Quote:I failed my first ATF on a PuG, but that had more to do with that 2 people on the team weren't alpha boosted yet and people not listening to the teamleader but just running around like headless chickens. It's been a non-issue from my experience since launch day of Issue 19. Haven't had a failed TF with either of the new ones yet, pickup group or otherwise.
Can't remember the time before that I failed a TF/SF, and haven't failed one of the new ones since either. And I practicly always run PuGs. -
Quote:I died 3 times on my last 4 completed ATFs (granted, on the first one I died more often). On a squishy. Just pay attention and don't chain attacks. You got plenty of time to finish whatever animation you were in and move to the side a bit.You take a glancing blow from a AoE, not full damage but then sword comes by and finishes you off, you die. You take damage or use an attack, SS or SJ is suppressed for a bit, you take some damage. Granted yes, you should keep moving. But you honestly believe that someone isn't going to take damage?
Constructive, non-one line thoughts please? -
Quote:I found the Director 11 encounter really fun the one time I did it. And it was a horrible chaotic mess, with people dying all over the place.I'm with Snowglobe on this one in spirit. After attemtping to get the final badge for MOTinMage a couple of times now, it's clear that the only thing we need to do is get around five doms and just hold the heck out of him at the door. This then begs to ask why am I making a team for a TF that requires "x" to finish.
Didn't we toss that idea out the window when Jack or whoever made stalkers and dominators unneeded in the LRSF? They fixed their way of thinking and all archetypes were able to help equally (as one would THINK every archetype SHOULD be in a MMO!) in the STF. We seemed to have taken a step backwards with Tin mage.
Though I'm sure six or seven of the high end vets will denounce my ideas and proclaim that this is the best change ever, or at least the direction he rest of the game should go. Or the time honored "Well don't do it then!"
to which I answer you "Who are you to tell me how to play? o.@"
anyway, thats my two cents.
-C.A.
That was before I knew you weren't allowed to trigger a single bomb in order to get the Mo badge though. I'm still not seeing how that can be done in a non-cheesy way. They were all over he place. -
My brother had the same thing. No open missions, but he got the "you're too busy" line from Ramiel.
Turns out he had 12 open story arcs (books next to contacts). At my advice he completed one (Serpent Drummer), and whatdoyouknow Ramiel suddenly had time for him!
Now I know people keep claiming that it has nothing to do with arcs, and that Ramiel is bugged and stuff, but double check it anyway please. -

Quote:Yes, I'm deeply upset. You can see the tears forming in my eyes. And how long between cov and preatoria??? And preatoria only goes to 20ish.
To me, preatoria has been the only real content added since cov. Everything else has been small scale. IMO. So how long til preatoria goes to 50?
Yes, this is my opinion. Sorry if it upsets you! Lol
If that's the completely unrealistic way you look at things, then you should prepare to be dissapointed and stay dissapointed. -
Quote:You can already set it easy. You also have a huge stack of temp powers and inspirations that can aid you.K, I'm back.....
I know it is hard to get people to unanimously agree about anything in a forum, but I don't see the big deal in the difficulty settings actually doing as it implies? Many have said this new stuff is easy and many have said it is hard. No one is wrong, cause everyones experiences differ. Some like a huge challenge and others want it to be a bit simpler....to each their own. Why can't the difficulty be set to fairly easy or to seriously tough? Then everyone is happy? I personally like a challenge and am willing to keep at something for awhile to finish it....at least until I have had enough, then I may like to lower the difficulty and move on. -

Quote:All right, then we don't have a problemAgain, that's every REWARD, not every TASK. Certain tasks are simply designed in such a way that they really couldn't be soloable even if you let AVs scale down. The Hydra Trial comes to mind - you can't break the generators fast enough to give you enough shield-down time on the head if you're working alone. I don't believe Romulus would be doable even as an EB, simply because you'd be fighting four EBs at once, and pretty cheap EBs, to boot.
