It's my friends birthday today, and I was wondering if i could somehow buy him a VIP sub as a present. He's an old player but hasn't subbed for a few years. I'm always trying to get him back in, and maybe a freebie is a good way to do it!

I know he can play for free anyway, but i think the Incarnate stuff will interest him, plus he needs to be able to use the base etc.

If he already has an account you can buy him a time card and he can use it to reactivate his account.

Sadly, I can't buy timecards in my country.

If he uses Steam, could you gift him it on that? Not sure how it would work with a previous account, but he should at least get that first month free, especially when they do their offers to get it cheap

Well I know you want him to have it as a gift, but why not use paypal, or pay him the difference of cost. Since he's been out a few years, he'd also be eligible for the special that would also grant you both more time...

That's a good idea, he does use Paypal.

Shame there's not an easy way via the NCSoft Store, using his account name.

I'm not sure what you mean about an easy way, but you can pay for subscription time directly with Paypal once you are logged into your master account.

Ooh. Sorry to hear that. Uhm Since I see paypal has been mentioned I'll toss another idea out there. Do they sell prepaid credit/gift cards where your at? As a gift they have the advantage of being able to be reloaded and if lost/stolen/ or used fraudulently your friend is insured and will get his money back. Also they can't be used to for identity theft.

Most likely MrCaptainMan means not having to go thru a third party company when he says an easy way.

I see. It would be nice if NCSoft directly allowed us to "gift" time to another Master Account.

You would think as long as they (NCSoft) are looking for ways to take our money they'd pick up on the ways we want to give them money.

I second this. I have a few friends in game who are going through some rough times. It'd be nice if I could gift them a free month from time to time. Expecially since I have to pay tax when I get a game time card at GameStop. Every bit helps.

As to the OP, why are you unable to buy the time cards online? If you can surf, you should be able to plug in a credit card number and buy them.

RMT Companies + "Gift" = Fraud issues.

Just to clarify the 'offer for extra time' aka the Refer-a-friend promotion doesn't offer more VIP time when used anymore. It does however grant the referrer and referee 500pp each so you can get some nice things from the paragon market.

500 RaF + 400 VIP stipend = 900pts to spend, enough for a premium powerset and maybe one or two individual costume pieces.

My understanding of you post is that this shouldn't be done because RMTers will use stolen credit cards to gift time to themselves. How is that different from buying time with stolen credit cards?

Not only to themselves but time and paragon points to RMT customers. How hard would it be for them to create a Free account load it up with PL'd characters then use a stolen CC to buy points and a years sub and sell it to some dumb schmuck stupid enough to give them another credit card number.

Then steal the account back, change the password, and sell it again.

How many times do you think they could do this in a month starting with just one stolen card number before someone catches on and cancels the card.

There are parts of the world where this kind of thing is so rampant NCSoft won't even accept any CC charges from and force customers to put everything thru third parties to make purchases.

Oh an these thieves are smart enough not to use stolen CC numbers in the same game. They'll use CC numbers from WoW accounts to pay for stuff here and vice versa. Anything to make it more confusing to straighten out.

I was not posting why I thought they should not, but rather the biggest reason they do not.
