I've tried all of the ancillary's w/ this brute. Took the one listed last respec to try it, and I'm not married to it at all.
-
I run it. I love it. You CAN run SS/WP w/o Hasten, but you really should have it. Sooo much better w/ it. It's the same premise that every blaster. EVERY BLASTER should have hasten. It makes your chain really good instead of decent.
Tourettes.
PS my SS/WP tank has been my favorite character for a long time. -

Quote:Thanks a ton. THis is what part I was missing. Kept getting tips for hero/vigilante.Head over to the Rogue Isles either via the sub in Independence Port or going through Pocket D and run Paper Missions or join teams there. You will gather tips that will give you a villain option. Do enough of those and you will get a Morality Mission. Finish that and and a villain you shall become.
-
Thought I had it down, but cannot seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I had a Hero and did the missions to become vigilante. Problem is, now I cannot figure out how to go from Vigilante to Villain. Little help please?
Thanks,
Tourettes
also, I'd assume the process will be reversed for becoming hero. Just let me know if different. -
Been playing a LONG time, and have never played a Controller or a Dom. Just came back and saw the Electric set, so rolled ELEC/ELEC. Been reading other builds and info on 'em and seems to show that they're not as survivable as others. Is this going to be a wasted effort would be a question I have. Will it be fun, and a solo-able toon?
Thanks,
Tourettes. -
I have one now. Only lvl 15. Never made a Dom before. Gonna see how this pans out.
-
The Kinfender dies every time he SB's the brute.
Tourettes -
You can stack Rage, but everytime one crashes, your dmg is crashed. The reason you stack 'em is higher dmg when they're running. And for a bit, you have 3x, not double.
-
-
Quote:Yeah, I have a 50 Kinfender who is AMAZING at this! Keep him invis as much as possible, but FS can cause him to die too. I usually take a ton of rez INSPS. lolAll you need to do is fire off SB every 90 seconds and occasionally switch back to the Fire/Kin for less than a second to fire off FS when it drops. I used to do this, and it's not at all difficult, complicated, or slow.
Tourettes. -
I like the shields idea. Bubbles are awesome. Sonic too.
I have her follow me, invis, w/ heal spam, and AM at first of mission. Very little to do w/ her. And when she dies, I veng for more Dmg.
Ran a friend's ss/fire w/ mine, and it was stupid good. Doubled my dmg. Can you believe that? LOL
Tourettes. -
Before anyone says it...I KNOW that ideally another SS/FA brute would be best. :P
Barring running that, what would be a great "Perma Sidekick" to the ultimate in farm brutes?
Now that second account is F2P I've been running a Rad/Rad Defender w/ Radiant Aura on auto cast. She AM's me at beginning of mission, heals by proximity, and when she does die (and she DOES die) then I have a veng target. WIN.
Anyone have better idea?
Tourettes -
Sorry. Couldn't enjoy the video due to the stupid pants they put on that toon. Bad enough I have to tell my nephews to pull up their pants...I shouldn't have to tell it to CoHers now too. :P
Tourettes. -
This was my "Superman" type of toon. Basically a "Flying Brick" for the PnP gamers. He does very well, but I'm concerned I have gimped him in some way. Single target he's a BEAST, and he is dang hard to kill...but I'd like recommendations from the Tanker Guru's as to what would make him MUCH better.
Some powers HAVE to say. Super Speed, Flight, and Hasten. While on that, is Burnout any good? Just saw it today.
Thanks,
Tourettes