Not all tasks can be soloable even if the developer chose to apply solo rules to them. That's just how it goes. However, all rewards need to be soloable in SOME way that can be described as more efficient than hunting down that one Infected that spawned in the train station in Recluse's Victory once in a blue moon. That's all I'm sayin' and, so far, that's what they've been doing.
*edit*
I just hope we get Incarnate story arcs in addition to the TFs. I'd hate to think that Incarnates aren't strong enough to do anything meaningful on their own.
People are soloing ITFs (so with Romu as an AV) more than you'd think though. With the AV's scaled back to EBs I could do it myself, quite simply.
And as much as I like some effort with my content I'm not a min/maxer (almost as boring as farming) in the slightest. -
Quote:The only way that idea could possibly work is if they reduced the drop rate a hell of a lot more than it is now. Consider the numer of shards dropping on a regular TF. All the shards, not just the ones you're getting. And now consider that for all those shards everyone would've gotten one. I did a LGTF where the total shards for the team numbered well over 50.And Bad Influence, your "idea" that when a shard drops everyone gets one, would just reward the door sitters even more than the random number generator already does. Seriously, if everyone got a shard when one dropped, the guy who has done nothing but stand at the doorway to the mission, would get 10-12 in one mission without taking a single step. How fair is THAT?
It would destroy drops solo players completely. -
Quote:TF's may be lost on you, but I'd say that they rather firmly fall into the 'real content', as you so nicely put it, category.I have no issue with the incarnate stuff, haven't tried it yet tho. Like alot of others, I prefer leveling toons, rather than playing my 50's.
Personally, I'd rather see them concentrate on more content, like extending Preatoria all the way to lvl 50, or some other new "regular" content. I go at my own pace and afk alot, so tf content is mostly lost on me personally. Sadly tho, I see the next while being dedicated to incarnate development, rather than new content....too bad, IMO. The direction the game seems to be going is more focused on effects and powers and reskinning, which I feel is a shame, sorry to say. I doubt we will see alot more real content in Coh.
There are 2 new story arcs, and a bunch of tip missions. And you could consider Ramiels arc regular content as well, since there is nothing preventing you from playing it.
I don't see how you can say that there wont be any 'real content' anymore based on what we have seen past year. There's been nothing but 'real content'. -
This map really fails for not mentioning the greatness that is Savatage under US Power Metal by the way.

Quote:I feel that this forum post is a huge slap in the face and an insult to skilled players. The accuracy nerf to purple drops are costing too much endurance in AE, which has completely wrecked PvP. Furthermore, now that no one plays tankers anymore because brutes can go to blue side, flippers have made it impossible to buy any recipes useful to stalkers, who can't go on TFs because they have too much single target damage. Unfortunately, because AE babies don't know how to access the new content without a server merge, CoH is doomed to buy Going Rogue, and badgers are spamming Atlas Park with questions about how to get to the ferry. The new Ultra Mode graphics are preventing people with Storm Summoning from getting on teams which is a problem because knockback is the best mitigation other than intangibility, unless you are fighting enemies with redraw.
p.s.: Also, the forums have no sense of humor. -
They are. I brought two SO (or white lvl 35 IO) only characters through ramiels arc. Did the ATF with one. Only died once.

Quote:She comes back once you defeat three of the warrior ambushes. That's as long or as quick as you want it to be
2.) The final mission/fight with Battle Maiden was fun/thrilling. You can tell when the 'blue burn patches of death' are coming so they are relatively easy to navigate around. However, what I didn't like was when BM retreats....she's gone for, what seems to be, a good 10-15 minutes. I was getting bored waiting around for her to come back. -
Quote:I soloed it on a dark/dark corruptor and died once because I wanted to take the lot on all at the same time (went fine till I ran out of breakfrees and got stunned and pounded into the ground by the HonoreeOn my AR Blaster, I found it to be quite difficult. I had to ask a friend to help me with Trapdoor. I soloed Honoree/Holz but died 3-4 times and only managed it but summoning a snowman and two warwolves.
