The proper response to "It sucks" is not "until you have a successful game, your opinion is invalid".

Is there some sort of handbook on what is and isn't proper to say? Perhaps your own personal etiquette Wiki page that I should reference and revere before posting anything? Or is that a matter of opinion?
  2. This is kind of a thread jack but I figured it was close enough to avoid starting a new one... Does anybody know if Stimulant from the medicine pool is getting made into an aoe with the issue 20.5 updates to currently single ally buffs?

I play all AT's except Tanks. However, I'll never enjoy any AT as much as I do Blasters. I think this is because I learned the game with a Blaster. My 1st and oldest toon is a Blaster. Made for a rough learning curve but was very rewarding afterwards. Sadly, it proved to be limiting in my future enjoyment of melee AT's. With Blasters I have to think on my feet and use tactics and skill to survive. I have to know when to attack and when to hold back. I have to use LoS and KB to leverage the battle. In short I have to be active, very active on Blasters. Well almost, keeping an 8 man invincible team alive on my Empath around level 14 proved to be very satisfying.

When I try to play a scrapper... It gets boring really really quickly. To the point of me drifting to sleep in missions sometimes. The repetitive click click click recycle of attacks without fear of my life keeping me alert means I just can't get that into any AT with defense. I need to be kept on my toes at all times. I need to feel that at any moment the tide could turn and sweep me under if I lose focus. I just don't get that rush of adrenaline from any AT other than Blasters.

Because that's how I learned the game.
So how did you learn the game? Was it on a support toon? If so, there's your answer.
I feel pretty much the same way as you about playing scrappers/melee in general. My first ever character was an energy/kin corruptor-- He was all I played until level 43 when I decided I wanted to try something different. Next up was a fire/fire scrapper, who was my first level 50. After about a week of him being 50 I made a Warshade and never looked back.

Now my warshade is my go-to character for everything... He has high survivability, sure, but it's not a "turn on toggles and forget" play style... You have to be extremely active and on your toes all the time.. Knowing when to be in what form, keeping your damage up by constantly shifting for mires, always making sure that perma hasten isn't dropping (if it does while you're in a form it won't activate until you drop to human, even if it's on auto.)

Lately I've been trying to branch out and find another AT/set that I enjoy just as much... I haven't played either of my first two toons in at least two months- Now they're just additional market slots. I' have been playing my fire/MM blaster quite a bit and I definitely get the rush you speak of. He's only level 35 right now, but I'm hoping to get a lot of mileage out of him.

Do you think Arcanaville doesn't have a deep and solid understanding of this game's mechanics, having never received a paycheck from NCSoft?

For that matter, getting that paycheck, and thus being a "professional", does not necessarily mean you know what you're doing either. As I recall, Castle is on-record has having admitted that Arcanaville understood certain things better than he did - the "amateur" teaching the "professional".

It's not like I would say that to anyone who had an issue with the incarnate system, my tone was matching the tone of the post I replied to.. Here's some examples:

I was pretty harsh because I was responding to a pretty harsh sentiment. There have been a lot of productively voiced and logical suggestions given that the Devs have acknowledged already, but it's really annoying when people still harp on and on about how it sucks so horribly and they word it in the most crude way possible.

The other issue is that the ONLY place you can get what you need is the trials and they effectively made the system they already HAVE obsolete and should you want to convert the old system to the new system... well THAT will cost you influence.. I have also been pretty vocal about the outrageous costs of crafting as well which is fine for the farmers and people who have a ton of influence but stops those that do not from participating or turns them into farmers so they can keep up.

That COULD have used some of the very same system in place ALREADY.. level 50 TF's as well as the trials.. they COULD have made something like a shorter DR Q.. you know like when they shortened Positron ?? They COULD have given me a reason to GO to the Shadow Shard..

There is PLENTY of things they could have done to give OPTIONS rather than just TWO TF;s over and over and over and over and over and over and over..

