Quote:Amen.Hell no. I am fed up with Vanguard Merits. Give us a story arc to unlock it for the account -really, really, really- necessary, but I hate having costume pieces that'd work great for characters locked away till level 35.
If I want to play a futuristic knight type character with the Vanguard Blade and Shield... wait, I never can, because I start playing the character and just go "No, this feels off." And delete it, because it doesn't look as it should and won't until I'm level 35 + amount of merits needed to get both.
Same goes for Roman armour and the defeat enemy unlocks and so on.
I'd like to see VG Merits, Hero Merits, and Reward Merits merged into a single "currency." -
Quote:Ditto. I list everything for galactically stupid prices now (10inf) and quite frequently sell things in the millions. And we're not talking about Rare or Purple items here: common and uncommon recipes and salvage.I can corroborate this - I've been selling a lot of IOs on the market lately, and on average I get around 200K for stuff I list for 100K or even 50K.
Though, in my defense I'm a GHIN! buyer, so I'm likely contributing to the problem. -
Quote:A means of accessing it from your base would be great, but it doesn't work for those folks who aren't in a supergroup.Eh, I'd argue that. The Incarnate mission doesn't really deal with PI, the "Hero's Epic" (which, IMHO, is worse than what it replaced, as it DOES kind of kick you down to second-string status) is really the only thing in PI. 50s run around in the RWZ, they may pop into Atlas to get to RV... The WWs are in the actual hub zones.
Personally, I'd rather see a way to access them from the base, or even get a temp power at some ww-badge-level that lets you access it remotely.
If memory serves, a temporary power like you've described is already available: The consignment house teleporter can be purchased or earned: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Consig...se_Transporter. But it would likely take you all the way back to Talos, and only works once. You can replace it, but can't use it again for 30 minutes. -
Quote:You raise a very valid point, and I couldn't agree more. You can put a crafting station in your base or work to earn the portable crafting bench, but if you don't have a base or the power, you're pretty much sinking a lot of time into travel just to unload your stuff and craft IOs.If anything, they need to put in more universities. Why is it that SC is the only blue side place with a WW and University? It'd just be so much more convenient to add one in talos and AP. It's like having peanut butter without the jelly; ya can't have one without the other.
-
I've wondered for some time now why there's no Wentworths in PI. We spend an awful lot of time there in the upper levels, especially since I19.
When you need to sell, you have to get to a zone that has a WW. That means:- Take the ferry
- Use an O-Portal
- Take a Base Teleporter
- Use the WW teleporter (if you have it)

Quote:Hey! I know that guy! He mocked my tank with his invisibility and untargetability. After years in development, the Malta sprung their latest weapon on me a couple of nights ago: the Stealth Titan.
Sure, its only a prototype and it was eventually destroyed, but its cloaking technology was superb and completely impossible to target through. See for yourself (notice in the beginning single target attacks are not autoselecting it: its not just invisible: its untargetable). Unfortunately, as the video shows, I broke the cloaking device when I destroyed it, so its secrets were unsalvageable.
(I've seen this particular bug maybe half a dozen times on the live servers, but this was the first time I had the presence of mind to record it. It can sometimes happen if a Titan merge is disrupted at just the right instant in time.)
So I shouted to mom, and she brought in her blaster, and blew him to smithereens with AOEs and nukes.
Mission accomplished. -
As Hami is my witness, I will never underestimate the cat-girls again.

Clearly, cats are martial artists. -
It's not much, but here's my before-and-after attempt. New costume based on the idea that these guys are vendors, and the game provides no heroic background for them whatsoever.

Heya Sam,
Given what you said about zones earlier (how you detested islands and whatnot [please pardon the paraphrase]), what if a new version of Paragon had no War Walls but the cool zoning tech from Praetoria?
See, Paragon isn't an island. It's a big, sprawling, massive city. And if you tore down the war walls, you'd be able to see it sprawling as far as the eye could see (or your video card could render). You'd still have to zone, but the city would seem larger, when, in fact, it's the same size it's always been. You'd just be seeing more of it at once.
Just begging a penny fer yer thoughts. -
Can't really say, as I seem to keep getting the same 5 tip missions over and over again.