.
When I came back I pulled the EB's one by one, then took out the portals. I only needed 8 purples and a few blues for that.
If I had felt like whipping out my last Shiv or HVAS I could've taken them all at once.
The corr's built as team support, so her dps is awefull, and I don't have a soft capped or massive recharge build, nor a single purple or pvp enhancement.
My brute just charged in and had a grand old time, intentionally leaving the portals alive, untill I noticed that they had spawned as AV's instead of EB's. Oops. Then I had to call in a friend, so I would do enough damage to finish the mission anytime soon.
I haven't done it with my fire/pain or ice/kin corrs yet, but since they both do a lot more damage than my dark/dark I can't see them having much problems.
My other characters were done on teams with friends and SG mates.
Is it fun? Yes. Can it be challenging? Yes. Is it overly hard? No. -
Quote:I said you could talk all around you wanted. Doesn't change anything.Yes, forums. Do remember me, please.
Some tasks, yes. Some REWARDS, no. "MMO" as a term gets thrown around willy-nilly, but all that means is a large, persistent world that we all share. The term does not inherently assume that we have to interact with each other, and the decision to FORCE interaction is development prerogative. The decision to EXCLUDE solo play is just the same.
I have no problem with TFs and SFs as a general concept, unless they wholly and exclusively gate certain rewards. Right now, I can get everything I could possibly want from the Market, even if it's normally restricted to team-only content. Can't run Hamidon raids? That's OK, I can still buy Hamidon enhancements off the Market. Shards are this mechanic for the Incarnate system, and you'd THINK that solo-friendly, until you remember that it takes a fairly serious arc to unlock this.
The Mender Ramiel arc is not a side TF that you can do or skip and which only provides a better, faster route to most rewards. It is the quintessential lock behind which THE ENTIRE INCARNATE SYSTEM resides. This arc will be attempted by absolutely everybody, of that you can be certain, and not everyone will be able to walk right over it. This will reflect in the numbers and the datamining, just as it always has.
The TFs themselves are unlikely to be made any easier. Those are, after all, the challenges for which the Incarnate system is designed, so difficulty is their point. The Ramiel Arc is NOT one of those TFs.
Also Ramiel isn't hard and perfectly soloable. -
Quote:Your argument falls flat at the bolded part. I don't care how you talk around it but this IS a MMO. A game designed to be played with multiple people. Making teaming mandatory for some tasks is not something that should be shunned. Please, developers, hear my cries and make the new TFs and Mender Ramiel's Arcs much easier. I understand you don't want to alienate your hardcore players, but for once please do not relegate me to getting help for the good stuff. Make just a few of the really cool things available to me without having to meta-game, power-build and get a team. I realise you can already get Incarnate Shards while solo, and I applaud you for that, but please make the unlock more solo-friendly, too.
Yeah, that was easier to compose than I thought. -

Quote:Let's just start with saying that I don't care (much) about rewards. I don't care if soloers earn everything at twice the pace teams do. Really. Heck I have a number of characters specificly for soloing myself, one even reached lvl 42 recently! Yey.Everything storywise, sure, I can buy that. Everything mechanics wise... Why not? Why must certain rewards have a "You must team with other people" component appended to them when some of us are perfectly fine earning team-centric rewards solo at a very reduced rate? Why do you require that I don't have something in particular?
I do like team interactions. Difficult tasks were you need to do things as a team to complete it. Things you simply can't do solo. Things this game has way to few of imo. Hamidon, CoP, MR (only because you can't kill the pylons fast enough solo) are the only things I can think of really. Even the new Apex TF (which I like a lot) can, in theory, be done by single character if he's powerfull enough.
