Quote:Just got one doing my costume mission to defeat 20 Tsoo when I defeated a grey Tsoo boss.Haven't read the thread yet, but I would have sworn Enhancement converters drop from grey cons, even the ones far below your level.
Also have only skimmed the thread, but this is where my head is.
1) You do it for the kitten, not the influence.
2) You still get stuff for greys. Tips, Badges, Converters.
I think they still give inspirations when they chase you and say TY, but I'm not 100% sure. -
I feel like those simple costumes aren't really storied though. You take Superman vs Iron Man for example. Superman is a guy in a suit 'with powers' it's not that Iron Man's story is 'better' or that his costume is 'better', it's just you can SEE his story IN his costume. You can see that a half demon is a half demon, a water/fire/earth elemental is as such.
Take 'The Shadow' vs 'The Phantom'. Going after evil doers. What is the Phantom about? Purple tights and guns, and a skull ring. What is that? (Billy Zane... SLAM EVIL! - LOL) Then there's the Shadow. Hat, cowl, trench coat. You know what this guy is. He is the dark hero, who is going to mess people up and be all mysterious. You know as soon as this guy is on the cover, as soon as the radio guy describes him, and as soon as he walks on set. That's what those clothes MEAN. A costume like The Phantom's doesn't do that.
lol wut?
BAMF right here...
Unless you're Batman.
Batman does just fine in tights.
But that's Batman... -
lol'd...
Force Bubble. The lv32 FF power...
I know that that sounds absolutely crazy compared to this other stuff, but I have always been one of those people who stuck to low levels. The few 50's I've had didn't do much after hitting 50, and while in the high end I had just never grouped with a high end bubbler in a situation where they used it.
I made one on a whim (FF/AR) and loved holding a spot with it while spamming burst so much I rerolled my main to FF/BR and he's set in stone. My favorite character and my main for as long as I play.
This time coming back to the game, it seems there's a lot more to do at 50 so I might just incarnate a few characters... -
Quote:No. Just highlight the power and check the duration vs the recharge. Click the little black dot on the end of a power to turn it green and mids will consider that power to be in effect. Hasten, in this case, you want to make sure is turned on then see if hasten recharges in less time than it's duration (so you can cast it again before it's over.). Same with Chrono Shift.Secondly, does this build acheive perma hasten/Chrono Shift? I'm not sure how to factor that simply from mids.
Neither are perma because their durations are shorter than their recharge leaving a gap where they're not in effect. Need more recharge bonuses to get there. -
Crowd Control and Shatter both show a range of 8 for scrappers. o.o
I don't have a WM/X scrapper yet (that's what I was thinking about rolling for the 10th time and still haven't...) But I have a bane. Mids says the bane version of Crowd Control is only 7, but their Shatter is 10. I will try to get a Dmg/Range HO and throw it in there to see what happens. -
Just noticed that in Mid's Hero Designer I can put a Damage/Range Hami-o into melee cone attacks that do not normally take range enhancements and the range number goes up. Is this a mistake, or can you make melee attacks hit larger areas with these? o.O
-
This is my new main. I want to play him through all incarnate stuff, but also randomly PuG GM's and zone events and solo. My goals for this are:
Gapless attack chain (Check)
Softcap Melee/Ranged/AoE defenses (Check)
Solid stats on aid other/self. (Check)
Run everything+dakka with a good endurance situation. (Could be better?)
I'm looking for critique on endurance usage. If anyone has a BR how does my endo look to you? Is there any little tweak you see that could cut back on my endo consumption or up my regen rate? I plan to use boosters on the -END IO's in Assault and Force Bubble. If I use boosters on the +DEF IO's in the two buff bubbles, I could probably get away with just two of those instead of three to free up two slots if you have a good idea for them to help my endo situation. Maybe get the other health set procs that affect endurance and throw them in health.
Of course, I'm also new to the whole IO set and incarnate scene. Maybe I've made some glaring mistake someone could point out to me.

Echoing lack of good weapon models.
That's why I haven't rolled it yet. :P -
WOW - I have always hated burned wings and never thought outside their box like that. They do look perfect for ragged flora and spores/pollen.
Mind blown. -
I work nights and tend to be online from midnight to 7am and often find myself forced to pick between DFB and solo... obviously DFB gets old LOL.
I'd like to make a completionist character. Something to go do all the arcs and get all the available badges playing largely solo, and I would very much like to fight AV's and Elite Bosses from as early as possible. My first thought was a MM, but I worry about pet survival against AV's and GM's, especially without an endgame build.
Now I'm adding scrapper to the mix. I like weapons and still don't have a weapon/shield or staff character. I'm pretty sure I want to do mace/shield and there's not a mace in the game so far that really hits me right (lol), so staff/X is probably where I'd go. In order to cheese some missions, I might want invisibility without giving up a pool... that gives me Energy and Dark armors, of which I really prefer Energy.
Just looking for general brainstorming from veteran badge seekers. -
You won't think that when you see it in-game. It took me four tries to get the red/blue screen shot the damn things are so reflective. They are SUPER shiny and obviously some high polish metal. You will think some over-the-top gun sci-fi like Blade or something.

