Quote:I know this was posted earlier in the thread, but this is a very good proposal.3: Being forced to have all three ranks in a custom group will penalize authors who are limited to a single rank due to file size or story limitations. I would suggest that the reward penalties should only apply to groups that contain NO MINIONS, so as to curb all-boss and all-LT farming while allowing all-minion or no-boss groups that some authors use.
The current proposal is very unfriendly to lowbie-focused missions, as low level characters have more difficulty handling bosses than upper levels, especially in the 1-10 range. This is also the point in time when people are eager to level quickly.
This proposal still greatly discourages the all-boss and all-lieutenant farms, but leaves a greater flexibility with mission design. -
Quote:When was farming declared a problem?Because I feel it at the market.
And because I find it contradictory for farming to be declared a problem in I14 and then mechanics developed to make farming easier in I16.
Powerleveling is only one form of farming.
I also have a very hard time understanding how drop-farming will have a negative impact on the market. -
Couple of things:
- Electric Armor is set to get a buff in issue 16, which should help you deal with the alpha.
- All resistances cap at 90%. You have 90% resistance to energy.
- Dark Obliteration is a nice attack. You'll usually rely on darkest night on hard attacks, but if you're not planning on regularly going toe to toe with AV's, I wouldn't recommend it over Dark Obliteration, but I like having a good kill speed.
- If you are building for defense, I would either focus on Smashing/Lethal or Melee. You can get one of these in the 30s without gimping yourself.
- Siphon life has a base heal of 10%. If you slotted it for healing, you're missing out on some damage potential. If you're looking at a recharge build, 5 crushings paired with a hami heal/end work nicely. -
Quote:War Mace got a buff recently (relatively). You might also consider this set, since clobber is now a good attack.
I'd really like some help with a BA/FA brute build, if anybody actually even plays one of these; I've searched the forums with my limited "search-fu" and have drawn a blank.
Quote:I was hoping that Blazing Aura would help fill in the chain with Fury production, but at the cost of more endurance.
Quote:Would I probably need to get Stamina in addition to Consume to offset this?
Quote:Also, with all the mitigation of knockdown, will I find it harder to build up to full Fury, or is that a misconception?
Quote:This is a concept character, so no matter how painful the journey may be, I'm pretty determined to see it through until the end. I'd just like it to be as painless as possible...
Once you hit around 35, look for cheap IO sets that nobody really wants. They exist, and will save you a ton of money and make your character a lot better. You aren't getting these for the set bonuses, but for the fact that you will be able to get better numbers improving your attacks. It's a practice called frankenslotting. -
Custom Critters generally are a higher threat level than most enemies you encounter in normal content. Now you can intentionally pick attacks that you know you will be able to perform well against, but that's the problem with allowing us to create content.
In general, custom critters, even on the easy setting have a good arsenal of attacks. They also get progressively more difficult the higher you level as more attacks become available. -
Here are five ideas. Not all are practical, nor do I necessarily support. However, they are offered as a point of discussion.
1) It's been suggested, but raising the 'tax' on items in the markets would reduce inflation. I don't like the idea for personal reasons (I like making inf), but it would help.
2) The issue 16 difficulty slider will help a little bit as people begin tweaking it and changing difficulty. You will spend a small bit tweaking this at level 50 to your individual tastes.
3) If purchasing prestige was more appealing I'd be more inclined to do so. Right now the exchange rate is rather horrid, and I have no desire to really add any more prestige to my personal base. Lowering the cost of purchasing prestige would be nice.
4) Allowing invention enhancements to be reslottable would help increase supply by those that decide they don't like a particular build.
5) Reducing the influence earnings per kill would help quell influence creation. As we get drops and whatnot, we can sell those to make the majority of our income. Many players already do this, but it is still very easy to earn 5-10 million inf from kills alone in the course of normal gameplay. -
Quote:I have run into a lot of people farming in AE that know nothing about farming.I think I might need to join this to learn the ways of the farm just so I can teach everyone in the AE how it's supposed to be done.
Quote:What's a good farming build? I never take the same powerset twice so it'd better be something I haven't tried before.
Blueside, Fire/Kins are popular because containment is incredible, and kinetics gives them the tools to maximize performance. They take a while to bloom, which is why I've yet to level a fire/kin. (that and I play almost exclusively redside). However, you can farm on a lot of characters. Archery blasters perform quite well with the right build. There's always the spines/fire scrapper, that can be fairly impressive as well.
However, I still recommend fire/kin because unlike the others, you can perform well with just SOs.