Went through and couldn't find this specific powerset. Would love some slotting help from the pro's. (I'm admittedly still extremely novice when it comes to slotting...blush)
This is my current build out:
Can't use MIDS bc apparently build is so old the powers don't seem to match what my options are. Sorry for the old School method:
EM:
Energy Punch: 6 slots: 5x Crushing Impacts (minus acc/dam/end) and Mako's Bite (Chance for Lethal)
Bone Smasher: 6 Slots: 5x Stupify (-Chance for KB), Dmg IO
Total Focus: 6 Slots: Same as Bone Smasher
Whirling Hands: 6 Slots: Same as Bone Smasher
Energy Transfer: 6 Slots: Crushing Impact Set
EA:
Kinetic Shield: 4 Slots. 3x DEF IO, 1x End Redux
Dampening Field: 3 Slots: 2x Dmg Redux, 1x Impervium Armor (Psi Resist)
Power Shield: 4 Slots: Slotted as Kinetic Shield
Entropic Aura: 1 slot. Empty. (Think this is due to previous power?)
Energy Protection: 3 Slots: 2x Dmg Redux IO, 1x Impervium Armor (Psi Resist)
Energy Drain: 6 Slots: Efficiacy Adapter Set
Energy Cloak: 1 Slot, 1x End Redux IO
Overload: 6 slots: 3x Rech Redux IO, 3x Def IO
Health: 3 slots, Health IOs
Stamina: 3 Slots, End mod IOs
Hasten: 3 Slots, 3x Rech REdux IOs
Boxing: 1 slot, empty
Tough: 4 Slots, 3x Dmg Redux IOs, 1x End redux IO
Combat Jumping: 2 slots, 1x Jump IO, 1x End Redux IO (not sure if should slot this at all)
Super Jump: 3 slots, 3x Jump IOs. (Again, I know this needs to be one slot)
Leviathan Mastery:
School of sharks: 6 slots: 1x ACC, 3x dmg, 2x Rch. all IOs
Arctic Breath: 6 Slots: Same as School of Sharks
Summon Guardian: 1 Slot: Rech Redux.
If you've made it this far, your brain may be about to explode due to the lack of sets. I understand how inefficient this is, and that's why I bring him to you. This was my 1st lvl 40 and then first lvl 50. No PL'ing I lvl'd him all on my own.
Please don't include HO's, but any other non-PVP set is fine. (Purples ok as I do fine farming).
Thanks so much,
Tourettes
PS- The character IS Tourettes. -
I'm having problems figuring out where to go w/ my build also. Here's where I'm at so far w/ slotting. I am pretty sure I have the powers I want, but slots always give me fits.

My Energy/Energy Brute is in the same boat. He cannot deal out enough dmg to bring one down. Also, I'm not talking about the rare spawn GM's. I mean the Monsters out on Monster Island in PI.
Tourettes. -
Cool...and thanks for the tip in your SIG about making the launcher less intrusive. I used that back when you first posted it and it helped me out greatly!

Quote:YOU sir, are my new hero.mmk, went ahead had PLed someone 1-50 last night to see how the resent change effected everything.
Took 3:19. Exactly 14 arcs, 70 missions, of FIRE! (ID# 423253)
Load times were included, they had an average of 6 in 7 out. Which means there was about....15 minutes of load times i think. I honestly couldnt believe how fast they were.
Thats down from about 2 hours and 9.5 arcs.
I'll chime in that I have a SS/Fire brute for PL'ing, but for purple farming against mobs, I use my Arch/MM blaster. He's faster than my brute, and anyone who sees it in action is usually much more impressed.
I'm not saying my blaster is faster than any tooled out SS/Fire brute. I'm saying my blaster is faster than MY brute. Both are farmers and I have spent MINIMAL money on either. Both have a couple of LotG's and regular IO's. No sets. Oh, the blaster has Stealth IO in his combat jumping. But I farm purples w/ a toon that has maybe 20 played on him, and most were farming.
I'll try out that arc. Thanks for posting it. -
Any brutes able to do this? I have several toons (tanks and brutes) that can stand there and beat on one all day w/o dying myself, but I cannot deal the dmg to take 'em down. Specifically the ones on Monster Island.
IF you have a build that's been able to take one down, please share that info w/ me.
Thanks,
Tourettes. -
I know that the AT forums are arranged alphabetically, and I can see the logic in this, but shouldn't the Brute Forum be at the top? I think it should. The other AT's can follow "rules" and be all alphabetical. Discuss...
Tourettes -
Made a Broad Sword/ Shield Scrapper and have gotten him to lvl 31, but he dies a LOT. Running mostly AE missions, and have it set to +0/x1. Doesn't feel like he should die so often.
Currently have all def powers, and Tough/weave.
Suggestions, or is this working as intended.
Haven't IO'd yet. Just using SO's.
Thanks,
Tourettes. -
I'd go w/ brute. And I'd go w/ SS/WP. Hercules was tough, but not invulnerable. Also the WP bonus you get for multiple targets attacking you is AMAZING. I've got WP's and I've got Invuls. Not a lot of difference in their survivability. Really depends on which mobs you're fighting.
