  1. For a scrapper, I think that Energy Blade/Shield Defense would make a really wicked combo!

An appropriate question would be, "What do the readers think Behind the Mask should be?"

Because right now, it seems as if our purposes and the reader's expectations aren't lining up.

IMO selecting people who actually contribute to their server Community in a meaningful manner (i.e. being one of the most respected instead of the most hated on their home server) would be more in line with a respectable publication. Chosing those who are known griefers, trolls, flame fest initiators and bottom feeders sets you up to look more like the Enquirer.

There have to be dozens of people on each Server who add to the game in a positive and meaningful way. Those are the kinds of people that deserve notice.

  3. It would be kind of nice if you had replica badges to give away...
  4. Well, since the Slippery Noodle is a bar, I guess I could suggest the Hard Rock Cafe. They have a room in the back that could be reserved/rented out (?). Don't know how much it is, but I could get the details and forward them to you, Ex.

Or maybe Jillian's? Never been in there, but I have been to the one up in Minneapolis. The one here has nine lanes of bowling, something called the "Groove Shack" on the third floor.

Wherever it's at, I'll be there. I'll be right in the middle of buying my first home and moving in, but I missed the chance to hang with Cricket last year and I'm not missing out on the party this year.

    Count me in!
  5. I asked once before but got little reponse that wasn't that helpful, so I thought I'd try again.

I'm looking for some custom-made resin statues, about 8 inches tall. I've tried search after search on Google and come up dry.

Does anyone know where I can go to have some custom statues made? Doesn't matter if they paint them or not, but to just actually have them made.

    Thanks!
  6. Thanks guys, and sorry to everyone for getting slightly off-topic. I just wish that they would allow us to place those types of items even if they won't work.

Let's see some more base pics! I'm busting my one-man SG butt right now to try and upgrade to the next plot, but with only about 400K prestige right now, I've got a ways to go.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
some base items like the wall plaques of weapons, the city of heroes comic covers, etc are veteran reward items that you have to have been around for a certain amount of time to be able to build

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, I know all about the vet rewards. I should have explained myself better.

Stuff I'm talking about is like in your latest pic. Where did you find the statues at? You've got two statues on the sides of the podium.
  8. O.K., another n00b question here...

I'm seeing stuff in other people's bases...decorative stuff, that I don't have available in my options.

    What's going on with that?
  9. Thanks, and by all means, go for it. I did tweak a few things here and there, but overall, it remains the same.

The only thing I'm upset about is not being able to place crafted items since I've got the "start-up" generator. It's like we have to sacrifice decorative rooms for functionality rooms. Certainly, we can decorate the function rooms, but the cost is dramatically more than I can afford.

I spent a few hours just laying out the rooms before I placed any items. I knew that I wanted an extremely large meeting room with a podium and the largest SG tech table I could find. I wish we could do more with wall items, though.
  10. Well, I finally got a SG base up and running. The cost was around 800K or so (I think). It's for a one-man SG. Mostly decorative, but it does have some functionality.

Tell me what you folks think?

    LINK to album page.

  11. Sorry for the double-post, but I'm finding that when I sold back all my SG base to start fresh, I actually had about 100K less prestige than before I had started to build my base.

Do you lose anything when you sell it all back? I rebuilt it almost exactly as I had it before except the layout was different, plus I didn't add a salvage rack. I only put in maybe 20K worth of decorative items; yet I find that I'm short about 80K of what I should have had.

  12. Ah, that makes sense. I tried to place a plasma TV on top of a table and it wouldn't take it.

I'll have to wait until I get off work to do some cosmetic work on my base.

    Thanks!
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I still want to know how to put decorations onto other decorations.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd like to know that myself...

Also, has there been significant changes to the initial guide? If so, do you have plans to update and issue a new guide?

    Thanks.

    "Moral Combat"

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm extremely disappointed that an image of Statesman would be used in such a way. I know that we designed City of Heroes to appeal to "children of all ages." My proudest accomplishment with the game is that many parents (including my brother) play with their children...sharing, I hope, the same joy for the comic book world that I've had ever since I was 8. I cannot express the shock that I felt seeing that a character created by Cryptic would be used in the same sentence as Columbine.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had given up posting on these forums for personal reasons; however, seeing this video and your reply, I felt compelled to respond for whatever my opinion is worth.

Man has always been an animal with a strong instinct for survival. Throughout our history, man has had to evolve, to adapt, to the environment in which we live in order to survive. We have reached an age where no longer we fear other predatory beast on a daily basis, so our "survival instinct" has evolved as well.

We not only fear our own weaknesses, but also the exposure of those weaknesses to other men as well. Rather than to accept the failing responsibility, man actively seeks out an outside influence to prosecute, to hold up to the world to say, "This is to blame!". All too often what we seek out is merely a reflection of our own failings.

These people have all too often sought out the influence as the chief offender rather than the deficiency in the person themselves. It is all too easy to say that we are not responsible for our own actions. This is known as the "scapegoat" effect.

More and more, we have refused to accept the responsibility of our actions. How many times have we seen on the news of a person (innocent, in their mind's eye, I might add) guilty of a social crime talk of how an outside influence controlled their decisions? I would never drive into a school bus full of children but the alcohol made me do it. I would never molest little children had not a family member/religious figure/stranger from my past molested me. I would never kill another person had not I played a first-person shooter video game.

It's a tired arguement, all to accepting by those in society who I hold the most responsible for our shortcomings. Let us rid ourselves of this evil, they say, and our society will be saved. Never mentioning, of course, that a person is capable of their own free will of committing the very acts portrayed in these video games.

I did not appoint these men to be my savior, nor will I permit them to assume that role. They are small, tiny men who lack the capacity for accepting the shortcomings of man in our society. They cannot see beyond their own nose in recognizing the genesis of our dilemma.

