  1. Never could show it off in CoH, but The Speeding Skull's original weapons were a three foot length of chain and a sharpened crowbar he'd wield from the back of his motorcycle. Always thought the image of a guy dressed in an armored skeleton costume charging at you form atop a motorcycle with a crowbar raised above him, ready to hook you with it would be a damn terrifying sight to behold.

And yeah, this is my *hero* toon!

  2. I too have been having trouble with the game crashing when trying to zone to the Hospital in Grandville. Also, when trying to log onto any toons that I left in Grandville, the game will crash. If I take a toon left in any other zone into Grandville, everything is hunky dorey.

Oh, also anything that brings up a Zoning Please Wait screen will cause the game to crash when started in Grandville.

    Ie,
    Zoning to the hospital.
Zoning to the SG medical bays.
Updating graphic settings, both up AND down.

  3. I already posted this in the Badges & Gladiators section but I'm reposting here in hopes the Devs can add it...

You know.... If there's only the one single Contaminated spawning outside of Outbreak I really hope they've given him the civilians "terrified run" animation. You know, the one where they run with their knees up to their chest, arms flailing over their head.

In addition I'd like to see him given an enhanced speed. Maybe not Super or Siphon Speed levels, but something much, much higher than Sprint speeds.

I can just imagine it now. One lone Contaminated screaming in abject terror, running for dear life through the streets of Atlas with a mob of 371 players after him.

"Jesus CHRIST, someone 'port me back with the newbs! AIEEEEE!!"

That scene alone would make for some of the greatest entertainment CoX has to offer.

Will the sniper blast powers available to Stalkers in the Patron pools be able to do Critical damage when executed from Hide?

Hey, waitwait, what? What about those of us who made our characters prior to issue 2? That's just not right...

    [/ QUOTE ]

This happens to be the primary argument for all those that want the badge. Its been said before far more eloquently, but it bears repeating. If I have been playing this game actively since open beta without any lapse in my account and have been running the same toon without deletion since the head start event (who only happens be level 40, I might add. I like seeing ALL the content), shouldn't I at least have a chance to earn this badge? I don't care if the odds are so stacked against me that the requirements for earning the badge are near to impossible, so long as their is a remote chance for even one more shot at it, I'd be happy.

Older players need some lovin' too.

    Badge Questions

Heyya Pos', I have two questions. First, what are the requirements for the Shock Trooper badge? Second, is Annihilator (supposedly for defeating Freedom Phalanx) currently available on the live servers?

    Sally Spawn Rate

    [ QUOTE ]
Would you mind terribly checking all the other rare monster spawns as well? Some of them like Kraaken, Paladin, and Jurrasik for instance seem to be exceptionally rare as well.

Since you're in the spawn time checkin mood that is...

    Great news, btw.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Jurassik, he doesn't really exist does he? I mean, if he did, there would be almost no way that I could log in and out of Crey's Folly's everytime I am on and *never* see him. That in all my collective hours on, I have never heard one Freedom Badge report of him being up....

    [/ QUOTE ]

Jurassik does spawn however unlike monsters like Kraken or Babbage he has at least six confirmed spawn points in Crey's Folly. It's almost as easy to miss him as it is Kraken -- that thing has amazing camoflauge when standing near the tree line.

However I am wondering about the Paladin Construction Site Event. THAT one is disgustingly rare. Perhaps a quick gander at the spawn rates for it is in order?

  10. Personally I loathe using the mouse and only do so when I'm forced to (glowies, doors, cancelling OK windows, etc).

I'd have to get back on my main computer to get a copy of my bind list (at work now--Money is good) but the basic adjustments I usually make are something like this...

