My point is that I don't think this criticism is constructive. It asks for change without giving some suggestions.

More to my point, though, is that there will never be one symbol that pleases everyone. I still remember the numerous complaints about the Rogue and Vigilante symbols. And in the CoH universe, the most recognized symbol of notoriety is Arachnos. Even if you're not part of the organization, you're still probably setting up shop on their soil in the Rogue Isles. From an RP standpoint, it could be considered a national flag, as opposed to membership to an organization.

    Just my opinion.
I think you've missed the point of the entire post here. Having an arachnos symbol as the 'symbol' for villains implies we are associated with/to arachnos. It is more is a theme complaint than actual look of the logo. The arachnos logo is cool looking and all but being tied to them isn't something I think is necessary. Also, if you're arachnos why are you always attacked by arachnos NPCs in various villain zones?

Anyway, since you asked, the sky is the limit for symbols that could replace the arachnos spider. Your examples were an effort to support your point and I can't take you seriously when you make such suggestions. So, how about something like a skull? Or something else somewhat sinister looking. The devs did a great job with the rogue symbol so, yeah, I am sure something could be put into place.

I have a thought, and it is only a thought, that at some point, when the incarnate content is developed enough, the Devs will 'pull up the ladder' on incarnate powers and make them only usable during incarnate trials and content.
Yeah the 50 level non icontent is kinda meh now. We used to have to strategic for the STF and LRSF. Now we just charge in and whoop some signature characters. You can up the diff but that doesn't work so well when the team isn't all incarnate.

Anyway, I hope the rest of the incarnate powers aren't so powerful. We have enough. I was afraid of this when they introduced the new powers. I think leagues would have been fun if they were not incarnate and just, maybe, lvl 45+ content with improved rewards.
  3. It isn't uber but if you team then it is fine. I'm rolling with a DP/Dark corr and it isn't bad. I team almost all the time and the dark set helps teams a lot. The damage is meh but I'm not too worried about that. I hope, one day soon, they provide alternate animations to each power in the set. I like them as is but some variety would be great.

I may have misread this but I thought the new, lower red side content had us moving away from the arachnos lap dog idea. Anyway, I would prefer to have a bit more open ended origins and not just have this junk shoved down our throats.
  5. Yep. That's right. Can we get rid of that annoying arachnos symbol attached to villains? I thought we stopped with the idea of being 'chosen ones' for arachnos. I have no desire to have my toons associated with arachnos (for the most part). I really think it stifles our character ideas to have them lap dogs for someone. Give us full artistic license to make our toons. Having a 'villain' symbol for villains would be nice instead of that arachnos spider.
  6. You mean the ones that stood in the air and clipped everything around them? Or sunk half way into the ground when defeated? Or were so large all you saw were boots when you were in melee range? Those ones??? NO THANKS!!!! Horrible idea! I hope we never see them again.

The price? That is called excellent marketing strategy. See, lots of people will say " pffft, no way, thats too much!!"(like the price is right gameshow game) And then they wont buy it, and a few will come here and say thats too much.

But! A lot of people will buy it, because they have lots of money and dont care(you would be amazed at how many people fall into this catagory these days) or they are OCD and will buy it for that. And then, lots of people will hand a good chunk of money to NC, and NC will rejoice.

    AND THEN!!!!

A few months from now they will offer it at a sale price, and more people will buy it because at that point the price will be more in line, and then NC will get more money and rejoice. So, in this way, they get people to buy the product for lots of money(relatively speaking) and then more people to buy it at what would be considered a "fair" price.

it's like new cars. People will buy a 50k dollar car, drive it for a year and trade it in for 25k with like 7k miles on it- because they have money to burn. And then the rest of us shmucks will buy it "almost new" for like 2/3 the price of new, because "thats a fair price"

It really is all genius. I bet the marketing model for the "new free game" rakes in more cash then the 15 dollar sub could ever dream of. Heck I bet people would be really surprised at the amount of players that went all in so to speak and bought out the store in the first week. And NC rejoiced.

I think you and I have different definitions of genius. However, I do agree with your point regarding the likeliness of having a power set of costume bundle each week.

I will definitely pass on this item. No chance of a purchase here. I can't imagine too many people wanting it. I'm assuming Paragon will never reveal how well their various items sell; heck, we can't even get a straight answer when we ask who the lead dev is these days.

Perhaps Paragon could poll the players to vote for types of items they would prefer to see. Have a pop up appear when you log in directing you to the site to vote.

    bah. How irritating.
I usually just google names now. If they belong to a comic book character I will not bother. It is annoying that you can still get these names and then get genericed.

