  1. Did you run those arcs before the patch that added Taskmaster Gabriel? Because of the way he works, he can't track any arcs that were completed before he was added to the game. He was in the March 20th patch.

    Edit: His wiki link.

You'd have to start calling him Sub-Woofers.

But then they'd give you an exclusive seagull pet named Tweeters.

I think I'm kind of an oddity in this area. One of my favorite things to do is under-20 street sweeping. What I've started doing lately is creating new characters just to go from Atlas to Hollows to Steel, with the last couple levels in Talos. I'll divert to King's or Skyway or Indy for a change of scenery every so often. But once they hit 20, I pretty much just delete the character or reroll it with a different powerset combo. I'd keep going past 20, but at that point the xp curve gets steeper, and the time to next level starts to get tedious.

I have higher level characters too, but I find this fun and relaxing.
  4. From the patch notes:

    Quote:
    • Inner Inspiration: Fixed a bug that caused the 30 minute lockout period of Inner Inspiration to track in-game time. Instead it now correctly uses in or out of game time.
    • Toggle Powers no longer drop after having been logged out for 15 minutes or more.
My guess is fixing the Inner Inspiration issue is what lead to realizing the toggle change would be possible, and probably relatively easy as well since it was released in the same patch.
  5. I can only speak for myself when I say, I hang out there to people watch. I like checking out the costumes and character names, and more often than not if I see a character I really like, I'll tell them so.

If they also seem new to the game I like to give them a little something to help ease them through their earlier levels. And usually a set of halloween salvage to get a free costume slot with, as well as an escort to Croatoa to turn it in. It's a great way to say hello and help make new players feel a little more welcomed to the game.

That's something I enjoy doing, and Atlas is a great place to find new players. So if I'm not busy that's probably where you'll find me.
  6. It might've only been added in with the patch, too.

Of course, since it's not mentioned in today's Featured Items post, maybe it's not supposed to be there at all.

    *whistles innocently*

Nothing to see here! Go about your business, folks...
  7. I'm also seeing the "Signature Summon" power in there right now. The one from the Tier nine repeatables, that summons an EB.

Powers -> Temporary Powers -> Summon Pet

    250 pts for 5 charges.

    Lend A Hand

I've been the person getting the help, and I've been the person doing the helping. And I'll tell you now, they're both very good feelings.

The truth is, you don't have to do that much to help out a new player. A little kindness, such as a few answered questions or helpful tips, can prevent them from feeling overwhelmed and leaving. You'd be amazed how much it can put you at ease just to know the people around you are willing to be *polite*, let alone friendly.

While I'm bouncing around the city, I like to keep an eye out for folks who stand out to me somehow. If they have a cool name, fun outfit, or I just like the cut of their jib, I'll tell them so. If I see that they're new in town I'll ask if they might be interested in a free costume slot, and if they say yes then I'll give them what I call a "new player welcome kit": a set of event salvage, some inf to use it, and a tour to Annah to turn it in. Then, if they're not in a hurry to get back to something, I'll ask them if they have any questions. It doesn't take that long, it's a great break between missions, and I usually find that I had a good time doing it.

So, like Winter said. Next time you see someone who could use a hand, try sparing ten minutes for them. You might just like it

May I suggest either a long stretch of crate-filled docks, or the roof of the police station. Because, docks and rooftops. Unless you can find a dark alley big enough to fit fifty people in it...
  11. Here's my guess on what happened here.

Up to a week ago I was insta-buying full stacks of medium yellow, red and purple insps for 100 inf each. Since I-22 the prices have gone up to a thousand or two per insp. I'd been chalking it up to new-issue activity bursts, but reading this thread, I'm seeing things differently.

I think they found out that such high availability and low cost for the in-game insps was causing folks to ignore the dual and team insps they have on the market. I mean, for reliable prices like 100 inf per medium insp, why even bother opening the market UI to look it up? No matter what the price is, paragon points are still real-world cash, whereas inf is risk-free.

Sure, the in-game insps are still low in price, but they're not *ridiculously* low anymore, so maybe a few more people are considering the market insps again. Because regardless of how well or poorly the market insps are selling, they can't just go and let another option render them *completely* invalid. Not when they can fix it quickly and easily.

