Had a blast with that event, even if I was running around a lot slower than everyone else. Was there on Shujissa (my Archery/Mental Manipulation Blaster) and Arsenic Widow. Neither of which had SS or SJ. And I got to use Daleon as the group knife dummy!

My first thought - WTF?
My second thought - THIS IS AWESOME!
Nicely done. -
Caught the end of this event. At least got to help clear out Atlas Park of all the War Walkers, and even better was logging in on my Praetorian character to see the broadcasts about it.
-
I don't really have songs picked out for each character, but I do have one song that would work well for an overall theme.

I got the few names I wanted, which is my global namesake and my other favorite characters. Darkojin, Shujissa, Khrystal Sierval, and Arsenic Widow.

Amazing to see that many people standing around waiting for meteors to start raining (which Beastyle said wasn't going to happen, unfortunatly). Seems I made it into one of those screenshots above as well (first one to be taken around BABs, I'm standing 'at ease' in the background on my very green Widow). Also got to meet and talk to both Mr and Mrs Wentworth about their Real World Hero drive. Unfortunatly, started to fall asleep at the board and logged out before the server went down.

Just saw Rise of The Planet of The Apes tonight. Very good movie, and of course had the "Damn dirty apes!" line in it for nostalgia effect. The human characters (beyond the main scientist and his family) were so shallow that you mainly felt the apes were better potrayed than any of the humans. Very well done CGI and the story flowed really well. Would honestly see this multiple times if I could.
As for other movies this summer...
Captain America (great), Green Lantern (sucked), Pirates 4 (awesome), Transformers 3 (awesome), Thor (great), Harry Potter (very good ending to the series), Cowboys and Aliens (pretty freaking awesome for a movie with the strangest concept this year, also Daniel Craig's character was a bad-***). -
Quote:Cause I kind of suck at RP? I don't always think of the best thing to do IC at every given moment. When I left it was more of me just going 'F it, I'm out of here". Admittedly still kind of new to RP, and have lots of bad experiances with it in the past. At least I keep trying though.I guess I'm sort of harping on a point here, but... Why don't your characters "fit in"? I mean, can't a serious character simply react seriously when something goofy happens? Even if it's just shaking their head and moving to another room (the other rooms being one of the reasons Nalrok_AthZim chose the Midnighter Club in the first place), it could still be done in-character instead of just rushing for the door as soon as things start to get Too Silly.

Dunno if its just on my end, but that link might be busted. Takes me to a page that 'does not exist on these forums'.

Quote:At least you tried to join in to keep having fun with the event you started, even when a group started moving it in an entirely other direction. My character really doesnt fit in with that kind of RP though (again more serious character, vs the party), and honestly none of my characters do.That was me.
See, I tried to adapt to that bit of RP, roll with the punches, but the immediate reply was "HEY DON'T SMASH THE PIZZA AND BEER."
So I guess I threw a pizza and beer party, all things considered.
Totally blanking the name of the Spider I was talking to, it was Moppet something, right? Remember trying to ignore the party going on in there and talking to him about the giant suit he managed to get, which was when you first walked in (emoting shoving both of us aside). I believe you were also acting like you were Russian, which led to an OOC conversation about how little each of us actually knows in that language, lol. Still, trying to just talk to people after that got to be an impossibility with how many people were in there at that time (think it was up to 15 or so at that point), which was when I left and then saw Paladin organizing the Tin Mage that I jumped in on. -
Quote:Ok, small update here, I was actually on that run with Paladin (Archery Blaster named Shujissa). Secondly, it was more than just 3 people that 'crashed' the event. I counted a good 7 or 8 at least. I only left after trying to hold a simple conversation became impossible. Its easy to ignore others, but as someone said, if they show up to a public event that someone went through the trouble to plan and organize, they should have the decency to not be total ***** if they show up. Volt wasnt really that bad that I remember. Character had a bit of an ego, but that is how that character is. He joined in on the 'frat party' once it really started going, never said he started it. Honestly, without chat logs to show how things progressed, its a lot of guess work and pointing fingers as to who did what. I do remember one funny moment that came from all the people running in though. Whoever the second Spider was, walked up to the table and emoted pounding on it, saying "Lazy people get up now!" in a Russian accent.Overall, I had a blast. Especially got a kick out of being called "Pharaoh."
I don't begrudge the "frat boys." They came to do what we all came to do: Socialize.
I do begrudge the people that couldn't just ignore it if they didn't like it. It seemed like once the frats came out, a bunch of people bailed. I tried to keep going, but the crowd had all but died, and Paladin formed up the Tin Mage. And my warshade can't turn down a good IC TF.
Also, I was one of the people that sent Nalrok a PM, but never mentioned the event was ruined. I just mentioned that people running in acting the way they were is proboly why a lot of people stick to RPing in bases (beyond the normal clique stuff). More of an 'oh well' response than anything. -
Seen the guy that won first at tons of costume contests, nice to see him finally win. Always thought it was an awesome costume.

