I think what Je_Saist meant to say was; "Marketing CoV as a stand-alone was a huge mistake." Most would agree with this statement. CoV Never should have been treated as a stand-alone, we wouldn't be having these problems with CoV content if they designed the content so that you could complete it two ways... as a villain or a hero. And then branch out to more heroic and villainous content from there.

I find it humorous how cryptic manages to make the same mistake twice.

Hopefully Paragon Studios has learned from their experiences and this will change come CoH2.

My statements weren't made on a platform of fear but of sober skepticism. i'm a base builder. If i'm not marketing i'm spending 2 hours or more planing out my base setup and design, implementing new things in my base, etc. I Mostly come onto the base building boards to get ideas and there are some FanTAStIC bases out there.

    Look at the track record. i13 PvP, AE, market UI, Hamidon Green mitos, Base Raiding;

Consistently when players have asked for the devs to "Improve" or "fix" something of the game they enjoy the players wind up with far less than what they began with or something that's completely broken.

However, villains didn't get a new SF, they merely got Silver Mantis moved out to the zones and it wasn't that hard to find someone with a Mission Computer before this. My worry is that blueside will start getting improvements while the already unpopular redside will continue to lag behind in content.

Now, I'm not ignoring the new clone arcs. They were well done and I think the one for villains was better than the one for heroes. However, it still leaves villains with a lesser amount of content in the end.

I guess my question would be, is my thinking unjustified? Am I letting it bug me when it really shouldn't? Or do others feel like this?
Yes, it should bug you if you enjoy City of Villains. Unfortunately the devs are of the mind that since CoH has a much greater player density than CoV, it makes business sense to neglect CoV for updateing and adding new CoH content.

As has been stated before it's not that the Devs "Hate Villains" it's that they don't have enough incentive to care.

Some speculate this lack of content will change come GR when side-switching is allowed and new coop content is added. But I'm not the type of person that smells ******** and calls it roses.

    we'll see.

Any of you show up to a Con where Devs were present and try to talk about these things? HeroCon, PAX? Anything?. Sending PMs and missives and creating reams of threads pointing to other threads doesn't seem to be working. Any of you trying to communicate in person?

Base Builders aren't the most ignored/abused/whatever you want to call it group in the game. Ask a PvPer how they feel about the attention they got recently. I'm sure they'd gladly change positions with you. Ask the people who use the Architect regularly and have to make change after change to their arcs due to exploit fixes and other things. I'm sure they'd love to be ignored rather than have to constantly be editing arcs to keep them playable. Careful what you wish for.

That being said, keep calling attention to what would be good for the Base Building community (and even better, for those who might wish to join that group, but are put off by the learning curve), but keep the demands and the entitled attitude to a minimum. You might get further with the Devs that way.
PvP got the attention PvPers were begging for and they got i13. AE got the attention many designers have asked for and they recieved nerfs to awards and limitations to their design capabilities.

I don't think the question the Base Builders should be asking is "Do the Devs care about us." I think the question base builders should be asking is "Do we really want the Devs attention?"

Please don't touch my bases Devs. it's one of the few things I still enjoy in this game.

Go Grav/TA take flight and Teleport. Slot for range and recharge.

You will be hated. This is good.
  7. I have 2 IO tables filled with high-end purple crafted IOs and PvP IOs. I have 5 toons on virtue and each has about 3bil on them and at least a billion invested in the markets.

I'm not sure how much I'm worth and quite frankly I don't care.

My measure of ebil isn't how much I'm worth but how much high-end in game loot I get to delete once I finally decide to leave.

I have a Mind/Energy dom called Ms. Foxglove. Her costume is fox ears and a tail (Like cat-woman or Squirrel Girl) you can have a tail and NOT be a furry.

    This is a furry:

    Creepy, no?

Oh, I would love a fat-slider with the mutant pack.

But not on my kins, it's not like SB will save anyone's life in 2 seconds.
    ^^This.

Don't chase people to SB them. Designate a point-man (Usually a scrapper, tank, brute) if the teammate isn't following that point-man they don't get SBed.

It's more really that I want to be blasting things then buffing endlessly. I would still bring to team everything else Kin has to offer.

The question actually came up when I showed my wife my toons build. She has an Earth/Kin troller at 50 and was surprised to see it in my final build. She said I'd hate buffing the team. Granted I solo'd a lot and lvl'd on smaller teams on his road to 50. Things are less intense on paper missions as opposed to SF/TFs.

It wouldn't hurt my build to leave it in honestly, I was just curious the general consensus.
    Hi Gypsy,

This is the way I see it. If you plan on teaming often, take SB, people will five star you if you keep them buffed and invite you to the next TF tthey run and they'll tell their friends how much a great asset to a team you are.

To be perfectly honest if I were a team leader and I invited you on a "team" as a kin I'd expect you to have SB. If you didn't take SB I would most likely one star you and pass you up for another kin with SB the next time I make a team.

This is a huge (5Mb) image I put together from all of my characters' recipe and vault screens.

Bear in mind, this assorted mountain of shiny things has been accumulated by one player. On one account. On one server. I sell most of the things I get, but if the price is over a certain arbitrary amount and it looks like something I could use in the future, it gets classed as 'too shiny to sell' and kept.

Of course, this all falls down on the minor fact that I find the number crunching and faffing around to get a fully IO'd build to be so tedious that I tend not to bother... (OK, so I'm an idiot, sue me :P )

I think the cautious attitude regarding hoarding may well be fully justified, at least regarding my behaviour.

    What about you lot?
If the Devs have a cautious attitude regarding hoarding they have a backasswards way of showing it with i17...

But then the backasswards approach seems to be what the devs do best...PvP, Market UI...AE exploitation...AE rewards...

I would LOVE squirrel and Fox tails or simply a generic fluffy long tail model with seperate templates (Stripe, alternating color between trunk and tip of tail, none). I would also like the option to have these as animated and non-animated.

oh, face tenticles for the cthulhu inspired concepts and mutant aura's and new skins.