Not just any old justice, either. That's for regular ants.

Giant ants? That's for Great Justice!
  13. - Travel Power: Shopping Cart Surfing

    - Non-Combat Pet: Tribbles: Two Tribbles moving within a certain range of one another causes a chance to summon a new Tribble, which then has a chance of summoning a new Tribble with each of the previous Tribbles... and so on...

    - Temp Power: Banana Peel: causes knockdown, with a chance to make the target slide around first like they were on an ice patch

    - Temp Power: Toy Hammer: smacking your target with this oversized inflatable hammer causes a massive taunt, and a whimsical squeaking noise
  14. I had a blast last night, thank you for hosting it!

I counted... I took 87 screenshots. Man that was one good looking group!

  15. That costume set strikes me as an attempt to port Nemesis pieces over to players. The two have a very similar feel, at least to my eye. But for whatever reason they felt it needed something more so they punched it up with some glowy bits and crystals. At that point they couldn't call it Nemesis anymore, so they just picked a new name. That's what I think happened.
  16. I for one welcome our new Canadian overlord.

Being from The Rock myself, I'm sure the city will start feeling just a little bit more like home now. Beauty, eh?

Congrats to you both on new titles and new projects!
  17. I've been waiting for this pack since the five origin-based Super Boosters were finished and we were wondering what would come next. And you're not letting me down, it looks fantastic so far

I particularly love that there will be both glowing and non-glowing options. The current batch of glowing costume parts look plenty good, but I don't personally like using them. So I'm pleased as punch that I get the choice to not glow.

Also, in this picture I see there's a version of the headgear (female in this case) that does not have the spindles and rings. Hopefully that will be a final option as well, because I've wanted a head covering of this type for females ever since that resistance flap-cap hat was added for males.

It's one of the funnest packs I've seen yet, as well, and I do like it so far! Thank you very much for sharing its progress with us
  18. What I would love to see on the market is a power that boosts the effectiveness of all my unslottable powers. Things like temporary, inherent, veteran, dayjob, and craftable powers. The stuff that basically just wastes your time after you level up high enough, because they rarely hit and have insignificant impact when they do.

The way I see it, you'd buy the initial power and it would unlock (account-wide) with one "slot", in which you could put any non-set enhancement (TOs, DOs, SOs, and common IOs). Every unslottable power you use will benefit from the enhancements slotted in this ability, if it can. Obviously "Med Pack" will ignore Accuracy, just like "Sands of Mu" will ignore Healing, for example. This lets you choose what attribute is more important to that character. Accuracy? Damage? Endurance Reduction? Mez or Debuff?

It could even be set to only affect powers that target foes, since those are the only ones that really lose effectiveness (due to the foes' increased defense and resistance at higher levels).

You could then purchase up to five additional "slots", one at a time or as a bundle, allowing for further boosts. My suggestion for pricing would be 600pts for the original ability with the first slot (remember, this is every unslottable power, for every character on the account), and 800pts for the remaining five slots as a bundle (or 200pts individually).

I had no idea it was that bad in there. I've been avoiding logging in til they fix the UI bug. That's pretty harsh.
  21. You can go through Support under your Master Account page: Link

Or try Asking A Question at: support.cityofheroes.com

Or failing that, try sending a petition in-game by typing in: /petition
  22. Wow! Yeah, that is definitely a bug then. I can't think of any way that one character can have Beam Rifle but it would be locked for other characters afterward.

That's one to take up with Customer Support, for sure.

BTW, feel free to drop me a PM or update the thread here, let me know how it works out. I've got my fingers crossed that it gets fixed quickly for you. Good luck!
  23. I suppose it could be a bug. But you've been playing the other character just fine, right? Seems to me a bug like that would have showed with the first character, not the second.

Any chance you can take a screenshot from inside the character creator? Seeing just how it's denying things might help.
  24. Wow, neither Blaster nor Devices is restricted in any way... that really is odd.

You said you unlocked it on another server. Did you make a Beam Rifle character there already, or is this the first one you've tried?
  25. Yeah, that is weird. What's the archetype, and the other powerset you're trying to pick?
