So, what really hits me about COH going away?
Thinking about my main, Dr. Turgenev, and realizing that, as a Paragon City superhero, he'll never have another adventure. He'll merely "end". No glorious death, no vindication of his existence, no tangible residue of his in-game attitude, impact and achievements, beyond my memory of him.
Dr. Turgenev was me - the man I strive to be. Seeing him on death row, beyond no fault of his own, is a slam on my own aspirations to be better, to be heroic, to lead when needed, to support when wanted. To be good, and to do good. While these challenges are woven into everyone's lives, Dr. Turgenev gave it a singular narrative that appealed to me.
I have a story to write before the end, of my last conversation with him. I hope to share it here, or perhaps on one of the social media sites. -
Quote:I'm sad that Ivan Turgenov will never get the Bug Hunter badge.Quote:That makes you sad because you'll have to listen to Turg complain about it for the next 10 yearsQuote:I'm not! I love showing it off in his face. Twice. http://i.imgur.com/Cug8H.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zQ2by.jpg
(And he loves pointing that I don't have Celebrant even though I should.)
Imma gonna git you all. -
Kinda short notice, granted, but I only got my travel dates last week. Doing my best to keep up.

Convenient to the City of London area, at/near the Montcalm at the Brewery hotel?
Feel the force of history descending upon our beloved Paragon City?
Care to toast heartily to the world, its developers, and its players?
Yeah?
Me too.
I'll be in London for a few days on a work trip, but I should be free in the evenings. I've got a thread in the EuroLounge where I'd like to consolidate all chatter on a "come join Turg for a pint"-fest for October 2nd-3rd.

I'd very much like to meet you Brits (hear me, TsumijuZero?) and toast to 8.5 years' worth of good memories.
Hope to hear from you.Cheers!

So, I have a sudden trip to London next week. I have a few days in the City of London at the Montcalm at the Brewery, London City. Availability in the evenings only, it's a working trip for me.
Anyone fancy a pint or two? Sing songs to the memory of a Cit- nay, a WORLD of Heroes?
If you're interested, I'll be watching this thread this week. I don't expect anything, just wanted to take an opportunity to meet the EuroHeroes before the world went dark.
Chime in here if you like, I'll hotlink a few other posts to this one to consolidate.
Cheers!

And now, with all humor and well wishes... Z's post made me think of this piccie.
Much love, Andy! -
Quote:Z:My time has finally come.
This will be my final official communication as a member of Paragon Studios and a representative of NCsoft. I've made the decision to spend some time focusing on family and the job hunt, mostly family. While I love what I do, it often times results in long hours (especially in the weeks leading up to the announcement) and I feel like it's important that I spend some additional time with the wife and kiddos before I jump into my next great adventure.
I've got all of the squishy, touchy, feely stuff out of the way on the other thread, but I just want to reiterate how much being a part of this Community has meant to me. You guys and gals are amazing, inside and out. Much like the team here at Paragon, I have, and hope to someday again, walk through fire with all of you.
This isn't goodbye. I'm staying in gaming. I love building amazing online Communities around games and don't see myself doing anything aside from this. The social experience is why I play online games, and this is where my passion lies.
So until next time...
I'm grateful to have known you, and look forward to crossing paths with you, again and more, in the fullness of time.
Thank you, thank you. Rest at ease. The community lives. And you will always be welcome.

I'm willing to assist on this. I'll see if I can't rope in a few more for you.
-
I'm a bit late in the game here, but if this is still a need, I can bring my main to Triumph to assist. Dr. Turgenev, illusion/storm, +3 with all top shelf Incarnate powers. Let me know what you need, and if possible, please PM me with a reminder on when this is being scheduled. Thanks.

Quote:As an aside, I love the fact that I'm Leo's go-to guy for stopping the end of all the worlds."Hey, Doctor Leo."
"What's up? Why the long face?"
"Well, you see, I have some rather bad news. You know how Rularuu devours entire dimensions? Something like that is going to happen to Paragon City in November 30th."
"Crap! Okay, I've punched aspects of Rularuu in the face before, just let me get a team ready and we'll get right on it. TURG!"
I'll add my own take on this as I get time this week. Nice thread, OP. -
Dr. Turgenev
1398 badges, legitimate.
1406 badges, cheating.
This is before going to beta and getting the badges there, but I'm curiously not wanting to do that.
Even if I cheated to get the above.

