Quote:I am not opposed to a 'start from scratch' overhaul of the base system, lord knows it needs it.
But after the hundreds of hours I have spent creating the base I want, I would expect any new system that forces me to lose all that work and start over to be exceedingly good.
That being said, there is nothing that has happened in the development of this game that gives me the confidence that the developers are capable of this.
They aren't even capable of changing simple numbers to make minor but useful changes to the existing system, and hence I have absolutely no faith that they would be capable of a mass overhaul that would be worthy of scrapping everything we designers have already cobbled together.
Like before, I will go on not holding my breath.
There's nothing to suggest the devs aren't capable of doing it, OF COURSE they're capable of doing it, heck, we got power customization, MA etc. 4 years ago they where adamant that it couldn't be done, but it was done none-the-less.
The reason why bases haven't gotton the attention they need is because we are but a tiny fraction of the community, smaller than PvP. Thinking from a developer standpoint, when you have a choice between introducing a new system which will directly affect every level 50 player with Going Rogue, as opposed to redesigning an existing system in which a fraction of the playerbase will every be able to use directly, it's quite obvious what they're going to choose.
The developers have to get the priorities right (which they have) or risk sinking the game into the mud. As much as i love bases, it's these incarnates that have kept my subscription going and i probably would have left the game out of boredom a long time ago otherwise.
Simple bugfixes would be great for both parties yes, but we still don't know just how broke the system is in the backend either. If history is anyhting to go by, most fixes has usually resulted in further patches to fix the problems caused by the last fix, and so the vicious cycle continues. -
ahh well that goes to prove how nonexistent my searching abilities are lol
-
Hey, just a couple of times i've noticed when logging in that a few of my toons are "grayed" out because they use Going Rogue powersets and requests me to purchase the Going Rogue expansion which of course i already have. The issue usually clear itself up if i relog back in and i'll get access back to those toons.

I would see it as being a fairly decent combo, especially since most of the pets are melee oriented, the litch's -acc will stack nicely against the seeker drones and FFG's defense, the beauty of traps is that they tend to go with anything
-
I dunno how many runs i've done with my ill/rad so far.. lol

I'm so lucky i live in South Australia but hey, us aussies are tough nuts, some guys I know up there spent their time riding out the storm in place none other than the pub! they helped board up the place so they got drinks on the house! That's how we roll!
I dare say next year it's our turn to cop mother nature tho, now that the Murray river is flowing at absolute max capacity, another rain event, even if enough of the remnants of Yasi reach us, it could flood... Ahh well, better find a pub to start sandbagging -
My toon's backstory is that she was born to parents in which the mother was fond of dark magic, aka. being able to summon and control demons. Her father was a skilled mechanist who has invented a variety of technological gadgets to bring down foes. They split apart soon after her birth, so she started living with her mother, before later moving to her father. Ergo, she now has demon summoning and traps!

i know, i logged onto my ice/erg blaster, my knockback is nothing unlike what it was... if we can't bring back those vids bring back those KB buffs! :P
-
Hey does anyone know what happened to MoltenSlowa's Rocketman videos? just that time when i want to show a friend the good old days of COH and how much knockback you could get, they've completely vanished off of youtube...
makes me with the vanguard medal and Power boost still granted knockback, at least in PvE -
well it is Tuesday.. well actually it's wednesday now for us Aussies :P
-
Dammit i'm not going to be able to go to bed until at least an hours time...
-
yeah. 25mb, i wonder...
-
It can't be the Animal Pack since test hasn't even seen that yet, and i don't think live will ever get something ahead of the test server. Since Strike Targets are announced on Tuesday, the same day we get a publish, Strike Pack today is definitely plausible.
Devs, when you said early Feb you weren't messing around :P -
I'm thinking the same thing, but then it wouldn't be a "publish", it would just be regular maintenance. maybe they're stealth-fixing the force field gen bug for masterminds.. oh please i hope they don't =/
-
i am the proud owner of a lvl 50 demon/traps. They're actually much better than what people make them out to be, especially once you get some sets in. I think yeah it's probably the thematics of both being completely different, still, it didn't stop me from making a backstory.

