  1. Now, I could easily be wrong here, but this comes up occasionally... And I recall reading that what your seeing is more of a quirk of how things work in windows than anything else. When you bring up the Task Manager, CoH is no longer the primary focus, so fewer processing cycles are dedicated towards it.

I'm fairly sure this is what's going on, but you may want to wait for more tech minded individuals than myself to either confirm or refute my answer.
  2. M4: This depends entirely on your powersets/build and what you can take on... If you can take out archvillains solo (with or without help from shivans/warburg nukes) the list is rather large. If you can't; positron is an easily solo'd TF, I believe...
  3. As much as I love new shineys, and am usually willing to shell out premium prices for the latest stuff (when I'm in the market to replace aging gear, anyway)... I think this is one trend that I'm going to skip. While this 3d is better than the old red/blue cellophane glasses, the method doesn't seem entirely different... ... I just object to any additional eye ware other than that which currently allows me to view 2d displays without that ever present blurry-ness that covers everything.

Wow... Wasn't expecting it to get Honor Harrington in as few questions as it did... -.-

Can't watch Hulu without some proxy intervention though... >.<

My time wasters... hmm... The Comedy Network wasn't yet mentioned... Might only work for Canadian IP addresses though. I get my daily fix of The Daily Show and Colbert Report through here, and the two new shows from the stars of Corner Gas show up here as well.

This is pretty much true for all villain archetypes; don't let others shoehorn you into any perceived roll. While hero archtypes are largely specialized, Each villain does at least two different things well, one of which is usually dishing out decent damage.

Even blue side, some sets for certain archetypes allow players to go beyond their regular roles (although sometimes it requires a little creative enhancing)

    Game Freezes

I'd consider looking at the tech boards and reading this post before starting your own there. Paying specific attention to the "how to post" link about using CoH Helper (link in the post may be incorrect, so use this one), and HijackThis when posting in order to maximize our fellow tech minded forumites in their effort to resolve your problem.

Off the top of my head, freezing could be due to hardware not being up to snuff (Power supply not distributing enough power to all components, not enough ram, etc...); Software issues (too many resource hogs running in background, drivers not up-to-date, etc); network related (although anything here would likely just result in disconnects); or any combination of things.

It's impossible to diagnose "game freezes" without additional hardware/software information, and CoH Helper and HijackThis will provide this information; posting in the tech boards will result in the most knowledgeable people in our community looking over your problem for you.

Just a helpful nettiquette tip for future reference; there is no need to create two additional threads after the first if they all relate to the same issue. You are free to reply to your own thread requesting further assistance/information about the topic at hand (especially if they are within a day of eachother). No harm done; I'm just suggesting a a way to streamline your future help requests...

And If I've read your posts correctly... Welcome to our game! I hope your stay is a most enjoyable one, despite this snafu you've stumbled upon in the online store.

    PhysX Issue

I hope that someone more knowledgeable than I can provide more details... but I think the basics of it is that the game's current implementation of PhysX only supports the old Aegia cards, not the PhysX that's included with Nvidea now-a-days...

Search yields a number of results with detailed replies.

    Mouse look

I believe, by default holding either [Page Up] or [Middle Mouse Button] and moving the mouse works. ([page down] resets the camera) ..

It's under: Options > Keymapping > View > "rotate camera"

Add all that to the incredibly good behaviour of the masses of people here for the Winter Olympics and I would swear that Paragon City is here in Canada since you're all so damn polite .

I wonder if there is a way to give honorary Canadian citizenship to the heroes of Paragon City (not sure what we would do about the villains though....make them citizens of Toronto I guess *rimshot*).
'specially those master minds... having to call in their private army for a little snow (sorry guys, but you'll never live that one down)...

Ok, here's the deal; the very second the devs say anything about improving elec blast's performance; I'll be right there with you with chants of "equality for dual pistols!"

Now, having said that, and admitting that I have not yet played DP... Many of my ranged characters use elec blast (most of those without a secondary set that compliments it by providing more '-end'), and I really don't see what everyone's problem with it is.

So if it is better than elec, then it is not THE worst... and if it's not THE worst- then any cries to re-work its performance should be directed towards that which is the worst, which is ostensibly elec blast. ... for which buffing pleas have fallen on deaf ears for a long time.

