Freedom TFs channel...capacity reached?

So I have been a part of this channel for some time, I run/join TFs almost daily and is the main reason I play this game. Was working on a new toon the other day and noticed my chat window was unusually quiet. So, I made sure to edit the chat tab to add Freedom TFs and a few other global channels. And.. Freedom TFs isn't on the list.

So apparently I got booted from that (and just "Freedom" channel), tried to rejoin, and it's full. Not really sure where to go to find out how/why I was booted, how I get back in, etc.

Anyone that can help me out here? Much appreciated.

Best,
MT

It doesn't necessarily mean you were booted. There is something in the code that automatically removes you from a global channel if you delete a chat tab that has a global channel in it, if it's the only tab you have that channel in. It seems many people do it by accident without realizing it all the time, especially on new toons. As long as the channel is not private or full, logging into another toon that had the channel on a chat tab should re-add you again.

A good workaround to prevent this has been to click on one of the "1 2 3 4" on the chat window to open an extra window and create a new tab. Place ALL your global channels in this tab and keep the window closed at all times. Make sure you /chatsave afterward and then do a /chatload onto all your toons at some point so they will all have it.

If you actually were kicked, then I'm sorry. I don't really have any information about that. Hopefully somebody can get you back in somehow either way. Good Luck!

Ahhh okay, that explains a lot more then. I probably did in fact do this by accident. Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. Had no idea I could effectively boot myself.

That said, I hope someone that can help me get back in sees this post because if not I really don't see myself playing this game much longer if I can't.

If the channels are full, that means those people wanted to be there. To accommodate you, someone would have to step out of the channel to make a hole for you. (Or, have a mod boot someone at random, which is really kinda a jerk move.) That's the only "help" you can hope for, realistically.

Or.. is the chantimeout command actually working yet? I saw in the patch notes that it was supposed to be working now, but I haven't seen anybody actually confirm it. If it works, that would be a way a mod could get rid of some inactive people and free up space.

This looks to have been released in i18 actually. However I have no idea if Freedom TFs uses it.

What constitutes an inactive user? Does someone have to chat in the channel to be considered active, or do they just have to login with a account/toon who is in the channel?

Just wondering, thanks.

Actually, it was released with i17, but it never seemed to work. The i18 patch notes mentioned it "is working correctly now", but seeing how it was supposed to be working before too, you never know if it's really true or not. Like I said, nobody has reported using it or confirming that it really is working. There have even been posts in the Tech forum asking about it.

It doesn't matter if they already use it or not. My intention was to bring it up so that a mod could turn it on and possibly allow room for you to re-join... if the command is even really working at this point.

It was my understanding that participation in a channel is not necessary to be considered active. Simply logging in a character that has the channel in a tab should be enough. You might not even need to have the channel in a tab. The original announcement just says "users that have not logged in".

The chantimeout command is working. I used it on the Freedom Badge channel, and successfully cleared out any account that had not been active in the last year.

Maybe the moderators of other channels don't know about it or simply aren't using it, but it is an option now.
