  1. Would love to see new animations for all body types when running with shields, weapons etc. That animation looks way too dainty and it is annoying

Nah. I've had people tell me the player base has not drastically declined due to increased server capacity. I'm not hunting down the posts and could care less if you believe me or not.

I agree, this game will live or die based on the profits. Plain and simple. I, for one, like to see these stats. Gives me an idea what is ACTUALLY happening. As for all of you that are out here crying: what's the point of this....oh, the nasty old OP is crying doooooooom (as you dorks put it)....he's a bad man blah blah blah. Give it a rest. The OP put down a fact and is generating discussion. Some of us like to know what's going on in the world that is actually real. I don't like to stick my head in the sand and ignore things I am interested in. I'm not saying all of you do but it seems obvious there is some that going on in here It seems you people apply that 'oh he's crying doom, he's a hater, he's a troll' criteria/critique to the posts you don't like or disagree with. That's nice. We don't all think alike. Feel free to contribute or post etc. Stop telling others what to do or what their intent is. You only verify your own stupidity. Unfortunately, some people on here have been verified several times over

And the bits on ""aren't doing things right" are about people complaining that everything's dead and they can't find teams, not about population decline (which are not even close to the same things).

Actually, a number of people DO believe there is no population decline. I have talked on this topic in these forums before and many people come up with all types of reasons as to why the population isn't really decreasing. Such faves as: server capacity increased, school, etc etc. It is painfully obvious there has been a significant decrease in population. These numbers help verify the said decrease.

I have no problem with the OP posting this data. Maybe the ones trashing him prefer to live in your own fantasy world and don't like things like facts. I actually want to know these things and have a realistic idea of what is happening around me.

True dat. Liking the Clockwork stuff but, overall, not a great effort for new costumes. Sport isn't really a full set; resistance is decent; overgaurd isn't bad and the police outfit is pretty basic. Many of these pieces look as if they are variations to existing pieces. I dunno. It's ok stuff but not great.
  5. Wow. The OP is taking a beating here. Glad to see we have a large import of WoW players

So while on paper it's exciting, it'll probably be a long time after launch before it is in a state that feels half as complete as COX does now(and even now we have stuff that still needs doing).
Completely agree but I am sure it is in the mix. I can't believe 80 or so devs worked on GR...no way... They had to be doing other things as well. Maybe just another MMO. Who knows...
  7. I hope it's not too late for the CoH2 dev team to allow us to port our existing toons to that game. Then I would be all over it for sure.

I wonder when they will let us know about that game. Probably Jan 2011, I am guessing. That way they can sell as much GR and then move forward.
  8. I don't care much for blue side. It has way too many zones and many are quite dead. It is also poorly designed and most of the TFs kinda stink. Red side SFs aren't much better but it is well designed - easy to travel to all the zones etc.

He was going on and on about how Going Rogue will fail, how the developers don't know what they're doing and that current studio is using software development methodologies one step removed from card readers and vacuum tubes.

Having done some software development in my past (though not recently) and a fair amount of project management for software projects, I asked him how he knows this. Well apparently, this fellow is somewhat of a developer fanboy and obsessively follows tweets from BaBs, reads details from their blogs and scours the net in search of details of how the game is made. He also, according to a mutual acquaintance, works in hardware for some company and according to him "has lots of software developer friends who knows how things are done right!"

He and I ended with no conclusion to our little Internet squabble but it led me to this thought. While I have no idea exactly how this game is developed and published, I do know that this game is a commercial success in a field where there is significant competition. It's successful enough that the studio has grown from a mere 15 or 20 to about 80 developers. It's about to release it's second full expansion and it's 18th free update. Further, whereas many studios keep their fans/customers at arm's length, Paragon Studios goes out of its way to keep us intimately involved in many aspects of the game.

This doesn't mean that I agree with everything that the devs have done nor do I like every aspect of this game. But I like enough of it to keep paying a monthly sub, and I don't expect anything less than to be delighted with Going Rogue and issue 18. So, in sum, I trust that Paragon Studios will continue the same level of excellence that has kept me as a paying customer. I care not whether or not the servers are powered by hamsters and the developers design their models with etch-a-sketches. It's the finished product that counts, and it's generally been impressive for 6 years.
    The updates aren't free.
  11. Did they mention what was next for CoH...like for the next year or so...
  12. There had to be more to it that this...? No?
  13. So I guess the CoH GR panel is Thurs early aft. I am surprised there aren't more Comic Con threads out there telling us about what's going on. Isn't the CoH team in a booth all week? Ah well...hope some info hits the forums tomorrow afternoon
  14. Is there an updated list of things that will be in GR? I just hope the Devs didn't drop the ball with this one and just add a bunch of repetitive missions into a new zone.

I am wondering if there will be any new TFs, open missions, new things to do and that sort of thing. I am really glad they're doing side switching but that doesn't add a lot of new things to do in game....we've all played both sides for a long time now.

Considering the larger Dev team and period between expansions, I am hoping there is much more to GR than I have seen.

Tis why she is so damn close to giving up on this game.
Obviously these 'people' are the minority because they are finally adding an end game and level 50 stuff. So, tell her to hang on just a bit longer!

Good to see the DEVS give us an honest answer with some notice. I hope they realize it is appreciated when we are told where things are at instead of just silence for months at a time. Fill marks to them on filling us in.

I also hope their new direction is to add stuff to do instead of so much fluff like the last several issues. Their last 'big thing' went off with a fizzle (AE). I really like AE but it seems the amount of work that went into it does not justify the end result. Anyway, looks like good things on the horizon and thanks for the update.

