I've been checking the forums and cannot locate a decent Shield/SS tank build (with maybe a pyre epic power). I don't see one in the guide either. Can we get some posted?

I'd go with Energy Mastery over Pyre if not just for the reason SS is a end hog (imo) so Conserve Power and Physical Perfection come in handy.

Is it true that Membrane HO's will add defense to the Tank via Phalanx Fighting?

I do have one suggestion that you might hear out. To heck with Super Jump at the end. Get Grant Cover and boost your Defense Debuff resistance to 93.6% from 76.3%.

I second this. You could then place a Kismet Unique there for an extra +6% to hit. Another thing I would change, if you have Ninja run. Switch out Swift for Hurdle. Hurdle + Ninja run works wonders for traveling.

I did what you suggested a while ago before I got accolades and io's and now I barely use conserve power unless I get a rage + hasten + tier 9 crash at the same time.

With stacked Active Defence I'm at the DDR cap and the Winters Gift gives some resistance to slows which I find an issue with Shields.
The purples are also there for the recharge allowing stacked rage for extra damage and availability of the big hitters, SC, FS and FB.

I don't have my build saved in Mids, but I just wanted to pipe up and say that my main is Shield/SS/Pyre and he's incredibly fun to play.

The big issue with Pyre instead of Energy is endurance drain. Most of the money I've spent on him has been for recovery. However, I've tuned his build with Rikti in mind. It's clear sailing and mostly full endurance for most other enemy groups.

My biggest purchase has been Numina's recovery/regen. Everything else has been relatively cheap sets. 200 mil should have you well on your way to making the build run smoothly.