And BTW I have been playing this game since two month after it was released.. I have easily put over 1500 into this game.. so I have the right to complain if I dont like something... and in all honesty I am hoping they hear me loud and clear.. not because I am gonna quit and take my ball and go home.. but because I believe have been a LOYAL and PAYING customer and my opinion does matter..

However if they dont know what people dont like.. they might not make the correct changes..

You know how many times I have seen people complain over something and that very thing gets fixed eventually in this game? A LOT.. and there is still more yet that needs to be done..

In fact just recently myself and a few others complained about how the last batch of sever transfers were poorly handled and how the community was poorly notified.... and you know what happened.. a SECOND batch of WELL ADVERTIZED transfers was made available...

So If you dont like my complaints.. or my statements.. feel free to put me on ignore.. or stop reading my posts... but I will keep going right on ahead and discussing and giving my feedback...

A lot of that would be all well and good if the Devs said, "Ok. Here's 2 trials. That's the incarnate system." That's not the case, though... They are already testing another trial and they have acknowledged several times the fact that people want more options and they intend to deliver on that but it just takes time. If the official standpoint was "this is all you get, take it or leave it" I would be right there with you, but I don't see the sense in having an outcry on something that has already been addressed and is in the process of being handled. You have every right to complain, sure, but I don't see the sense in complaining about the same exact thing over and over when there's already a solution on the horizon. It just comes down to patience.

This is the exact same argument we saw with badges necessary for certain accolades being placed in PvP zones: "Oh but you don't HAVE TO HAVE those!" Akshully.... I do have to have 'em.

And we're all being nickeled and dimed. This forum has some of the most diehard apologists I have ever seen. If word came out that NCSoft mailed vials containing pure Ebola virus to every subscribers house, we'd have people out here defending that decision until the last death-rattle caused em to drop dead from their computer-chairs.

It's definitely your prerogative to buy all the packs you want but you aren't being nickeled and dimed one bit. I can't think of any other game that has more options in its' character creation tool than COH, and that's without any packs included. I understand that lots of people want additional stuff and I think it's great that the option is available to get it, but it's not like you have to pay 5 dollars per travel power or something... I guess ninja run is kind of an exception, but again it's not something you need to fully enjoy the game-- Same goes for costumes.

They've obviously done a pretty good job of that considering the number of 7 year vets that have all the costume packs.

But make no mistake, nothing we've ever received was free.

I for one really appreciate the fact that they seem to be hard at work developing the incarnate system. As for the packs, nobody has to buy them. If you don't feel they're worth the price, don't pay it... Simple. You aren't being nickel-and-dimed. All you have to do to access the game and enjoy free content updates is pay your flat rate subscription.

There has NEVER been anything "free." Ever.

Really? I'm pretty sure I pay 15 dollars a month EVERY month, whether there's new content released or not. If I buy booster packs, I get booster packs for it. I don't get "an incarnate trial with every costume part."

But getting him there won't be fun. I know it won't be fun. I've already done it on one character and it was fun for a bit but stopped being so. I can't bring myself to do it. I've been playing lowbies instead.

The only t4 my warshade has is clarion, the rest are all t3's... But man, that status protection is nice.

Dont grind it ???!!!!! You have another way to get it?? A magic wand perhaps ??? I mean really.. its a grind no matter HOW you slice it.. the system BLOWS period.. There are many in game and on the forums who do not like the system.. they preferred what we had already.. not having to grind out more xp which is used THEN grind your way into just unlocking the friggin slot.. oh yeah and if you dont want the prior slot but want the latter one.. can you CHOOSE.... NOPE just shut up and grind out the xp for both...

THEN go grind out some influence so you can convert, downgrade and sidegrade and make crap.. for 100 million or 400 million ????!!!!!!!!!

Dont have or want to spend the influence.. WELL just do the same things over and over and over and over and get CRAPPY results which more than often yield crap you DONT want or need...