    Numpad1 - Zoom Out
    Numpad2 - CamReset$$CamDist 25
    Numpad3 - Zoom In
    Numpad4 - Strafe Left
    Numpad5 - Backward
    Numpad6 - Strafe Right
    Numpad7 - Turn Left
    Numpad8 - Forward
    Numpad9 - Turn Right
    Numpad0 - Target Next Enemy
    NumpadEnter - Target Next Friend
    Numpad/ - Look Down
    Numpad* - Look Up
    Numpad- - Down while Flying
    Numpad+ - Jump or Autorun+Autojump for Hurdlers/ Superjumpers
NumLock - Toggle the Chat, Tray, Nav and Target windows (Especially useful while teleporting)
    ~ - Toggle Travel Power
    Shift+Fkeys - Emotes if I have room
    Scroll - Manage (enhancement screen)

Those are just my quality of life binds. Without them, playing CoH drives me insane. Depending ont he character's AT, travel power(s) and tactics I end up monkeying with the rest of the keyboard with various binds and chord binds as I need 'em. Superjumpering Scrappers are generally pretty bind light while Flying Blasters tend to get pretty involved, but only because I like to make my aerial combat as grceful as possible.

  11. To any Rednames:
Have the proposed stealth suppression changes gone live with Issue 5? There's no mention of such changes being included in the update notes for today (08/31/05). An official "Yay" or "Nay" would be downright dandy.

    -Skull
  12. And hell, while I'm thinking of it you might want to add to your list of "Do Not Touch" keys, F1, F2, F3, F4, and F5 since those are normally dedicated to your Inspirations.

Also, a little known command you can use to clear a key of a problem bind is " nop "

For example, lets say you wanted to add a bind where your toon activates Superspeed, says a witty line and goes into autorun all at once but you screw up and assign it to a key you weren't intending to put it on and which you normally would never use like B. Just type in

    /bind b "nop"

And whal-la. Key is back to being unassigned.

    -Skull
  13. Also, just as an FYI, the default command to select a teammate using the keyboard only is

    Left Shift+1 for teammate 1,
Left Shift+2 for teammate 2, etc.

Winza - Thanks so much for your tutorial. I've always wanted to try binds and macros but never knew how. In the last 10 minutes I've created 3 binds for me and one macro for my fiancee.

But now I have a problem. I want to create binds for the 10-keypad. I want to assign team members to each number so if I need to heal or buff them, I can just select their number. I hate using the mouse to click on them or their name. Is there a way to do this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

::Cracks his knuckles, dusts off his old bind command list built off of Curveball's original Guide To Bind and a year of experimentation on his own and gets down to business::

Its actually pretty easy to set up any key to select a particular team mate. For your intended use I'd recommend the following set up.

    /bind numpad1 "team_select 1"
    /bind numpad2 "team_select 2"
    /bind numpad3 "team_select 3"
    /bind numpad4 "team_select 4"
    /bind numpad5 "team_select 5"
    /bind numpad6 "team_select 6"
    /bind numpad7 "team_select 7"
    /bind numpad8 "team_select 8"

Now if you want to actually heal a specific team member with the press of the corresponding number on the 10-Key, I'm pretty sure it should look something like this, though my memory is a bit hazey...

    /bind numpad1 "unselect$$team_select 1$$powexec_name Heal Other"
    /bind numpad2 "unselect$$team_select 2$$powexec_name Heal Other"
    /bind numpad3 "unselect$$team_select 3$$powexec_name Heal Other"
    /bind numpad4 "unselect$$team_select 4$$powexec_name Heal Other"
    /bind numpad5 "unselect$$team_select 5$$powexec_name Heal Other"
    /bind numpad6 "unselect$$team_select 6$$powexec_name Heal Other"
    /bind numpad7 "unselect$$team_select 7$$powexec_name Heal Other"
    /bind numpad8 "unselect$$team_select 8$$powexec_name Heal Other"

Any other questions for a long time binder?

By the way, I forgot to mention a GREAT trick you can use with jumping powers! You can jump up to the top of buildings quickly and easily. I did it with Hurdle, but it works even better with Combat Jumping. There are small ledges at the bottom of windows, often between floors, and various other places. Run up to a building, hold down the space bar to jump and "w" to go forward, and use "a" and "d" as needed to move sideways to find ledges. It's a WHOLE lot faster and easier than taking the stairs. It makes that "Defeat 10 CoT in KR" mission go really fast, since they're usually on building tops. Unfortunately it doesn't work on smooth buildings, like many stores and offices. I hear it can be done without any jumping power, but I haven't ever managed to do it very well. Maybe if I played more alts at low levels I'd develop the skill.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The wall hopping trick can in fact be done by a level one character, but it requires the active use of Sprint or a similar prestige power and you have to jump on the right kinds of buildings (dingey brick ones similar to those found in Kings Row work best). Its actually the only means of getting onto a large number of the rooftops in Outbreak and as a means of getting on top of the Outbreak Hospital via one of the brick buildings behind it.
  16. SG Name: Mad Al's Taxi Service
SG Dispatchers: Mad Al's Taxi, Mad Al's Taxi44
SG Website (if any): Not yet!
SG Recruiters: Any Mad Al's Taxi toon can forward you the info. A more streamlined system will be incorporated once the website goes up.
    Teamspeak/Ventrillo Server: Nada, Chief.
    SG Peak Hours: Evenings

