I'm not quite sure I follow the question. If indeed that patch never got implemented, I'd sure be curious to know why it's in the patch notes.

Yet, on this latest patch, they state that the UI and log-on/password issue is fixed, but clearly, this wasn't the case.

    <shrug>

I guess it all depends on what they feed the gerbils that run the wheel that powers these contraptions we call computers.
  2. <doh!> I promise, I will learn to read one day.

    Thanks for the correction.
  3. So that leaves me with a decision - is this level of support - which is normally far better - poor enough to warrant my departure from VIP status. Incarnate content is the only bone thrown to VIP folks at my tier level.

I suppose there are other games to play. I'll have some thinking to do.
  4. Ah, patience - a lost virtue for some.

I recently (and still do) had an issue arise with the reward table for the UGT. We succeeded. However, at the conclusion, instead of getting a rare/very rare as promised in the patch notes of November 10, I got a common.

So, I sent a petition in. Obviously, forum rules prohibit my communication with support be made public. Suffice it to say, that I got a canned response, so I sent a reply. Then, I sent an additional response, as I'd finally found the patch notes (knew I'd seen it somewhere, but couldn't recall where at the time) and included the url to them.

I was then told that the matter was being forwarded to the development team. To me, this feels like the same as the round file. I've never, ever heard back from the development team for any petition I've filed.

So what will happen? something? nothing? or something 8 months from now? Anyone have any experience with this that can shed some light?
  5. I do wish I had read this feedback before I wasted 400 points on this.

Where's the gun belt with holster for the females? Mine has two guns, but darned if I know where she keeps them when she's not firing at someone.

This is not a gunslinger outfit. This is a harlot/woman of ill repute outfit. I realize that a lot of the devs are catering to an adolescent playerbase, but I'm old enough to watch real hentai if I wanted to.

I suppose you're going to make me pay extra for something that should have come with the bundle in the first place.

I give up. I'll never spend another point on anything costume related again.

First time I've had this happen, since it's always been either taken out the day it's actually due or at least processed the next day.
First, I'm sorry this happened to you. Overdraft fees are heinous and should really be reined in by some governing body. Most folks don't bounce checks because they're rolling in cash, and those fees certainly don't improve the situation.

As someone who is intimate with the workings of banks, I would strongly urge you to first- pay the fees, and secondly, make an appointment with your branch manager. They have a lot of latitude with those fees. They can waive them if they wish. Most of the time, all that's needed is a compelling reason to do so. It is Christmas season, and who better than a bank manager to know that times are hard.

However, times are hard for the bank, too. Although I sympathize, CoH could not pull those funds from your account without your authority. I would also speak with someone on the 1-800 number and ask them to mail you a letter that you can show your bank manager; something that shows why things went bump in the night, so to speak.

I'm fairly certain that the most you'll get from CoH is an apology for pulling the funds early, but I do think given the circumstances that they would write a letter on your behalf. It might take them until well after January, but one can never be sure until you ask.
In my case, when I renewed my sub, I was hoping they'd take it at the point in time I renewed it, so that if things went short with me, it would be the silly fee my bank charges instead. Heh, the banks always seem to get paid first.

And remember, although this was an accident, it certainly isn't the banks fault. Although the fees are high, the bank is also charged by the fed for insufficient funds. Certainly not as much, but they will always want to cover their costs, as they typically have shareholders to worry about.

Again, sorry to hear of your misfortune, hope the negotiations go well.

As for the rest of you, this is a good time to realize that taking baked goodies to your banker is ALWAYS a good idea. Build relationships with your banker! You'll likely need them long before they need you. Despite what you may hear, they always have some latitude with loans.

Are you saying that if I run it on Monday at noon, get my hero merit, I can run it again at 12:10pm - just log off and wait until the next monday at 12:30 (or so)before I claim the reward - and the reward table would change?

Playing unreleased content is not a right like some people want to claim. If you want to play unreleased content, hold up your end of the deal and report a bug when you find it. It takes, literally, less than a minute to file a bug report, but you don't want to be bothered because it's "not your job". Even though the devs are letting you play stuff that hasn't been released yet.
This is where people lose me in this debate. Why would anyone want to play untested, unreleased content? Heck, I don't even want to play the new stuff when it hits live. I still want to go back to pre-ed when things were simple. Now, there're all these extra tools and tricks to "purple-out" a toon, and soft cap, etc.

I never, ever, ever asked for new content. I never expected it. I don't see the point in having new content.

