Quote:How worth is end drain outside of PVP? No matter how low you get a NPC enemy's endurance, they will still be able to attack you and still have defenses. With PVE end drain seems pointless.Ion has the greatest potential number of targets to hit over the greatest area it can affect due to the chaining mechanic. The Radial tract and has a chance to Hold and end drain. This is your go-to for thinning large crowds quickly.
Pyronic excels at doing damage to tightly clustered enemies. The Radial tract has a chance to Stun. The Core tract can cause a Superior DoT afterburn. This is the Judgement you want for targeting an AV and dealing heavy damage to them and those around them.
Void is PBAoE. The Negative Energy damage is attractive and often less resisted and the Radial tract causes a damage debuff to the enemies it doesn't kill.
Cryonic is a cone and deals Cold damage. The Radial tract slows and has a chance to hold enemies. Because of the issues people have with cones, it's generally regarded as the least attractive Judgement

If you are leveling this up from level 1 you will want to take Taunt at level 10. It is too good of a tanking tool to leave for later levels. At lower levels before you get your Taunt Aura it is good for getting aggro. Later it is good for pulling bad guys away from team mates.
You also can not take Unstoppable if you want. There is much debate, but if you are in a fight lasting more than 2 minutes and Unstoppable crashes, you will most likely die.
Other than that it is a good build. You may want to pull slots out of Health and put it into Resist Physical damage. -
Judgement is colorable at the tailor. Is red not an option?
I always tend to go for Pyronic for my Judgement choice. The only exception is my DM/Regen Scrapper who will get Void, just to keep with the dark theme. There is just something awesome with Pyronic and that targeted AoE goodness. Especially on my Fire/Kin/Fire controller. -
I have to agree with Sam. Challenging forces to me to use all my tricks to succeed, makes me push myself and the character.
Difficult can just be painful and no fun. The Lambda Trial in Beta was painful and difficult for me. I hated it and didn't see much point in a trial that just killed you every 5 seconds.
After getting used to it I find it challenging. I am confident I can succeed, but I have to put forth maximum effort. It is not a snooze fest where I can be on auto pilot.
So yeah, challenging, in my mind, is very different from difficult. -

OP, thank you!
I have been asking for fingers for a long time. At this point I don't even care about how much work would be needed to add fingers. We need to have fingers like a big-boy game.
The mittens was a poor design 7 years ago. This game is only a tiny bit older than WoW and they have fingers.
Simply speaking it is time for fingers at all costs. -
But would a female server solve the problem? I'm guessing the the server would only be for people who are female in real life and not the gender of your toons. Just because the server is populated only with women, would that eliminate all harassment? What, women can't harass others?
Also, I wonder how an all women server would be enforced. Can the game look at the gender of the persons profile and lock them out? How soon before guys start new accounts and claim to be female just so they can get access to the female only server?
I think it is better to use the social management tools that the game has already. -
Nothing jumps out at me as being wrong. It seems a solid build. I approve of your choice for Alpha boost.

Quote:Yeah, that's just nonsense there. That's a horrible reason for making their taunt aura less effective. I'm not seeing the correlation. WP gets psi protection so it gets a weak taunt aura? Not making sense.I asked castle on this a while back and he said it was done intentionally because WP got protection for psionics and knockback protection. Noticed how every set that gets psionic protection has that knockback vulnerability? Well a weaker taunt aura was the trade off for that. To me thats dumb to penalize powersets on things that they need to do their job. It kind of goes back to when tanks used to have single target taunt and everyone took provoke because it worked so much better. It took alot of screaming about it to finally get it changed for tanks back in the earlier issues. Right now this part about the knockback has gone on too long and I dont see them changing it for the powersets or fixing the taunt aura issue. Quite honestly I see them actually fixing gravity control finally before they fix WP taunt aura. In terms of managing it, just tell your friend that if she knocks it back she just bought it and that is how you stop people from scattering stuff you have aggroed or keeps them engaging groups ahead of time.

So how does Invulnerability stack up compared to Willpower for Scrappers. I know it's great for tanks.
-
BaBs is old and has no TF. He is most likely to die.
-
I'll have to reserve judgement until I can see it in action. After Dual Blades I'm a bit leery of combo powersets.

I thought more regen was what you wanted for Willpower.

As long as scrappers can't have Super Strength, I will have no joy.

Quote:I would disagree somewhat. 4 slotting attacks with 2 IOs from 2 different sets doesn't get you much in terms of set bonuses and no where near the benefits from just 2 acc and 2 dam generic IOs. For example, look at the OPs Gambler's cut power. Sure the set bonuses seem ok, but there is no accuracy/to hit bonuses at all. I would rather just have 2 acc generic IOs so that I could actually hit something.Six-slotting attacks was necessary before IO sets. You can get by with 4-5 slots if you're going for a certain set bonus. The extra slots would be useful with a proc in them.
Do NOT enhance defense debuffs in your attacks. There is a limit to how often you can hit a target and you will easily hit that limit with one unenhanced debuff after you slot your powers better.
Putting 4 slots in each power makes me think this is just a troll build. If it isn't, you need to look at other Willpower builds on these forums and read about what is effective.
In general, recharge and defense set bonuses make the most difference on a character. If your set doesn't end on one of those, you aren't slotting optimally. In the case of Willpower, the defense set bonus should be giving more typed (smashing, lethal, energy or negative) than positional (melee ranged aoe) defense. If you can reach 32.5% S/L and E/N defenses you will be in a good position to stay alive in most end-game content.
Look up attack chains for Katana or figure one out for yourself. In Mids, go to window then powerset comparison. The attacks with the highest damage per animation time are the best ones to use. Recharge is explained on Paragon Wiki. Most attack chains only use 3 attacks and press buttons in a sequence of 1232 repeatedly so you can focus on your situation instead of the powers that recharge.
Now 6 slots of the same melee IO set gives you some good stuff, both total benefits and nice set bonuses. -
If you are farming, get melee sets in jab and punch. There is no reason to cut your damage down if you are farming. Even on teams it is not necessary to have that much taunt. Crushing Impact is good because it has a bonus to recharge rate.

For Inv/SS, take Cardiac. Not only do you get a much needed break in endurance usage, but it boosts your damage resistance.
I chose this for my Inv/SS tank and have never been happier.
Essentially the two best, in my opinion are Cardiac and Spiritual. Spiritual is great for Willpower, which relies on a lot of regen, plus the recharge is nice. -
On beta, I did a Rikti Pylon test with a fully T4 (all 5 slots) Incarnate build. Electric couldn't do enough damage to make a dent. Dark Melee/Regen worked as did Kinetic Melee/Willpower.
None of my tanks could do enough damage and they are all Super Strength.
I long for the day when Scrappers get Super Strength. SS/WP for the win!
For groups go with Kinetic or Fire. -
BaBs is old. It makes sense for him to die, especially if Galaxy City gets demolished as it's where he is as a trainer.

I know I voted for Psi Melee. Not a fan of weapons really, but yeah, give me psi melee.
Psi Melee was pretty high up there. Wasn't it Giant Growth (or was that an armor set), Dual Blades and Psi Melee?
There was an official post talking about the results, but they didn't really say what was beyond the third position. -
Perhaps the term "Aggro Control" is better than Meat shield or Melee Crowd Control.
