Is there a way to see who a person is replying to in linear mode? This is the only thing I haven't figured out.
Oh, and the heroic stars aren't villainous. I'd love to see what you all come up with in the future for this. *hint, hint* -
I liked having the market forums and invention forums seperate as well. I can see why they merged them, but this will probably only encourage the occasional anti-marketeer posts or the gimme more inf plz posts.

I've gotten very good at aid self on my SS/Elec:
Footstomp->Powersink->Aid Self is nearly 100% guaranteed to successfully fire in the midst of a mob. Powersink causes a forced animation which gives you a very brief window of time to those enemies that weren't knocked down with footstomp.
Now for a claws, I imagine if you got shockwave lined up well, it would do the exact same thing.
As to slotting for defense, you have to know the game well enough to understand which enemies debuff your defenses. The combat attributes monitor lets you make sure your defense is in the green. At around 25% melee defense, you're looking at an estimated 50% reduction in damage incoming. Try popping a medium purple sometime. That should give you a similar idea to the added benefits of melee defense. Also, it is important to note that if you have 25%+ melee defense, popping another luck will softcap your melee defense, making you 10x more survivable than if you had no defense.
So, yes, I think melee defense is worth it. -
The OP reposted in the brute forum to get more help. I'm not sure if he's been back here to read it or not.

I'm sure eventually I'll get tired of playing my thermal and buffing everyone at the markets.
In all seriousness, unless the person is intentionally griefing you, I don't see this being such a significant issue - and as for the griefing, sending a tell requesting them to stop and eventually a /petition will solve your problem.
No, you cannot petition me in advance. -
I'll be eager to try one then.
I'm still trying to decide on the secondary. I've been tinkering with claws/dark in mids for the past two days now. -
[ QUOTE ]
The cone and PBAoE issue is a matter of preference, especially when Shockwave is 90 degrees or arc. Of those skills, only Fault has 100% soft control. Shockwave and Focus are both 100%. There arguably isn't a better single target soft control skill than Focus in the entire game.
To state that Claws lacks soft control is wrong, and there's just no way to dance around it. Good try.
[/ QUOTE ]
Compared to other sets, it does lack soft control, as the greatest thing the set offers is endurance efficiency, which is perfect for a more end-heavy secondary. Also, the majority of the attacks in the claws set offer no mitigation. Compare this with SS, or better yet, stone.
I've always preferred AoEs to cones for mitigation. When you like to play at the aggro cap, the cone will likely only catch 50%, unless you maneuver. You can do this, but it slows down the killing speed somewhat. Shockwave is also a mild knockback power, versus the knockdown of other sets. I like keeping my enemies easily within range.
edit:
I'd also like to point out that I did not say claws did not have mitigation. My point was that other sets offer more consistent mitigation throughout the levels. I will be rolling a claws brute, but I'm not pairing it with /elec. -

Claws lacks soft control, so you'll likely be better off with something else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Umm, there probably isn't much better soft control than Focus and Shockwave.
[/ QUOTE ]
Tremor, Fault, Footstomp, Lightning Rod, Thunderstrike.
Focus is a single target attack. Shockwave is a cone. There are much better AoE KD powers available for pairing with /elec. -

Here is my two cents on this so be well and good luck....no matter where you go there you are.

That was not two cents. You, sir, owe me ten dollars.

This salvage wouldn't be temporary analyzers would it?
Notice the first word.
It was flooded. It is even possible a few people got tired of the prices and wanted to drive it down. In either case, it just goes to prove that marketeers cannot artificially sustain variance to profit over a long period of time. -
I'm not sure how much synergy there is between claws and electric armor. There isn't much mitigation to the set, and electric armor likes having extra mitigation, such as knockdown, stuns, etc. Then again, claws/stone armor sounds just plain silly.
I'm actually not quite sure what I'd want to pair with claws. Maybe even dark armor? I can't believe I'm considering that.
Anyway for claws/elec:
If you build for melee defense, you can easily get around 30% melee defense, so a single luck can cap your melee defense, which greatly increases your survivability. The only thing you want to watch with this is defense debuffs. The combat attribute monitor is a lifesaver - literally.
If you go the +hp/regen route, you're less prone to spikes with the RNG. This is likely a cheaper route to go as you can get some decent bonuses through frankenslotting.
As for why I even thought claws/dark:
-Uniqueness (I mean, who would roll one?)
-Lighter on endurance than other sets so the toggle-heavy dark armor is more friendly.
-It isn't going to be a FoTM anytime soon.
-Good health recovery tool.
-Stealth power offers some defense to stack with a defense build.
I just can't believe I just suggested Dark Armor.
*hangs head in shame*
I can't believe I'm probably rolling one in issue 16.
No, it won't be incredible. But it will be...entertaining. -

