Clouded their vision is. A disturbance do they sense, but no more, as the shadow of the dark side falls upon them.
  4. Good to know. For the longest time when I'd see it I thought I was imagining things.
  5. Swipe like animation plays when toggling on defensive toggle.

    AT: Stalker
    Powersets: Claws/Ninjitsu

If I have my claws out and I am in the passive stance when I activate Danger Sense a swipe animation plays. Could be WAI but seems more like a bug as it animates normally without the claws, or if I'm still in the crouched stance that first drawing the claws puts you into.

I have a huge model, and I'm using the viper claws, I have not checked it with other custom claw types.

    TF Tank?

I tanked a two man Posi just fine with my WP/DB. The mobs rarely touched the scrapper I was duoing with. If you have tanking experience, you should be able to compensate for the general lack of a standard taunt aura.

Hence why I said *full* group.

Ouroboros Menders seem to talk the same way don't they? Also Mender Silos is an anagram of Lord Nemesis. It's very Voldemort.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Here's a question I've always wanted to ask:

By the 45-50 level range, the Nemesis has obviously gained the ability to spread his mind across multiple bodies, but how does that work? Is it one conscience controlling multiple suits of armour like he had a hundred hands, or is it multiple "people" all existing as copies of the same mind? At one point, the former appears to be the case, where two Fake Nemesis will finish each other's sentences. At another point, the latter seems true, as "Nemesis?" asks "Have we met? Or was this another Nemesis?" suggesting that the one I'm fighting now may not be the same despite sharing the same mind.

    How does that work?

*ponders where in the game we've seen behavior like this from other NPCs*

  11. Did Statesman and Maiden Justice have more than just the one child?

Was Tyrant's beginning's much like Statesman, or did he never reform from the thug, and did Stefan Richter play the role of the more noble one in that reality? Was Maiden Justice good or evil on Praetoria, and did she meet with the same end?
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Naja's Prime counterpart isn't a hero or villain at all. She runs a corporation. I never thought of Praetoria as Bizarro-Earth, more like "What would've happened if Statesman were a tyrant-dictator?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is the concept that stuck with me as well. I never could reconcile the "destroyed" AP that we saw in the comics with what little we know from the Praetorian stuff in game. Glad to see they didn't go that route (at least from what the trailer shows).

  14. Were these moved to a different range than 5-50(I14 patch notes)? I always use whatever merits a lowbie has accumulated to buy them if I am going to delete that character, however I was unable to do so on a level 5 character. While it isn't a huge issue, I just want to know if this is a genuine bug, or the range was adjusted(I couldn't find anything about it in the patch notes).

I got my receipt in my email while still waiting for the page after the confirmation to load. It seems that account management is also experiencing this "high volume" as it's taking me a few minutes per page to load as well.
  16. Name: The Starchasers

Currently Recruiting: All levels, ATs, themes.

RP Level: Medium RP, SG and Coalition are of course IC channels. As are all supergroup teams. OOC chat prefaced accordingly please.

PvP Level: Little to none, though members do enjoy it at times.

Theme/Concept: You know Superman, and Statesman, and all those other Epic heroes? Yeah, we're not them. Though there are a few powerhouses on the roster, we're generally the other guys. We're the super spy, the streetwise heroine, the elves from another dimension, the ex-cons, and a few things that just don't seem to belong anywhere else but with each other.

Activity: We have 10 or so unique members, with many alts across all levels but with a general concentration in the mid levels(20-40). You're just as likely to find us on at any time of the day, with a leaning toward prime time hours. We do however have alts outside of the group, including on villain side. We're not the most populated SG you could join, so be forewarned.

Requirements for Membership: No level/activity requirement. We do ask that you try to make the monthly team up night which is generally the 4th Wednesday of the month, but even that is optional.

Leadership: Tara Hellshot, Shrouded Spectre/Eternal Spectre, Darius Stone

    In-Game Contact(s): @Lele, @Derek, @The Mike

    Out-of-Game Contact(s): Victorious

    URL: None

Coalition(s): Spectre's security division, under the name Aggravated Assault is currently attached by coalition. Functionally, it is the same group as the Starchasers, but gives an extra area to RP, and some options for "best fit."

Other Details: We have our monthly team up night. Beyond that we do try to schedule at least one TF a month, and usually end up with more in between. As of the last few months the Starchasers have entered into a sort of detente conflict with our villain side group, The Order of the Bloody Rose, with attacks made against Starchasers both by Order members, and associates. The option for cross faction conflict is something we'd love to have played out further so feel free to drop us a line.

