Demons/Traps?

I've seen a lot of Demon/This and Demon/That combos, but I've yet to see a Demons/Traps MM. Is there a reason for it that I'm missing?

Too many alts to list.

My guess would be that it's because the themes clash a bit. I have one at 27 and he does fine.

Yeah I got a demon/traps I did up. It is a very good combo I think. Thematically opposites, but still nice. I was able to fly through Prae arcs with it.

i am the proud owner of a lvl 50 demon/traps. They're actually much better than what people make them out to be, especially once you get some sets in. I think yeah it's probably the thematics of both being completely different, still, it didn't stop me from making a backstory.

True; here's mine for my Demon/Traps MM Professor Perdition for an example:

Quote:
Scientist, rationalist, demon summoner. By studying obscure aspects of transuniversal field theory, the Professor has discovered that by certain vocal and somatic manipulations he can open gateways to another inhabited dimension, containing useful if dangerous entities that the unscientific might term 'demons'. After early experiments cost him his right arm, he had a cybernetic replacement installed capable of projecting a plasma whip useful for keeping these unruly creatures under control. He intended to use these beasts to keep Praetoria the orderly utopia Emperor Cole meant it to be. But after he joined Powers Division, he discovered more and more uncomfortable facts that his cloistered intellectual life had shielded him from. More injustices, more acts of oppression, more outright evil than he had believed existed in Cole's 'Utopia'. In the end he could take no more, and turned against the very Empire he set out to support...

I have a Demon Traps myself, but I think the theme issue is probably the culprit here. My Demon Traps is also my first Female / RP / Semi Petless type toon. Figured I would go the works with this one. I only picked traps because it easily allows me to gain defense cap with a Semi Petless ( last pet only ) build. Traps anything is super great. So the only reason would have to be thematic here.

Going to actually have to try this. Was trying a semi-petless demon, but was having trouble getting past the lack of defense. As much as I love traps, never really considered it, guess theme kept me from it.
Love to see your build idea on this if you dont mind.

There is room for modification. All the LOTG can be changed out. Bonfire and Fireball can me changed out. I picked up fireball and bonfire for added DPS and bonfire is a neat power to keep mobs at bay.

RP concept rich spoiled girl who steals gadgets from daddy's company and got involved in occult and demon summoning after killing a low level villain and stealing his spell book using dads gadgets of course.

Costume wise I wanted to have the innocent girl that progressively gets worse and uglier with each costume mixing magic and tech looks. Her demon Charlie occasionally blows up to protect her. I tried a male toon but just could not get the look I wanted. Females already have the school girl costume so it just fit better.

My second build is a full Demon build because people really get mad about petless or semi petless masterminds. But I have been leveling Semi Petless only so far. At level 37 its a painfully slow build to create, but having 3 or 4 MM at levels 45 or higher ( 2 at 50 IO and alpha slotted ) I wanted to try something challenging for me.

Nice, opens up new ideas for me to try this again. Thanks.

Kind of thinking of a low level magic user who decided to use technology to enhance his abilities. May focus concept on the whip in some way.
I have times I like to solo, and the rate of levelling does not matter on some toons, as probably would be the case with this one. Even when I do team, most times it is with fellow VG members, so offending others or hampering a team would not be a problem.

My ds/traps is Science origin. He doesn't summon demons. He summons genetically modified Devouring Earth. Gotta love how they belch from the ground.

im also the owner of a lvl 50 demon/traps guy, i went with the combo because i figured the demons decent dmg and -resist would couple very well with the traps debuffs and its working pretty well especially with the controls of the tier 3 pets and the heals from the tier 2 pet

I haven't leveled past the painful low 20's yet with mine but it seems a strong combo. My concept was pure magic origin strategic sadist. If you've played final fantasy dissidia his trapping theme is similar to that of Emperor Mateus.

My toon's backstory is that she was born to parents in which the mother was fond of dark magic, aka. being able to summon and control demons. Her father was a skilled mechanist who has invented a variety of technological gadgets to bring down foes. They split apart soon after her birth, so she started living with her mother, before later moving to her father. Ergo, she now has demon summoning and traps!

Off-topic, but I loved that back story.

Could one of you two please tell me, because I've been really wondering: What happens when you use detonator? Do the demons just explode, or do they try and place the bomb on the ground first?

Ahhhh.... :-[

I've been trying to find out ever since DS appeared almost a year ago, but I've never had the will to just make one and level to 38 so as to find out.

Thanks! Now you got me wondering! LOL

SOMEONE LEVEL UP! Hurry! :P

I think I'm going to have to risk it. Will just have to hope they decided to save some money on animations, and have them blow up.

Hopefully you haven't taken the power yet... I'm 1 lvl away from 38 else I would have told you!

What you can do is just pick your second build and choose the power. That way your main build isn't affected nor do you have to waste a respec if you don't like it
