  1. So after being in the game for over 5 years now, I was thinking what we could really use is maybe a revamp of sorts to the power pools. When they changed over Fitness, it had people respecing their toons to take advantage of it. Then when they changed the requirements for the travel powers, everyone again reevaluated their builds looking to see how they could improve their current ones. So I think that if the pools were redone, weak powers changed and new powers added and the whole thing uniformed so all the pools had 3 no requirements, 1 one requirement, and 1 two power requirement, that it would add more interest in the game yet again. After thinking about it for a few days, here are my suggestions:

    Power Pool Reboot v 1.0

    Presence Pool
Idolized: (Auto) You gain 20% more INF from mission completes.
Charismatic: (Auto) Merchant cost and auction house listing fees are 10% cheaper.
Show Off: (Auto) Your end of missions XP gains are 5% higher.
Intimidating: (Toggle) Enemies within 10 feet receive a minor (-3%) ToHit debuff.
Display Power: (Click) Cause mag 3 fear (6 seconds) to all enemies in 10 foot radius

    Teleport Pool
    Recall Friend (Same)
    Teleport Foe (Same)
    Short Range Teleport (Same)
Long Range Teleport: (Click) Teleports you to a waypoint selected on your map. If the area is unreachable (Wall for example) you will not teleport anywhere. 1 Pool requirement.
Area Teleport: Change the power so that it can cross zones from hero to villain and vice versa for Vigilantes and rogues. 2 Power pool picks.

    Flight Pool
Air Superiority: Add “This power deals out increased damage if the target is flying/ hovering”
    Flight (Same)
    Hover: (Same)
Aerial Specialist: Auto power that gives +acc (Equal to the penalty of flight gives) and a + defense equal to that of hover while hover or flight is active.
    Afterburner: (Same)

    Fighting Power pool
    Boxing (Same but increase damage)
Kick (Same but better animation and increased damage)
    Tough: No requirement.
Weave: Drop to one pool requirement.
Exploit weakness: Your melee attacks cause 3% more damage. 2 power pick requirement

    Super Speed
Flurry: Add causes mag 2 stun
    Hasten (Same)
    Super Speed (Same)
Whirlwind: While active, all your other powers are suppressed . You cannot be harmed for duration and causes knockback. After 60 seconds, power detoggles. 1 Power pick requirement.
    Burnout: (Same)

    Leaping
    Jump Kick: Add causes knockdown.
    Combat Jumping: (Same)
    Super Jump (Same)
Acrobatics: Reduce requirement to only one power pool pick.
    Spring Attack: (same)

    Medicine
    Stimulant: Add a Recovery buff.
    Aid Other: (Same)
Aid Self: Make no power pool requirement
Recover Self: Provides 25% end. Has a 1 min recharge and is Interruptible. 1 power poll requirement
    Revive (Same)

    Leadership
    Assault (Same)
    Maneuvers (Same)
Reinforce: Adds 5% to smashing/ lethal resistances
    Tactics (Same)
    Vengeance (Same)

    Concealment
    Stealth (Same)
    Invisible Other (Same)
Invisible Self (Same but remove power pool pick)
Improved invisibility: Similar to the Illusion power of the same name except has increased end cost and requires one pool pick.
    Phase self: Reduce activation time.
  2. Yeah, our play styles differ I'm sure. I worked on my build more and took some of your advice. You were right about the melee, I misread it. So that would make Clarion a more obvious choice. I still like intuition better than musculature so I'll probably stick with that. I prefer to solo over teaming so the holds and slows help when facing off against bosses. Yes, the defense helps and I can't disagree there but I like layering the holds and slows so they are weakened at the same time. Anyway, V 2.0

    • -PB/PBU: Not sure what those are. I assume HIB would be HOB which would be hail of bullets.

    • -Disagree here on acro as I exempt alot playing various TFs/ Story Arcs etc... I might do that with a second build later on down the road. Wouldn't the Hybrid be better anyway as it offers a perma protect as opposed to having to keep clicking it?

    • -Noted. Hence why I though melee core hybrid would be useful. It's perma in that area of protection so I wouldn't have to keep track of what to click when or not being in the wrong place when that 30 sec gap comes up. However I didn't notice the +def on it so maybe I would take that over Barrier.