Just wanted to clear a few things up here.
1. People running AOE powers - Someone had Shadow Fall on, but as they were on the other side of the table, it was just hitting me and one other person. There was one or two other things being fired off, but this one was constantly on.
2. The 'pizza and beer' comment was not only directed at Voltium (yes you were saying that, but many people joined in). The mood of things was getting kind of serious, and it is nice to see some people able to bring a character that can joke around. The whole event kind of deteriorated into that little party though. As I said before, we went from having a conversation to people collapsing on the round table. I halfway expected to see people swinging from chandoliers.
3. Ignoring greifers - As I said in my first post, I did try to ignore the whole thing to have an IC conversation with the giant spider (I think his name was Moppet something, drawing a total blank on it), which was going ok until another person butted in with more of the 'pizza and beer' comments. I even tried to brush it off in character, but they kept going with it. Also, from past experiances, sending greifers a tell asking them to knock it off (regardless of how polite you try to make it sound), is not going to work. If someone wants to show up to be an ***, saying "please stop" is not going to work. The few times I have tried that in the past, its usually met with some form of leet-speak idiocy of how they can do what they want. Never had other RP-ers crash the party though, at least til now. -
Nice to see you are trying to make good with them and all, but really I don't think they deserve it. Everyone was having fun, and the event was going great, then the frat party started out of nowhere, and people were spamming AOE powers on everyone. It went from fun to "Where is my freaking beer and pizza?!" and people doing the collapse emote on the round table. I tried to stick around for a little after that all started to try to continue a conversation with people but the spam and idiocy just got to be too much.
Thanks for the fun, but as I said before, I really don't think the idiots deserve any decency. -
Have to agree with that, it definatly was the best of those choices. You could have put Matrix in that list as well, cause then we can pull jokes from something called "40 reasons why Star Wars is better than The Matrix".
One of my favorites from that list is still "We cloned a bad-*** Mandalorian with a suit of armor, flamethrower, rocket launcher, and an awesome ship to match. They cloned a guy in a suit. Enough said." -
Hmm, could have sworn they had said a new 50 zone was going live with Freedom. Maybe I misread it, either way both of my Praetorian characters are too high already for this zone. Both already out of Praetoria, one went to red side (currently level 29), other to blue (level 27).

Seems someone on the Dev team may have played 3rd Birthday a bit too much (or maybe I have, dunno which). Those Hami tenticles look a lot like the Twisted Babel Spires in that game. Not a bad thing, as those were freaking awesome, but still. Really looking forward to getting to explore all the new stuff this area has when it goes live, though. Hopefully get one of my two Praetorians up to 50 before this goes live.

Quote:The server is a lie? (like that joke hasnt been beaten to death yet...).Hehe, glad to know you guys are enjoying our humble presence.
It's definitely part of the plan to continue jumping into the lie servers from time to time, as long as time permits.

Seriously though, its always great to see things like this show up in game. -
Usually just throw a ton of songs into Winamp and hit Randomize Playlist. Bands on the list are UnSun, Disturbed, Zeromancer, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, Atreyu, Lordi, In Flames, Trivium, Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, Ozzy, Tool, Orgy, Killswitch Engage, Silversun Pickups, Avenged Sevenfold, and other bands similar to that.

Quote:Seems a lot of people are stuck with the same situation. Tried to find decent RP at times, and as others have said, too many people are just not willing to even bother talking to people outside their normal group. Gotten into one or two teams that were at least willing to RP with others, but its kind of a rare thing.Huh. That all sounds remarkably close to my situation, too. (Though with the added complication that I'm not actually online as much as I'd like...)
So the obvious solution here is for those of us in this thread should form a VG (or, if you've got a VG already, a coalition - I just recently decided to go ahead and make my own solo VG, but that's easily discarded if there's a more interesting option in the offing...)
My global is the same as my display name on the forum; feel free to say hi sometime. Some of my other characters have different motivations, but Vardra is always looking for something interesting to kill...
Running my own SG/VG for my rediculous number of alts, so joining another is not something I would want to do, but forming a coalition could be an option. Or at the very least just adding globals and teaming up. RP does not have to be restricted to JUST within an SG or VG.
Global is @Darkojin, or can usually find me running around as Arsenic Widow. -
This happened while running the missions for Ghost Widow on my favorite character, Arsenic Widow. Our group was up to the mission where you get to trap Numina, and then have to fight her. Just as a joke I told the group to stand back while I try to fight Numina solo (just to see if I could).
Halfway into the fight, I realised that I was tearing through her health bar, and she was barely scratching me, so I was having a bit of fun with it. Both of us were running all over the room throwing psyionic attacks at each other, but the fight was entirely one sided (for me). Finally she drops, and I start celebrating, I believe it went something like this...
"Hah! I win! She couldnt even hurt me. Guys? um..."
Didnt know it before the fight, that Numina calls in reinforcements every time you knock off 25% of her health. So, as Numina drops, I turn to the group, and finally noticed they were all dead in the hallway before that room, with an army of Longbow standing on them. Yeah, my bad...
Popped all the reds I had, charged into the Longbow group and fired off Psychic Wail (AKA "Delete All Minions"), which cleared out most of them. Then went tearing through the remaining enemies.
Really made my character seem powerful taking on Numina by myself, and then the massive group of Longbow afterwards, without much of a problem.
EDIT: Added image below of Arsenic.
