    I wanted to cry

Of course. There are simple but legitimate questions that aren't adequately explained by the game itself or ones that the answer to is not nearly impossible to not stumble upon by accident over the course of normal gameplay. "How does ED work" is one of them. "How do I get out of Pocket D" is not one of them.

There's a poster that's been fairly prolific on starting threads this morning that's asking a lot of the latter kind of question...

    I wanted to cry

    [ QUOTE ]
What makes me cry is people being so jaded that they can't answer questions for people who don't sit at a computer playing a game for as long as they do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What makes me cry is people who get all snarky because someone who who don't hand lazy n00bs answers to the most simple questions on a silver platter rather than expecting them to put forth the minimal effort required to learn to play the game themselves. It doesn't require "sitting at a computer playing a game" all day. It requires some basic problem-solving skills. VERY basic. In a lot of cases, the game gives you answers to questions like these in tutorials and such, but lazy n00bs can't be bothered to read.

If it's jaded to expect people to use the brain in their heads for more than just padding between their ears, then I'm jaded as hell and proud of it.

I trust you told him how to get out of Pocket D.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, because it's so hard to figure out what those "exit to <zone>" markers on the map are.... I don't see helping willful ignorance. If someone isn't willing to do the minimal work needed to figure out the basics of the game themselves, I say let them flounder...
  4. [ QUOTE ]
There's no reason you can't travel out of your starting zone. Just take the Yellow Line tram. Go into the main entrance to the tram (not the exit-only on the right), and click on the tram doors when they are open. Then, select the other zone you want to go to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, you're supposed to be able to click on them at any time...though, for some reason, for me, when they're open is when I -CAN'T- click on them...
  5. Shouldn't take 20 minutes. But, there's a decent chance that a crash could cause one or more game files to become corrupted, which means the game won't function properly. The scan is to check for this and repair if needed. It's actually not uncommon for MMOs.

...You know, I've read the OP's two posts in this thread over a couple times. He's never once said that he was asking this for an MA mission. Other posters just assumed, he never confirmed or denied...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think we all assumed it because of his first post:

I have a decent story thought up making synapse change sides so it wouldnt just be like a spoof

    [/ QUOTE ]

First thing that came to mind for me was a background for a character. RPer.

Well, in all honesty, other forums that allow them have had problems with too much clutter from them. And people posting inappropriate images. Think of it as a preemptive strike against that sort of thing.

[/ QUOTE ]Images can be fine, so long as there are rules limiting their size/frequency that get enforced.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thing is, enforcing the rules gets to be problematic. It's much easier to just disable images all together than have to deal with someone posting, say, sick fetish porn images because they think it's funny during the off-hours so it'll take longer for the image to get modsmacked.
  9. Cannon, canon, whatever. Lore character.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
It should be OK, as long as you dont try to pass yourself off as a NCSoft representative

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. Though, while it may not be specifically against the rules, I do think it's extremely cheesy to play a cannon character.

also had trouble with contacting people, when i chat with someone, it didn't came up in my chat window somehow. anyway, i am gonna use up my trial period and then i make a descision if i gonna keep playing the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are restrictions to trial accounts that were put in place because of gold farmer companies.

If someone could link them, My searches are a little buggy at the moment.

You can only talk in certain channels.
You can only carry 50,000 inf
You can only go as high as level 13.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And to preempt a potential complaint, note that WoW has very similar restrictions on their trial accounts...
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    hi guys,

now i tried city of heroes and i must say i'm not excited about it. the gameplay is not what i expected and the combat system is slow and not really impressive.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Slow?! And you're comparing it to WoW?!

What'd you do, roll up a controller and only use brawl?

I mean, you're entitled to your opinion, but this line just boggles me. Yes, I've played WoW and rather enjoy it until the community starts making me want to kick something...

( And that "Sorry to say that to the people that love it" bit? Could you be more blatant on your trolling? )
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Just a quick poll to see others opinion of these issues in the game. Over 4 1/2 yrs played and the bugs that continue are starting to "bug" me a lil... heh. Thanks

    http://snappoll.com/poll/296903.php

BTW, to see "this" poll, and vote, you'll need to scroll down the bottom of the page. Thanks

    [/ QUOTE ]

Two things. First off, what good do you think this is going to accomplish? Second, they do fix bugs AND put out new content. It's not an either/or thing. It'd help if you'd be more specific on what bugs you are talking about, too.

Bottom line is that there will always be bugs. Stopping all content until the game is bug free means there will never be new content ever again.

The forums have first-strike capabilities? Dang. That's pretty cool.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh yeah. It's that new Shock and Awe add-on...
  16. Now you're just being intentionally obtuse... Which isn't very (a)cute.

This game is VERY different from the "must-have must-do" style of WoW.

    ......

The game starts being fun at level 1, (or actually, before, in the character creator) and continues being fun for as long as you're not bored to tears by it.

You don't HAVE to have every cool drop, though there are some nice things in the game to get.

    ...........

you don't have to have a "perfect team" to do anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You know, I always felt that these attitudes were created more by the players. I've run many dungeons in WoW without a "perfect team", for example, and pulled it off just fine.

Yes, I logged in. The servers were nothing but that on both sides. The forums were nothing but that. Defensive stances are easy. It's like tempting me to feed you ammo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, anecdotal evidence. Because we all know that's SO valid...

    [/ QUOTE ]

See? Ammo. 'I beg you to prove it. I have a massive argument ready and waiting.' If it wasn't the majority, it wouldn't have been an issue, and they would have changed nothing, not to mention everything already noted from the vast evidence of behavior.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I love these types of argumentative people. Too smug and too stuck on "obvious clues" to realize facts or bother supporting their claims with hard evidence.

Please continue. I have 4 hours before I'm gone for the next 4 days and I need a laugh.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Same for me. Thankfully he mentioned zero evidence of the opposite so the irony is thick.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Burden of proof is on you. You made the claim. Prove it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Here's your proof: The majority of the playerbase didn't jump to 50 overnight on multiple characters.

Uhh, I don't know where you got this nonsense from, but yeah, it would've been a problem and they would've changed it. An exploit is still a problem even if only one player is doing it.

I'm guessing he wasn't understanding what Hasten does correctly.

I can tell you one thing: this idea that the majority of the playerbase was against the fast xp farms is a complete fabrication.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really? And your proof is...where? I realize the other side hasn't provided proof either, but that doesn't make it okay to not provide proof yourself.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
I can see that. I view it as kind of the same thing as if you want to buy a new CD player for your car, you need to buy a whole new car.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I'd see it as more akin to requiring a whole new car in order to use a new form of fuel.

Sorry, the "selling my time spent getting it" is BS. Time is not a marketable commodity. It is a unit of measurement.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Tell that to everyone who gets paid by the hour. Time = $, even in this crappy economy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We've been over that in this thread already. The employer isn't buying your time, they're buying the services you perform during that time. Even if the service is simply being present and available.