Redside, Brutes and Dominators are the farmers. Both typically require some serious investment, especially Dominators. The generic SS/WP is fun to play, and is quite powerful, due to its flexibility. The Fire/Psi dominator can still perform well (despite all the cries about the PSW nerf). However, you are looking at some serious IO investment, especially on the current market. -
Quote:That is quite a funny mental picture, Castle.there are other checks to help prevent the Conga Line of Death style of farming
I'd like them more common, but hey, I have 5 gladiator's nets listed redside at the high end of the bid spectrum. You're welcome to have at them! -
Quote:My guess is you'll find your stun protection drops for a half-second. If you're soloing maps set for more than yourself, you'll see that mez stack up. I carry purples when I solo resistance sets when I'm set for a larger team for this reason.I've been trying to figure out why I'm seeing my level 38 dm/wp have RttC drop during missions. I don't enter a mission without IW running. That means something is getting through IW just enough to detoggle RttC.
...
My only guess is that on 5th diff, enough mag is getting stacked to drop RttC but it's not enough to bypass the resistance portion so I don't notice being mezzed when I'm actually being mezzed. Of course, those values are at 50 and they do scale up as you level, so perhaps that is all that's happening. -
Quote:My experience is usually XP farmers hear of missions by word of mouth, not by searching for them. I doubt you will getting low ratings from XP farmers. Thanks for the reply. I unpublished the mission when I thought it was broken, as I didn't want low ratings from xp farmers. Later on I'll republish it and put the number up here.
Quote:I don't think #1 was the problem, as the enemies were all red and orange. As for #3, the mission was published at the time, and I'm pretty sure we played it normally.
Quote:#2 might have something to do with it, but I'm not sure. We had a range of levels - some low levels and some 50's - but I was the leader and I thought everything was scaled to the leader's level.
The same group played some other missions while I wasn't the leader, and we all earned XP despite the difference in levels. Have I just misunderstood how it works? :/
Your enemy range is 1-54. This is perfectly fine if you have a team to sidekick those players that are more than 5 levels below your highest character. I suspect that you played it on a level 50 with quite a few players that were 20-40 in range. None of them would have gotten any XP.
You have a few options to deal with this:
You can run this mission like it was a normal mission in the game, where you need enough SKs to have everyone in a similar level range, OR, you can go to mission parameters (click on the story book on [1]) and set the minimum and maximum level to something more team friendly. Setting your minimum level to 50 would probably be the most team friendly option. Now, this SK business will be done with in issue 16, and I highly recommend that when it comes out, you return the minimum level to 1. Until then, your best option is setting it to 50.
Overall, I felt your mission was good. I'll give it 5 stars.
If you set the minimum SK rules to 50 I will keep your arc ID# in mind on the few times I wind up in AE. As your mission plays very much like a 'normal' mission, it was quite nostalgic. -

Here was my old post I made for the forums. It doesn't work anymore, but here it is:
Quote:Couldn't you find even one topic about AE to post in? Nope I guess this topic has unique ideas that nobody has ever thought of. Some ideas might be good, some might be bad, but at this point I think every possible idea has been covered.
Each word is a link to a different thread about issues with AE. I bet that if you read through each and every one of threads you would:
1) Need to smash somebody's face in
2) Realize arguing this topic is pointless
3) Find a corner to cry in
4) Wish you hadn't even bothered posting
5) Be stunned that there are that many threads on AE.

Would you post your arc id please? I'm sure someone here can have a look at it.
There are several reasons why your team may have not gotten XP:
1) The enemies you fought do not go up to the level range you were in. I suspect you would notice this, as they would die rather quickly and they would be gray in appearance, rather than a myriad of possible other colors.
2) Your team composition was not all within a 5 level range. Anyone more than 5 levels below the highest character would not get experience.
3) You clicked 'test' rather than 'play' when you started the mission. If it happens again, click the Mission Architect button in your nav bar and see if you have additional options like turning on invincibility and whatnot.
4) You've discovered a weird bug nobody else has encountered yet. This will only be confirmed if others can test your arc. -
Sticky this topic please. We need more STICKIES.
Oh wait, I was confused. I meant more cowbell.
Less stickies. More cowbell. -
I want to contrast generic rules of thumb with college and reality.
1) Multiply your credit hours by three to calculate the time you need for classwork.
--You will be surprised how quickly you can get things done when you're against a hard deadline. If you are efficient, you can get your time to a 1:1 ratio.
