Seems to me like a great QA tool. Attaching Long Range TP's functionality to a clickable object makes it way faster to test out the feature across various characters with various powers, than it would be to create and level new characters or respec them all. There's probably a door like this in each of those zones, tucked out of the way somewhere that no-one looks twice. In all the kafuffle around Freedom, this one thing just got forgotten and left in.
I wouldn't expect it to survive the next patch though, now that it's been noticed -
I can't always make it to these, but every time I go it's a blast. The outfits that show up at Hero Dawn contests are first-rate. Thanks for hosting!

Welcome to the city! -
Sounds like it's gonna be fun!
My 'Mockery' entry is already dressed up and hiding behind a bookcase in the university, just waiting to jump out and start scaring people -
Are you the only person having problems accessing the inspirations? Try having a friend attempt to take something out, or install the client on a different computer and try from there. At least that way you'll know if the issue is with your client / computer, or a random glitch with the base itself.
Also, do you have more than one inspiration bin? If so, are you having problems with all of them, or only the one bin? Narrowing it down like that might give a telling clue as to what's happening. Like perhaps there's one particular inspiration that's glitched, but it's an uncommon one to store so most people wouldn't have the issue. -
Holy shnikeys!
Well the one I sent you the other day was just an idea. Please don't feel that you have to respond to it.
There, that should cut your stack down by approximately one 2134th.
*nods graciously*
You're welcome -
Yeah, I think I did misunderstand it. My bad. That's what I get for trying to post when I'm brain-dead tired!
I still like the idea of adding weapon options for more powers, regardless of how it happens really. Some kind of penalty is reasonable if it's my choice to opt-in in the first place. -
Quote:I'd be happy to volunteer into an acc nerf to keep my weapon drawn permanently. And I'd be just as happy to take a draw time penalty to add a weapon to a ranged set. But not everyone would, and that's the sticking point. No you wouldn't. The redraw would just be the price the player pays for having a differnt animation. There would be PLENTY of people who would use the differnt animations with redraw without adding anything else to the mix.
Quote:As for removing the acc... They could maybe add an additional delay on to simulate the redraw so they could leave in the acc?
Now, I can much more easily see them doing a form of proliferation. They already have Assault Rifles, Pulse Rifles, and now Beam Rifles. They could scavenge some animations and models from those and make duplicate blast sets. Call it X Weapon rather than X Blast. It's basically the same powerset, but compensating for adding in a weapon option. This method is easiest to implement for rifle versions, since they already have an ample supply of animations for those weapons, but leaves room for them to add in alternate weapons and animations.
In fact, you could give them snappy names to up their appeal. (These names were intended for the rifle versions.)
-Fire Rifle: Thermal Cannon
-Electric Rifle: Coilgun
-Radiation Rifle: Particle Cannon
-Sonic Rifle: Concussion Rifle
-Energy Rifle: Railgun
-Ice Rifle: Cryo Rifle
-Dark Rifle: Anti-Matter Rifle
-Psychic Rifle: Neuron Cannon
-Archery: Crossbow
This might not be the easier change to implement, but I think it would be the easier change to get approved. -
I'd love that too! Many of my characters would make more sense that way, and I've wanted it for a while myself.
Unfortunately, according to Posi in one of the Ustreams, the redraw time in weapon-based powersets was balanced by giving those sets extra inherent accuracy. So to paraphrase, they can take away the redraw requirement... if we want our accuracy nerfed.
Which means similar issues would come with adding in weapon options to existing sets. You'd have to account for the weapon's draw time somehow. Would that mean giving the weapon-based versions an accuracy buff? Then who in their right mind would use the non-weapon version again? Essentially it would be a major overhaul of every powerset that gets this treatment. (Major as in how big a change it is, not how complicated it might be to do or how long it might take.)
So yeah... I think this one is in the "too big a change for so few requests" folder. Which is too bad, cause my tech blaster really, really wants a rifle for those bolts of electricity he's always throwing around. They're starting to burn through his gloves! -
He must be new. He doesn't know only players can get dayjob badges.
What, Hellions can't use ParagonWiki? Learn to play noob! -

I would definitely like this, as well as the ability to load the head & body scales without changing the clothing parts.

I recall reading somewhere that anything put in the rack before the change would stay stored, but you can't add more while it's over the limit. Although I started shortly after the change to storage limits, so I can't speak from experience.

