  1. Storm Summoning is probably the worst secondary for pairing with Electric Control, in terms of functionality. Storm Summoning has all kinds of knockback powers and repel type powers and other things that more or less play poorly with the fact that Electric Control prefers to keep things in one place without moving around. Since the AOE Immobilize of Electric Control doesn't prevent knockback or knockdown or repel, you can't even brute force the combo. So you basically would spend a lot of effort trying to mix the two. That doesnt mean you can't make it work. It just isn't a natural fit.

  2. I would want a melee character and a controller.

    So I would do my Super Strength / Super Reflexes Brute for the melee character.

    For the controller, its a tough call. I have so many and its my fave AT. It would either be my Ice/Storm, Illusion/Storm, or Earth/Storm. Tho recently my Fire/Sonic has been captivating me.

    I would probably go with the Ice/Storm only because I have the most Incarnate Goals for her. And with only 2 characters, I would probably be doing a lot of incarnate stuff.

  3. What about alternate animations?

    I would love a set of alternate animations where my character model doesnt touch the swords at all. Instead he could do various mental or spellcaster animations while the weapon, which floats (or gloats ) very close would spin and dance and strike.

    Basically they need a psychic / Telekinesis Titanic weapon set of animations, so I can make my Wizard who mentally wields a Black Blade Of Disaster. And my fire armor and fire epic on my Wizard could be my Fire Shield and Fireball spells. Yeah. Psychic Warrior Archmagi Brute for the awesome!

  4. I like Mercs/Storm.

    Storm makes any set more fun. I love the team stealth. I love the crazy knockback and knockdown powers. They keep things off balance while my mercs shoot enemies in the head. The set has a single target heal also. Finally, freezing rain has a resist debuff, which helps the mercs a lot. Oh! The mercs are mainly ranged too, so they can shoot bad guys, even when tornado is flinging the foes around the room.

  5. I think both anime and superhero comics have embarassing / stupid corners to their universes. Garish clashing tights and untenable disguises for comics. Giant swords and school uniforms as costumes in anime.

    So I am definitely gonna get Titan weapons to make a giant nerf sword school jacket pink and green tights and glasses-wearing schoolboy. I think I will also make a different character who has all 10 costumes as a result of clicking random, but each will have the same nerf sword. And maybe a trenchcoat. Finally, if they make a big freakin club, I will make a caveman or frost giant of some type.

    So yeah, I am in the "this is stupid, but stupid is good" camp. Good times!

  6. Whenever I am playing a Stormie, I like playing with another Stormie. Storm powers from different players will combine really well. Plus, you can go as wild as you like with no guilt. Another controller could be fun, but consider playing a defender or a corruptor. A storm/sonic defender would be nice. Lots of resist debuffs, plus in a duo, defenders get a 20% damage bonus still.

  8. All,

    Well, lots of people ask about Fire/Kin builds. These are a pair of dirt cheap farmers. By that, I mean that they have capped smashing/lethal defense, so they can earn money and rewards in certain environments rather efficiently, if that is your thing.

    The first build is SUPER CHEAP but doesn't have Cinders.

    The second build is still pretty cheap. Even the 2 basilisk sets it uses are optional for recharge. The only expensive part you need to softcap Smashing/Lethal defense is the one Kinetic Combat set.

    Anyway, my opinion is that you should MAKE money on a farmer, not spend money. Therefore, these are builds that pretty much anyone can afford. If you want to make a serious hardcore Fire/Kin that costs crazy money, you can.

    I especially like the second build, because it has all the tools you need to simply be a great team-mate and all-around player as well.

  9. All,

    OK this character is one of those painful ones. Man what an endurance hog. Even with the T4 Cardiac (which I dont even have the T1 Cardiac yet), the end cost is insane. But if you turn off Disruption Field the end cost is manageable, and if you also turn off Hot Feet, its downright low.

    But this guy is the little Tank who could. Kinda.

    He only has 35% global recharge, and most of that is from LOTG stuff. But other than the LOTGs I have this build on Live right now. Despite his crushing endurance costs, I was able to solo tank / complete the alpha mission to unlock the Alpha. I cant wait to start working on Cardiac.

    So yeah, this guy doesnt have a little recharge, but WOW. Almost softcapped range and AOE, and with Smoke, they are soft-capped. Also, 75% Smashing/Lethal resistance, and good resists to everything else (esp Fire and Cold). And hey, he provides resist bubbles for teams.

    This guy was painful to level up over the course of a couple of years, WAY back in the day (I made him back when sonic was first opened up to Controllers). But after the cursing and screaming, it was eventually a labor of love. Well, in retrospect.

    This is my endgame perma-dom, right at perma-hasten, almost range-capped Dominator. I dont have Propel, because I am just not that into it. If you really wanted it, you could drop Rise of the Phoenix, slide all the powers and slots around using the same end set bonus results, and have Lift unslotted and Propel inserted with the full Thunderstrike set instead. But again, I prefer no Propel.