Woot! Got Bug Hunter! -
I petitioned with "I deserve Bug Hunter. Please award." A day later, a GM turned it down. I has a sad.
-
I'll give screenies if y'all don't believe, but seriously, at this point, why would I lie?
Dr. Turgenev.
Illusion/Controller, Freedom server. Rolled up around May 2004.
9089 hours on patrol.
Gone on patrol 3452 times.
And still counting. -
Quote:*hi5z BP*I'm serious. Sure there were some folks who frustrated me, but I had way more fun than not. Maybe I was really lucky. But whatever the reason, Freedom (the server) was and is a great place to hang out. Which doesn't mean that other servers weren't great, either. I play around on most of the servers.
Each server had its own unique flavor, and great players who always gave me a reason to log in.
So spill it. Did you and I ever team?
I hope the rednames keep reading for at least a few weeks. I've got something to say, but I'm trying to find the words. -
Since you asked:
I'm established in The Secret World (slow going, hard doing MMOs these days with a new baby) and am eagerly beta'ing Planetside 2 (IRON will paint the sands of Ishundar red with the blood of the Vanu once more).
However, I've elected to set both games aside completely, to run in COH until the skies go dark.
If you wish to find me, Facebook is a great thing (look up "Ivan Turgenev" in Washington, DC).
Cheers, all. If you find another home where we all can go, rope me in. -
There are just no words.
Except this.
I will set aside The Secret World (which I really dig), and play COH until they close shop.
Nonstop.
**** the ignore list. I'm unblocking everyone. Let's party like an big *** asteroid named NCSOFT is about to slam into our Earth, and Statesman just cracked open the whiskey and Viagra.
See you in the game.
Wear your best pasties. -
Quote:You were banned from all channels for leaving us. Shame, woman. Shaaaaaame.yay! i missed you all
i have no chat channels anymore, so you all have to tell me where im supposed to be chatting for stuffs!
(I shouldn't talk, I took a summer off from capes.)
Welcome back! -
Did this crew ever roll out over the weekend? If it's going for another run, I should be around more this coming week and can help out where needed. (Ping me on FB to wake me up though.
)

Truth.
I've known Lucas off and on for most of my gaming time here, mostly from the forums. Creepy avatar, but a sharp wit.
My condolences to his family and friends, and fellow Justice players. May the memory of him echo long and crisp in all of ours. -
Well, given what happened the last time I visited your panels, that should give you quite a bit of quality time with MiniTurg. XD
-
Quote:Despite Traegus' crotchety-old-man comments, I think we'd love to have mini-Turg at the next get-together. And speaking of which, when are we doing one of those again?Quote:and yes, another get together soon would be awesome.... i owe Turg
(Despite how well he flies in the FB video.) -
Quote:True, but I should clarify; I referred to "one piece onesie" in relation to a cape effect. The ones that had a separate velcro'd cape were very limited; this onesie had the cape on the back as a graphic (same as the Batman one that will be modeled soonQuestion: If it's a 'onesie', isn't it, by definition, one piece?
).
But yeah, it's definitely repetitive to say that, huh? -
...and I'll just say it's REALLY hard getting a one-piece onesie with the Statesman crest made, so we went for the easier route with a certain Son of Krypton.
Been a while since I've had a chance to game like I used to, but I figure a video would be my way of sayin' "be back soon"! Enjoy an update for MiniTurg, six months after his last missive to Paragon City!

Quote:Heya Chris, and welcome to Freedom.I just moved a couple of heroes to the server.
I'm amazed at how quickly the public channels (Arena, Help, LFG) move, and it's such a great sight to see after believing the game was completely dead (from an Infinity server standpoint).
But as I am predominately based on another server, I need a good Global channel to monitor when not on Freedom.
I was directed, via the Freedom Help channel, to FreedomTF... After a day of monitoring, I don't think this could be the most active global channel...
I'm interested in it all, TFs, Trials, badges, mission teams, whatever. Could someone direct me to the most active, public Freedom channel? or multiples, if needed? I have enough space available, I believe.
Thanks.
You might want to move this into a new post on the Freedom board for more attention. There are quite a few unadvertised channels that are very busy, but a lot of the public channels have supplanted that role these days (and arguably for the better/worse, depending on your opinion of the topicality).
I'll see if I can't suggest better public chan options later, I can't think of any on the top of my head right now (most of my chans are private). Cheers!
