It means I shouldn't make a forum post while remoting into two boxes at work setting them up as late-notice new hires. :P

My VERY first character in closed beta 2004 was "MadHat Turgenev", MA/SR scrapper who bored me to tears when I saw what blasters could do at a distance for what I tried to do up close. He lasted only through the last days of beta... When the game went live for headstart, I whipped up Cerulean Skie, my electric/energy blaster that I still have to this day.
Call me sentimental, call me a lech, I keep her cuz she's my first, and damn, I built her HAWT.

Go to St. Martial at night. VEGAS, BABY! MAN, I wish they'd do more with in-game gambling there, I'd never leave the zone...

Quote:Hm. I ID'd a mechanic as an Illusion controller where, in PVP situations, pets will not aggro at all on a target standing right in front of them (1v1, no other targets to take aggro away), or in rarer cases end up attacking the caster, even if you con blue to them. This was in 2008 though; I know it was on Castle's radar for fixing, but I never heard anything definitive on this. I haven't PVP'd since Issue 13, so I don't know if the same mechanic is in place. I think I have the steps to reproduce documented somewhere...What happened here? Does spectral terror cast some sort of AoE terrorize that perhaps affected the other Longbow because his Warden master was dead? That seems more likely than "Deflected" actually meaning the effect bounced of me and hit the mobs. As hot at as that would be, I've not seen that happen before.
Your behavior sounds similar to what I saw. It's also similar to cases where the effect lingers after the caster has died or zoned, and it suddenly goes red if it was blue to you efore. -
E: I'm a maybe leaning to yes with this one as I have a houseguest coming tomorrow, but she may pass out by the go time. If I run it, it'll be with Dr. Turgenev this time (illusion/storm controller).

Quote:All of the above is generally true. There IS an RP underground here though, but it's one you have to look for. Most players here give the "lol Virtue is over there -------->" if someone {{starts talking like this}}. At least you don't need to worry about Pocket D effete poseurs who try to explain to you in a three paragraph minimum why you're utterly inferior to their well thought out characterization of the perfect hero.Freedom and Virtue are neck in neck in terms of population. It's usually x2 or x3 compared to other servers.
If you like drama and RP, head on over to Virtue.
(( If this sort of chat bothers you, stick with Freedom ))
I don't like PvP, but I know about 10 or so PvPers who regularly do arena matches. RV and Siren's seemed pretty active last time I popped my head in there.
Instead, D's where the arena matches all are. Be warned, have a thick skin, and feel free to get messy in the Arena. -
Welcome to Freedom, Mr. N. We have a good home here - not everyone's cup of tea, but if it is, it's the only drink that'll satisfy you.
Take a look at the global channels sticky in this thread (poorly named by me, and I've asked 3 moderators to fix the damn name, but each one I've asked gets fired in the end... hey...) to keep your ear to the ground for where people're talking and forming. There's lotsa activity always going around, just keep your ears open, and don't be afraid to start up a team if there's a stack of players standing around Posi in Steel Canyon, all LFT.
See you in the game. Holler if you need anything! -
*looks at the thread subject* Gaddammit, fatfingered "Uncompromising"...
*Fixes for this post, maybe no one'll notice...* -

Seems to me that the "other travel" suggestions really build off the originating four, though. I'd agree that having a skinning option for your travel power might be the better way to go, a la power customization. Other people above have given examples of how to do it, and honestly it'd be a way of getting the same "effect" without throwing in new travel powers that would demand a six month moratorium on combat balance.
...personally, I'd settle for a Fly that didn't have those annoying little puffs of air coming from your hands and feet, even when holding still. -
Some players (including me) have had our anniversary date for veteran rewards pushed up slightly month by month. Before they went in and jigsawed a fix last year, I'd moved from the 26th all the way to around the 6th. Other players have had a similar drift in the other direction. I don't recall if there was ever a reason for the anniversary drift for the account.
They've taken to releasing the badge a few days (I think four-five?) before the actual "go" date. I usually see it around the 22nd or so, if the badge is available in-game. Because of where the dates fall next week, they might drop it in (if it's not live already) on the 25th. -
Just checked. Not up yet, but I'll holler in the Badges forum if no one has before me.
And agreed, these are two very nice powers to throw the seven year vets. Hopefully the /auction cmd will come with a built-in emote. -

Quote:Actually, the top one on B-H right now (Piyerus, Virtue server) has all 3 hero respec badges, and one villain respec badge. So, it's a glitch, but I expect people will start just using it to buff their counts 'til the Devs fix it. (Not saying that's what Piyerus did, but I'm guessing the intent will be a trend.)I've been trolling the Badgehunter website looking at all the badges people have and I was wondering. When we first were able to change alignments I went from blue to red and did the 3rd treespec and got a badge for it because i never did the 3rd respec blueside. I tried doing the 1st and 2nd treespecs but no badge. I was told at the time that you couldn't get more than 3 badges total for respec, blue red or a mix of the two. Now I've come across 2 people with more than 3 respec badges. Is this a badgehunter glitch or can we get all 6 now? Cause almost all of the top badge hunters still only have 3.

Quote:The problem is that, while you say you see that, you represent one voice of opinion amongst a group of people who'll say the exact opposite: That badges like Anniversary awards, Vet Awards, etc., are all "unfair" and "biased towards the older playerbase". Therefore, they should be done away with, in a sense of "fairness" to everyone. It's a slippery slope problem. Do it for one, and that gives other naysayers impetus to call to have it done for all.No, veteran badges are different. Yes, they are based on real time, I know that. But the thing is, as long as the game doesn't die, I am guaranteed to get those veteran badges eventually, as long as I stay subscribed. Does it take forever? Sure, but I still have the opportunity to earn those badges.
Which defeats the whole purpose to the badge themes, IMO. I think Anniversary badges should remain a regular feature in the game, and that they should be ONLY picked up during that month (or, if someone asks me, to be expanded to a 2 or 3 month window around the anniversary date). Vet awards should get cooler as you get along without being gamebreaking. Day Jobs should be remo--- er, hrm.

Quote:Welcome to the 750 Club. The Secret Handshake(tm) must be learned by the initiate watching various members of the 750 or higher clubs converse and interact throughout your initiation period.went on a exploration badge romp on my spines scrapper , Dragonberry and im now sitting at 892 badges so yayyyy I finally made it into the club...Do I get a jacket or a ring and who pm's me the secret handshake ?
...which, based on the general tone in the Badges forum, would lead you to believe that middle fingers were an integral part of the Shake. -
Quote:Same argument can be made for the Vet badges.Either change the badge to something else like a special title, or just make it purchasable. Being penalized as a badge-collector because I didn't "BUY THE GAME RIGHT NAO" when it came out is totally unfair.
It's not a penalization if you weren't there to earn the badge. It's part of the badging game. Sometimes, you miss it.
Sorry, but I'd vote to remove those candy cane awarded badges too. I DO think that badges meant for a login at a given time should remain that way, instead of being bought later on. -
Ah, got the last DJ and accolade, finally. Sentinel didn't pick it up though, so I'll re-poll tomorrow when I get home. Now 1197, w00t.
