you just referenced Batman:Year Two... that in itself renders your argument invalid.

You realize Batman originally used a gun, right?
For two or three issues. Bob Kane deep sixed the gunslinging Batman and even brought in the 'no killing' policy a little while later. so yes, he used a gun, and then they took it away. Therefore, gunslinging Batman is bad.

  8. a lot of these end issues have been pieces of crap. The Titans one was probably the capper of the bunch. A mini i should have avoided was the search for Swamp Thing series, that thing was gawd awful. Its like the guy who wrote it didnt even read Brightest Day. I was having Battle for the Cowl flashbacks with how wretched it was. JSA was another trainwreck. ugh. Bad enough im not looking forward to this reboot, but to close out the old DCU with a whimper, frak.
  9. The ones that come to mind at the moment would be Abrahm's new Star Trek, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and the first two Star Wars prequels. Good casts, but those movies were just god awful.
  10. On the American side, i dont think there's many scifi series & popular movies that i haven't seen at one time or another. If it was ever on the scifi channel, i've probably seen at least a handful of episodes of it. There are shows i didn't get into, but not ones i havent seen.

Now as for various British scifi shows and anime, yeah, there's quite a bit. The ones that come to mind are Red Dwarf, Spaced, and virtually all the Gundam series. Probably a lot of others, but Netflix is helping with that, sadly, so is being unemployed. bleh.
  11. Im down with this, looks like it will be fun.

To be honest, Ultimate Marvel didn't really start ******* the bed continuity-wise until a year or so before Ultimatum. So they lasted around 7 or 8 years before hitting the fan.

if it's a good flick and they dont spend stupid amounts of money to make it, does it NEED a good fan base already in order to make it profitable?

eh, i wouldnt go that far. The first 2 movies were good, but i won't watch the sequels again as they all slip into crappy sequel territory. I also wouldn't call it a classic storyline, just old. (ill even go with 'original')

Then the trailers painted a pretty poor picture of the film. But, they were trailers, so ill grant the movie may be a lot different then marketed. It still doesn't make me want to spend money to go see it.

Death stars are expensive and the Empire went broke after the Hutts lowered the Empire's credit rating to AA-plus. It got especially hard once everyone stopped buying Correllian gunships in favor of those Mon Cal cruisers.

(oh right, back to this movie. no, frak this thing. im waiting for cable. sick of movies and their "RARGH! Hoo-mans eee-vil! making money eee-vil!" hollywood morality claptrap. go see Captain America again you dirty hippies!)
  17. The down side: only choosing 10 books out of that list. Think i spent half my choices tagging the books that absolutely should be on a top 100 list. Yea its a popularity contest, but given its being done by NPR, id like to think the people voting have actually read more than a handful of the books on the list.

The upside: a lot of stuff on that list i haven't read, so it'll be nice to expand my reading list over the next few months. hope to add them to whatever e-reader i end up getting.

I dont remember all 10 choices offhand, and while i didn't vote for some of them, it made me smile to see certain writers on that list. (Butcher, Sanderson, Abnett, Salvatore, Eddings, etc.)

    Congratulations!

Too much, not enough, screw with physics, travel around the world as a trickster god because i can.
  19. Well, i would've preferred to find out when i bought the comic, not a week beforehand FYVM USA Today. But im sticking with what i said when they first announced they were offing Peter. I'll get the rest of Fallout, which IMO has been some of Bendis's best work in years, and then just move on. Not that i dont dig the idea of a new Spider Man, i still miss Spidey 2099, i just think this is a good spot to step away from the Ultimate universe entirely. Ultimate spider-man was the last title i was reading with a Parker i liked as Spider-man, and i just outright refuse to go back to picking up the 616 titles.

Augh! Dammit, now it's stuck in my head. Frakker.

Totally digging the Green Lantern though.
  21. Now i want an FF cartoon in the same universe dammit.

    DOOM!
  22. Go get the current IDW Transformers comics. They do movie adaptations too, just ignore those and get the awesome that is "All Hail Megatron".
  23. Interesting. Think ill be giving this a shot.
  24. Saw it last night and went in with some pretty high expectations, and for the most part this movie nailed them. Was very cool seeing all the easter eggs thrown in there for the fans (really Stan, a 4 star General? pfft. :P ) Also glad to see that red Skull looked good and that the shield throwing looked damned awesome. I even genuinely felt bad for him when they first used him as a propaganda tool.

I had a couple minor gripes, but nothing that kept me from enjoying the movie. Definitely going to be picking up the soundtrack. though not a fan of 'Star spangled Man', the rest of the score pretty cool. dont know when im gonna be able to get around to it again, but im gonna definitely try to make time to see this one in theaters again.

If only to try and sate my cravings for next years Avengers movie.