The problem with masterminds is that even with the command system we have currently, the commands are still riddled with bugs, especially stay. The key to teaming with masterminds is to keep your pets out of the AoE patch as best as possible. or at least repeatedly spam the follow macro until such a time that all your debuffs are in place, then attack, only letting your pets go once your debuffs are down. you only need one foe to just attempt to attack you or your pets before your pets begin retaliating, hopefully by doing that they would have avoided the first big batch of AoE attacks.
Also remember that having your pets in bg mode and getting most of the damage to go through you is far better than letting your pets handle the damage directly. all my masterminds take the prescence pool and when i can eventually afford the money, i will slot them to get good solid defense.
If you have the money lying around at the moment you should consider purchasing some of the pet resist and defense aura IOs, they will help immensely especially in teams. -
excactly, it's been mentioned so many damn times already that I20 will bring new ways to get these besides having to wait 4 weeks to get that ultra rare. Even then, I20 is probably only 8-10 weeks off, if that. good marketing would suggest once 4 weeks has lapsed and people are starting to slot in ultra rares the detailed info for I20 would be posted up. Either way, we won't be waiting long for long...

When you slot procs into your pets the only time it will fire off is when the pet uses the attack the proc could be slotted into if it where your own power. So Your induced coma proc will only fire off when the demon prince uses any power that has a chance to sleep your opponent, in which the demon only has one. I would probably advise against the use of it, you already have -rech and you'll probably find the proc won't fire off very often. If you really do want the -rech, like prae said, the one from Pacing of the Turtle will have a vastly greater chance to fire off.
Onto your build now, all the pet resist/defense auras are better off all going into Hell on Earth, don't worry about slotting HoE for accuracy, recharge maybe, but it's not required.
Secondly, your soul storm does not need that Acc IO, your accuracy set bonuses will be more than enough to capp your tohit even going against +4s
In your pet summons i would recommend trying to slot for more defense, you can rack up quite a bit of handy defense in full sets of blood mandate. Also reslot fearsome stare for -ToHit, the tohit component is what really makes this power shine rather than the fear. A full set of Siphon Insight will give you good defense bonuses as well.
Finally i would also consider putting another slot or two in shadow fall to maximize the defense component. Perhaps split your LoTG set in your Maneuvers and putting half in shadow fall will give you a greater defense bonus overall. Also, Tactics would be better 3 slotted with Guassian or just one slotted with endo.
Those are the changes i would have if i was playing a demon/dark, defense on a mastermind goes a long way, especially with /dark, you're survivability will be rekoned. -
servers are back up, no rares or ultra rares, you can all go back to sleep/work now

Quote:>why not edit my maps?
Wouldn't we all like to have a bit more choice than "front, middle, back, any". Maybe make it like the SG base editor.
for a couple of reasons, first, as mentioned already, the SG base system is a broke enough system as it is, it struggled to get raids working, it's definitely not designed for regular missions, the amount of code to ensure that missions didn't become broke would be just too much.
This leads to my second reason, all mission maps will contain suitable spawn locations, places to have glowies and AI pathing so NPCs can find their way around. It would be borderline impossibility to truly be able to create "custom" maps with the tech currently available. That's not to say it couldn't ever happen, but i seriously doubt that it would ever really be tried.
Quote:Questions we've all asked in many threads.
Short answer:
The developers have abandoned developement on Mission Architect. The developers that are left will spend all their time on the incarnate stuff and booster packs.
So yeah... Guess they think there aren't enough interest in AE to devote dev time. Sorry to seem so negative. It's just the way it is... -
You may want to make room for hasten in there somewhere. The more recharge you can get the better dark becomes.

Quote:Keep in mind this is only a bridge until I20, once that hits, like BS has said, there will be other means to attain these items which i'm assuming will be more solo friendly.Black Scorpion's announcement that running the Weekly Strike Target is necessary to obtain a "Notice of the Well", a requirement for the Rare and eventually Very Rare Alpha Slot content is concerning to me.
I'm a mostly solo player. Not that I'm against team content - I often team, and every once in a great while join a task force, but most of them are so long, and I'm in that category of player that can't play for more than maybe an hour or two a night.
I'm hoping that it's taken into consideration that not everyone can participate in 3+ hours of gameplay at once, because as it stands, it feels like this is some end-game content that I may be cut off from as a result.
Secondly, pretty much all late-game TFs (excluding Shadow Shard) can be easily completed with in 1-2 hours. I often will run an LGTF or ITF which would take no more than 1 to 1.5 hours to complete even if we clear each mission for shards. All you will need is a half decent team of people who have perhaps ran through these TFs before and you won't have a problem. -
If you're planning to duo with this a fair bit then perhaps a /therm or /dark would go well with traps. Poison is more ore less just more potent single target versions of the same debuffs. They're invaluable for AVs, but general missioning you may find something with some AoE heals might be in order.
Demons do pack their own pocket healer, the ember demon. Although his aura heal does have a hefty recharge on it and ember demons are notorious for having very bad endurance problems.
A /dark will give you a nice AoE heal (two in fact once you get Dark Servant). Thermal also gives plenty of heals and resistance as well as some extra debuffs.