    • ....
    • -I like intuition better as it gives damage/ holds/ and slow buffs. Which can apply to a wider range of my powers as opposed to just damage. So I want to build with that alpha in mind.

No thanks, just looking for ideas for my own build. Never had much success in coping builds as they never play well for me. Thank you for your opinions though.

    Edit: Just to compare Alpha's

Musculature does: Damage, Immobile, End Mod, Defense Debuffs and Run for 33% and ToHit Debuffs for 20%

Intuition does: Hold, Damage, Slow, and Defense Debuffs by 33% and ToHit Debuffs and Range by 20%.

So the trade off is really Immobile, End Mod, and Run VS. Hold, Slow, and Range.... Hence my preference.
  4. Hi all. I'm beginning to IO out my Dual Pistol/ Time build and I think I got a good set up but figured I'd post it to see if there are any improvements that anyone can see that I might have missed. It's soft capped for ranged and AOE and has 30% Melee which I think with the Debuffs from Time Juncture would make it soft capped melee as well or close to it. opinions?

    -1 Server Transfer Token
    -1 Character Rename Token
    -1 Alignment Change Token
    -1 Character Respec Token
    -10 Super Packs
    -500 Paragon Points**

**Specifically less than the 800 the above would cost as conversion into Paragon Points is significantly more flexible. Furthermore, stocking up these tokens and being able to swap them for more than 600 paragon points would allow some "abuse" of stored tokens when any of these services go on sale for 600pp. 500, IMO, seems a reasonable markdown for having full "point" flexibility.
    /signed as well

Seriously, the free server transfer tokens are more targeted to an audience that likes to play on different servers. Some of us though NEVER go to another server. Hell, I have bought up all 4 pages worth of slots on Freedom and will buy more if more pages ever become available. If I ever were to spend a token, it would be to transfer a character and transfer back just to change it's name.

For me, free server tokens just suck. Period.

  7. No kidding right? It's kinda like reading a book until it gets to the turning point and you're like "How is it going to end?" just to have someone tell you and ruin reading how it turns out. I mean really? Did this have to be posted? Why not just say the phalanx breaks over a death of their own or something to that effect?

    Catalyst 11.9

What driver sweeper do you guys use? Would prefer something recommended over something just picked out.
  9. Just throwing it out there:

Clockwork 01 Has posted in another thread that SJ has NOT been altered at all since it was pulled in late August:

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...86#post3919186

With that being the case, there is no bait and switch. Maybe you just think it was better.
  10. Now I not sure if I'd want to drop empty clips as it can take the -resist debuff proc. (which one person told me was really good) Same with Pistols (Although Pistols is single target) Which I would think would help with damage and could stack with /Time's -resist powers.

Would you still keep Bullet Rain even without the purple proc in in? Cause I have no plans on using purple IOs on this character.
  11. Been working on my Dual Pistols / Time and trying to decide what power is the most skippable for Dual Pistols (If any). I thought Suppressive Fire but I found that I like the dual stacking Holds with Time Stop. I'm now inclined to drop Bullet Rain as it does less than 100 points of damage per target at level 50. Any opinions?
  12. Played on the Radeon 5770 HD on 11.5.

Experienced slow down lag however no crashes.

On the 11.7 driver, lag is gone but it has crashes. 5 in about as many days. (30 some hrs of gameplay)
  13. How many are there in total Noble?
  14. It says driver version 8.850.

Not sure if that's the problem or not but I rolled it back so we'll see.
  15. (Note: Hyjack this would not allow me to run as Administrator. I have no idea why but the option is greyed out and I can change the option with any other program but this one. Not sure why or if it affects anything.)

  16. Recently about a week or so ago, CoH started acting funny. It would hit these small lag spikes where everything would slow down and after about 2-5 minutes, it would fix itself. I checked my drivers, found they were out of date, and downloaded the new ones.

