Salvage Storage Rack bug?

Upon returning to COH after a few years off, I find that our base's Salvage Storage Rack is listed as having 937/30 pieces of salvage in it. If the limit is supposed to be 30, how is it that I see so many pieces of salvage in it? Even if the count of 937 is off (due to a bug), I can confirm that there is way more than 30 pieces of salvage in this one rack (much of it could be base salvage for all I know--the rack doesn't let you "sort" by type the way the regular character Salvage window does with its category tabs).

Is this a bug? What are the implications for taking salvage out and continued storage of all those pieces in there?

I recall reading somewhere that anything put in the rack before the change would stay stored, but you can't add more while it's over the limit. Although I started shortly after the change to storage limits, so I can't speak from experience.

salvage racks were changed to a limit of 30 some time ago, if you had more than 30 items in the rack before the change they would stay there but you could not add more items until the rack had less than 30 items

i think it was due to having too many items in bases that it made the base unstable and there was a chance it could become corrupted (i think the upper limit on how many items we can have in a base is around 12000, past that bad things have a chance of happening)

The alternative would have been to delete 907 random items and make players heads explode. This is working as intended. You can remove items at will, but can not add until it gets below 30.

I think it was to prevent hoarding because we were able to store invention salvage in the racks.

with how much salvage we can store per character that may or may not have been really it lol

im fairly sure it was what i described cause 1000 items per rack and 18 racks at max is 18018 items right there, which would be pushing the upper limit of what is possible that we can store in the bases without crashing it

That was the initial reasoning we were given at the time.

That is why the first reason doesn't hold water any better than a steel sieve. (as we knew it wouldn't)

This was the second round of reasoning given to us... not necessarily stated directly by any red name that I've seen, but rather passed on indirectly by players "in the know".

Please remember that a lot of players find the hoops we have to jump thru to store items on different characters to be a pain in the butt and simply don't bother. So it was an effective deterrent in that respect.
