Sadly, this was already tried over a year ago and proven not to help.
The horrendous power lag during Rikti mothership raids began with the launch of Issue 16. I thought that it could have something to do with power customization, so I asked everyone that attended one of my raids a few weeks after Issue 16 launched to wear costumes with no capes, no auras, and no customized powers. The lag was still horrid. I talked with Back Alley Brawler shortly afterwards, and he confirmed that the power lag has absolutely nothing to do with peoples' costumes, auras, nor customized powers.
The only thing that has proven to help with the power lag during Rikti mothership raids is if people don't use pets. No Phantom Army, no Shivans, no Snow Beasts, no Vanguard HVAS, no Masterminds. But I'm not about to ask people to not bring Illusion Controllers and Masterminds.

I'll always be a "Champion" at heart. My server away from home.

CL? Did BAB say anything about the big honchos working on the problem? I won't go again with my pets. I'll bring a blaster or scrapper next time.
No, unfortunately Back Alley Brawler did not indicate that he nor anyone else was working on the problem, just that it was not related to costumes nor power customization. Now that he is no longer employed by Paragon Studios, I'm not sure if anyone will. A server hardware upgrade may solve the problem, but honestly I'm not sure if NCSoft would be willing to spend that kind of money on a game nearing seven years old.
Feel free to bring whatever you would like to the Rikti mothership raids, as long as the toon is at least level 35. I wasn't saying not to bring Masterminds or Arachnos Spiders or what have you. In fact, I specifically indicated that I would not do such a thing. I was merely informing that the absence of pets is the only known way to bring the power lag down some.

I think everyone should buy science or w/e booster pack and make all their toons 4 foot tall like mine are.
I can't imagine smaller toons being more laggy than fatter toons.
>_>
Well it could be worth a try to say the lease. Hami-kini's are fun and I've never done a MS kini raid.
And no, Amy, that means you HAVE to wear clothes, you streaker, you.
lawlz....
i remember back in the day "they" required your 4th costume slot to be a "Hami" costume slot.....
still.... for large scale events, if peeps can strip down to bare minimums, including darkening power colors, it'll help out visually over-all (not necessarily the lag). But at least you'll be able to tell what the hell's going on around you instead of all these stacked bright powers and auras around you....

Aren't there different kinds of lag too?

Things like costumes & power customization can affect client side lag, so it is still helpful to some people with lower-end computers if you take consideration with your costume/powers.

But I do have to say Dead slacker going from a short Fort, to an ex large hero, can be distracting to some of the players.

I'll be the first to admit I want to stand out and look amazing at a community event, but after the lag at the last Ship Raid, I would happily discard all the glitz and glam to avoid said lag. I think we should all drop auras, wings, pretty colors, animated tails etc for the sake of the experience as a community. Preferably, we should all wear speedos and bikinis. This is a double dog dare as well as a darn good suggestion.

Sorry, read the subject off the main server list, that's what came to mind.