    This is my favorite melee character. It is a concept character, so there isn't any optimizing with Gloom or any such stuff. This is just a soft-capped, perma-hasten SS/SR Brute. He has to have the Alpha to hit perma-hasten, but even without it, he is pretty cool. I have a SS/EA I like almost as much, but this one is my fave.

  12. Here is my endgame Ice/Storm build. It has decent recharge, the Cardiac T4, softcapped Ranged, Softcapped (or close) S/L defense, and 40% defense to AOE. Yes, it uses the PVP IO, but that is the only one I lack in my actual build. My bid is placed and in 1.5 years it will come through. If you aren't willing, simply move the level 40 steamy mist slot over to Lightning Storm, go with the full Thunderstrike set, and you'll still be range-capped and high on everything else.

  13. I believe that, for those of us who will try to precisely folllow the requested title format, we may need a place to put a purpose (beyond mere pvp or pve) in the header/title.

    I propose that clarifications go at the end. Example:

    SHARING - PVE - Controller - Ice Control / Force Fields - MIDS' Included - Soloing build 1-50

    Thoughts?

    Also we might want to tighten up the Mids part. Maybe have MIDS or NOMIDS there.

  15. Good team buffing illusionists would be ill/cold and ill/empathy. Ill/emp in particular is a great all-around support set. Buffs, heals, full invisibility, phanyom army, deceive. Illusion/cold would also be great, and better against hard targets, but still quite team friendly.

    I havent tried illusion/thermal but it should be a great set. Boys (PA), deceive, buffs, debuffs, heals, full invis for stealth healing, etc. I would expect it to excel.

    Of course, defenders are great too, I just prefer control to blasting. But you could always go with support/blast. Good stuff!

    Well my comments were largely minor.

    As for the BoI, it is nice to have damage but you have actual attacks, so not a big deal.

    For the AA, I have heard that you get an improved effect by hitting 95% confuse on it, but I will admit that I dont recall why. unless I have some specific set goal, I usually slot it Malaise acc/end, Malaise conf/end, coercive confuse, coercive confuse/end, and coercive contagious. Sixth slot can pe skipped or I could put in a slow or a proc.

    But it was all minor comments. Overall it seemed fine. My ice/ff (level 50) went with the ice epic for the theme match but stone is a great epic.

  17. I think an illusion/rad conttoller would be great. Soloing, team support, AV duties, this combo will make you question why you ever used the term 'versatile' for a melee character. Also, the style of control and support it offers feels radically different than a grav/energy dom feels.

    I think a fire/storm corruptor can be a beast too if you want something ranged.

    I also think that thugs/traps makes a great mastermind character. Or robot/traps.

  18. I think Illusion / Storm controllers are the bees' knees. At low levels, lots of the illusion powers are skippable or can be delayed, which lets you play with the storm powers early on. Plus its a powerful combo later.

    Otherwise, all the storm controllers are fun. Ive played them all to level 50 except for elec/storm (only 33). You just about cant go wrong. Plant, fire and earth go particularly well (after illusion of course ).

    For masterminds, I really enjoy Robots and Demons. I played in a necro/storm trio for a while. Fun thing about storm masterminds is that if you skip most of the mastermind personal attack powers, you have plenty of extra slots for the storm side.

    I also played rad, energy, psi and sonic storm defenders to 50. Sonic is a great soloer (-resist stacking) & a storm/energy defender is crazy fun ... mine is the Queen of Knockback for sure. Good times.

    I havent done much with Corruptors, but I have a new fire/storm corruptor that is already a beast in the making.

    It looks like your total confuse amount in AA is a bit low. You want to "red it out" for confuse (95%+).

    There are prob better choices for frankenslotting Block of Ice for both holds and damage. I just cant provide one now easily.

    You might want the Mako quad for seismic smash just to max the damage ... Assuming I am looking at that right.

    There might be things I missed but I am browsing on a small phone.

  21. Rather than farming normal missions, we farmers have been hitting up the secret CoT level. You have to find the guy with the peg leg on the island that ... Oh well, that would be telling.

    But once you find First Mate Wirt, before you know it youll be farming up the CoT King and his ghostly CoT minions fof sweet rares.

    Can a SR character even do much with +HP? It doesnt seem to have powers that give you much to build from. I do have decent regen tho, plus I have AidSelf.

    Should I shoot for the normal defense cap or the incarnate one? My SR/MA build is permahasten, has aid self, and has 60% to 65% defense range, aoe and melee, not counting the MA attack. And this character should really be SR if I am honest with myself about his theme.

  25. I played with mids and a Rad/Pois build and, with the gladiator global def, I hit 44.5% or so to smashing, ranged, and aoe. Kinda sick. And thats not counting the point blank hit debuff cloud. Is that thing enhancable? Anyway, the downside was that I only had 32% or so global recharge, and no hasten. But hey.