No problem, if you run into anything you don't understand/need help with, feel free to ask. As long as you're willing to learn, our community is generally willing to help.

One of the best sources of game-related information we have is Paragon Wiki. I highly recommend bookmarking it if you plan to stay for any length of time. (be careful when googling it... the version at the old wikia host is no longer supported, and I hear talk of goldfarmers and malware at that site.)

Really? I guess I'm out of the loop then, because I hadn't heard anything about THIS double XP's date until a relatively short time ago.... compared to last year's calendar...
  17. Aah, yes; a few weeks after i17 may have been a more.... strategic placement of this event. I say a couple weeks after to give time to work out some inevitable kinks.
  18. I... need a moment to confirm your desires...

You want, and correct me if I'm wrong, them to put i17 features on the live servers for free activation/2x XP weekend? Features that are still in beta, and may break the game for many people?
  19. The Grim Heaper

    Server question?

Well, we've got many Aussies on the NA servers, and the whole NA/UK server divide is determined by your account - and specifically if you've applied a UK serial code (which, as far as I know, is not normally sold in Australia)...

So - barring any connection issues that may arise at your new residence; should not be a problem.
  20. I was always rather fond of the Magsec 4 from perfect dark, although it is somewhat of a standard looking pistol...

For something a little different-looking, perhaps a gun similar to the Cyclone (pic2 pic3) from the same game.

Also, wouldn't mind a pistol with a blade attached to the barrel, like these examples from Borderlands. ... doesn't have to be, y'know, functional... just look menacing.
  21. I'm... not too keen on the idea of a chance (however low) to get a better rarity after sacrificing only two of a lower rarity, in this respect I prefer Memphis Bill's proposed model...

    Also, since I feel it should be asked, does this suggestion lump all similar level tiers of the same rarity togeather, or would that be another level of complexity? If the latter, perhaps that would be a good place to work in some "upgrading" mechanic when scrapping two with the same rarity;

    When dealing with C+U/C+R/U+R
    T1+T1 = T1
    T1+T2 = 50% T1, 50% T2
    T1+T3 = 50% T1, 50% T3
    T2+T2 = T2
    T2+T3 = 50% T2, 50% T3
    T3+T3 = T3

    When dealing with C+C/U+U/R+R
    T1+T1 = T1, 10% T2, 10% T3
    T1+T2 = 45% T1, 45% T2, 10% T3
    T1+T3 = 45% T1, 45% T3, 10% T2
    T2+T2 = T2, 10% T1, 10% T3
    T2+T3 = 45% T2, 45% T3, 10% T1
    T3+T3 = T3, 10% T1, 10% T2

No, although I won't speak for Snow even though I believe we are similar minded in this idea, that's still not quite it. My comments involving selling stacks on the market were more to say that it could potentially do more good* (easier acquisition of items otherwise lacking supply would lower their price point) than bad (less of the excess from the random rolls hitting the market).

*Although, this may depend on your viewpoint... if you're profiting off of the lack of certain common salvage on the market, you wouldn't consider this good, as it could eat into your profit margin
  23. Yes, let's keep this thread about the Idea of scrapping salvage for a chance at more desirable salvage. My fault for going on a bit of a tangent. Had I known about snows topic beforehand, I wouldn't have.

I'm not so sure it would impact the market that greatly. Yes, much of the excess generated by the rolls may end up on the market, but I think it's just that... the excess, the stuff that isn't as needed anyway (see: computer virus, demonic threat report, Iron...), the stuff that the rolls generated while they look for the masterwork weapons and spell scrolls. The things they need but can't justify spending over 10k inf for per common. When the rolls give them these things they (and clearly, the market in general) need... it likely won't hit the market anyway, as they keep them for their own use.

Alternatively, if the market's supply of, say, spell inks, was running low, the option to spend 100-150 (based off Snow Globe's suggested price point) tickets to infuse the market with a guaranteed stack of 10, rather than spending the same amount of tickets (150/8=18.75[round to 19] rolls), and there being only a cumulative probability of 0.0035 of getting 10 or more spell inks....

EDIT: and, heck, even though we've been throwing around the number 10 as number of rolls to possibly get the desired salvage (it being the point where the cost is equal to a guaranteed uncommon)... in ten rolls the probability of not getting it is 16%...