I remember one of the devs talking about this recently, I believe it was Zwill in one of the latest Ustreams. They said they were going to be shuffling around the forum categories in the near future. Removing some sections that rarely get used, combining overlapping topics, moving some stuff around to places that make more sense with Freedom's changes. That kinda thing.
Considering how much emphasis they want to place on the market from here on out, it would make perfect sense to have a separate section just for it. -
When I first saw it, I thought that GR characters must have a whole other creator screen. hehe
Glad it helped -
Hold on a sec before you bug it. Go into your character creation screen, in the Origin tab. The big "Freedom" and "Going Rogue" signs are the buttons for making either Primal or Praetorian characters. It can be easy to miss them, because they really don't look very much like buttons. A lot of players think they're just brand logos.
If that's not what's happening, then yeah, it's like warden said. -
It's a pretty ingenious advertising method if you ask me. It puts the idea that you can change your costume right in front of a player, every time they level up. Considering that now you can see what the pay-for costume pieces look like in the tailor screen, and buy them quickly and conveniently, it makes for a pretty solid business decision.
Mind you, I'm not a fan of merging the people-donut around trainers with the people-donut around tailors. But I'm sure the first time someone gets ganked by a dropship, they'll learn to play dress-up indoors. -
I think a big part of the problem is that there are two distinct groups of people using this system, each for drastically different reasons, but they're both forced into sharing one resource for sorting, rating and feedback.
One group cares primarily about the entertainment value an arc provides. They like the rewards too... who wouldn't. But I think if it came down to either playing for no rewards or losing the Architect system completely, much of this group would rather play without rewards than forever lose access to the collection of stories they've come to enjoy.
The other group cares primarily about the reward value of the arc. They might enjoy a good story, but if it came down to either losing the ability to add custom text and costumes to an arc, or losing the system altogether, I think the majority of this group would give up the customization in a heartbeat.
There is some overlap between the two groups, some players who enjoy both aspects equally or who prefer one or the other on different days. But the trouble comes from the fact that the majority of players who use this system fall firmly into one category or the other. Each believes that the other's preferred arc style is a useless waste of time, and that their own makes the most sense. And they're both right... the two play styles are so different, that their arc lists shouldn't be lumped together in the first place.
Which is why I think that any solution would have to involve separating all Architect arcs into two different lists - Farms and Stories. (But come up with a less obvious name than Farms; something like Action maybe.) Just go ahead and give each playstyle its own database, clearly marked as such, and the two can go about their own business without interfering with one another anymore. There's just such a fundamental difference in their respective goals and playstyles, that it seems counter-productive to force these two communities to share the same workspace and the same set of tools.
For example, when an author publishes their arc, it defaults to the Farm tab, unless they deliberately change the setting to publish it to the Story tab. Clearly explain at the top of the Story search field, that the primary goal of this list of arcs is to tell a story, and if you're looking for a faster pace with more action, you'd be best suited searching the other list.
Searching in one will not show any arcs published in the other, and vice versa. And they would have to be separate lists too, because the type of players who will give a story-based arc a poor rating because it "gave bad xp", is exactly the type who will not notice or use search tags or descriptive keywords to distinguish between two types within the same list. -
"Greetings flesh persons of Earth land! The one whose air sounds say Dillo is most jubilant to put in your ears a new form of making air sounds! The thing to exchange your valuables for has the air sounds that say 'Rosetta Stone'! It will put in your ears the mouth shapes and throat gurgles made by flesh persons on the other sides of your Earth land!"

Wait a sec... didn't the new fiction that Protean wrote hint at an upcoming invasion of Hamidon seedlings into Primal Earth? If that doesn't count as "Fungus Among Us" I don't know what would.
-
I completely agree, the event channels work perfectly... for messages that get sent *while you're logged in*. But that's no help for things that started before you logged in, while you were switching characters, or while you were getting DC'ed.
If the event channels were to give you a list on login of currently active events, the way the Consignment House channel lists your sold items, well then now we're talking. In that case the event channels really would be all you'd need. -

Quote:That works too! I always thought those things looked pretty cool. It'd be nice if they did something, rather than just sitting there.Good idea! Maybe they could use all those worthless information Kiosks to actually provide information of this nature.
Quote:Are there Information Kiosks in Rogue Isles?
Maybe those Patrol Points (little yellow phone thingies)? -
I agree with this suggestion, and always will.
If they don't like using email for it they could always take advantage of that new certificate/voucher tech. Current members with the right privileges can go to the sg registrar and create a "membership application" as a character item that can only be claimed by the global it was sent to. The character that claims it joins the group that sent it.