Now the lag doesn't happen but the game hits points where it just freezes and never comes back. One time was right after I went to the hospital during a trial, another was just as I entered an empty WW, and this last time was right when we were about to attack Maurader in a trial. After it does so, I close the proram and another image of CoH appears for a second underneath of a previous moment that I had just had in game and then completely dies.

    Here is the reports:

Then they released Incarnates, which you could only access buy owning Going Rouge.
So would you say that you bought access to the incarnates by buying going rogue? Similar to getting access to Praetoria, tip missions, and 1-20 Praetoria arc? Why are we losing that access?

I actually asked Zwillinger in-game about this, more so about AE edition as I currently have one physical copy of it, one digital copy, and a digital copy I have used. If I use AE edition on a second toon come freedom, it will not have access to AE when he is down at premium level. I assume this will be the case for Going Rogue=>Access to Incarnates aswell when FREEdom hits.
Ok, remind me: When the AE edition of City of Heroes come out, was it stated ANYWHERE that if one did not purchase a copy of the AE edition of City of Heroes that they would not get access to AE or any of it's features?

Cause if so, then my account is bugged as I did not buy a copy yet have been playing AE all along.

OR is my friend's account buggy cause he did not purchase GR and does not have access to Incarnates.

Point is they said "If you buy this, you would have this." Now it's "We're changing the rules to improve our income so that offer from before is no longer valid. It's now this. Take it or leave it."

Not trying to flame or anything but you can only compare apples to apples. Not to sour grapes. AE edition is not the same as GR in any respect.

I currently pay for 2 accounts. My own and my brother who is going through hard times. Been doing it for a few months now and if the option was there that I could stop while he was able to keep playing, I'd take it. Freedom has opened that door. However, we like doing lvl 50+ stuff and if Incarnate stuff was kept away from those who bought GR for that reason, we would have to stop or I'd have to keep paying. So, Yes, on one of the accounts I'm paying for I was going to let lapse to Premium status.

Honestly, we both bought GR for the incarnate stuff. We didn't care about the new starter zone or the side switching (both are nice but could have done without) but to do more with the toons we already made. So what did spending $80 on two copies of GR get us? If we go F2P we get 2 extra slots and if we don't then what? Nothing? What did the GR purchasers get to keep that is not being given out to the F2P audience?

That is simply a bad decision in my book and makes our GR purchase totally not worth it. Especially since only a few months later it it all becomes free to subscribers. I remember a time when it was "Those who did not buy GR would not have access to incarnate stuff". Now it's "It doesn't matter if you bought GR or not. As long as you are a subscriber, you get access to incarnate stuff"
  20. Kudos guys!

I accomplished that a little over a year ago and I know how hard it can be. Especially when you get down to those last ATs and you realize why you never built them..... heh.

Anyway, some of my memories include:

-Wanting to play this game before I even had internet and getting internet just so I could play this game. (I joined right after issue 7 was released)

-Making my first toon a Katana/ SR scrapper and joining a sewer team for the first time. Since it was my first MMO I got stuck and basically was broadcasting in the sewers "How do you get out of here?" While trying not to die. (Which is inevitably how I got out)

-Hitting lvl 50 for the first time and taking a screen shot of it. I still have the screen shot accompanied by a few more as I try to catch one every time I hit 50 on a character.

-Badge Hunting and spending 3 MONTHS leaving my toon in RV just to kill that ONE outcast every hour until I got the isolator badge. Used to joke "Everytime an outcast in RV is killed, a little bell goes off in the Dev's offices and they snicker in sadistic glee."

-The ups and downs of each AT. I found that though I liked the melee classes, stalkers were simply too blacklisted from teams to enjoy. Peacebringers need Lots of love from the Devs. And the one I haed the absolute most to play were Dominators. While I liked controllers, Dominators had too many click powers for my tastes.

-Finally my first regular play group. There were four of us at that time. The team basically was 2 scrappers, an emp defender, and a FF defender. Needless to say it was a very good team. Unfortunately they all moved on since then.