What I have a problem with is that if everything needs to be soloable, it all needs to be simplified and dumbed down so that one character can manage it. -
Quote:If you look at bands like Helloween and Blind Guardian it's prety obvious to see the transition from speed metal to power metal imo.I can't really get behind this. I mean, see above with regard to subgenres of music. But if it has lead breaks, it's not punk. Especially the examples the site gives for Black Metal are IMO clearly in a metal tradition, not in a punk one.
Gah, the more I look at it, the more I find wrong. Power Metal from Speed Metal? Death Metal from Thrash? Is Folk Metal even on this map, cause I haven't been able to find it. It's cute, and I'm sure it was a whole lot of work... but... yeah. -
1) I like the new warehouse skin a lot.
2) I never noticed any problems with lag on indoor maps, new or old.
3) I really dislike that the new warehouse skin also replaces the old abandoned ones. -
Quote:Still, how are we supposed to know that? Most people who come on the internet with questions don't know the first thing about anything but are very sure they're right anyway, especially when they aren't.I didn't get annoyed until the strings dump from Process Explorer was put in question. If I were faced with that, I would not think "that person's computer has some malware that is specifically targeting COH's executable". That's a stretch. I would look for those strings in my copy of the program (we all have COH) and see that they in fact are there.
The very first thing I did when I first saw this window was to md5sum my COH executable and compare it with the executable in 2 other computers to ensure it hadn't been tampered with. If I thought my computer was infected by anything, I wouldn't even waste time running a full antivirus scan: I'd boot up Ubuntu, use it to back up my personal folders, and reinstall Windows from scratch. I don't trust "cleaning" a computer that's been compromised, I go for the nuclear option to ensure safety.
Quote:I am extremely direct in my way of communication. If that makes me a jerk, then apparently I know a lot about it. Let me quote you a book:
In other words: cultural thing. You'll consider every last argentine a jerk. We don't tiptoe around with words. I am actually a lot more careful with words in this forum than I ever am in real life, and I still manage to offend people from time to time.
You're not direct, you're just overly agressive when it wasn't called for and yes you act like a total jerk in this situation.
I'm Dutch, we're direct too. Cultural thing. -
Quote:'Derived from' is bit much maybe, but there's plenty of 'old school' black metal that has very obvious punk influences both in the music and attitude. And I'm not just referring to the crappy recording quality.I That said, if I really wanted to get down to basics, I'd have to disagree with a lot of this. Black Metal derives from hardcore punk? Srsly?
Edit: (and no my forum handle does not refer to the 'True Metal' genre, you just mentioned. I only made that connection myself later. It's the name of my main brute (who was made of metal), but who since has changed concept, so the name isn't really apropriate for him anymore either. I keep it because it's my global and people know me by that name.)

Quote:See the thing is, by the time RoF actually has the time to scatter the whole mob most of it should be dead already. And even if they are running they are still feeling effects like taunt and stuff. I have never, ever been on a team, no matter how small or large, were the the fear effect in RoF was any sort of problem.Others have commented but I'll give a little more detail. Rain of Fire (and similar powers such as Ignite, Caltrops, Freezing Rain etc.) causes enemies to be hit with an Avoid debuff. This causes a partial override of their AI so they prioritize getting out of the patch rather than fighting. Depending on the situation this can be good or bad, for a solo Blaster it is an excellent tool but on teams it can result in the group scattering which at the very least decreases the effectiveness of AoE powers (including Rain of Fire) and worst case can cause problems for other team members.
Personally unless the team is having trouble I don't object to a bit of chaos but there are players who do and in that situation you'll have to either refrain from using it or leave and find another team (or make your own) because when it comes down to it their team, their rules.
On the other hand certain other characters can make it so that the impact of the avoid effect is irrelevant and you should feel free to let loose no matter what team you're on. Controllers can lock down a spawn so even though they want to leave they can't. Other area debuffs (particularly from Trick Arrow, Dark Miasma, Storm Summoning and Earth Control) will slow and/or knock down enemies which also prevents them from leaving.
The complaints about poorly used Knock back I can understand, but this is just ridiculous.