GR has enough 1-20 content for use to worry about ATM. You have to realize that the ratio they make content and the ratio we burn through it. I applaud what they are doing and hold out hope this GR IS A hold on till the dust settles on swtor and other large headed know. Then they launch coh2 (since they reserved the name just my thoughts)

Make a whole new game? Uuuuuuuuuh no. Let me explain my point a bit more so you can understand, perhaps, a bit better.

We constantly get 'new' content. This content is not new IMO because the mission maps, enemies, enemy placement etc etc are EXACTLY the same as numerous other missions. It is LAME. We have that over and over. I suggest not adding anything like this ever again. Now that GR is almost out, maybe the larger Dev team could add a unique TF each issue or something like that (it'd be nice if they issues came out on a somewhat regular basis).

Also, the canon/story continues to be told. Story advancement seems a bit too slow. I lost interest a while ago in some of the canon for this reason. Maybe have fewer lengthy developments and more quick stories that take place in 1 issue (like a TF or arc).

I think my fave issue has to be 12. Cimerora, VEATS, ITF etc. That is an issue. Hopefully there are more like that.

I don't get this. You have never played blue side before?

It is nice that you can switch sides but it, really, doesn't give us anything new to do. I think the 'shine' of side switching will wear off rather quickly when you switch and see you're doing the same old...

I18 looks like another weak issue. They brought back the CoP trial and will obviously be very different than the original (not that I was here for that). I just hope it's fun to play and has new maps etc in it.

I really wish the Devs introduced new stuff that hasn't been touched on in the canon. The game has been around for a while and we've heard about a lot of these things already. Kinda makes you feel like GR won't feel all that 'new'. I hope I am wrong.
  18. Well, I do not want to see anymore zones. We have too many and lots of those are just dead. Why not add dinos and other monsters to....MONSTER ISLAND

I would like to see them stop using the mission maps we have. They have been done to death and adding more missions with the same map, enemy etc is just lame. It's the same mish with different text. Just awful. We have enough of this so why add more? Spend the time to make new missions. We have a lot to do so there's no need to add low quality missions.

Add quality TFs/SFs. The ITF is a shining example of a fun TF (different look, lots of enemies you don't see anywhere else, not too repetitive). Not many others that I actually enjoy. I hope they have all types of new/unique ones added. Underwater TFs, other worlds, space etc etc. I would rather you skip adding the same looking missions and take extra time to add something new and unique.

Stop using the same old enemy factions. How about something more superhero like. The Fifth, CoT, etc...pretty dull...not supers. We're playing superhero stuff not D&D.

If you're going to make a booster pack at least add a few more pieces in there. Some of them have really been kinda weak. So many other games have some pretty exotic, detailed looking costume pieces. This game has a bit of that but not nearly enough.

Finally, it'd be nice to stop seeing alternate versions of the signature or main characters. There should be all types of unique and seperate forces, characters and threats

Not quite a top 10 but just what I'd like to see.
  19. Ok well I really think red side is lacking SFs but blue side has a lot of bad ones. Most of the original ones are just awful. I think the Posi revamp was decent and well layed out but most of the other TFs just stink. A bunch of regular missions slapped together - repetitive, redundant and a whole lot of UNfun.

It would be nice to see a revamp of these TFs. They seem to be a bit of an embarrassment as the game has far better experiences and TFs in it. CoH is now 6+ years old and still has a limited number of TFs/SFs and most of them are poorly done. Time to fix these up.
  20. I wonder if they have touched on all the areas that will be in GR. I didn't really see any new mission styles/innovations (although there were some comments about tip missions etc). Are these morality missions just going to be like the current arcs we have now? The Midnighter's Club arc has become a nuisance and a hassle. I hope the alignment changes don't get to that state.

All in all there seems to be a lot of cool little stuff to do but if the play style is just like what we have now and it all has a familiar feel...I think the long time players will tire of this very quickly.

EXACTLY! We have enough 'empty' zones.

I suggest, instead of new zones, making high end TFs/SFs like the ITF. They can be on other planets (and/or the moon), underwater, etc. That way people want to do these because they are a NEW look and (hopefully) fun to do. Most TFs and some SFs are really lame and a grind/struggle. Here's to improved quality!

    SD/SS build?

I've been checking the forums and cannot locate a decent Shield/SS tank build (with maybe a pyre epic power). I don't see one in the guide either. Can we get some posted?
  23. I am happy for the merge news. Also another big deal is the ability for heroes and vills to exchange INSP. I am guessing WW is to thank for actually adding a feature that makes good sense and players want.

I think WW understands the need to give us things to do and not base issues on QoL upgrades and the ability to color powers or give us log off bonuses. These items are decent but not a priority.

Oh dear. I hope there is much more than... TWO!!!! That was the key add, IMO. Most of the other stuff is a lot of what we have. Side switching would be nice but we have been to all of these environments and see these areas. It'd be nice to play them with the opposite side but we're doing the same stuff. I believe there was a comment stating there would be hundreds of new missions in GR. Ok, if they are using the same old crap maps then those are NOT new missions! Good grief. If they recycle all those old maps again, I will be physically ill....
  25. Seems like the complaints keep rolling. I don't mind what I see in this pack. My issue is we are getting so little in it. It is poor value for the $10 we fork out.

I think people should come in and make their voices heard. I don't think it bothers the Devs too much either way. I also think the best way to voice your displeasure is to NOT buy the pack. Then they will definitely hear you. If this pack sells like hot cakes, I am guessing any concerns raised here will become...trivial.

Anyway, I don't think I will buy it. There's very little in it for $10. It's getting to be at the Cryptic level for value when buying these things. They got my money for GR and I'll just wait for those.