Should they claim victory, it is only a matter of time before they seek out another scapegoat to hold up to society and say, "this, this is to blame for our evils".

Until then, well, I've said enough. I have to get back to Paragon City. I've been notified that FrostFire has made bail again and gone back to his old ways.
  15. *steps into a flame-retardant suit*

Well, I'm gonna throw this out there and I'll probably be called all kinds of names, told that I'm talking bunk, and assorted other crap, but I've reached me end.

I've been playing this game for about two years now and my first lvl 50 took about four months. During that time and my subsequent time spent playing other ATs with ranged attacks, I've learned two things.

It is very highly possible to pull a boss from a mob and not have the entire mob aggro'd to you.

It is nearly impossible to try to explain this to anybody else.

Basically, I've learned that it all depends upon a forumla between exactly how much damage could be/is done to the boss on the attack in relation to the proximity of others in the mob. I've never taken the time to crunch some numbers, but I can pretty much look at a mob and tell you whether or not I could pull the boss away.

I believe that the amount of damage that you do or could do on your "snipe" attack has a direct correlation to the aggro radius, meaning the less damage that you do, the smaller the aggro radius circle is around the boss. My blaster (fire/fire) uses Flares, which has minor damage, and it is only slotted with an accuracy enhancement. If a minion is standing right next to the boss, chances are that they'll come running, too, but not the entire mob.

I never claim that I can pull a LT simply because the damage to hit point ratio is higher whereas with a boss, they have more hit points and resistances.

I just got into my third argument in three days over this issue and frankly, I'm getting tired of hearing it and trying to explain my experience.

If I had to guess, I'd say that I've got about an 85% success rate in pulling just only the boss from a mob, if I'm going to pull. If another villain besides the boss comes running, it is rarely even then the entire mob.

Well, I'm going to go eat some Thanksgiving food now, so whether you agree with me or not, it doesn't matter. I know that I can pull a single boss from a mob because I've done it several, several times before and I know that I doubt that I'll be able to change anyone's mind on the matter.
  16. A lot of choices there...I would have said badges (my main has 344 on Freedom); however, there wouldn't be any badges without a storyline.

I tend to write a lot of fiction based upon my heroes and my supergroup in general. I'm a one-man supergroup with 21 different toons in it (yes, I have a lvl 50....three of them, in fact) and their storylines all intertwine with each other and with a lot of the signature heroes, too.

So, without feeling like I'm in a "living comic book", then nothing else matters.

Fair winds and following seas, CJ.

    Resin statues?

A while back, someone posted a link to a person that would, on commission, create a resin statue of your CoH toon.

Does anyone still have this link?

If not, does one know where I can order one or find out the process of making my own?

    Thanks
  21. Remember the days of fly-by sniping?

With Issue #5 (I believe...was around that time frame), they added a negative fly speed component to the game so that if you activated a power, there was a two (or so) second delay before you could fly at normal speed.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
When the Hero Corps. Analyzers first came out, Task Forces were bugged so that their Difficulty slider of the Task Force would change either depending on the first person to enter the mission or to the leader of the team's setting. Now Task Forces auto-set to "Heroic".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry for going a little off-topic, but this is the second biggest complaint that I have about Task Forces to this day.

You try to get a team together and once you finally get the required amount of members, someone on the team will speak up and say that EVERYONE has to lower their difficulty slider to Heroic because of this.

Can't tell you how many times I've had people curse me out and try to get me kicked from the team because I refuse or else they outright quit, even after I patiently explain to them that it had been fixed. However, that still doesn't stop the "experts" from calling me a liar and destroying the team before we even start.

Back on topic, with the release of Issue #7 in which signature heroes and signature villains could be fought and defeated in Recluse's Victory, the regeneration rates made it nearly impossible to defeat them or any other "AV" status NPC without being required to have regeneration debuff (on the CoH side, this meant you had to have a Rad Controller) cast on them. This controversy rocked the CoH/CoV forum boards for weeks as many people testified in the test server thread that it violated the documented belief that "no one single AT should ever be required to complete a mission".

The Issue was not addressed and went live "as-is". The larger portion of the CoH community that doesn't play the test server were certainly surprised, confused, and upset over the change. Many instances occurred where task forces were unable to be completed, resulting in a flood of petitions.

After the outrage, the game developers finally agreed to scale back the regeneration rates of the game's Arch Heroes/Villains from impossible to simply difficult.
  23. The question was asked earlier in this thread; however, it hasn't been addressed yet.

Requirements have been listed to receive an Item of Power but no requirements have been listed as to just participating.

Personally, I don't care about the Item of Power. I would like to be able to participate in new content.

Posi, is it possible to participate in the Cathedral of Pain task force if you do not have a supergroup base set up?

    Thanks
  24. Doesn't look like anyone's mentioned it yet (although it came close), but...

Remember when Hasten could be perma'd? My blaster ruled the day back then...

    ...*sigh*...

Also, Inferno had a shorter recharge time than the other blaster's "nuke" powers and that you could immediately start to regain endurance after you fired it off (so you could hit Consume and keep going)?

Bugs preventing badge earning[LIST][*]Mu Guardians over level 19 do not give villains credit for the gladiator. (It is unknown if this bug exists for Heroes, too, now that they have a Mu Guardian gladiator. It is possible this bug was fixed when the Hero-side gladiator was fixed. A comment from a Dev would be useful here.)

I can confirm as I did a Warburg mish with my lvl 48 tank the other day. Since it was a bug before I7, I didn't get any placeholder when I defeated my first one back when I6 was released. This past weekend, I defeated two in Warburg and still no placeholder appeared.