Other Info: Mad Al's Taxi Service is a group dedicated to getting heroes to all those spots the Paragon Transit Authority can't. The minimum requirements for membership are Recall Friend and the willingness to transport anyone to any location they need, free of charge "while on duty" (when you're in the mood to play Taxi). We don't mind if you accept tips, but demanding pay (in influence, XP, missions, inspiration or enhancement) before agreeing to 'port someone is considered poor form and grounds for expulsion. If folks offer you any of the above, by all means accept, but just don't expect to be paid. Think of Mad Al's as a charity organization.

Superspeedsters/Jumpers are very welcome as their ability to transport folks to their mission doors/contacts is simply more efficient but we aren't prejudiced to any other recruit's means of transportation.

Also, a strong knowledge (or a handy VidiotMap) of the store and contact locations of the Zones you prefer to work in is highly recommended.

No recruit is required to make a fresh toon with the Mad Al's Taxi name and cab #, but we'll dig ya if you do! Likewise, you're welcome to wear any costume you like so long as you display the company colors of yellow and black while on duty. However, if you'd like to move up from a Hack to Fare Jockey status, you are required to own (have a spare costume slot dedicated to) the standard Mad Al's Taxi Service uniform and wear it while on duty.

We accept all AT's and power sets, but we're particularly fond of Kineticists (both Defenders and Controllers) due to your ability to grant folks enhanced travel capabilities.

Again, the only requirements for membership are Recall Friend and the desire to help your fellow heroes by getting them where they need to go.

    Villain Emotes

    Here're a few more.

The villain takes a long drag from a cigarette, blows a plume of smoke up and to the left, then flicks the cigarette off to the right.

The villain pulls a smoldering cigarette from his lips, lets it fall to the ground at his feet, then casually stamps it out before getting into a fighting stance.

Villain stands with one hand gingerly touching his chest, the other held out to his side and slightly upward with his head back as though he were singing operatically.

    And last but not least,

/e milkingthegiantcow The villain stands with his head thrown back in silent laughter, arms raised above his head and fists clenched.

    The Crotch Chop.
  19. Speaking only for myself and my preferred style of play, ANYTHING that will aid me in avoiding team play is incredibly welcome, even if I have to wait until the 40's to earn it. Personally, I love that feeling of glory when I can single handedly take down an Archvillain or Monster or whatever.

.....Though here's a thought. An Epic Power Pool called Doom for City of Villains. It could go up there with stuff like a Disintegration pool and a Revealing The Entire Plot While Gloating Maniacally pool.

You don't get a badge for killing babbage on the TF? well then its impossible as the GMs said he only spawns for the TF which i know isn't the fact he belongs in Boomtown as well.

his spawn must be broken unless someone has killed him recently. It would be nice to get a confirmation of a recent kill.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I took him down in Skyway City AND recieved the badge from it last night if this is what you mean. Also bagged Kracken and Adamastor, all in about an hour... amazing how easy monster hunting is at 5am ET

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you sure you didn't just inadvertantly snipe someone's TF Babbage Spawn? Can anyone confirm that Babbage appears outside of the Synapse TF? If he doesn't then I predict there are going to be a hell of a lot of upset players once folks realize the only way to get their badge for Babbage is by kill-stealing someone's task force spawn.

Also, as Babbage is one of the few monsters thats more or less guaranteed to fight you when you work on a TF, why the heck haven't the Devs awarded retroactive Clockstopper badges to everyone that completed the Synapse task force??

    ::Wants his god-damned Clockstopper badge::