ok, all I asked for was a open debate/discussion. Not some childish banter. This thread was opened simply to give everyone an opportunity to state their viewpoint on AE. Not to be insulting or to exhibit (again) childish behavior. Please keep the comments to the thread topic and leave the immaturity to yourselves.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just in case you forgot: A reminder
1) That there are way too many threads on this topic.
2) That people open their mouth before thinking.
3) It's all been said before.
I'll give you 100 million inf if you not one of those links has a discussion on the merits of AE.
Even more specific I bet you that somewhere in those topics somebody argues that AE is good and that somebody disagrees and states that it is bad and that said discussion lasts at least a page.
My money is safe.
(unless a forum purge eliminates all the past topics, in which case, my wager is null and void)
The reason a lot of people, including myself, show disdain is because for the past two months we've been inundated with threads declaring that AE will ruin the game. I probably got about 250 or so of my post count based from AE threads (you could say I farmed them!). In the end, the thing I learned was there were legitimate concerns on both sides and a ton of useless arguments. I just don't see these threads being productive. However, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and answer your question. I hope your thread turns out better than the hundreds of others have.
To answer your question:
AE is a wonderful innovation. It can be fun, just like everything else in the game. It has greater potential for abuse, but also great potential for fun. There are times where I enjoy playing a mission specifically designed for a certain character. Is it farmable? Sure. Is it something you'll see broadcasted as a farm? Nope. A lot of the tools that allow for farming also allow for great fun. For me, at times, I just want to rip through enormous mobs for the fun of it. AE lets me do that. Yes, I'm farming, but there is always risk on my maps. It's why I enjoy fighting eldersnakes redside so much - it's a challenge, and in that case, the rewards are actually less than the risk. -
I have a lvl 40 numi unique redside. What's this about?
-
I just sold one gladiator's recipe for 90 mil. I forget which one - way to busy to pay attention to sales.
Anyway, if I don't get any bites for the set, I might just hang onto them. If anyone really is interested in this set:
@Tonality
@TonalRegress
I'd be more than happy to help someone out. -
With the proliferation, is this a brute or a scrapper?
If it's a brute, head to the brute forum for better advice.
I personally wouldn't roll a claws/elec - an endurance-friendly set on an armor built for endurance management.
Quick Options:
-Both Tough/Aid Self help soloing and teaming. Aid Self less-so on teams.
-Pick up weave if you decide on a melee defense (or S/L) build.
-You want the +HP accolades
-You can also slot for +HP/Regen. This route is a little more consistent than defense. -
-
Yes, I did misunderstand you then.
What I wouldn't give to have the bots have a smaller footprint. -
As EA is typed defense and not positional defense, I would avoid choosing positional sets over typed sets. I also wouldn't bother 2-slotting hecatomb, as the set-bonus isn't necessary on a set that has no difficulty recovering endurance.
-I'm not sure taking assault is worth it.
-Energy Drain should be auto-hit.
-There isn't much need for the chance for +end in Energy Drain. Slot for endmod/rech.
-Your neg-nrg defense isn't softcapped. It can be done.
-Although obliteration is a very nice set, I might actually lean toward 3 slotting with eradication and cleaving blow for better typed defense.
-The Miracle unique is likely unnecessary. I'd go for more regen.
-The Patron Pool is very useful. I wouldn't skip it - especially when you could pick up electric fences and ball lightning for more AoE. -
Take a gander at this set redside. Some of these are going for more than grav anchor. For example, the Acc/Hold (or was it rech/hold) was going for 180mil-200 mil. I have another one listed if you'd like it. I certainly would like you to buy it.
So...no, I'm not selling them for 35. >.> -
That's a map issue, and as such, there is no workaround.

Note: It isn't always knockback that causes it either. The mere fact that some of the pets stop and make ranged attacks and some rush in to h2h scatters the pod. as well. A skilled MM could eliminate that with pet_goto before a pet_attack, but that is lost on many of MMs I group with.
[/ QUOTE ]
This type of behavior is much less common than it used to be. I rarely have worry about keeping my henchmen on a leash. In fact, even recently, changes were done to ensure that pets behaved as they should. For the bots/ mastermind, it is far less likely to see a probot or drone run off to brawl something than it was even a year ago. In any case, I think you lost your credibility with masterminds already. In fact your suggestion of not using the drones is the worst solution for reducing knockback. The drones, are likely three or more levels below, reducing the effectiveness of knockback.
To the OP:
I have a suspicion the scatter you are seeing is related to the burn patch, not knockback. There is a workaround, but I don't think any of us will suggest it as it severely gimps another player (as well as annoys them). The other possibility is that the mastermind is several levels above the team and the mission. This can increase the knockback. Or the mastermind could have slotted for knockback (very unlikely)
In any case, you were hoping to find a lot of people agreeing with you, which you won't find. There are a myriad of players here, each with different playstyles. Furthermore, not everyone plays a brute and is well acquainted with the fury minigame. Some teams do indeed cripple fury, but those same teams are probably the safer and faster teams out there.
In any case, coming to a public forum seeking agreement is a bad idea.