I wonder what kind of deal NC made with Marvel et al. Seriously. Marvel did not create the name Apocalypse or many of the other names we can't use. Yet somehow they have been given the sole right to the name. As if. If we make a toon that looks like the namesake with similar powers then, by all means, gen. us; but this agreement has them just laying the smack down on us!
  9. Yeah I had a name and wanted to remake the toon (street justice). I delete him and then can't get the name back. I petition and they say the name is copyright. I note to them an alternate version is and not mine. They agree but say they can't do anything about it because they can't alter the filter. They then tell me to put it on the forums and ask a dev to deal with it. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I am not sure if I should go scrapper or brute. What are you going for?
  11. Fire Armor all the way. That sound? Yes, that's right, it's me opening a can of whoop ***.
  12. I think defenders are kinda fun. I would try to put together a build in Mids and tweek it to your play style. I like lots of defence so I take the scorpion shield and also take the leadership pool (defenders get slightly higher bonuses I believe).

Dual pistols is an underwhelming set (damage) but super fun animations.
  13. Can we get the Nightmares back to the usual size? You can't see half of them when they spawn; they aren't even standing on the ground when they appear; they clip all over - sometimes half in the ground etc; they look like they should be a balloon in a Macy's Halloween parade. Yeah, it isn't looking good.
  14. Ok what's with the insanely giant sized Nightmares that spawn during zombie invasions?! It is cool you guys can make Godzilla sized creatures but this is too big for constant spawns. Maybe one unique GM in a zone or mish etc but a bunch of them is overwhelming. You can't see half the GM. I hope they revert back to normal size soon.

This is a bunch of crap. The only incentive to do these missions was for the A merit or rewards. The missions themselves are lame and not a lot of fun. Ah well...I guess I won't be running these too often. Way to screw us over, yet again.
  16. Not sure about this one. I love a lot of stuff they have out but they sure don't have a lot of pieces in it. It seems the CoT and this pack seriously lack items. Also, the different texture of the sea creature boots and gloves is awful and almost useless as it does not 'mesh' with many other costume textures.

I think this one might be a no sale...
  17. Ok I would love to know WHY the textures on the sea creature gloves and boot pieces are different from most other costume pieces. They do not match most of the costume options and just really stand out and look out of place. I found similar 'tough to match texture' issues with Ascension armor. I really hope this trend stops as it makes it tough to match these pieces with many others on a costume/look.

    Yeah this.

Do any of the people up there still play? I really don't know if this thread is such a good idea in any event. Looks are subjective and I'll leave it at that
  19. If a name is copyrighted in the comic world, and you use it, Paragon will generic you. Their filter does not block all names and it is frustrating. You would think: how does Marvel get to have the sole rights to the name Apocalypse in the comic industry? They didn't create the name or anything close to it. So, one day I'm messing around making a toon and I get the name Apocalypse (no l/i trick etc). My toon did not look like the Marvel character in the slightest. Three months after making the toon, IOing and getting him to 50, I get the generic bat. Pathetic. I've had many other names taken from me in similar fashion and just had one take that isn't copyrighted which I am disputing.

Best bet is to google a name and if there is an existing comic character with the name then expect to be genericed. I don't know what kind of agreement NC went into with Marvel et al but it stinks.
  20. I appreciate the feedback! I am trying to make adjustments to deal with END issues but a lot of the slotting is there to softcap PvE def and then get Farsight to kick it up even more when needed in Trials.

The goal here is to go with similar defence. I am going to use some of your suggestions and would love to see your build. Thanks again.

Ok so I worked on a build and this might be it!

I think you could also use the energy aura set as well and apply the same premise. The new EA is quite good and I made a great SJ/EA build.
  22. I have to agree with the OP. It is also concerning that we may get a big group of players jumping in and then leaving because they couldn't team etc. due to lack of communication.

I would really love to hear why the devs decided to implement the new model this way. I am not a huge gamer and I could be missing something. Anyway, I think this oversight or error could be a HUGE mistake by the devs...it just seems they did all this work to change the business model and forgot the one of the biggest pieces.

It'd be great if they added server-wide teaming channels and allow free players to REPLY to tells. I also wish they promoted this as much as they promoted GOING ROGUE. This would be worth while most of GR turned out to be very weak or a bust.
  23. So, I don't like purples (too much $). I try to get solid defence on a build and enure the powers are effective. I'd appreciate any insight/feedback/comments.

  24. I wonder if a Street Justice/Fire Armour Brute will have high DPS than the SS/FA? I see some of the ideas/numbers on here but I just don't know.
  25. Are the devs a little overly secretive about everything? I guess Pos gets lead role back? No offence to Pos but I was hoping for a change of gaurd/direction for this game. Having all these new systems and powers etc is ok but when most of the new content is the same old then the game gets stale. In general. I also think turnover helps break the 'stale' feeling in any business...I think that would apply here. It would have been nice to go off in a different direction....one where we have not gone before!

Anyway, I like the new powers and some of the trials but not much else. I guess I've played the game for a while now and it has stopped offering something new and different. I am also concerned at the quality of newer items; the CoT pack has TWELVE pieces in it and the new Signature Story Arc (part 1) was quite weak. I think the SSA is only enticing because of the rewards, not because it is fun to play. It isn't worth the $ at this point.

Well, I hope this game well. I want it around for a long time so I may leave and one day come back to my old toons
