Quote:Like Fulcrum Shift? Or Speed Boost? Or any buff/debuff that's been in the game since day one?I will be in no way surprised if it causes standard level-based rewards to be reduced. Think about it. Why would they give us the same reward for defeating stuff that's now explicitly easier to defeat?
See, I view Level Shift working on the same principle: It's a buff that elevates your comparative to-hit/damage values without inherently raising your actual level. In that light, it's a buff. Since we get similar effects from ally buffs/debuffs without XP/INF loss, I'm of the viewpoint that this would fall under the same category. -
Quote:I think I've gotten six actual Purp drops since purple recipes were conceived. Your luck hurts me in my heart. ;(It's most likely just an illusion due to the random number generator being nice to me, but after a span of 3 months or so where I got ONE purple drop, I got 4 in the space of 2 Carnie missions. (I ran one mission and got two, got none for a few more missions, and got 2 more in another mission)

Quote:See, that's the reason why I felt the newer badges were useful: It opened the zones to exploration and activity to people who'd just avoid the Shard or the sewers, for instance, for lack of anything to do.But it does raise the question of "When is there enough?" I'm of the believe that putting map badges in the sewers and shadow shard and boosting the hazard zones to 8 map badges was simply for the sake of adding badges just to add badges. Granted that exploring around the shard was kind of cool to see, the only reason for people to do it is that they are collectors or need 5 merits to help get an IO or something.
What I'd like to see to further exploit this is more established exploration options for a place like the Shard. We did it with Faultline, we can do it with the Shard. Expand the Portal Corp/military bases, make the vendors more sensible rather than the token ones we dropped in there, add more Incarnate TF/trial options, perhaps finally make it a hero/villain neutral combat zone, like how it works in Praetoria...all of these things add to the invitation to players to actually go to the Shard with a desire to play and explore, rather than view it as a transit zone that's best seen as a blur.
So, at least with the Shard and the Sewers, I felt like those explore badges actually DO accomplish something.Enforced tourism isn't a bad thing if it's not hard to do.

Quote:I'll be the first to admit I want to stand out and look amazing at a community event, but after the lag at the last Ship Raid, I would happily discard all the glitz and glam to avoid said lag. I think we should all drop auras, wings, pretty colors, animated tails etc for the sake of the experience as a community. Preferably, we should all wear speedos and bikinis. This is a double dog dare as well as a darn good suggestion.

Sorry, read the subject off the main server list, that's what came to mind. -
Quote:Yeah; I read the Dev's opinion on nukes for the COP trial as more of a balancing pass than an exploit fix. It's not an exploit to use something the Devs gave you in a creative and very effective fashion.I agree that most of the time the Devs never mention "fixes" to things they consider exploits. But strangely enough they seemed to break their own rule about that when they mentioned the nuke nerf for the CoP Trial. Go figure.
Basically this means that the Devs "may or may not" nerf nukes for the Tin Mage TF and they "may or may not" tell us about it either way. *shrugs*
I don't think they'll take action on this. Using nukes for one AV in the middle of the TF to make that one fight easier is like the Soviet Union making the Tsar Bomba just for kicks. Sure, they can do it, and sure, it works, but it's not something you can do repeatedly in order to expedite the overall win (for the duration of the TF, not for capitalizing on World War III). -
<-- The dying guy. The only one too, in fact, until we finished and E-Man gave up a pity death. XD
Great run, everyone. Sorry for the death. I think I got about half of what Luna got for the shard drops... -
Quote:It'll probably go a year or so of paid, then switch to F2P once the playerbase realizes the game still had another six months of development and tweaking before release and start abandoning it in droves. The console market will make it more jumpy too, but...I just read that other mmos become free after a while when do you think this one will.
Oh, wait, you meant COH, not the OTHER other game.
Almost seven years of paid access. I don't think that's gonna change anytime soon. We're the Everest of superhero games. MMOs come and go, but our mountain remains stubbornly in place. I don't think I'd want a F2P game anyway. I like a fixed payment plan, and getting stuff thrown in for free regularly.

Okay, I'll add to this. Nice thread. Happy New Year.

I still don't think those attendance badges should be made available retroactively either. The point of them was to show attendance for a particular event. Making them available after the fact kinda kicks the point in the nads a bit.

Quote:Keep your ear to the ground on the Freedom globals for these, and check for runs scheduled/organized by the Freedom Horde. It's a great way to get wide-scale support for regular runs w/o being part of a particular SG/VG. Cheers, and see you on the field.I'm at 1147 badges on my Emp Psi Defender. I still need to do most of the Strike Forces (tree specs, ice mistral etc etc), several Ouro badges, RV Heroes and Mo Lady Grey, Kahn and Cuda. If any of you plan on running any of those on Freedom, give me a holler! I'd be glad to help.

And a terrific time was had on E's team.
Just under an hour all told. Thanks for setting this up!

I did mine at St. Martial. I liked it better than Shark for when I did it cuz I worked it up during the Halloween zombocalypse. That corner of St. Martial gets a lot less traffic than the Sharkhead base.

A MM in the reactor should be interesting.
I'm attending, of course.

Dammit if I ain't gonna finish my "Ghost" series. This needs to happen before any more life events crop up this year.
-
Kinda the same. I was wrapping up for bed and hopped on around this time, but everyone on my global was in the Hive or in RWZ for some holiday events. Wish I knew this was happening, I'd have gladly punk'd Posi for some nuclear New Year smokes.

Quote:No, my angle is pertinent to my distaste with the badge, and not something you can argue around. I HATE that, in order to make progress on a badge, you have to NOT be logged in. No other badge rewards you for being logged out of a toon like that. It's a design breaker. Even the "farmable" badges have a natural path in the progression of the game to achieve them.I didn't say (or care) whether or not I thought Day Job badges made "sense" or not. I was simply trying to drive home the point that because which badger gets done with Day Jobs a week or two before someone else won't matter 6 months from now I've never let them dictate how or when I played my characters. You've got to take the reeeaaaallly long view with this.
Whether I stay logged out for 21 days to get it before you do, or if I take six months lolly gagging around saying it doesn't matter, the fact that you get rewarded for being logged out is dumber than a sack of hammers.
So yeah, I agree with the OP. -

*toasts* A bit drunk, but a lot happy. Happy New Year, everyone. Off t'bed fer me now. XD
