Finally something I agree with GG on. DC rules. The magical world of Marvel is lame. d;D
WoW is the best because it has MUCH more content more involved storylines, bugs get fixed faster and it has a much larger following as far as genres go. Everything about WoW is better, really. It has the money and it has the draw.
with that said, I don't care for high-fantasy. High-fantasy is what kept us in the dark ages. I much prefer scifi,modern-fantasy and fiction stories. -

Quote:Now that you have read my ranting and raving, I ask...
did I do the right thing?
What would you have done?
Well, I certainly wouldn't have come onto the boards and embarrass the problem person in an open forum like you have just done. Nor would I have made a public threat and possibly exacerbate the problem.
Neither would I have gathered my SG for an intervention against the individual.
That's just me. But i'm no leader of a SG with a bunch of people and I doubt anyone would be dumb enough to make me one. -
Quote:So you post a flawed definition of what inflation is...I've been noticing a lot of threads flying about on here promoting different methods of fighting in-game inflation. To set the base for this, lets define inflation in the game.
Inflation is defined as the cost of in-game goods in terms of influence / infamy as requested from other live players utilizing the auction house system.
Okay, with inflation defined, why is inflation occurring? Well, one of the simple facts behind in-game inflation is that the developers have very little direct control over the player-base's influence / infamy earning abilities. Some players can afford to farm for days or weeks on end, racking up huge amounts of influence or infamy. Some players specifically create certain archtypes and choose powers that make mass combat with no bosses quick and simple. Some players are able to get lucky with the drop system, get a rare recipe or item, and then list that item for a huge amount of money. Some players also sell items for more than the in-game influence / infamy cap... something the developers have commented on as a direct abuse of the system.
One of the big problems with many of the I have solved inflation with my solution here... such as the arguments for apartments or statues, or any so called influence-sink, is that these ideas are based on the idea that the in-game farmers care about such influence sinks. Such suggestions are based on the very flawed idea that the player base's activities are fully predictable and that all of the player base will agree to utilize one particular influence sink or another..
You proceed to tell people that their ideas of "curing" market inflation is wrong and "very flawed" following this up with your own ideas that you proclaim are flawless and would fix inflation. In-which posters have...well, i'll let the replies speak for themselves.
Then you insinuate that Freedom and Virtues population are somehow inferior and flawed.
I'm seeing a pattern you may want to address...d;D
Other than those points. I agree with a few points such as the game shouldn't be dependent on the market and that drop rates should be increased.
Never mentioned a market merger or cross-server raiding, but I don't know where you stand on that.
I have a few suggestions as well on the subject of how to combat inflation... but I don't have a big enough ego to say I can solve it. -
I'm assuming by your logic you can't possibly grief in a pvp zone, right?
The guy was there for badges, smeg wanted to pvp despite the other players desire not to engage in PvP so he attacked him.
I'm not saying smeg was in the wrong. I'm just saying that smeg caused undesired grief to that player. Griefing. -
Quote:My inner geek would love to read this interaction between Sith master and Jedi apprentice:
Star wars has a lovely four-color morality that I've started to look askew at since I've been getting older. From entertainingly contradictions like that one to the whole 'From a certain point of view' line, the Jedi aren't all -that- morally absolute in their position. There would be a lot of fridge logic about their behavior if their primary opposites weren't kicking back in a power that gives you creepy weird skin conditions and evil red underwear if Knights of the Old Republic is to be believed. Maybe that gives strength to the 'Good/Evil defined by narrative' theory.
Those are awful, awful clowns. I like your signature, though.
Sith Master: "You either embrace power or deny it, young jedi."
jedi apprentice: "Only Siths speak in absolutes!"
Sith master: with a smile "Then you are well on your way to true wisdom, young jedi."

Could you discuss pvp please? You made a lot of promises with the i13 "upgrade" yet there has been complete silence on the topic since.
Good one.
I'm glad i'm not going to PAX, I'd be throwing shoes. :P
My question would have to be: "Why do you let your bias for heroes affect game content and mechanics?"
Also: "Is there any new content for villains forth coming that ISN'T also hero content? and why has it taken this long?"
Though the answer to my first question will probably be enough to answer my second. -
Quote:Yes, matter of fact Paragon studios new motto is "Give us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses longing to be fleeced..."
They deserve worse if they think they have the right to berate those that are low on cash.
I've also been told paragon studios new marketing campaign involves the drowning of a million puppies and that War Witch lives in a cabin in the woods and eats small children...
/sarcasm
come on, seriously...take a breather.
With that said, I am a bit disappointed that both sets weren't given to us as an option. But I understand there may be costume pieces or other goodies in one for GR that the devs aren't ready to release.m Plus, it makes business sense.
And this is precisely why I don't purchase my coffee from starbucks. 15 bucks for 2 cups of coffee IS ridiculous. -
Quote:Don't be ridiculous...of course you're a jerk. Of course you were griefing.
So do you think I'm a jerk for PvPing in a PvP zones and not letting this guy get his badges, or just playing the game the way it was designed to be played? Should we have let them cake walk through it or do what we did and made them work for the badge?
But he/she was in a PvP zone so you were completely in the right to do so. -

