my damage aura, says "screw that" and run again. Level 54 Rikti Soldiers are running for chrissakes. Don't they know how much damage their frickin' swords do in melee? How is it your scrapper leaves things alive long enough for them to run?
My Death Shroud is fine as is, if there is nothing in range of it, it just means I killed it all already.
Granted, it's par for the course, and I'm not any more annoyed than my general annoyance at running enemies in MMOs - it's just so RUDE of them to not stand there and let me kill them! And I could instead be playing one of my toons that DOES have a taunt aura, but I'm enjoying my Dark Armor more at the moment despite the running. But yeah, if Death Shroud had a taunt effect, it would be even more betterful. -
Well, I figured I'd spend an hour on the north end of the Rikti War Zone and see how those earnings went. I stopped after half an hour. I wasn't making much influence compared to the trouble - since when did the Rikti RUN so frickin' much? Lame. So it looks like I'll be farming Council Empire +2x8 with bosses for some decent influence while still moving quickly enough to get a reasonable chance at good drops.
-
Enemies do not seem to run from Cloak of Fear. They cower. So yeah, not all fear effects are the same.
-
Quote:Heh. How do you handle your Claws/Regen? Isn't that all nerve ending and fast twich muscle fiber?I CAN run +0/x8, but I prefer not to, since DA is a lot less fire-and-forget than SR, and it can get mentally draining after a while. I play video games to relax, not to get all twitchy keeping my scrapper alive.
I have both moods. Sometimes I want to be all reflex twitchy. Sometimes I just want to zone out and kill. The new difficulty sliders make it even easier to do either on one character. Thanks, devs!
Oh, and I assume you meant +4x8, or I need to laugh at you for letting your build down when it needed you. -
Yeah, I bumped up my hit points as much as I could given all my other goals. On paper, I'll have 1833, but I probably won't ever get the Task Force Commander accolade, so let's call it 1766. That's not even close to 2410 as far as surviving multiple AV hits at once. So I'm not holding my breath, but yeah, maybe four or five if I'm lucky and I get really good with Dark Regeneration.
But if I CAN survive multiple AV hits at once, then that which cannot kill me in 14 seconds cannot kill me. Dark Regen is huge. I need to get a LOT better at it, though. I thought my Katana/Regen would have trained me, but it turns out I kinda suck at using Dark Regeneration, maybe because I've so rarely needed to use it so far. The build is close to complete, and farming +3x8 doesn't require it. I probably use it a few times per hour because it's there, I also have unused greens, oranges and purples. I suspect inspirations would be enough. I've died a couple times on a +4x8 AE farm with ambushes to push it way over the aggro cap, and then minions die first, leaving you with the aggro cap of bosses and lieutenants. Still, I blame it on lack of focus and poor Dark Regeneration timing. Kind of like what kills Regen. I shouldn't be dying. It's just that I'm not good enough and need to get better. I like that about Regen. Looks like I'll be liking that about Dark Armor at the limit. -
Well, someone picked one up. Two to go!
-
It WAS debunked years ago. And then the game was changed. Redraw is no longer baked into the activation times of most weapon sets. This was a BIG buff to the weapon sets when it was done, but redraw then became an actual concern. I forget the exception(s) to the rule - maybe Spines?

Quote:I've done the same. I have Hurdle + Combat Jumping on most characters. In my case, I bound the switch between Combat Jumping and Super Jump to the "E" key. Switching is second nature.combat jumping/hurdle is faster then swift if you get used to hopping where you go. and if you do like me, and bind your travel power to a button, i use "q" myself, it's EASY to toggle on and off quickly as your jumping around your mission.
While I loves me some bunny hopping, it's a lot to get used to, particularly indoors, and some people simply hate it, to which I can only say "fair enough". Swift isn't a bad alternative, and is probably better for the small repositionings you tend to make during combat. But I'd probably only take one or the other unless I'm swimming in choices, and I'm never swimming in choices. -
Addressing several things at once:
Well, if _Mojo_ hasn't taken on two AVs, I suspect it's only because he hasn't tried. He's got a great build for it, if I remember correctly. I think his build is what convinced me that Katana/Willpower was fully the equal of Katana/Regen against single targets, and pulled ahead in crowds.
Yeah, I don't have much endurance to spare on my Katana/Dark. Not enough to get through endurance drains. I might be able to handle it with enough targets for the Theft of Essense: chance for +endurance. It's hard to know. A whole lot of my endurance recovery is from procs, so I could get lucky or unlucky. Time will tell if I have enough. I can add a little more easily if necessary. But adding a lot more would be a major overhaul.
Here's my 2 AV video, but you probably won't learn much from the video itself. As stated in the description, "The video is only of the most interesting center section, from when I ran in to pull both AVs to the defeat of Hro'Dtohz. From setting up the fight through killing Nemesis took about 35 minutes total." So four minutes of the fight were interesting; 31 minutes were setup and cleanup. I suspect that others have better footage of better fights. -
If no one has done it yet, I'm sure it will be done. I believe that Willpower has the potential to take on a few at once. It can put up some great survivability numbers in crowds, and again, hand pick your AVs to suit its strengths.
(Wait, seriously? Three on your Katana/Fire? I figured Katana/Fire could handle AVs with the right build, but I wasn't anticipating three at once. Nice.)
-
You are wise - always bank on the impatience of the buyers.
I'm SO close to finishing this build. I'm not going to let a little thing like an extra 150 million play money stand between me and my goals, particularly when I just got one of my PvP IOs for about 200 million less than anticipated. Three bids for 200 million each for level 52 Enzymes are now up. Get 'em while they're hot.
-
I can be a little more flexible myself, as I also have good resistance to dark and psionic, though I'm not sure what psionic AVs there are that don't have at least some non-positional attacks. Looking at you, Malaise.
Don't think I'll set or even match the record, since my Katana/Dark will be strong against everything, but not unstoppable against anything in particular. I also have no wiggle room for defense debuffs. But I'll be curious to see how many I CAN get. Just a few more expensive and rare IOs. Come on, market people! Sell me your stuffs for less than they's worth! I'm running out of influence here!
(Seriously, I thought I was rich before I started IOing out this toon. Turns out I was wrong.) -
If you have friends with IOs you can sort of try out builds by copying over to test and having them respec out of them. Do it several times for multiple copies of the same IOs. I've never done it, though. I do occasionally use test to try out specific powers, though.
-
Neither can be used without causing redraw. Boxing has better DPS. But generally, you're just trying to get into Tough and Weave, and they're throw-away powers. They also sometimes serve as set mules in IO builds, in which case you want the one that can take the set you want to slot.
-
I felt rich with about six billion. Then I priced out my shiny new build. Looks like I'm headed for the poorhouse. Ah, well. Easy come, easy go.
-
No temps, no insps, right? I'm guessing you both did it on soft-capped Invulnerability vs. smashing/lethal AVs? That's going to be tough to beat.
What are your "favorite" smashing/lethal AVs?