OR grind a little leess and get 8-30 emp merits...

Here's an idea... If you don't like the system, don't participate in it. If you dislike the incarnate progression so much and you have a better idea on how to do it, go make your own game with a better mechanic. Comments like this really bother me, people seem to forget that not only are we getting FREE content upgrades, but it's a new system that is still being developed. Do you expect the Dev team to snap their fingers and create 30 trials and a huge variety of solo incarnate arcs on a silver platter overnight? In case you haven't noticed, we just got 4 new incarnate abilities in the last update, and two brand new trials. In the next update, that isn't even a new issue, we'll be getting another new trial. If you're going to complain about something, pick something reasonable that's actually a faulty mechanic like the rewards tables.

If someone genuinely needs help, all they have to do is ask a question. Heck, even if it's in broadcast and especially in a team chat or in the help channel. I've never had anyone approach and offer to help me with something because of my name title. Need help? Ask for it.
  10. Yeah I got a response saying what you guys said and it ended up working, I got the recipe back- emailing something else and making room did the trick.... Thanks for the help everyone. I was afraid it was going to be a "can't prove that you lost it, we can't do anything" situation.
  11. I had my first ever Respec recipe drop on a new alt yesterday. I emailed it to my global with no issues. When I went to claim it on my main, his recipe inventory was full which I did not realize.

I hit claim on the email attachment and got the "inventory full" prompt. However, the recipe disappeared from the email attachment also! I made room in my recipe inventory after, closed and reopened both that and my email, and nothing. It has completely disappeared.

I just sent in a petition in game explaining what happened, but I'm not sure if they will be able to fix something like this... Has anything similar happened to anyone else?
  12. I disagree with this. I like to set my characters to "Help Me!" just so they show up purple.
  13. Positron said in one of the U Stream casts a while ago that he's aware a solo/small team progression method is something the player base wants. and he said it was something potentially on the horizon. They're also going to keep adding more trials, it only feels like a grind right now because it's a new system being introduced and all the content hasn't been developed yet. I think it's understandable that these things take time and I'm sure the dev team is working as fast as they can to give us more options... My only gripe (and it's a big one) is the algorithm used for the rewards system.
  14. When I first made my warshade he was all I played for like 2 months.
  15. I never understood hoarding inspirations, they're dirt cheap. You can get the big ones on the market for like a million inf I think or with AE tickets.
  16. At least nobody has told me it sucks yet.

  19. LOL at blaming the officials considering the HUGE goal differential throughout the entire series (barring the first two games in montreal)

It would be one thing if a single goal determined the outcome of the series and it was surrounded by a series of bad calls... But let's get real here.
  20. My newest blaster, ice/elec, is made of unjustified courage and surprisingly good luck.
  21. Dechs, why don't you take shadow cloak, 2 invisibility powers (or one and combat jumping,) maneuvers, (then tactics) and vengeance for lotg mules? I feel like vengeance is a mule that actually has a pretty awesome use.
  22. /bind KEY "powexecname power name$$cc #"

would that work? just put the costume slot number after the #, replace power name with the name of the power and replace KEY with whatever key or combination you want to use for the bind
  23. Oh weird.. I was thinking it'd just be a matter of taking all the info that the game already stores and recoding it for the web.
  24. I watched my friend solo a bunch of GM's on his rad/elec defender, and another friend on his ice/rad corruptor .. Are you just trying to come up with a way to make it easier to take them down solo without playing a debuffing set, or thinking it's not currently possible?
  25. Was thinking it'd be cool to have a browser option to view our costumes, badges, personal info, builds, and set bonuses in an official format linked to the actual game that always remained updated. This would be convenient to look up what badges are needed for certain accolades, copying current builds into Mid's for adjusting if we don't have them saved, or just showing off costumes/bios/etc to friends.

I would even be willing to pay a one time fee per character since bandwidth obviously isn't free. Dunno, just figured I'd throw the thought out there.