Quote:Relevant to both the upcoming Going Rogue and the Hero/Villain relationship in City of Heroes, I ask you the subject line: Is Evil defined by action, intent, both or neither?
Let me use the example I used when I brought this up in Comic Culture well over a year ago... Meet Team Dark:
(From Left to Right: Shadow, Rouge, and E-123 Omega)
Taken from Sonic Heroes, Team Dark has always fascinated me. Sonic Heroes is about 4 teams, each with their own agenda, playing a hand in saving the world. What intrigues me about this team, however, is their behavior and motivation. They are as follows:- Rouge: Dr. Robotnik is rich. Steal everything you can, manipulate everyone into helping.
- E-123 Omega: Dr. Robotnik offended me by saying I'm obsolete. I want to destroy virtually everything he owns out of spite.
- Shadow: Can't remember my past Rouge says if I help her rob this Robotnik fellow blind, she'll help me find my memories.
- Team Dark: Destroy Dr. Robotnik.
Those motivations don't seem very noble, do they? Rob, destroy, and "do whatever it takes to get what I want". Yet, in the story of the game, the level of destruction that they cause and the Chaos Emeralds Rouge steals are absolutely vital to weakening Robotnik's army enough to save the day. Also, they don't cause any standing damage to anything "Heroic" like a bystanding city or civilians (After all, their quarrel isn't with them).
So, for selfish, violent, and greedy reasons, they play a key role in saving the world.
Are they heroes or villains?
Is "Hero" defined by the intention of your action or its result? If it's result, Team Dark is one of the greatest hero teams in Sonic Lore. If it's intent, they need to be locked up alongside the Eggman.
Discuss.
Their motives are based on self-interest so they are neither good nor evil. They are anti-heroes.
Whether you believe acting out of self-interest is moral or ethical is another argument.
I don't like the terms good or evil, personally. -

Quote:Those of us who would have any respect for the English vernacular; tend to avoid RP. :P... except that nobody seems to be able to use it correctly. This is something that I've noticed popping up in the RP community as a whole, both in World of Warcraft and now here. Someone who is RPing will use the word "would" in a way that makes absolutely no friggin' sense. For example:
Captain Extraneous Character would settle his ruggedly handsome frame into the seat with a satisfied yet grim look on his handsomely rugged features. "I believe I have taken care of the problem which Arachnos poses to us ... for now."
Whenever someone writes something like this, I have to restrain the snarky side of me from chipping in with something along the lines of "but he actually doesn't, because ... what?"
The word "would," when properly used, indicates either a habitual action:
"On Tuesdays, his uncle would take him to get ice cream at the store on the corner."
or something that might happen if a particular condition was met which either isn't or is uncertain:
"He would have taken his nephew to get ice cream that Tuesday, if it wasn't raining."
"He would take his nephew to get ice cream on Tuesdays when it wasn't too hot out."
or to put it another way:
"I would be able to tolerate the way some people choose to RP if they had a proper understanding of how grammar works, but they don't, so I am driven to the edges of frothing insanity on a regular basis."
Anyway, I'm posting this to ask: where is this coming from?! What maniac started this trend? -
Quote:If you consider a few hundred mill "plenty rich" I'd like to know what you consider rich to be. Humor me, I just woke up and need something to laugh at.Didn't mean to step on any toes, Bill, but I would qualify a few hundred million as being plenty "rich" enough to manage about 85% of what the game offers, even fancy IO sets. I frankenslotted IO'd my old villainous main completely out the wazoo for less than 50 million.
If you want to achieve that last 15% of the game shenanigans, you're expected to expend at least a little effort. At least, I do. -
Quote:Syndyr, I for once agree with Fury despite her troubled past of being wrong 99.9% of the time. Kidding <3 u! q:PSyndyr, you're a nice person in game, but this is a bad suggestion. If you need help in making influence, I'm happy to give you a few pointers. I even got KiTTY to the influence cap.
Syndyr, you're gorgeous, we love you. But this is a bad idea.
If you need any Infamy redside or tips on how to make money off the market let us know. -

Our interests are so much alike. No wonder we don't get along.
You are the head of one of the largest VGs and Coalitions in the game. No, you are not a social pariah, being an ******* is just part of your manly essence.
Denis Leary sums it up best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JoKJsjtLxw

I host 24-28 minute speed runs. I'm not any good at community outreach. Unless it's to grab unsuspecting forumites that wander over my bridge. d;D
You have much more access to the community through your coalition and channels.
it's better when social pariahs don't host these events. -