So anyway.... My list of 50s in no real particular order:
(* are still played often toons)

    Heroes:
TigerKnight - *Scrapper Katana/ Super Reflexes
Tiger Knight - (Remake) *Scrapper Dual Swords/ Super Reflexes
Leonin Pride - *Scrapper Claws/ Willpower
Vixen Foxfire - *Scrapper Martial Arts/ Fire Aura
Aegis Avenger - *Scrapper Electric Melee/ Shield
Sgt. Kevlar - Tank Invulnerability/ Super Strength
Shadow Gorger - *Tank Willpower/ Dark Melee
Eternal Esper - *Blaster Archery/ Mental Manipulation
Kelvyn Helsing - Blaster Energy/ Energy Manipulation
Detective Brimstone - Blaster Fire/ Energy Manipulation
    Daystorm - Peacebringer
    Dark-Dweller - Warshade
    Breathtaking - *Defender Kinetics/ Electric
New Age Angel - *Defender Empathy/ Sonic
Nayla Nocturn - Controller Illusions/ Force Field
Freedom Forged - Controller Fire/ Kin
Misty Hannon - Controller Earth/ Rad
    Doctor Illuminatus - Illusion/ Empathy
    Time-Zone - Corruptor Dual Pistols/ Kinetics

    Villians:
Cool Emissions - Corruptor Rad/ Kinetics
    Evil-ution - *Mastermind Robotics/ Traps
    Arachnosassin - *Solider of Arachnos
    Arbiter Eros - *Fortunata
Hivemind Project - Dominator Mind/ Thorns
Mister Graves - *Brute War Mace/ Stone
Burning Pride - Brute Fire Melee/ Fire Armor
Stormforger - Electric Melee/ Super Reflexes
    Sk'ar - Stalker Energy Melee/ Willpower
Little Plaything - *Tank Ice Armor/ Ice Melee

29 level 50 toons...... 1421 dings in all
  21. I have to vote in on the whole losing Incarnate powers if you go premium. Some people like myself bought GR for those incarnate powers period. To strip us completely of them after telling us those who bought GR would have access to them is simply a bad decision.

I agree on if we were allowed to keep the alpha slot, the ability to access the alpha slot on new characters, and access to Tin Mage and Apex would be a fair compromise.
  22. The one that was to give us the Vanguard pack, Chest Emblem, Badge, and emote. Did that end on the 18th as stated because I didn't get this stuff on either of my accounts and they have been active all year long. Any news on this?
  23. TigerKnight

    NEW Mid's Update

Tried to download the new version of Mid's and I can't get it to work. It says "There was a problem opening the file for writing and then starts to list like 20 some files. I am running as Administrator in XP. I uninstalled the previous one and still the the same reply.

If I try to run the program I get: Huh...

Enhancement database file isn't how it should be (Exception of type 'system.outofmemoryexception' was thrown.) No enhancements have been loaded.
  24. Update:

So after my Numina problem hit, I logged back in to tell the group I could no longer continue and explained my problems and they were cool with letting me stay and asked me some questions about what I have tried and what I didn't. Finally one of them said that if the ping was in the 2000 mark, it was likely an ISP or Modem problem.

So I called Comcast which told me that everything was perfect. They saw nothing wrong on their end. I asked to do the reset anyway just because it was the only thing I hadn't tried yet. They reset the box and everything was working normally. I fell confident because I ran:

An ITF on performance and I had minor lag but completely playable. (Other players were mentioning they had lag too so I think it was a map problem or something)

Turned up the graphic back to how I had them previously and ran another Numina. Totally perfect... then Positron 1 + 2 and both were again perfect.

Thank you all for your suggestions and help. That is exactly why I play CoH. The fantastic community that is impossible to find anywhere else.

    -TK
  25. OK, I turned off my chat log, moved my ambient occlusion to off AND set my graphics to Minimum.

In so far as the start up programs, again, not sure what to remove but in the task manager it only had CoH and idle system process running with any cpu usage and the usage was at 6-10%.

So I logged in, joined a Numina with ONLY 4 other people. We hit a mob and it went berserk! worse than before as now the team kept disappearing in and out of the mission. My ping skyrocket and it was a huge red bar all the way across my screen. On top of that the game crashed after a minute of it.

As for MSE, I never got it. I did a search for it just in case I missed it and nothing turned up. It's not on my machine.

So.... any other ideas? This is getting really frustrating.