New animations, new powers, new quality of life stuff, sure. But Croatoa? I like it, but I never asked for that. I still don't understand what was wrong with continuing to run missions through Talos, IP, Bricks and Founders.

I DO understand that people get tired of stuff. I get that. (I'm not totally crazy) But, I don't. I like the same things, the same way. I like to compete with myself. Take a tank, run a mission, see how long it took. Take a scrapper, do the same mission, same setting, compare. Repeat with brute, scrapper, different kind of tank, etc. That's just me, and I know it. I can't expect everyone (or anyone) to be like me.

However, you're suggesting that Beta is a privilege - that's your perspective, and you've a right to feel that way. But me, I only go there when the servers are down. I have no interest in looking for bugs or even playing as normal - because if I do get a purple drop - it's wasted. I can't bring it to live where I'd use it. I can't sell it, or email it to myself - it's counter-productive. To me, beta is a time sink. The only purpose it serves to me is to see if Afterburner is fast enough, or if Spring attack is any different from Shield Charge.

But, like I say, that's just me.

I know on my server, so many people are trying Titan Weapons, and were eagerly awaiting it. I wasn't. I really could not care less about it.

    PL me!!!!!!!

You might try the temp power xp booster, and the Experienced temp as well (but only after you run out of patrol xp)

For other tricks - if you have enough willing friends - teams of 8
provide an xp boost over smaller teams and solo.

Run them at +2/8. Generally speaking, solo or teamed, that provides the greatest return.

Also, doing missions in pvp zones give an extra percentage of xp. (I'm not sure how much. And I know it used to 5 years ago - but I left the game and came back, so that may have changed.)

Mission Arcs upon completion also give a bonus amount of XP. Not 5 bars of xp like the weekly, but every bit helps.

If you had mentioned any experience farming, I'd suggest AE, as the ambush/patrol missions have the npcs coming to you, as opposed to you zig-zagging through missions to find them.

    Hope that helps.

    Just a thought, y'know.

    Huh?

This is something I've never quite understood. The gaming industry is so ...unlike any other industry.

A business makes a product. But, instead of the makers ensuring that the product is quality work, they put it in this Beta test phase, where unknown gamers are asked to test it. I could understand if the the testers were software developers with knowledge of terms like "look and feel" and "intuitive". (in all fairness, some are quite knowledgeable)

And then, some folks report back errors. Some are fixed, some are not.

The thing is, you can't chide people for not adequately testing things in beta.
It is not any players job to test things out in beta. No one gets paid a thing.

I read the (philisophical)argument over and over. "If you're not going to beta test, then don't complain about the bugs!"
It is flawed from the original premise. I am a customer who pays for goods and services. It is not my job to ensure that these service work properly.

That is the job of game developers. They are paid for this. We are not.
Times are tough, and time is our most precious resource. If I am to spend time on Beta, you will need to pay me for that time. It really is as simple as that.

The counter argument - "Well, you'd better be prepared to pay more each month if you want that kind of quality."

Huh? The market place has plenty of other things I could spend my money on. They either want my business, or they do not. I think they do.

That being said, I think this game tries very hard to put out a quality product. And, I am also thinking that when things do go wrong, they do what they can to fix it. However, even though many of us have some experience in code, or in Software Analysis, or IT, none of us are really qualified to speak on any issue regarding the challenges the dev team face with their code except them. We don't know all the facts and any comments made comparing our own respective experiences with what they're doing is pure speculation.

Myself, I'd like it if they raised the monthly fee to about 25 bucks a month and put that money not into useless costumes or powersets but to increase in game quality of life issues. Like a portal, and/or train to RWZ, Cimerora and the other end of Independance Port.
Revamp task forces that require excessive zoning in and out of the contacts zone.
Make all mission maps within 500 yards of the contact that gives the mission.
Shorten the timer of the temp tp powers back to what it was.

    Etc.

    gifting CoH?

I second this. I have a few friends in game who are going through some rough times. It'd be nice if I could gift them a free month from time to time. Expecially since I have to pay tax when I get a game time card at GameStop. Every bit helps.

As to the OP, why are you unable to buy the time cards online? If you can surf, you should be able to plug in a credit card number and buy them.

  15. Finally, the mystery is revealed.

Years ago, I took a software engineering course. I washed out because I couldn't do the higher math stuff. But, even though I found this trial fun overall, there were a lot of things that weren't intuitive. I'd asked a leaguemate after our second or third washout how they fared in Beta - and how they knew what to do. Because the games mission objectives don't make it clear. A shame, really. Because it IS a fun trial.