2) Achieving degrees is the end-all for guaranteed employment
--Attitude is one of the biggest characteristics employers seek. They can train a poodle to do your job if they wanted to. Most companies will spend the effort to train you in any skill if they believe you are worth the effort. Degrees wind up being a foundation for your future.
3) Each subsequent degree is harder.
--Each subsequent degree is easier as it is more specialized, and focuses on the field you enjoy. If you choose to further your education after undergrad, it becomes more enjoyable.
One last piece of advice:
Stay in tune with your passions. I was in the first year of my doctorate when I realized I was getting a degree for a career I had no interest in pursuing. I was burned out and frustrated. There is nothing wrong with leaving a field because something else interests you. I certainly was talented in this field, but hating your job is a very poor way to live your life. It has been said that there are those that get a job to pay to do the things they love and that there are those that the job is the thing they love. I believe the latter will always be more rewarding. -
Quote:Any damage buffs you get prior to spawning the pet last for the duration of the pet, up to the 400% damage cap, which also includes the enhancements slotted.Slight bit of Threadomancy from me, mainly because I asked this question pre-merge and now there's a lot more Brute experts around who might help me answer it :
So does anyone know how well and how long Burn & the damage bonus from Fury work together on a Brute? -
Quote:This was redside. Was this WW or the BM? WW has been incredibly ********* the last few days. I don't know if today's server reboot/maintenance helped any.
Edit: Haha, I'm impressed that word was in the filter. Let's see... heiny-tastic.
I logged in this morning to find one of the missing recipes in my inventory. It wasn't the missing stack, but it's better than nothing.
I've noticed unusual server lag lately. While the mapserver is fine for me on infinity, the login screen and the markets have been problematic. I often have to close out the interface to get actions done on the market, and logging in takes way too much time to verify my credentials. It's annoying when I'm doing my rounds on the market.
I've learned my lesson: don't pull things off the market in rapid succession. -
Quote:I'm on infinity redside. Send a tell to either of these globals if I'm on:siggghhhhh,
i noticed this too the other day, i was on my first lvl40 vill, a corr, who i was trying to run my PPP arc for BS, tried broadcast, infinity badger channel (forget what it's called) and my coalition channel...... nothing
i was doing fine solo'ing until it switched from crey to malta, then i couldn't make it past the first spawn, stupid malta
i spent 30 minutes looking for a team to help, but no dice. hoping this isn't the same next weekend, need to get that arc done.
@Tonality
@TonalRegress
Or is it @Tonal Twilight? Oh, I don't know anymore.
Ask around infinity enough and someone is bound to know my global.
Edit: Why is TonalRegress red? Am I a redname now? When did this happen and where is my I Win Button?
Oh, and it's @Tonal Twilight
edit 2: Now @TonalRegress is not red anymore. What happened? -
I did not see the remote control before.
I feel bad for the remote. -
The animation time is only slightly slower than Havoc Punch. It's not a bad attack, especially if you're looking for AoE set bonuses. On an invuln, I bet eradication would be pretty tasty. Otherwise, there's always obliteration.
Overall, if you have a good attack chain without it, it isn't needed. But, it has its uses. -
Positron's Blast works alright in AoE immobs. If you need more rech, use the 6th slot for a recharge IO. My guess is by the time you finish with your set IOs, you won't need it, hence 5 slotting with posi (everything but dmg/range) is a good option.

Quote:Thanks for the reply. My experience with the GM team have always been positive thus far. I do however, really like that that I have the mad face again. Can you tell? The GM's will give you your money back. It will probably take about 24 hours. Make sure you make a note of the time it happened, what you were trading, which server you were on, and on which characters. All of this will help customer support.
Customer Support in this game is very dedicated and are very nice people. If, for whatever reason, you get a copy+pasted response from GM Rolland then just fire an email back and they should send you to a dedicated GM. -
Quote:I didn't give you the negative rep. But I have been wondering what your avatar is all about. Is he having problems getting into bed? Is that a connotation that he cannot get into bed with other people?Man someone gave me negative rep for my avatar. I'm so mad I'm gonna go sodomize myself with a remote control.
Actually, I'll give ya +rep for making me think. -
30 minutes later:
Come on, GMs. I want to play the game instead of waiting. ARRGH.
My theory is that there was a duplication glitch at one point with the markets. I believe the rapid removal of two slots of the same item caused the second slot to be lost. In any case:
edit: that's 30 minutes after filing the petition, not 30 minutes after whining on the forums. I had to whine in broadcast first, and then realize I just blew my niche to anyone in Cap on Infinity at 10:24 EST. At least I'm not blowing my niche on the forums.