Recipe costs appear to be based on the going rates in the market from a player selling average cost. The inherent failure in this is also a scaling issue for recipe levels. Do you really think an average level 10-25 character will ever gain the ridiculous merit cost for some of those recipes, let alone one?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Something kind of struck me as I read this part. And I finally realized what's been bugging me about Merits, and in turn both the market, and invention system.

What is the developers goal for them? Do they want us hoarding merits til 50, and only then IOing out? Do they really expect players to random roll in the teens and early 20s when there is more crap than not, and then hope to put that crap on the market? I don't play Hero side nearly as much as I used to, but looking through the villain side, from just doing storyarcs, and never "farming" them, you're looking at a long haul just to afford a single recipe with merits. Is this the goal? Is this how the system is supposed to work?

    QR

    Trials

    Trial: Second Respec Trial
    Contact: Captain James Harlan
    Merit rewards: 20 (-5)

    Trial: Third Respec Trial
    Contact: Major Richard Flagg
    Merit rewards: 20 (-5)

So Trials now don't even give enough merits for a random trial roll? That's just stupid.

Why call it a trial recipe then?

Break the recipes up into common, uncommon, rare, and unique. Assign a value for a random roll to each catagory.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Trials never gave enough for a random roll, on either side.
  19. QR

Part of the problem with the random roll thing (from my perspective) is that not all task forces/strike forces award enough to get one. I know what they were trying to kill by doing this, but not everyone was running quick Katies/Caps. This system has reduced mid level market supply as more people bunch their random rolls up at 50, and in the case of Pool D, obliterated it almost completely. I like what they were trying to accomplish with Merits, I really do, I think they just overpriced most everything. And having 125 merit yellow recipes, popular/unique or not, completely breaks their pricing mold.

So uh Posi, issue 15's release is still going to coincide with the 5 year anniversay.....right? That basicly gives you 3 months to get issue 14 and 15 to live.....is it foot in mouth time?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think Posi's too busy to reply on account of him hunting down whatever low level programmer made him look like a liar.

I'm betting this year goes more like:

End of April: Issue 14 - six or seven months of patches to fix all the mission editor bugs, while ignoring the other ones that have been in since I12, and all the new stuff I13 broke.

End of October/Beginning of November/End of December: Issue 15 - which is really just another fix patch, but they add a new contact to each side to have something to present as new.

Cathulhu gets at the textual reasoning behind the Reformed change, but makes the conclusion that it's related to side-switching as an eventual reality in this game. There's another possibility that looks increasingly likely with the change to base crafting counting for the Artisan series. That reason is literalism.

Now, this is speculative and based on two whole data points, which really isn't enough to form a pattern, but can at least imply a direction. With the changes to the badge UI in Issue 13, we got more informative progress bars and hint texts. My speculation is that now, someone has decided to go through all of those hints, names and descriptions for badges and see if any were awarding in ways contrary to same in a very literal fashion. Hence, Reformed, with both name and description implying a villain that switched sides, and the Artisan series, with texts that explicitly state that they are for Invention crafting, get changed.

Those changes are logical and valid, from a literalist point of view. The question becomes whether or not they are really wise decisions. My opinion of that is that they aren't. They are reductive changes that are only going to serve to alienate members of the community. They are minor annoyances, to be sure, but those are often worse than painful changes. With a big, painful change, it happens and it's over, like a short, sharp headache. Minor annoyances, on the other hand, are like a long, dull discomfort at the base of the skull, they may not cause you to have to immediately stop what you're doing and address them, but they make it hard to focus on what you're doing over a longer term. At least, that what it's like for me. Those minor annoyances stick with me for a long time and add up. I've quit jobs and dropped classes over a build up of such little things in real life.

I would ask here that those in charge reconsider before continuing on this literalist path, even if there are very few more things in the game that need to be changed to reflect the literal meaning of the text. Instead, think about changing the text to something more ambiguous and just leave the methods of earning these things as they are. It will make for less headaches (Yes, I referenced my own metaphor from the previous paragraph. Wanna make something of it? ) for you and your customers in the future.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think this sums it up nicely and reasonably.

    Bravo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can buy that with the Reformed badge, but, isn't crafting an brainstorm using the invention table to invent something from a component?
  24. [ QUOTE ]

One note though Victorious, its not that less people are running them, its just that less people are pugging them. If you're having trouble finding people to run the SFs you may just want to find a new SG. Get involved in one that is very active. Get involved in the correct global channels for your server. On infinity at any given day or time of day I can get on a SF no problem. I usually end up running 2/3 a night, not including respecs here and there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If it wasn't for my VG I wouldn't ever run SF's it seems. Virtue, for being a very populated server, just doesn't have a whole lot of redside stuff going on. Even in our big LFG channel. I can always find a hero side TF to get into though.
