  1. War Mace is beautiful in the later levels. You can pretty much chain AoE attacks and be surrounded by pretty orange numbers. But yes, the early ST attacks at early levels are tricky.

For end use, I always slot accuracy and endurance reduction first, then add damage as I get the slots, so I never really had dramatic problems with it. It does go dry faster than others, just had to pay a little extra attention.
  2. I'd vote for SR if only that the stupidly high number of defense it can get by level 22.
  3. I'm finding its the other way around. Used to be 22 was when the engines got running, but with inherent fitness, the underground trial, the revamped Posi TF, and level 15 IOs, the tens are really enjoyable.

Given how many memes people say this thing contains, a part of me is happy I didn't get most of them. Another part is sad I missed a lot of jokes.

Out of curiosity, what's the % of 2 level 55 recharge IOs?

When Synapse figures out how to make the game not blow up by adding 3 slots. It worked for leveling builds, did nasty things for level 50s.

I tried, oh I tried to like Disrupt. Ugly animation killed it for me. Having it break placate made it worse.

My level 35 respec'ed out of Tough/Weave and got Energy Drain and Energize. Still seeing how that works. Better end management, but I do feel more vulnerable. I used to have ~41% S/L with suppressed Hide, not anymore, unless I Drain. My build is heavy on Crushing Impacts, which I could replace one or two with Kinetic Combats to make up for it. We'll see how it works.
  7. I want to be a very genre savvy super tough action star (Commando, First Blood, etc) in a parody action movie (Hot Shots, Naked Gun, etc).
  8. I admit that I think the reward tables seem excessive (one IO worth 150 million for 40 minutes of play!!), but this might be due to the "first time" reward (If I understood Posi correctly).

I am making 2 Hero Merits in 40 or so minutes on every alts now because they have never done this arc. After this week, all they can hope to attain is 1 Hero merit a week. And since all episodes of the arc share the cooldown, I can't run all episodes back to back and get 7 merits in 2 hours.

I still think it might be a lot, but not drastic enough, nor available enough to cause massive farming and dry other parts of the game as other content has done.

After all my alts have run this, I'll treat it as a sort of weekly stipend of one H merit.

There is a "First Time Played" reward, that is independent of the 1-week cooldown. Thus when you first play an SSA, it will seem like you can get two rewards. In the following weeks it will only be one.

All SSA's share the same week-long cooldown, so when you have SSA 1.1 and SSA 1.2 and SSA 1.3, you can only get one week-long cooldown reward, not one for each.

The above is the reason for the "First Time Played" reward. A player who starts playing SSAs in the middle or the end of the arc isn't gated by the week-long cooldowns. They can play each SSA and get the good reward table every time. Only after they have done the "First Time" will they be gated further by the week-long cooldown.
So the mass amount of merits I've been getting its due to first times. After this it will all seriously chill down to more reasonable levels.

That might work. Thanks for the clarification.

Still, this is one scenario where the altoholics will make out like bandits
  10. My level 25 dominator is happily sitting with 4 LoTG:+rech. All attained today through H-merits conversion.

Is the mass number of these we can get expected?

BaBs suggested this a while ago and dropped it for discussion. That became a HUGE thread with opinions and suggestions all over the place.

    It was not pretty.
  12. I'm enjoying Afterburner. But then again, this is on a Gravity/energy dominator, so I have too few good powerpicks to begin with.

The target audience for these trailers seem to be adults with nostalgia. The Hangover trailer was also based on something not kiddie friendly.
  14. New PBAoE stun aura for stalkers. Was only able to slot it with an acc. So far, liked it, managed to stun some lts. Comes in handy against large groups.

But the VFX need to go and/or be seriously toned down. It's in no way "subtle."

Energy Drain acts like Ice's +end +def power. Except for the longer animation. Still has the old one, so expect to wait a while before you get your defense and your endurance in.

Still too low to test Energize.

Anyone managed to test them further and get a better feel for it?
  15. Spent 5 bucks on each account (have 2) for the token. Still have 700-800 points on each account. No plans with them yet.

I made my Strong/Pretty scrapper with the barbarian mace and some barbarian pieces. He is very War Mace and very Energy Aura.
  17. I run a few alts who are level pacted with this theme. Shield/Eng tank <==> Eng/Eng blaster. Defense and offense mode if you will.
  18. Y'know, though I started and got hooked with Tennant, I really liked Eccleston's take when I went back to see that season. It's a shame he got only a season.
  19. This reminds me of a time I was putting a Manticore together with my tank and ended with 3-4 blasters and 3-4 scrappers, and nothing else. Absolute PuG. There were some concerns about it, but I was confident it would be fine. A blaster told me "you better be a damn good tanker," and I replied "you better be damn good at killing stuff, cause if you aren't I'll be going down eventually."

That broke the tension, we all did our part, and the TF ran smoothly.
  20. My main build is packed with IOs. The second build uses common IOs. I use it mostly to see how content feels for a regular player and/or to see how much tougher I am with the IOs. You sometimes forget how awesome the defense soft-cap is.

Oh... this is so painful. I've learned so far to quit these and/or make my own team. I get a kick out of out broadcasting a recruiter.

HIM: X TF forming, room for 2, need an empath and a kin. Send tell.
ME: X TF forming, room for 7. Bring whatever.

    Mine fills up faster,
  22. I grew up in Puerto Rico, so we usually get a few hurricanes and plenty of hurricane warnings, so by now I know what needs to be done to handle them. They give enough warning and the storm and rain are probably the biggest problems to handle since a lot of water can get anywhere.

Growing up like this I figured tornadoes were kiddie threats. Faster, sure, I'll give them that, but really, they are much much smaller than hurricanes. Big whoop.

And then I moved to Iowa and got to see one up close. Boy I was wrong. I saw one white column out my window one night and the very next day was a frightening scene. You could see the path it took through town. Seeing houses not so much leveled, but still standing with the middle part missing sent chills down my spine.

Hurricanes do damage all over the place, but tornadoes do a lot of damage in a very concentrated area. Have to respect that.

Quick and unannounced would be on my concern list.

I've gimped myself in so many games already... Diablo 1 and 2, the various D&D and aD&D games, Hellgate: London and so on.

This sort of system is made to foster some kind of in-between customization where players can pick a mid-point between two traditional classes, and that's what it ends up doing even if that's not what it's intended to do. The problem is that this intermediate point is usually just not very good and creates weak jacks of all trades.
Though I agree with you (I've messed up the multi-traits system in other games) if the traits were limited to the AT in specific, without giving the player to assign points in throwaway stats, it could work.

For example, have just one melee AT, and let the traits be speed, defense, and offense. All stuff that they need. Focusing on defense would yield a tank, focusing on offense would lean more towards stalker, with brutes/tanks being in the middle range.

Likewise, blasters, defenders, dominators, and corruptors can be rolled up into a ranged AT, with focus on damage/debuff/control.
  24. I enjoyed the heck out of my Invul/Mace tank's AoEs. Not as mass meltface as my Firey/Fire melee tank, but so much more satisfying to brutally swing a big chunk of metal like a madman and hit so many foes to frequently. All the orange numbers (even if small) make me happy.

Crowd Control + Whirl Mace (whatever its real name is) is entertaining.

Looking forward to going scrappy with it.