I'm actually not even sure that it's possible to create a situation in which set bonuses don't function. As far as I'm aware they function while exemplared even when the enhancements they come from are grayed out. That could be wrong though. In any case, they do function while in forms.
Thanks. -
I'm not super experienced and I'm sure someone who is will weigh in, but I'm also interested and I really love the weapon sets for melee and ranged.
TW seems to be king just going by the numbers. Tons of AE that does decent damage, and still excellent single target damage.
In my own thread about what weapon to take with shield, the consensus was that war mace out classes axe and broadsword. Smashing is a much more agreeable damage type overall and the damage/AoE are in the right proportions, plus an absolutely RIDICULOUS single target attack in clobber (all bonuses in CoH are % based so raw damage is always welcome.).
Staff Fighting is getting mixed reviews across the forums, but looking over the set it appears to lean on utility that most players don't particularly value. I'm going to let that simmer for a while before I make a staff scrapper. See what the gurus come up with against pylons and what not. -
Do set bonuses placed in human form powers still work while in Nova/Dwarf form?
Checked the stickies and did page searches for 'set' and didn't get any results.
Thanks. -
Celestial rifle was finally something that looked like a grenade launcher for my SoA.
One of the first things I did when I returned was get out my old blaster, Lord VKhaun, and look at belts. Nothing had ever really worked for his belt, and that had still not changed. Nothing fit. Then I did the incarnate stuff for a night and got the celestial belt... changed my chest detail to match, and he's 'done'. This costume is exactly him and I don't want to change it anymore. It's funny, I don't actively play him and it wasn't until this thread that I actually logged on and finished tweaking the costume.

I highly recommend Dual Blades just because of sound and animations. The skills are interesting though the final move is a bit 'out there', and the combos make for a little something to do in the mid levels. Every time a new power set comes out lately someone is making a thread somwhere about how concrete on a stick sounds like a wiffle bat, or a staff lacks 'thwack', but dual blades has a very satisfying crunch when you hack at stuff. Not to mention it comes with 100% MORE WEAPONS than any other weapon based set.
I don't have a high enough level stalker to jump into the high end conversation going on here, but for someone new to the class I would definitely recommend /SR. Your basic stepping stones are always going to be the same: Softcap defenses and an endless attack chain. /SR accomplishes both by helping recharge and giving you OODLES of defense powers, plus those two things synergize because of Luck of the Gambler. The Luck of The Gambler set has an individual IO (not a set bonus) that provides -7.5% recharge, and it's in it's own category for the Law of Five, so you can get five of that AND five more set bonuses with -7.5%... if you have enough defense powers with free slots (5+) which /SR obviously does. -
Run DFB three times right out of the gate. They'll see the new trial and queue system, players and gameplay (both in and out of the DFB) will show them how level adjustment works, and they will quickly push past the early levels to a point where they have their basic power setup. They'll be at the neat lowbie Steel Canyon arcs very quickly.

Did I miss an alternate shoulder option?
I didn't see that long one. Sorry. -
Quote:This. LOLHow the hell a plane will drop a bomb inside a cave?? are they kamakasi style?
How the hell they are going to allow plane to fly over any civil area of paragon city droping bomb??
Welcome to City of WAR!!
You better have a bunker, because it raining bomb!
I agree with you on Serum though. I haven't played a MM past 30 in a long time so I hesitate to weigh in too much, but aside from general stats issues with the pets it's pretty clear there's a big gap in strength between the T7 powers and I think that's where a 'revamp' should happen if one did happen.
Have they ever actually swapped out a power on a live set? That may not be possible at all. I think rather than changing it to a killstreak reward we could just buff serum... have it hit ALL the pets, give it some neat effects, and/or rebalance the effects to make it reasonable to also alter it's recharge so it can be perma'd. -
Quote:I've wanted an AK with no stock since CoVillains came out... it's the quintessential 'bad guy' weapon IMO. One of those with an under barrel grenade launcher would be really sweet for AR and obviously not clip.Regarding the Rifle issue you mentioned... EVERY rifle modle in the game available to the AR set clips through the elbows. And yes, it is annoying.
I think the claws are most impressive of all. I am immediately sold on making a claws character again for the first time in YEARS. Whenever they updated the claws animations... I had just recently stopped playing a lowbie claws. Haven't touched the set -aside from a widow leveling up to Fortunata- since. -
K I think that's the last of them.
I'm really happy with the way the parts are built. Not only is there little or no clipping on the set, but you can pair the set pieces with whatever you like and they still meet up well. They are all nice and big, too. I think we needed more big options in the builder. Same kind of praise for the Mecha Wing 1. I love how compact and low it is when not flying, and we needed a wings detail that wasn't so huge when folded up behind you.
Yes... I know I mispelled 'pec' and 'trail', but whatevs I'm not reupping them to fix type-o's. :P -
Did I forget anything?
EDIT--
Yes I did. Chest details.
1sec... -
Quote:Looking through his posts now. The article at massively already revealed the whole armor set and multiple weapons though...Didn't Zwill ask that we don't post Mecca pics from Beta or is that no longer in effect?
EDIT--
Yeah, agree with the above.
Zwil's retraction was from 4/12...