All a DPS meter would do is create a new class system in COH. Don't want.
Don't have X DPS or higher? Not allowed on teams.
Can't maintain X DPS? Kicked.
Sorry, seen it too many times in other games, and don't want anything to do with it.
As for knowing who's pulling their weight on a team, that shuold be fairly obvious with decent leadership. Furthermore, if you let everyone do their jobs, and you haven't set the difficulty too high, everyone will be pulling their own weight.
Sure, there are leechers. But they're so few and far between as to be laughable. Deal with them on a one-by-one basis and move on. -
Quote:I was tanking a TF that had a fire Blaster on it, and I noticed that enemies in my Tanker Dogpile o' Death were not fleeing from the RoF effect.
Were you cycling targets? In my experience, that's always generated a TON of aggro, and held their attention even through Fire Blaster Aggropocalypse. -
Quote:Twoof.Others have commented but I'll give a little more detail. Rain of Fire (and similar powers such as Ignite, Caltrops, Freezing Rain etc.) causes enemies to be hit with an Avoid debuff. This causes a partial override of their AI so they prioritize getting out of the patch rather than fighting. Depending on the situation this can be good or bad, for a solo Blaster it is an excellent tool but on teams it can result in the group scattering which at the very least decreases the effectiveness of AoE powers (including Rain of Fire) and worst case can cause problems for other team members.
Personally unless the team is having trouble I don't object to a bit of chaos but there are players who do and in that situation you'll have to either refrain from using it or leave and find another team (or make your own) because when it comes down to it their team, their rules.
On the other hand certain other characters can make it so that the impact of the avoid effect is irrelevant and you should feel free to let loose no matter what team you're on. Controllers can lock down a spawn so even though they want to leave they can't. Other area debuffs (particularly from Trick Arrow, Dark Miasma, Storm Summoning and Earth Control) will slow and/or knock down enemies which also prevents them from leaving.
Also, in a bank mish, when the foes get close to the door, lay ROF on the door. Makes them back away from it. -
Plasma Fury (50 Fire/Fire Blaster): "Need End!"
American Argonaut (50 WP/SS Tank): "I admit it: I'm overpowered."
Knockabout Nick (Energy/Energy Blaster): "Sorry about that!"
Sandstorm (Earth/Storm Controller): "Rez please!" -
I'm very excited about it.
I've been around for a long time and still haven't done the STF or a couple of the other major task forces that will drop shards, and all because folks were doing them as speed runs. Now that folks are taking their time, I'm really looking forward to doing them, and enjoying the experience.
Of course, the drops will help.
I only have two fifties (a blaster and a tank). The tank is the main badge toon, and I'm really looking forward to getting him slotted with his Incarnate components, so I have to learn to adjust my play style a bit. (My own stupidity there--I still play a tank like it's my job to herd the map, and you just can't do that with twenty Mastermind pets running around.) The Blaster will probably beat him to the slot--it's fairly easy for him to join a team and just do his job.
I have other toons who are getting to 50 that I am somewhat meh about. I'm not sure how I feel about a semi-deific Dual Pistols blaster. (Thoroughly a role-playing issue.) On the other hand, an earth/storm controller with godlike power will be something to see.
Then, of course, I'm looking forward to building a whole new tank from scratch who can actually have enough endurance to run toggles at lower levels. I'm actually twitterpated about that.
But shards first, new toons later. -
Quote:Sez you.Unskilled players just want the rewards without the thoughtful work and those players should not be Incarnates.
How about we let everyone play according to their own play style, get rewarded according to what they're comfortable with and not judge them unworthy of the rewards they obtain for doing so? -
Oddly, that option is disabled.
EDIT: Never mind, found the problem. You have to right click the character in the right-hand panes, not the big list on the left.
Thanks for the help, WN! -
I'm trying to get my arc to include a named boss. I want him saved for the end of the arc, and so here's what I've done:
- I have two separate custom villain groups. One group is called "The Tempted", and the other is "Tempted Bosses."
- The named boss is in the "Tempted Bosses" group. He has a unique look and name.
- In the missions, I have set the enemy group to "The Tempted."
- I put a Defeat Boss mission objective in the last mission, and set the enemy to Amron the Damned from the "Tempted Bosses" group.
Any advice?
Thanks! -
Quote:You know that, I know that, lots of forum-goers know that, but lots of new players don't know that. So it would add useful functionality.I can completely agree with the usefulness of being able to unload the "vendor trash" at the market, but without the ability to do that I don't see any need to show what a vendor will pay there.
I already know that at a vendor common salvage goes for 250, uncommon goes for 1000, rares go for 5000, set IO recipes go for level * 1000 for uncommons and 2000 for rares, and common IO recipes above level 20 are worth more than at the market - just showing the price a vendor would pay doesn't add any functionality. -
Quote:Not quite the same. Dillinger didn't run around in tights and pain pads. I'd hazard a guess that the average citizen on the streets couldn't have pointed him out in a line-up. But that's just a purely hypothetical situation. If he'd been wearing the kinds of outfits we wear in the game, that would have been a different story. Was Dillinger in disguise when he went to the theatre the night he was gunned down by the police? He wasn't. He made no effort to conceal his identity. He rightfully assumed that no ordinary citizen would get involved because they were afraid of his reputation.
The woman that actually notified the cops he was at the movies was another criminal. She ran a brothel and was undergoing deportation from immigration. She cut a deal with the feds to turn him in so she could stay in the country.
Villains have more to fear from their own associates than they do the average citizen. -
Every time you needed to run to the department of Motor Vehicles, or the bank, or get to the emergency room, a city-wide event would occur that made it absolutely impossible for you to get anything practical accomplished.
-
Doubtful.
More desirable: 2xp weekend. (More for the inf & prestige than xp, tho.) -
Personally, I would *love* to see both weather and seasonal changes, but not at the expense of a revamp of the older zones and new missions. Weather would be a "new shiny" whose high sheen would probably dull pretty quickly, but I think it's fantastic for immersion. But that's my personal opinion.
What would be cool is if we had some sort of freakish weather event where the zone was entirely covered in low-lying clouds, with lots of lightening, thunderous booms and whatnot. And, descending from those clouds are massive, monstrous tentacles just like Lusca's, which attempt to snatch people off the street to consume them. Your mission? Beat the creatures back into submission.
If you design the creatures the right way, you could have several of them scattered across the zone, so everyone's not congested in one place (reducing assault & battery on our framerates). The tentacles should reach the ground (to get to their victims), but you should be able to make out massive mouths and bodies in the cloud cover. As an optional task, award a badge for leading an assault on the body and defeating the creature overhead, but as an alternative, simply take out its tentacles to make it flee.
That's just my idea. -