For you folks that know me, I pretty much am "meh" at almost everything new. If I say it's fun, you all should think it's better than donuts!

Thanks for taking the time to post this.

Try to keep in mind - unless you're running this with the exact same group of people, there's not really going to be a valid comparison.

On your earlier runs, perhaps there were several slow debuffs, limiting the recharge rate.

Invariably, people are people. They want to tier 4 their incarnate powers - I think it's fair to say we all want to. But when this is accomplished, you've gotten your badges, you probably have other toons that could use a little iXP and more salvage and astrals and empyreans. Then, you've gone from a strong incarnate to a weak one. I've had a few on my leagues that weren't even level shifted. It makes a big difference. However, it's an investment I'm willing to make. The experience helps them, they get stronger and then they can help my weaker incarnates get the goodies they need.

This is what makes you a pleasure to team with. I'm afraid I came right out and asked one of the league members why they didn't check out the guides. I have made so many macros to try and explain things, I've no more room for temp powers, if I should ever come across any. Fortunately, players like yourself take a few moments in what may be an otherwise hectic day to learn more about how things are happening in a given event. In all honesty - the tactics used are not complicated in the least- - but the implementation of them can be tricky - particularly when one or more leaguemembers either don't know, misunderstand or just disregard instructions.

And, of course, it's also possible I give too much instruction and overloaded people with information.
  19. Ukaserex

    Ugt

Yeah, I was pretty sure of that, had gotten confirmation of that prior to last nights run.

If phase 1 goes well on Friday, I'm not gonna care -- if we have one toon on the league that has an attack that exceeds a range of 150 feet, that person will get a work out.

The lining up on dual sides of that hallway - theoretically, could and should work - but some folks are faster on the draw. After the first bomb on the left went down, I advanced to the next, and there was only a couple of people by me, instead of a bunch - which is what I was expecting. Probably my fault for not mashing a forward! macro. Hard to move forward and use macros and mash attacks at the same time.
  20. I am by no means an expert on anything kinetic.

But, why not consider losing the kin combat set in brawl? Add a 6th slot to your nuke and get the same defense %'s. You would lose some hit points, but let's be honest, that's not why you're using kin combats in brawl.

    /monitorattribute confuse protection

(borrowed/stolen from VooDoo Girl's UGT guide)

But, I do. And during the trial this past Friday night, I don't think my confuse protection dropped below 24 for more than a moment in our travels to the Avatar. While fighting the Avatar, I saw it drop to 15 - but I still was not confused and used my own clarion to drive us past 40, I think it was.

In any event, your efforts are appreciated. I just hope we have about 6 ranged folks with a range of greater than 150 feet.

I'm torn tonight between using Xtreme Raze's strategy of having two seperate teams of 6 just rush on opposite sides, or just sniping the darn things. Supposedly, they have a range of 150 feet. So, if we can snipe from 155 feet (or so), it may take a while, but we should be able to do it.

The know the counter starts its count from 10 when someone gets in range, what I do not know if said counter will also start if the bomb takes damage. From what I have read, the answer is no - snipes should work. So, if we have the range, we will try that.
If not, we'll go with plan B.

And if that doesn't work, next Friday, I'll try something really crazy.

If you find yourself on a server where the leaders are telling you that you can't join their league because you don't have a specific ability, it's time to transfer your toon to a different server.

True, it IS very frustrating to have to explain to people over and over again the ins and outs of a given trial. However, that's what macro's are for!

I've led 5 UGTs and let any level 50 VIP join. The first two were just ugly, sad, pathetic results - but some astrals were earned, plenty of iXP, and now the folks that were not level shifted are - and the last three have gone smooth as silk.

Not allowing folks into your league is plain foolish for long term success.( i.e. What's that leader gonna do when it's time to bring his alt into the trials? Grind until he has t3 clarion via BAF and LAM because no one will let him in UGT?)

Sure, you may have a few ugly runs because of Confuse (Hello? Bring some escapes, 90 seconds of relief from confuse!) but the good will that's earned will surprise people. Tit for tat, as they say.

However, if your incarnate power choices could be picked by me, yeah, I'd like it if you had t4 clarion. For your alpha, I'd want you to have Agility - so you could have that boost to defense. The less you get hit, the more likely you are to survive to use Clarion.
