That's because neither Portal nor Amnesia are FPS (First Person SHOOTER, that last bit is the imporant one here).
I haven't played Mirror's Edge, but from what I've heard from it it's an action game, again not a shooter.

I am well known on Freedom and people are usually coming in droves when I try to set up a SF especially one that has badges. I was so infuriated that I ragequit the game and didn't even try to come back until about the time that the servers came back up. The WTF is an utter failure as far as I'm concerned.
I'm sorry but I can't do anything but laugh out loud at this (No, seriously, my boss looked at me funny.)

You ragequit because people didn't want to team with you?

There is a Redname quote somewhere, or maybe it was in one of the interviews, where it says that they did exactly that when designing the Incarnate TFs.

I don't care that it's necessary in order to get the rarer incarnate boosts. I don't care that it was badly tested, and a zone-crashing bug got loose into the live game. I can overlook those poor decisions.

What I can't accept is how ill-conceived it was to tell the entire playerbase to do the same task force over and over again.

Last night on Virtue, Independence Port had tremendous lag and appeared to be about to crash at least twice that I saw. Getting onto Stateman's ship was a slideshow. Telling your players to gather in the same zone every single day was a bad decision.

But even that's minor compared to the mind-numbing tedium of doing the same task force several times, on one character or with several. And once you've completed it on one character, that character is too powerful to find challenge in any other content in the game -- not that you can play any other high-level content, because most everyone else is grinding away at the WST.

Issue 19 came with new, challenging task forces that reinvigorated the high level game. Issue 19.5 is a step backwards, instructing the playerbase to re-consume old content for even less reward. The WST is a recipe for boredom, and it will only be played for as long as people can stand doing repetitive tasks. Every player will have their limit; I hit mine in one day.

I just wanted to give the devs my opinion. They made a misstep with this design. Be sure that, in Issue 20, you give us something interesting to do. Please.
People gathering in the same zone after a new release is hardly a new phenomenon... During the first week of Issue 19, practicly everyone lived in Ouroborous and the the RWZ.

If it's boring to do more than once, then don't do it more than once... I don't get how people keep making a point out of this. I have 7 50's myself, not a huge number, but 2 of them still aren't incarnates and only 3 characters have done the Incarnate TFs. (I ran them both 3 times on my badger to get all the badges though.)

If content gets to easy with the level shift, increase your difficulty. That's what it's for.

Personally I haven't had the time to do a TF this week, I'll probably get around to it tonight, if not, then I'm going to have to wait for next week's WST. It's not a race you know?

I have read the patch notes. More than once. But for some reason the only colour I can remember ten minutes later is the purple 'is leading a team' one. The colours aren't all that intuitive to me. And I'm usually good with this sort of colour coded stuff.

Also, team leaders only show up purple if they're not in a mission. Which kinda defeats the point, since most people will be on a mission most of the time. (At least as far as I can tell. As I said the proper workings of the colours isn't all that clear to me.)

Also, can there be a difference in colour between 'solo and in a mission', and 'on a team and in a mission'? The first group might like to join my team if I ask them, the second group will only get annoyed when I ask them.

I ought to look this up (but don't feel like it, correct me if I'm wrong), but I believe the Eye of Horus is the name of the ship which caused the oil spill. Probably the same one you found, as I don't know of more than one spill. (Again, correct me if I'm wrong.)
Look at that oil spill from the air.

I can think of no better punishment for the annoyance this causes the rest of the playerbase, than that.
You know, if posters like you wouldn't jump on anything GG says none of the 'problems' you are perceiving would actually exist.

Be careful with this though. If Romu doesn't have LoS with a Nictus when he dies and tries to rez, the Nictus doesn't get consumed by the rez. I have seen teams struggle that had only the healer nictus left, and couldn't field the dps to kill it.

The range on the heal isn't very large. Romu at the top of the steps (where he spawns) and the nictus at the bottom of the steps is distance enough.

Edit: I should read the entire thread first before making redundant posts.

There are only 5 missions in total for the 2 new TFs, but they're packed with enough enemies and spearate mission objectives to give about an hour of playtime for each TF.
I commend the devs for their insight in this matter. ATF and ITF are my two favourite TFs in game.

I laughed so hard at this. The funny is overwhelming.

Alt 1 2 3 4. That's usually the extent of the keys I hit at the start of every mob on my dark/dark corruptor. After that most of it is usually dead, maybe I can still get a dmg attack or 2 off on a boss. Often I don't even get that far.

4 1 2 3 1. That's what my SS brute does, for the most part. Repeat once or twice per mob, depending on the teams kill speed.

    alt 1 1 3 4 2. Blaster.

All forced to commit the exact same keystrokes every few seconds without though process just so they can fulfill the core function of their chosen powersets. And for their powersets it actually holds true. As opposed to the buff sets that have a slew of other powers that fullfill other functions.

This is how it worked for the previous loyalty badge.
  14. That's some nice stuff.

I have to say that I'm personally not a big fan of 'limited time only' ingame items in games (preorder goodies fall under that too. I did like how that was handled for GR).

But since this type of stuff is rather entrenched in the games business nowadyas and doesn't seem to be going anywhere (probably because it works) and because I wasn't planning on cancelling my account any time soon, this post is as far as my protest is going to go.

    This is just me.
I'm not against unlockable stuff like some here, but the sheer amount of vanguard merits required to unlock the complete costume always miffed me a bit. And it got worse over time with the addition of the weapons and costume change emote.

From a story viewpoint I always found it a bit strange that you first had to save the world and raid half a dozen motherships before the Vanguard considered you cool enough to wear their complete uniform ...

At least now I can put my merits into the more useful temp powers.

Invisibility only works as long as you don't attack things. Also Rikti drones (your sleep/stun/high end TFs comments made me think 'Lady Grey TF'!) see through invisibility.

I'm not really getting what exactly it is that you want. You're kinda sending out mixed signals here. You level to slow, but still outlevel everything? How does that work?

Then don't solo. Problem solved ...
No, seriously. Even on a medium sized team you reach level 20 in 3-4 gaming sesions (2-3 hours at a time I'd say). I don't see how that is slow?

This set sits great on your head and the sound quality is ok, but between me and my brother we went through 5 of these things in a period of 8 months. Everytime one side would stop produceing sound. And we're not the types to be careless with our equipment.
  19. The only 'quitter' that I've encountered recently was on an ITF I was leading. He quit when I asked him nicely to please stay with the team and not run off by himself completing all the objectives. He then got pissed that I didn't say while recruiting that it wasn't going to be a speed run ... 'the hell? Since when did speedruns become the default way of doing a TF? Anyway, after he left we completed the TF with 7 people in under an hour, just running all missions front to back, charging all the AVs. Awesome team that was.
  20. I wouldn't call Tin mage boring, but Apex does beat it by a mile on pure fun factor. Apex is a fast paced continuous stream of combat, and you need to stay on your toes for the final battle. Best thing in game imo.

    There's a slow way now?

I am stopping xp every other mission in Praetoria in order not to outlevel the next contact. I have found that if you solo, and NOT kill everything in the missions you can just get from one contact to the next without outleveling anything. As soon as you hop on a team or do a mission that is not yours you are blazing past everything.

This however is something that I whole heartedly agree with. It was acceptable (barely) for my spider to get shot at by every other Arachnos goon he passed by. But in Praetoria it really annoys me.
