Keep "Helper/HelpMe" titles, but ditch name colors

Pet peeve of mine: I don't like it that Helper players have yellow names and HelpMe players have purple names. I'm used to seeing blue heroes and red villains, and I liked it that way -- gives a sense of solidarity rather than class distinctions, as the yellow screams "I'm all that" and the purple screams "n00b". I don't really know what good the name colors do anyway...is there a buddy system going on that I'm not seeing? Most of the help I've seen comes over the Help channel. Do Helpers really seek out HelpMes and ping them with "may I help you" like overzealous waiters trying to refill your almost-full glass with water? Do HelpMes really crowd around the Helpers and emote to their knees in gratitude at having found a wizened sage who might bequeath knowledge upon them? Let me be clear -- I don't mind the system itself, but I can really do without the garish yellow and purple name colors, and would prefer that the Helper or HelpMe title by itself be indicator enough. (If you actually get mileage out of the yellow & purple names, I'd be curious to hear about it. I haven't marked myself as either.)

Boy you are gonna hate the new Vet Reward because it lets players customize the color of their names.

I saw this and figured I'd toss in a link to this thread, discussing this subject (sort of).

I suggest that they remove the name colors with these tags as well, not due to the reasons you provided, but just because people are using the tags just for the colors... which pretty much defeats the purpose of the tags.

And, Forbin, that's interesting. I had suggested they just implement custom colors for people's names, since they seem to want it... Kind of disappointing that they'd lock it behind seven years... if that's what they're doing.

I can't find the thread that showed it, I didn't subscribe to it, but there were screen shots and the people that had access to it were the ones that had earned the newest vet reward badge.

Likewise, I don't like the player *name* changing colors for the reason stated: You know who is friend, foe, and teammate with the regular color scheme.

Just make the "HelpMe/Helper" title be colored (and the titles colored with the Vet Reward) but leave the name colors be, please.

Wait we can tell our friends from our enemies by the color of their names? Here I've been using /bind target_enemy_near all these years.

to clarify the vet reward is in game (by that i mean live) already i believe, and its not your name its your title that you can add at the trainer

I disagree with this. I like to set my characters to "Help Me!" just so they show up purple.

For this reason alone the devs should write a script that checks an accounts vet badges and if their account has been active for 3 or even 6 months they can't use the "Help Me!" title.

This will help keep the players who genuinely want to help new players from getting disgusted with running into jacktards that are abusing the Help Me title because they want a pretty colored name, and giving up on helping new players altogether.

They should just have an option to either display "classic" colored names or the new multi-color scheme.

Let me turn it off if I want to have standardized color names in my GUI.

I wouldn't have a problem with that. It's no ones business what colors you see on your monitor.

If someone genuinely needs help, all they have to do is ask a question. Heck, even if it's in broadcast and especially in a team chat or in the help channel. I've never had anyone approach and offer to help me with something because of my name title. Need help? Ask for it.

Fixed - there's a lot of vets that have been away for a while, so they might still need help with new or old forgotten stuff.

Yeah that's a good point that I forgot to consider. I have no objection to that.
