I recently picked up a new computer, but I can't find my CoH install CD. (Hey, it's been five years.) I seem to recall reading posts about either downloading the client, or copying it from the old computer to the new. Unfortunately, even on the new boards, I can't find anything with the search function.
So, which method would you recommend? If download, where do I get it? If copy, what do I need to copy from my old computer? -
Atlas Park has more stuff, because there are more players in Atlas Park.

So, I was doing a mission against Arachnos the other day, blasting away at a Tarantula Mistress. I finish her off, and she blew up. A little voice in the back of my head goes, "Wait, wasn't there at least part of a person in there somewhere? Eww..."
Shortly after, I ran into another Tarantula Mistress. Only, when I finished this one off, she didn't explode, she just collapsed.
Which got me wondering: What determines if a mechanical mob explodes when it's defeated? Is it random? Damage above and beyond what's required to defeat them? Something else? -
Put me with the "something wonky" crowd. I confirmed my address is correct, and that the checkbox is checked. I've got a filter in my email, so anything with "ncsoft.com" (or several other CoX related domains) in the From field goes straight to a specific CoX folder. And, while I got some newsletters, I apparently don't get all of them. (I got an Issue 14 announcement, and the Introducing Paragon Studios newsletter, but nothing for Going Rogue.)
In case it's significant, I use a Yahoo Mail account (though not a yahoo.com address). -
I searched for this one and couldn't find it. I apologize if it's a known bug.
When you make a costume with a jacket or trenchcoat for a huge model, and go into the Chest Detail, the first field, instead of listing "Over" and "Under" options like it should, has four options listed:
Over
Under
under
Under
The first "Under" appears to list everything except the Vet Reward emblems. The last "Under" lists only the 30-month Vet Reward emblems (Arachnos, PPD, Vanguard, etc.)
The lower case "under" option lists the Greek letter insignias. However, if you select one, it doesn't show up on the costume, it just stays blank. -

Great, now I'm picturing Wolverine as a Pokemon... -
My two favorite aspects of the game, PvE gameplay and powersets, aren't listed. Of the options that are listed, three of them are pretty much neck-and-neck: costumes, storyline, and specific mob groups (for me, Freakshow).
I ended up voting for the storylines. Costume customization, while very cool, is ultimtely window dressing. While I like the Freakshow, they are, overall, a fairly small portion of the game. And, while the storylines aren't always as up-front and well-developed as I'd like, when they are good, they're truly impressive, and can have quite a bit of impact. -
I've gotta wonder, is the mention of "the bogus NSAs Suppressed Transmissions Office" a reference to Ken Hite's "Suppressed Transmission" column in Pyramid? He certainly covers conspiracy theories in his column, but they usually tend more toward high weirdness than the simple Cold-War-gone-awry that Malta seems to be. Which makes me wonder if there isn't something even deeper going on...

Manticore funded *and* founded Wyvern. The rest of the Phalanx are not aware of that however.

They're not? A bunch of crime-fighting archers, named after a mythological beast, and they didn't immediately make that connection? My villain is smarter than the entire Phalanx put together?
Excellent... -
21/21, plus a few "that's not quite right" nitpicks.
And I, for one, am at peace with my geek-ness. -

I think the genre (and the great game) attracts many of us who want some online gaming experiences, but need it to be flexible enough that we can solo at will (instead of standing around trying to form a team for 10 minutes).

Hey, the game attracted me, and I wasn't looking for any sort of online gaming experience. I just wanted a good superhero RPG, and CoH works for me. Frankly, I'm here despite the online presence, not because of it.
(Yeah, I've tried Freedom Force, but I really didn't care for it.)
I figure, there's already plenty of stuff built in to encourage teaming. Task forces and trials are only available to teams. Hazard zones are designed to be handled by teams. That's a lot of stuff that's unavailable or unappealing to casual solos like me.
Missions and street sweeping are the only things to solo in the game. And I find street sweeping to be extremely boring, with or without a group. Which leaves me with missions (which are my favorite part of the game anyway). But they're becoming increasingly group-oriented, too. When I hit level 29, only two missions being offered to me were anything other than hazard zone hunts. One of those was hunting Sky Raiders, who only occur naturally in hazard zones. The other was a "simultaneous glowies" mission, which required two teammates. So, I could either deal with the frustrations of teaming (and I usually find it more frustrating than fun), or bore myself by street sweeping.
The game is already leaning heavily toward grouping. I don't expect to be able to solo everything, but it's getting to the point where fun soloing opportunities are rapidly disappearing. -
